Singing Hills Golf Course in Mid Sussex

Not bad, greenkeepers are good..

Struggling with drainage issues but significant investment into improvements will hopefully prove successful. Some holes are still being worked on, but winter rules apply to them. Bunkers are generally bare, but understandably, expenditure has gone on drainage.

This is a course that makes you think about every shot. Long drives are not enough. Downgraded due to their single seat buggy policy, joining East Sussex National. If you have a disability and use your own buggy, they want prior notice and you have to have insurance. At the halfway mark a Karen came out and told I was not allowed to use my buggy, which I used there the last time I played, with a doctors letter and a waiver. Now you need to jump through hoops and pay out for insurance. Not disabled friendly. Still a good course to play.

Course is in great condition, some drainage lines on some of the fairways and some bunkers are G.U.R but even so was a pleasant experience playing the Lake/River 18

Unlike other posters, I found all of the staff (pro shop and bar) very helpful. What lets the club down is the state of the course. The greens are pick marked and it appears no one repairs their pitch marks. Some of the fairways have hugs gouges in them half filled with sand (some kind of drainage work possibly but very poorly maintained). Most of the greens have hard, compacted sand and are more like playing from baked mud; the few bunkers with proper sand in them are filled with footprints with no evidence of raking. All in all, the impression I was left with was of a course that is unloved. Whoever is in charge of maintenance should be embarrassed. It’s a shame because the course itself has a huge amount of potential. I wouldn’t be desperate to come back again until the maintenance is improved.

15/7/24. Played the lakes/valley courses. The good courses are severely let down by the awful bunkers. Craters with hard dried mud in the bottom,should have GUR signs until renovated. Good clubhouse and food.

Good driving range. Top tracer works great. But no auto ball feeder. Balls are very reasonably priced as well. Downside is that the driving range is rather short and if I did take out a driver, I would be afraid of hitting it over the boundary. I think the boundary net at the back is at 250 yards or so.... Pro shop staff were friendly and helpful, as was the general vibe. Loved driving into the course. Felt a bit magical with all the trees around.

Excellent choice of light lunches with friendly staff, especially David at the main bar. Will definitely return many more times.

Course needs a bit of work. Overall pretty good. Food in the bar is excellent and well priced.

Very unhelpful staff. They told me they could put a scorecard in for me at the end of the round as the pro shop would be open but then they closed it early. Also said it would be fine to come another day and put that scorecard in so I drove over a couple days later and they refused to put a scorecard in after saying they would. An hour of my day wasted and they did not aplogise for the inconvenience. The course also has very poor drainage so not one to play with even a small amount of rain.

This was without doubt the worst Christmas lunch I have ever had. I very much doubt if anything on the plate had been cooked that day! I returned my plate - couldn’t be tempted to eat anything on it. My school dinners were better than this. To be fair, the manager refunded the main course item (which we had prepaid in full). However, It would not have been unreasonable to refund the whole lot, or at least given us a complementary glass of wine! Never again.

Driving range is superb with toptracer app making for a cheap fun virtual golf match when it's wet outside. Singing hills suffers in winter due to clay soils and course often closed after rain

Always enjoy playing Singing Hills with 3 very different 9 hole courses. Plenty of water hazards and trees to navigate. A great place to play matchplay, real risk and reward holes with island greens and narrow fairways. Sadly the greens and bunkers were in a poor condition when we played this autumn. Greens ran fairly true but were patchy. Well worth the money for a round or two 😉

The worst kept course I have played in a long time. Absolutely disgraceful condition. All greens potted and unmanaged along with the fairways and all bunkers unplayable and should be GUR. Charging full price of £47 per round is a rip off.

We went to a wake there. Food and service was excellent. Seemed quite a busy place. Nice surroundings.

A really outstanding breakfast: four of us asked for omelettes - not sure if they were on the menu but the chef made a spectacular job of it and we were all delighted. Friendly and very efficient service along with a pleasant room made for a most enjoyable meal. Recommended.

Fantastic driving range and course

When this course is open it's ok, it's definitely not a bad course but it's nothing great either. I have Played Lake/River and found it very boring to play therefore would rather not play if this course out of everything around the area. Greens were not in the best of conditions but the fairway's, rough and tee boxes where in good condition. The bar and terrace area is really nice in the summer and a great way to cheer yourself up after a boring round of golf. The pro shop is alright and like most other courses. The driving range is actually nice and is definitely the better ones in the area.

Booked the Christmas lunch for a group of four, superb setting and top quality food and service. Christmas catering can be disappointing but not here! Highly recommended a quality experience.

have not played for a few years , and i know why the course condition was terrible 45 for a sunday was a joke greens so poor worst i have even seen , tee boxes looked if a bomb had landed on it and then a tank driven over it you have been warned

Greeting perfect. Pro shop excellent at initial meeting, informative and efficient. Lunch was brilliant, simple food well presented and tasty. Staff flexible and the whole clubhouse experience was first class. Played Lake/River and courses were fabulously laid out. Great challenge of golf, variety BUT greens not good. Recovering from disease perhaps and recent hot weather hasn't helped. Had greens been better five stars was guaranteed. This is great venue and we'll be back. Thank you Dawn, cheers. Tony Perrin. Tried their Sunday carvery today and it was great. Freshly mad with well cooked meats and veg. Friendly accommodating staff and nice surroundings. After living in the are for over 20 years this was our first visit and definitely not the last.

Disappointing is the only word I can use. This course used to be in great condition but for some reason in less than a year is gone from 'great' to 'like playing in a farmer's field'. Greens were in dreadful shape and the tee boxes were barely flat and most looked like a tractor had been over them. Not sure if they are trying to wind it down to get the developer's in but it really feels like it. Very sad they are still charging decent money for a shocking course. One wonders if they have gotten rid of the groundstaff as the place is just not cared for at all. Sadly this will be our last visit as it's not worth the money or the travel effort. If I were a member there I would be looking at the way it's run and asking some serious questions.

OK. Like half of the holes played but too much contrast for me.

The course in a vey poor state, greens are the worse I’ve played in Sussex this year. No seats at any holes. The tee have no grass on them whatsoever. Staff were very rude on arrival. My advice there 3 course around this course play them. Very over rated

I played the lake and river on Wednesday and couldn't believe the poor condition of the tee boxes and especially the the greens they were so poor I've never seen them this bad they usually are in decent condition but it's like your putting off the fairways. No mention of the condition of the course before you book and no reduction in the green fees because of the state of the course. Very disappointed.

Played this golf course with some friends, cannot believe had bad the course is in once a member he for 10 years such a shame as was one off the best course around in the summertime…..

From the minute we arrived ,we was made to feel unwelcome ,society of 24 golfers Inc food ,staff lacking customer relations ,bar staff need retraining and quite unfriendly ,after spending nearly 2 grand would expect to be made more welcome definitely wouldn't recommend and won't be returning ,

Course is nice but not sure it's worth 35 quid in comparison to other courses around Sussex who charge less

Sussex mini paradise in golfing term. Three nine hole courses can be played anyway round you wish. Course in good condition. And if you enjoy going out for a Sunday roast give the course a call and book a table.

The course was in great condition. The carvery lunch was top notch. Overall great day only spoilt by the heavy downpour which curtailed the comp.

Far too soft and muddy to have a decent round. Felt like they are just taking the money when the course should have been shut. Not going back

Played here today. The course was in very poor condition, in fact I question whether it should have been open at all. It was very muddy and boggy throughout and made for a very unenjoyable round. Ended up covered in mud. It makes one think that they are just open to take the money and to hell with the playing experience. Will not be returning.......... Ever!!!!!!

Easy online booking, pleasant pro shop staff, good selection of clothing and equipment. Course well kept but very soggy. So much so it was carry bags only. Very poor that this wasn't made clear at time of booking as we were both finished by hole16, I haven't carried clubs for 40 plus years!

Played the river then the lake courses, both were in surprisingly great condition taking in to consideration the rain just lately obviously alot of work has gone into course to get it to this high standard. It's the first time I've been here and will definitely be back ASAP. I had a bacon sandwich and cup of tea in restaurant it was reasonably priced very tasty. As you can tell I jolly well loved it and would recommend the golf food and staff without hesitation.

A fantastic place to go for a drink or a meal. Great setting and great staff. Highly recommended. A+

We have our annual Christmas lunch here annually, except for last year. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The quality of the food is exceptional. We have always had a pleasant day at the clubhouse.

Always a pleasure to visit Singing Hills. We only played golf today but the food is very good too. 3 well kept 9 hole courses to chose from. Valley can be a big damp after heavy rain but still playable.

Great golf course and good restaurant Bar staff good

I took my golf society to Singing Hills a couple of weeks ago. The match was originally booked for 2020 but was delayed due to covid lockdown. Despite this Dawn and her team were able to rearrange the match and made booking a rearranging very easy to do. The course was in excellent condition with very lush fairways , difficult rough and consistent rolling greens. The catering provided us with a fabulous day. The serving staff during reception and then the meal were fantastic.  They were very attentive, polite and friendly. The meal was superb.  I have had so many positive comments from the attendees in my group  both on the condition of the course and the excellent pre and post match meal.

Good condition and greens very good

Played the River then the Valley course and they were in great condition. Some lovely laid out holes with challenges here and there. Guy in the pro shop was super helpful and Mark the green keeper (with the beard and hat) took time out of his day to go back over 3 holes to look for a misplaced pitching wedge which was lovely of him. Friendly bar staff, a nice place to sit and drink and even a white peacock roaming around were all lovely touches. Will definitely be back :).

Course In good condition throughout, but greens slow and inconsistent. Lovely day of golf.

Played the River and Lake courses, was ok, some really nice holes, we had 60 mph winds so couldn't enjoy it as much as a sunny day but overall worth a visit and the clubhouse was visitor friendly.

3 good 9 hole courses, well maintained. Reasonable price and can book a tee time online

A little wet but enjoyable out on the course. Greens pretty good for this time of the year.

Course played well not like my golf. Very well organised in this difficult time and the young staff serving the food and drink were very polite and helpful. Well done. Ps There was also a group of 20 of us so rules a must and followed out to the mask. 😏

Nice course but tees in poor condition and fairways need to recover from the winter/spring weather.

Enjoyable course where you're probably best off hitting 4 and 5 irons off most of the tees. I'd give it another half star, but the 9th on River is a silly hole - you can't see the green because of a huge tree stood in front. That's a shame because it could be great - all they've got to do is move the tee box 30 yards to the right.

Excellent golf course. The fairways and greens have been well looked after in the recent dry spell. The drainage systems keep the whole course working even when the weather is not so great. Some long holes witb tight teeing off areas can challenge even the best golfers. Choice of 3 sets of 9 makes for a more interesting golfing experience.

This is the 2nd year we have been here for our Retirement Association Christmas Meal. The staff are very attentive to our every need. We had the 3 course meal Such a great choice from the fresh salmon prawns+ smoked salmon /cold meats / salad starter. Onto the full roast dinner of either Pork/ Lamb/ Beef / Turkey with all the trimming. Not much room left for the 6 choices of desert. Wonderful views. Wonderful wildlife on drive down to venue. The restaurant always produces good quality food all day, every day. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner you won’t be disappointed. I always look forward to a round of golf with food to follow here.

Had lunch today at the Singing Hills restaurant. My friends and I had the carvery. One friend is a vegetarian and she had a lovely nut roast. The food was beautifully cooked with the meat really tender. In a lovely setting overlooking the golf course. Staff were attentive but not too much. A really lovely experience and we will be back again!,

The greens were excellent, a few fairways still needing work, but very disappointed to end up being behind a guy trying to teach his partner how to play golf, when he couldn't play himself. Will definitely return next year to see how the course is improving

Our first visit yesterday to meet some friends for breakfast. We had a table in the window with splendid views: the table was nicely laid and the menu offered a wide selection of breakfasts. We enjoyed everything from a bacon sandwich to omelettes and the full English, all of which were excellent. Service was friendly and efficient and the prices are remarkably good value. Overall this is quite a discovery and we shall certainly return.

Lovely we had a perfect good bye for our mum.

We are not golfers but we were looking to wile away a couple of hours outdoors so we decided to give the driving range a go and we weren't disappointed. When you're as bad as we were one hundred balls go a long way, not in distance but in time you understand! We had a great time and who'd have thought it could have been so much fun. We visited the bar afterwards and I have to say that overall the surroundings made for a very pleasant few hours outdoors.

Greens barely playable fairways not cut and fluffy and looks like they have given up looking after the course ..disgusted that no one in pro shop warned me of greens had been spiked and sanded

Open to members and non-members, the restaurant offers a breakfast and lunch service 7 days a week. Everything you would expect in a full english, but plenty of other menu choices if this is not your bag. Very good attentive service and extremely reasonable prices.
