Refused entry for no reason at all. Arrived stone cold sober and dressed well at 6pm on a Friday night, place is dead and the rude bouncer just turned me away. Unbelievable

Had such a great time at birdies yesterday. We had such great food from locked n loaded. As I have a food allergy I was a bit nervy but the lovely lady who worked there was so accommodating and I felt so at ease that I was safe and that I was still going to get great food but with some alterations. Thank you guys for such a great experience ❤️

I generally do not write reviews (good or bad) but I was unfairly treated yesterday at this pub. It was clearly a case of discrimination from a black man towards another black man. I have been here before and was allowed entrance after 11PM yet the bouncer (a black guy with dreads) said the pub was closed at 10:25 PM. It wasn't the case obviously. And the funny part, is before saying that, he asked me some silly questions which I answered to naively: Where are you from? Who are you with? Where are you coming from? I then proceeded to ask why the pub was closed at that time as I was allowed entrance before, he suddenly started patronizing me, doing a hand gesture of "get out" (In french, we say "du balai" or "va t-en"), saying he owes me no explanation. There was another guy with him and at some point you could see the other guy was even disappointed and feeling sorry for me, seeing how I was being treated unfairly. It's all good though, I understand if a place doesn't want you, just go somewhere else and spend your money over there which is what I did but I still had to leave this review because at times, some owners are not aware of the reasons behind the sudden collapsed of their businesses. Food is amazing. Chicken tenders, loaded fries and halloumi fries all tasted spot on.

Went with smart casual clothes after work and rejected at door without much explanation. I believe the security at the door is having an identity crisis and thinks he works at Berghain. I’m willing to raise funds for a geography lesson in case he is lost.

we were refused entry. it was 7pm, casually/cute dressed, completely sober, the venue was almost empty. the bouncer shook his head, saying place was closed, yet let another person in right after saying it was not closed laughing. seems a bit unfair.

No bar staff... chaos on the stairway afternoon. If you want to drink go somewhere else

Nicely decorated bar. The boneless salt and pepper chicken was beautiful. Not to expensive. Only complaint was that they closed part of the bar and did not tell the ladies waiting there.

Had such a nice night tonight, made all the better by the amazing staff! Came alone, tried all the cocktails which were 10/10 much to my surprise. The security was awful. They wouldn't let us in because 1 of my friends didn't have BRP, so far ok, but the worst thing is that they only did it with my group while the others didn't need to show any identification I just won't call by the right name what happened because I don't have proof and in this world we can't accuse without proof. Although we went in at the end, the atmosphere was not cool, so we ended up leaving earlier

Visited 26th Aug, Saturday afternoon, there was what can only be described as an amazing live singer, good voice and great songs. It was so good. We left at 8pm though. Place is big, bright, peoples in there were aged around, 30, 40, 50 everyone enjoying them selves. Only downside is the bar service is very slow. Will definitely go back soon. it's great! Had loaded fries which looked incredible but tasted awful, so, so, so much salt, I couldn't finish them. Real shame as they looked so good.

A 5.30pm visit, not busy. The venue was beautiful. Although, some of the seats need to be cleaned. A lot of stains. One of the ladies toilets had been blocked with tissue. The food is the main issue. Looked beautiful but that's about it. The halloumi chips we're ok. The salt and pepper loaded fries were just pure salt. The bacon and/or cheese on the chicken burger was so burnt, that the whole burger tasted burnt. The chicken strips on the burger tasted nice, alone. Although, I assume the saltiness of the fries were far too much as a few hours later I was vomitting, after feeling very uncomfortable after eating. I had not consumed any alcohol. I ordered a diet pepsi/coke which was poured as standard. The barman did offer to change this but it wasn't a necessity. So, thanks to him.

Food was so salty. Looks nice but tastes awful. Bar tender tried to give me a £5 note change that had huge chunk missing out of it, the bar tender clearly knew what he was doing and pretended it was an accident. Won't be visiting again.

Can't give a score for the food, service or atmosphere because we weren't allowed in! Myself and my partner had enjoyed food round the corner and thought we'd pop into this place for a drink. I waited for the bouncer to come forward rather than just storming in. His first comments "not today mate, not today mate". I politely responded "why's that? Is it because it's busy?" It didn't look it, but I thought maybe that might be the case. The bouncer's follow up was "you look like you've already had a few today". I'd had half a pint with a meal about half an hour prior so to say I found this to be slightly insulting is an understatement. Not sure if there is a dress code in this place, he looked us up and down in our casual shirts and shorts as if we were vermin, but that's not the reason he gave at the door. So anyway, they lost a bit of custom which obviously that bouncer didn't want. We went road the corner to a sports bar and had a totally different experience. So if you want to go somewhere poncey where you'll be instantly judged, give this a whirl. It certainly delivered tonight.

Poor service on a saturday night waited 30 minutes for a drink. The food was great but that was a street food vendor, felt sorry for them. They said “this is standard for drink service” Shame as appeared a good venue!

Male bartender needs to realise that asking for tips isn’t how tips work.

I went to come here at the weekend but unfortunately because two of our party were black, the bouncer refused entry.

A venue to stay with your friends or meet new others. Good atmosphere and music.

Went there to eat with my wife and daughter (21) and they asked for id for my daughter and her boyfriend despite them being with us. We are 61 and 56, they had to go back to where we had parked, only to find that he had nothing with him, so we left.

Ate here last week and got food poisoning! Both me and my partner were really unwell, I have contacted them to let them know and they haven’t made any effort to respond. Also staff in the ladies toilets complaining about how awful it is to work at birdies, so not really a surprise that there is no care given when informing them they gave us food poisoning.

The food was nice but a little pricey. Also couldn't even hear myself talk because the music was horrendously loud.

Pretty good until we came back for another drink and we were ignored whilst waiting to be served had a cocktail but it wasn't that nice unfortunately. So rather disappointed 😥 with service the second time.

They stopped the quiz It's ok but expensive via the drinks. Cool atmosphere and so on Food is ok too. Very much street vibe but hey that's digbeth

Such a lovely bar well worth a visit

Lovely place for drinks and street food (if you enjoy loud music of course). Found parking nearby and has variety of options to order. Would visit again.

Sadly, I was spiked here on Saturday night (17.12.22) and went to the bouncers for help. Instead of taking me seriously or helping, they kicked out my boyfriend and left me with the man who spiked me! Incredibly rude and unhelpful, not to mention how dangerous this was. Bouncers have a duty of care and they really left me in a vulnerable position. Be careful, seems a few girls have been spiked here!

Overrated bar. I expected better but was hugely disappointed. A chaotic vibe, uncomfortable seating and obnoxiously loud music. The toilets were filthy too. I certainly won't be coming back.

As other patrons have already mentioned on here, definitely worth a visit if you are doing any kind of tour of the Digbeth area. A really friendly vibe, with a wide variety of punter "types" (if you know what I mean!). We purchased some food from one of the vendors there - they do that thing where they hand you a buzzer so you can carry on drinking and not hang around waiting for your order. The chips were simply stunning. A really chilled visit - highly recommended.

Initially when entering birdies for my first time I was a bit unsure weather or not it would be the sort of place I’d enjoy but either way my friends were expressing to me how great it was their and how lovely the staff where so I started my night having some food the burger was top tier I then proceeded to have some cocktails which were also very impressive,I only had one issue all the time I was their which was quickly rectified by a nice and polite young lad (Arron I believe he’s name was) definitely somewhere I’d visit again In the future

My cousin was spiked in here and collapsed outside and bouncers were rude and refused to help. Wouldn't even give us a chair or water. Absolutely disgusting.

Disgusting duty of care by this establishment. Our friend was spiked whilst in this bar yesterday whilst at the bar, she went from fine to unconscious within seconds. The door men through her out on the street and wouldn’t even give us a stool to sit her on. Thank GOD there are people out there who genuinely care about their customers. Considering this happened in their bar, they didn’t want to take ownership of it happening at all and tried shifting the blame else where. Not once did they ask if she was okay. I will be making a police report this morning about it happening and hope the whole place gets looked into! Thankfully I was able to run over to Mama Roux and get help there. The staff there were second to none and looked after her for the hours we waited for an ambulance. They showed the compassion and kindness that should’ve been given from Birdies.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER CARE! Wouldn’t even give one star but was unable to do less to leave a review! Bouncers are nasty people who refused to help someone that had been drinking on the premise saying that they were “too drunk”… after seeing paramedics and the ambulance arrived it was confirmed this person had been spiked… only place we went to! Ruined the hen do! Absolutely awful experience! Refusing to assist wouldn’t even give us water when we asked… had to seek help from bouncers across the road at mama roux’s who were amazing! DO NOT GO TO BIRDIES!

Fun bar with lovely cocktails. Everything is bird and tropical themed. Would go again. Only downside is that it was a bit noisy due to a quiz being held which made it difficult to chat with people I met there for a conference social event.

I just popped into Birdies for the first time yesterday for a quick drink after dinner. I ended up staying until closing time! What a fantastic night! Love the decor, the people were all up for a good night out and most of all the DJ absolutely smashed it! Such an eclectic mix of music, pretty much every box was ticked - there was even bhangra! Cannot wait to go again!

Stopped in birdies during a day out in Digbeth, a really cool place! Tried the rising sun burger and the mother clucker and was really impressed with the burgers. Great atmosphere and a really good place to chill

Great decor, food and cocktails. Price is okay and some of the cocktail are alittle bit small but made up in taste. Really enjoy the live music that they have going on at Saturday. Will deffo go again !

The place looks lovely however there isn't much of a drinks selection and the staff we encountered have absolutely no people skills. Basically coming and having a go if you sit anywhere that is reserved within 30 mins of the slot. No sign of the reservation party! Unbelievable.

A really nice large open space and bar. As not a proper building, rather cold. Would be amazing in summer. Drinks not cheap, and not exactly worth the money either. You'd expect £9 cocktails yo have enough liquor to warrant the charges. Food was ok, again pricey. Had live singing and the singer was pretty good. Defo worth a visit and certainly a good evening for bar hopping.

Unique space with the perfect addition of heaters to keep warm. Lit up by sparkling lights it sets the tone for a tropical romance. The food we tried was really full of flavour and a nice twist on street food. We had the chicken thigh burger with an Oriental pork belly chilli fries. It was delicious!! Really friendly staff. An all plastic venue so if you like a glass for your wine or beer probably re think your drinking whole. This wasn't a deal breaker for us.

Paid a £50 deposit for an awful experience, rude staff awful service. Lesson learnt first and last visit.

Great atmosphere, drinks were spot on and the service was excellent. The gentleman who served us (Reuben) was really welcoming and helpful. I shall be returning when I am next in the area.

Easily the worst bar in Birmingham. Avoid - loads of great bars in Digbeth!

Probably the slowest service I've ever had at the bar, completely undertrained staff with no clue what they should do, or who should be next served. We had to wait a good 30 minutes to get served, which is shocking at the best of times, but especially on a Wednesday afternoon.

The bar is beautiful - that is a big plus side. The food is good too, and I have no idea about the drinks, because the line to order them were HUGE and I ended up not ordering anything. Even if all you want is a Coke, you'll have to face the gigantic line to order (which seems to take a long time because most people order cocktails, and there was one man to charge and prepare everything). Yes, there is an option to order on their app and receive your order without the line, but I tried that twice and none of them worked.

Was at a Christmas party and it went really well. If your thinking of somewhere different to go with a nice atmosphere this is the place.

I saw this place in Instagram and turned up. When I arrived there was no one to make me feel welcome, take my order sit me down etc. I felt so out of place tbh. I remember someone behind the bar was like you sit down and order anywhere. Anywho, I went for the service and vibes but it just seemed a bit dead with unbothered staff.

Was cold, no heating in the place. It is an outdoor ish venue, so bring a coat. Make sure you take a second mortgage out so you can afford the food also. £11 for a burger and chips. It tasted alright, but not for £11. All in all - 3/5.

Amazing place but plastic pint glasses let it down

Unfortunately had a poor experience The service was the slowest I think I've had and it wasn't busy and didn't seam under staffed. We ordered but they didn't tell us what we ordered wasn't available for 45mins after ordering... And never ended up getting the order right.

The girl with whitebobcut hair was so rude and sarcastic! We had ordered drinks and food and was waiting for over 45mins and she wasn't even apologetic and more so rude that we had been waiting (like it was our fault). Its a shame how a nice place can employ such bad staff! Never going back here again
