Silver Bowl in Braintree

Completely missed a dish off the order and not for the first time. We order most Sundays but won’t order again. It’s so disappointing to not receive all your dishes. When I called them they said the driver had gone home at 2040hrs and couldn’t deliver. I couldn’t collect as I had had a drink. The food you get is ok though but sadly we will find somewhere else to order next week.

Ordered the vegan options and it was so delicious. Was a little expensive but well worth the price. Best Chinese in Braintree. And fantastic options for vegans. We ordered online at 7.50pm was advised it would be up to 70 minutes for delivery but arrived within 45 minutes. Look forward to ordering again.

Pleasantly surprised, first time order with Silver Bowl. Food was delicious, great portion sizes and hot. We had kung po chicken, chips and smoked chicken and collected food about 5:30. We would definitely recommend and will be returning customers, thank you

Awful service!! 1st delivery turned up after 1hour 45 mins for the wrong address. Both people were told to package it back and the driver will swap it. They said they would re-cook after we complained it would be cold. 1 hour later they delivered again just to find out it was the wrong food! We spoke to the guy on the desk and he laughed down the phone that my wife was allergic to the food delivered and that they made the mistake again. Waiting for a manager to call me but don't think it's going to happen...... Grim service for us but sounds like it's been happening all night 🤢

Terrible!!!!! we order take away a lot from here and a few times they have missed items off our order, normally we do mind but on the last occasion we asked them to double check everything, again turn up item missing, we called and they apologised, we waiting 40 mins and still item didn't show, we called back and was told sorry you are too far away for us to come back (we are 3 miles away), even though we had paid for the item as part of our meal and paid for delivery, we complained and said no sorry we want what we have paid for and again they said sorry and would deliver it and no one did!!! worst service ever

I love food from the Silver Bowl and they are only 2 miles up the road from us. We usually spend around £50 with them and am disappointed to see they charge a delivery fee of £1.50 and service charge of 50p. I know it isn't alot but usually if you spend over a certain amount which is usually about £15 you get free delivery within a certain radius! I hope you will see this review Silver Bowl as we order regularly from you and will go elsewhere next time if you cannot rectify this.

Had a few meals from here last year were fine. Had takeaway tonight and it was disgusting I ate half the chow mien and threw the rest away. Chips had seemed they were re-cooked very dry and brown chicken was borderline under cooked and poor quality. Won’t be going back sorry.

Have had a takeaway a few times and always enjoyed it. I have ordered in the shop and waited a fair while so I know its all freshly made, and could hear things sizzling out the back. Very helpful guy serving too.

Given the price is not much different to other Chinese takeaways in the area this was very disappointing! Every meat dish the meat was dry and flavourless. The lemon chicken had a bitter after taste and the spring onion and cucmber accompaniament to the dry crispy duck was as dry as old nick! Will not be ordering from here again, ever!

Visited whilst taking part in the nearby Braintree Hockey Club 7s tournament and beer festival (which is highly recommended) and the food was of a good standard.

As a family who live 5 minutes away, this is our local Chinese takeaway. We order from here fairly regularly, usually as a treat for exams or birthdays, etc. We have never been let down by the Silver Bowl and have always enjoyed our food. It's well worth the money and is absolutely delicious, we never order from anywhere else. Thank you, Silver Bowl!

Quite possibly the worst meal we've had from any Chinese take away. Everything was warm/on the verge of cold. Duck - Terribly dry, box was filled mostly with the bones. Hoi sin sauce - SALT OVERLOAD! Rice - Hard, where was the egg?! Chow mein - Greasy. Prawns in yellow bean - Dry and cooked to a crisp! S&S Chicken Cantonese - neither sweet nor sour, disappointing. Chips - They were BROWN!!!!!! Fresh?! ...I think not. So much was left, both in agreement that the majority was inedible. In the bin already. Ill stick to Hong Kong Chef from now on...

This was our regular fish and chip/Chinese take away. In the last few months it has gone downhill. Food has got progressively poorer quality over the last few months. Now they have stopped cooking fish and only Chinese mass orders on Just eat hence, they concentrate more on Just eat orders than their regular customers. Person behind counter with hand down his pants, very young servers who cant get orders correct. Had to go back sever times during the last few months for correction of orders. Today was last straw.........argued with me about the order that I ordered wrong when they did not listen correctly. Manager Andy not very friendly and sometimes bit rude to customers. Not the way to treat regular customers, therefore will not be a customer anymore.

Silver bowl has gone massively down hill recently.. It's always been a bit hit and miss, but being the only chip/Chinese shop that delivers to us we persevere.. Last week a Chinese had the whole family up all night glugging water as it was incredibly salty, fish and Chips tonight absolute pants! Large cod about 6" big! I'd say smaller than standard, chips dry and obviously old! curry sauce inedible as so salty.. A complete waste of money and we are all still hungry. Don't bother trying, Henleys chop shop is so much better if you can jump in your car, eat food from here you will be disappointed.

Not impressed with my fish and chips, large haddock was the same size as the small cod, I literally had to dab the grease from the soggy fish. Overpriced at almost £13, the only good thing was the curry sauce.

Not impressed with the food here. Was ok when we first moved in to the area, but quality and standards have fallen.

Friendly staff who were able to be flexible with a dish we wanted, food was fresh and delicious. Couldn't be happier to find this treasure and visit regularly.

Will only use this takeaway in braintree. Food is always amazing and nice and hot. Pleasant staff. Worth the money

Very prompt delivery, food always piping hot and delicious! Best thing about this takeaway is the variety.

We had been getting our fish and chips here for many many years. Unfortunately on the last few occasions we have been rather disappointed and won't be doing so anymore. The chips are still lovely, as is the batter. But let's be honest, it's the fish itself which is the whole point of the meal and it's this aspect which has been below par recently in our experience. On more than one occasion the fish just hasn't seemed very fresh, a problem we never used to have. We have also been given some very questionable fish portion sizes. We've asked for 'large' portions of fish (and paid for these) and what we've been given can only be described as standard at best. The Chinese is as good as ever (as my earlier review notes), but I can't say the same for the fish and chips. A real shame.

I have had various fish and chips and Chinese meals from the menu of this take away. I have never had bad food and it is always warm and delivered on time (when I have gone for home delivery). I will continue to use and would recommend giving it a try.

The chips here are the best. I don't eat chips very often but this is the only place I buy them. They are cooked perfectly. Love the fish too. They will deliver, but I usually get mine as I am passing on my way home from work. Its nice to have a chat with the staff who are really great. I highly recommend this takeaway.

I'm going to write 2 reviews for the Silver Bowl, one for the Chinese and one for the fish and chips. I think this is necessary as the quality is quite different!We always get our Chinese takeaways from the Silver Bowl and I have to say I think they are fantastic. They have a really nice variety of dishes which are well cooked and excellent value. I've tried pretty much all the Chinese takeaways in the town and in my opinion this easily the best of the lot.

Always had fantastic good value food. I'm lucky I live 2 mins away but everyone in the village uses it! They are very popular and very busy on Fridays and Saturdays. I have a few friends that have come over for Chinese or fish and chips (good choice of menu) and they loved it. Couple of friends live across town and now only go to the silverbowl and since they do delivery makes it so convenient. They have lots of individual dishs including set menus and standard British favourites and a child's section. (Great chips)Never heard any complaints about the food and it is a nice atmosphere to wait if you choose to wait. With newspapers to read and a light nice clean decor.I have been to other chineses in town and portions, price and quality do not even come close.Love the Silverbowl in the midst of Bocking Village.

we only use this chinese, excellent delivery a hidden secret based in broxted def reccommend the king prawn with malaysian satay sauce. 10/10excellent value
