Silktown Fryer in Cheshire East

Lovely food but when taking away I would suggest letting the customers put on their own salt and vinegar because the server DROWNED my food in vinegar and that's all I could taste. £7.50 for a tray of vinegar. Not on.

First time here. Marked as 4 out of 5 purely because they're cash only (makes me wonder if they declare all their income...) Food was amazing, fish was fresh and freshly battered (soooo nice and crispy). Lighting was odd as all the lights were on but the restaurant was dull. Nice clean place with freidnly staff. Not exactly cheap though, £9.50 for small fish and chips and then £11.50 for large fish and chips - can't understand why its so expensive given that chippies locally to where I live are no where near this expensive. However, that said, I will probably come again as it was well worth it!!!

Travelled from Stockport , been in many times for lunch with our little dog, she is no trouble just sits under the table. This time met at the door with a man saying no dogs ,i told him it has never been a problem but no explanation. Fuming i told him where to put it. With an attitude like that its not going to go well.

Not busy, good polite service, cod, chips & peas, bread & butter, pot of tea x2 £ 20 great value. Nice clean toilets & restaurant.one downside cash only.

We had just finished shopping and decided to pop in for some chips, they where the nicest chips I had eaten in a while fresh and crispy And very tasty

Not as good as before . I do admit the chicken burgers were okay but I can’t shake the feeling that the last time I visited , although was some time ago it was so much better. The chips I have always depended on were no up to parr and simply disappointing ( it tasted like water !) . All in all a underwhelming chippy experience.

I had fish, chips and peas. It was cooked well and tasted great. Just what I needed after a very busy day at work. Many thanks, will be back next Monday.

My last visit was ok, despite the poor reviews. Sadly, on this occasion my chips, whilst looking really good, were not cooked, some were still raw.

The staff are extremely rude. For instance, when I was getting my order they huffed and were trying to move on from us even though nobody else was there. They also got our order incorrect. First time I went there and never going back. i don't advice going there...

Dont visit chippies that often and nearly didn't come here due to the poor reviews. In all honesty my pudding, chips and peas was very nice and the service was good. The only down side was the plates were only just bigger than a saucer.

I came into the chippy with my friends and can not believe the terrible service that they provided. My order was messed up, the people who served me was rude, a few of the chips they gave me were mouldy and cold I do not recommend this!!

Firstly the customer service is horrendous took our order then proceeded to talk to another person who was not a customer, got to stage where another worker tried to check on my order repeated may but was repeatedly ignored by him. The friend then had to step in and tell them to do my order. So the other worker then proceeded to do my order and kept messing it up when me and my friend had to tell them several times our order. THEN they decided to put salt on the chips first instead of vinegar, and then forgot my large chips after reminding them. We then left the premises and realised that they forgot my drink. I am never coming back again and I highly recommend you don’t either.

Walked in, looked at the choice of food, saw the prices, considered visiting the bank to apply for a second mortgage, decided against it, went home.

As always a lovely fish and chip shop to visit, plenty of seating, clean looking and generous portions for a good price. Always come in with my partner and we still agree this is the best in Macclesfield. Thanks guys 🙂🙂

Passed up on my normal fish, chips and peas for pudding chips and peas. Portion wasn't great, and a little pricey for what you got. But it was quite acceptable.

Fish and chips as always. Not top shelf, but still pretty good. Certainty wouldn't put anyone off from visiting.

Came into the shop after not visiting for around a year due to poor food quality and thought likley changes have been made so hopefully will be all good, turns out I was wrong. Chips undercooked and potato all yellow and hard inside. Paid £4.95 for a meal deal to which half the tray was filled with chips so instantly I thought thats a bit out of order but hey food might be alright. Chips are cut too large and not cooked long enough. Outside all soggy and inside still hard almost as though they have been using old potatoes. Also gravy tastes very artificial almost similar to vegetarian beef gravy. Would not recommend. Safe to say I will not be revisiting.

Came here on treacle market day so was quite busy. Tables were messy and slow to clean up. Food portions were small if you sit inside. Staff were rude. Food was niceish just could of done with more.

Good prices and the food was freshly cooked, good size portions at a good price. Very helpful staff, and free WiFi

Fantastic portions and if you can get a smaller one, 2 fish chips and peas and b&b; for £10.60, got to be worth a visit, food cooked to perfection, and friendly service.

Came here the other day & sat in. Was shocked at the prices.. I ordered chicken bites at £4.70 for eight which were Greasy & tasteless the chips were uncooked & the staff seemed like they didn't want to be there. I left feeling like I had been robbed the prices are shocking & will definitely not be going again!

Friendly welcoming staff lots of room waitress service lovely plateful of food beautiful tasting fish well worth a visit and very reasonably priced fish chips mushy peas bread and butter and a pot of tea under £10 served on lovely fish shaped plates...boss even gave me one thank you very much

Things don't last forever, and the standard of this place has not lasted very long.

The quality seems to get better everytime i go! Really recommend the fish bites great value and really tasty, portion is enough for two with chips!

We were visiting Macclesfield for the monthly Treacle Market. Despite the array of food stalls on the market, we decided to have lunch at the Silktown Fryer.

It wasnt busy and the restaurant had only been open about 40 mins.One dirty table with spilt milk by me and litter all under the table.Not good ! Staff need to be more effiecient to clean up.

The burgers are great, their fish and chips is lovely too. Staff are always helpful and friendly. A great selection on the menu.

Have been here many times always good and staff very helpful and efficient. Good sized helpings and fresh from the pan, Even get a good pot of tea. No fancy tables but very clean.

Popped in today at lunchtime for the 1st time. Macclesfield is struggling for a decent chippy since the old owners left Pete's chippy. I ordered fish, chips and mushy peas...most of it ended up in the bin. You can tell frozen fish from its woolly texture and lack of taste. The fish was also raw in the middle. The batter was thick and greasy, the chips were passable. I won't be returning.

The silktown fryer works great as a sit in and take out fish and chips shop, the chips are cooked well and they have a good menu, the fish isn't too battered witch i think is good and they give good portions. I do suggest you dine in as it has a nice family friendly atmosphere, fair prices on the food, however they probably vairy if you choose too eat in, the staff service is a little poor, would probably recommend this place to anyone who happens to be in the area and fancies some nice fish and chips or something else of the menu.

Not just a takeaway but lots of room to sit down inside. A very reasonable fish, chips, mushy peas, bread & butter, and a pot of tea for under a tenner. Lots of other options on the menu too.

Takeaway fish and chips for two on a Saturday evening. Good service and reasonable quality food - the chips were a touch undercooked and the fish portion sizes a bit erratic - one a bit small. But overall it was fine.

Fresh, clean premises, long opening hours. Food always fresh. Reasonable prices. Eat in or takeaway. Will visit again!

I sometimes go after work when tired and do not want to cook. The fish is fresh, white,and tastes great.

We have been eating at the fryer for around 2 years, never had a bad meal yet. The fish is always fresh and plentiful and always comes with a wedge of lemon.

Gorgeous fish and chips right in the centre of town. The specials are great value for money and the service is always welcoming and friendly. Good kids menu too. Great little place.
