Wouldn’t even give one star!!!…disgusting. More like boiled potatoes with some barely cooked spinach. Shameful! Literally drier than a mouthful of sand!

I’ve been ordering from Simla for years food is very delicious and always on-time delivery. I’d even get some extra poppadoms and free rice sometimes thank you really appreciate that! I have noticed the food change a bit from years ago please change back again because it was extra tasty whatever you were doing back then, I feel there may have been a chef change or something. Particularly notice a difference in the chicken pakora it was a darker red and more succulent before. Anyway keep up the good work!

First time ordering and was very impressed! The food (chicken tikka biryani, tandoori chicken and naan bread) was excellent, really well cooked and delicious. The portion size was also really good – the biryani made two full meals! We were given free poppadoms and dipping sauce which was a nice touch. The quality of the food and the reasonable prices mean we'll definitely be ordering again.

We ordered a chicken Tikka Starter, Lamb Tikka starter, Tikka Lamb Chops, Lamb Sheekh starter and some chapati. However, It seems to be that every starter is absolutely dowsed in some kind of semi mild tasteless sauce - almost like BBQ sauce that didn’t taste like Tikka in the absolute slightest. Absolutely disgusting. The lamb was absolutely rock hard to the point it took me about 5 mins to chew one bite. The whole experience was tasteless and a disaster. Won’t be returning. You need to look at how Indian Establishments such as spice empire in Cleobury Mortimer or the king of grills - Soho Tavern cook their food because I’ve spent the best part of £40 and it tastes like absolute garbage.

Rubbish, ask for it to be delivered a bit later as having friends at a certain time, just delivered whenever when I rang and said about it they said it is their fault but nothing they can do but say sorry! Rubbish!

Shocking service! ordered from here a few time's now and it always takes longer than they say, order took nearly 2 hour's to get to us tonight, food cold! No apology!

Ordered before and food was great, unfortunately this time it was not, mince in the negris was not fully cooked. The jaipur curry did not have all the ingredients stated and there was enough onion in it to sink a battleship, plus it was crunchy and not fully cooked. This after it arrived warm and it took 1hr 45 to be delivered.

My last review of this place many years back was raving. Something's changed. 2 hour delivery times and the food is very average. Poppadoms stale. Whatevers changed, needs to change back.

Ordered a delivery from here on a weeknight, after waiting an hour we rang to be told 'the drivers just left', no appology. Another 40 mins later it arrived, luke warm, again no appology. My food (after microving) was actually very nice! The wifes food was just average

Honestly the best takeaway I been to and I travel a lot for takeaways, the chicken tikka was just cooked to perfection and the customer service at the till is so good, will defo be back every weekend!

Worst customer service ever! I’ve had multiple issues and they’re so rude over the phone. The food takes hours to come and if you raise a concern they speak to you so unprofessionally!

Haven’t been here for a while ordered when I arrived home there was no Nan bread the chips were absolutely disgusting. The chicken did not taste like chicken the whole meal went in the bin will not be going back in a hurry

Been having food from here for 5 years now and its the best curry ever. I have friends that come over and stay with me from Redditch just they can have a curry from Simla. If you have not tried it then you dont know what your missing, Simla is the best

SIMLA never fails me. Impeccable food, reasonable portion sizes and always quick. They have upped their prices and stopped the 15% reduction if you collect for cash, which is dissappinting. Probably cheaper to order through UBER EATS with a discount code. All in all, good service and tasty food, however will get delivered next time.

The most dreadful dreadful service 2 hours 15 minutes the gentleman told us an hour after order it was on its way 5 minutes then another hour & a half Avoid Avoid at all costs if you want a service that you pay for Ali told us too continue too the shop for a refund then turned the situation on too the order company so has completely destroyed our evening by not being truthful twice again 2 hours 15 minutes & too be told 5 minutes an hour in too the wait extremely dishonest disrespectful disappointing service & obviously one knows there is something a miss when they will not give you the name of the owner

I've been holding off leaving a review for a while. Simla used to be great! Unfortunately, it's slowly been getting worse. The food quality has gone down (don't know whether they are cutting back on ingredients to save money) but their curries are either: lacking flavour, ridiculous hot for a curry that's not supposed to be that hot, or sickly sweet to compensate for lack of flavour? . Every curry we have had now for the past couple of months has been dissapointing. They have even been cutting back on how much dip and onion salad you get, and now they've actually made their pots smaller. Its a shame. We used to look forward to curry night. We've even tried ordering different curries but they haven't been up to scratch. We're going to start looking for another Indian now. Whatever it is they have done or changed, they really need to change it back because its just not good. Its alright. 😔 You can see from other reviews that quality and service has gone down hill.

Place is a joke food took over 2hrs to arrive and its not even the weekend definitely won't be ordering again

We've been having takeaways from Simla for over a year now, and can honestly say that every meal ordered has been delicious. Portions are generous - so generous that we sometimes cannot eat it all and have the leftovers the day after. Only once was there an item missing, but they delivered that within minutes. We order online and are generally given a waiting time of 60 minutes, but delivery is quite often quicker than that. Highly recommended!

This a good takeaway. They do self proclaim this to be the 6th best Indian food takeaway in the whole of the UK! Wow, high expectations then. In all honesty, this is a bit of a stretch of the imagination and something of a reach to say the least. It's good, but not exceptional. They let you look in the kitchen and you will see big gravy pots, so generic sauces. Any take away that uses large base sauces cannot qualify to be the best of anything really

Orderd food 8pm now 22.45 and still not arrived poor service all they guy says is sorry then hangs up writing this review before food has arrived as my mrs has gone past the hungry stage and now tired . Will either hand food to Homless tonight or refuse the order wen it comes if it ever turns up. This place used to be good somthing gone rong . Service down hill. I refuse to eat from this place but my partner doesn’t like Chinese so that’s why orderd Indian for her. I order my Chinese at the same time and it arrived 45 min later I’ve eaten she is sittin ther no food and litterly a joke of a time to wait . Will never order from here again .

This was easily one of the best Indian take aways I’ve had. Packaged nicely, delivery as stated in 30 mins. Lovely tandoori chicken!

Ordered via just eat with an estimated delivery time (I ordered when the restaurant first opened) and it soon went past the delivery time so I phoned them up asking them an estimated time my food would arrive where to whoever was on the phone placed me on hold for 5 minutes (sounded crazy in the background) he returned to the phone after this time and didnt even let me get a word in edgways...I was rudely told that they are extremely behind and he doesnt know where my food is because they have 11 drivers out with orders! Why take so many orders at once if you cant handle it? Definitely wont order from here again absolute nightmare.

Ordered lamb pasanda,lamb was tough n grisly,sauce was lovely,I used to work in the meat market,its mutton not lamb.lamb is never tough n sinewy.

We ordered about 6:50pm (their website) an hour and 40 minutes later we rang up to see whether delivery was ,I was told it was out for delivery ,I rang back again at about 9:15pm I was then told that the order hasn’t been started yet. I was fobbed off the first time If they would’ve took the time to look into the order they would’ve realised this. Eventually got the food at 9:50 roughly 3 hours after ordering it. They were apologetic and did say that put some extra food in however this didn’t happened. The time taken to get the food can be a bit hit and miss but this was the worst yet. When talking to the guy on the phone it seems that they have several ways of taking food orders various sites and the orders can get lost easily. Good for business Bad for customers.

Simla has to be one of, if not THE best Indian takeaway that I have ever been to! I've eaten here quite a lot since moving to the local area, they cater for every level of spice intensity ability, and have a small selection of English dishes for those children who just won't eat any food with even the slightest hint of spice. The food that they cook is delicious, and the flavours that come through really compliment their cooking ability. The portion sizes are also outstanding. Little wonder then that it had been voted the 6th best takeaway in the UK and the 1st in Birmingham. A little tip though, if you do decide to try out this wonderful restaurant, try and call in and collect, you will get your food a lot quicker than ordering and waiting for delivery.

Nice food easier to collect than have delivered

Waited over an hour and a half for food. Ordered a chicken and mushroom balti MILD, when it came it was unbelievably hot!!! Called restaurant to ask for an exchange, was told we couldn’t be found on the system, was asked to wait on the phone about 5 times whilst they persisted to take other orders, could hear complaints of other customers in the background. Won’t be going back here, I’m so disappointed

We always order from Simla, however tonights delivery stated up to 70 minutes, it's been 2 hours and still no delivery. When I called Simla to query I was told explicitly that there was nothing he could do, he would not call the driver, and I was told to simply continue waiting for my order. As I was speaking to him he hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the manager, the same man was put on the phone and he told me he will not do anything about it, when I tried to explain that he was being rude to me he continued to talk over me, I said we will be using another takeaway in future he said good and hung up once more. Such a shame as we have never previously had an issue with Simla. Disappointing. We will not be returning.

Usually we love Simla above all else. However, tonight the chicken pakora had too much batter on it and also the onion bhaji. The chicken balti was nowhere near as good as it usually is. Have they got a knew chef or can they not cope with demand. I dont know b7t it tells in there quality of food.

Delivery times are far too long...........and food not up to standard and it was only a Monday night. Chicken was dry with far too much sugar in the curry. Tandoori was with odd sauce and too much salt. Sorry but far below the standard I expect from a curry house and I have eaten from many..........

Had to wait 2 hours for food to be delivered. After over 30 times ringing them they finally answered and were rude over the phone. Curry wasn't great either. Wouldn't bother using them. Very poor.

Best in south west Brum!! Vast choice of dishes. Portion sizes are really generous. Great lad's taking the orders over the phone. Loads of other take aways closer to home but well worth the 2 / 3 miles travel from my house to pick up (they do deliver btw)

They turn up bad service after 2 hours !

After waiting 3 hours and no sign of delivery drove to collect order. Got the food home to find raw lamb in one dish, one dish had so much cinnamon you couldn't taste the food, the third dish prawns all stuck together. Phoned to complain and told couldn't do a refund because ordered through umber eats. They said they'd redo the order but didn't fancy waiting another 3 hours. No apology. Poor customer service. Will complain to food standards agency. Will never order from there again, If you're thinking of ordering from here i suggest you don't. Plenty of other curry places nearby.

Food is great, but there's been a fair few occasions where they've delivered late. I've stopped coming in for collection as I'd often be waiting more than 20 minutes after the collection time, and today we were waiting 2.5 hours for our delivery

Big portions always busy varies in heat i gave madras sometimes really hot 10 next time 6 on the heat table lovely consistency sauce,nans really nice

Surprised at some of the bad reviews so thought I would leave a review. Food from here is outstanding, the portion sizes are on American scale, food tonight we was missing a dish, within 5minutes the dish plus extra arrived, can't fault that at all. Couple weeks back we had big order from here as family moved back from Canada and they are still raving about how good the food was. Keep up the good work guys 👍

Hair found in the starter, mould found in the middle of the chicken. Asked for a refund....told me they would resend the order.......why would we want the same food when we question the hygiene?....will not be ordering from here again. I suggest you save yourself disappointment and don't order from here either - still no refund received. Appalled by the customer service of this place. Hence the poor review.

The upsetting thing is the food is amazing however this is an appalling lack of customer service. I ordered at 18:21 I was then given a 20:10 delivery time. That is not a problem if the restaurant is busy fair enough. However 20:10 comes and goes. At 20:15 when I phone I get an engaged line and attempt phoning every 5 mins: engaged line no answer, engaged line no answer. When I drive to the shop at 20:50 40 minutes after my delivery window. I wait in a queue and explain the situation. They argue the problem is with Just Eat's unreasonable delivery periods?!? (They only had nearly 2 hours to make and deliver a meal for two). I ask why I received no phone call, no update, nothing. Not even as much as an apology offered, no offer of a discount. Or we'll take some money off next time. So paid I've £3 for delivery collected myself due to being 40 mins late with no contact and an unreachable phone line and not even a apology. Won't be using again!

Iv been eating Indian food for over 40 years and the food from simla is very poor and will not be ordering again I found a piece of plastic from the container within the starter. I did order a Madras but it wasn't spicy at all just meat in gloop I didn't want to add a star but it will not let me post without one.

PLEASE DON'T order from here!! We waited over 3 hours for our food to arrive. Called the shop plenty of times and when we did get through the man was very rude telling us we had our food when we didn't then hung up the phone. The whole was order was wrong as I got a korma which we didn't order and missing items as well. We ordered a chicken madras and received some random dish, onion bhajis were missing completely and got plain naan Instead of garlic. Shame as we was new customers.

Have used simla for a long time now. Always found to be excellent but due to isolation ordered through just eat. Ordered 5 main meals and 4 nan breads. Dissaponointingly the containers were only half full. The onion salad we had 2 small pots between 5 and same with yoghurt dip. 5 poppadoms all smashed to pieces. To say i was disappointed is a bit of an understatement. Definately not the value for money I am used to from them.

I've ordered through Uber Eats based on the good reviews, however rice was burnt, chicken & lamb - driest meat I've ever tasted. Let alone more than 3 hours waiting time. Disappointing.

Never received order after waiting three hours. Ordered through uber eats. He stated they apparently knocked a few times. I live above a shop and you have to buzz in so no he never. He was arsy on the phone. Won't be using again. Hungry and money down!!!!!

Food has got worse over time we ordered last week first time in 5 months and we can see why we haven't ordered in that time defo won't be going back, also always check your order when I gets delivered as they seem to forget parts of the meal. No care taken which is a shame because it was one of the best in the area

The best curry house in Birmingham

Bought a meal for the family and traveled 4 miles to collect as they had such good reviews. Got the food home only to find no rice 😡 meal completely ruined and when I tried to cal there was no reply. Will not return now out of principle. Review left to advise if you collect check before you leave to avoid disappointment

Driver didn’t ring doorbell but instead left a voicemail saying ‘come outside and get your food’, which we only listened to10 minutes later. At which point, food was back in the restaurant. Then called the restaurant and they denied it... Previous curries have been pretty dry and tasteless but we’ve given them the benefit out the doubt. Not anymore...
