Great chippy! Always crispy chips and generous portions 🍟

Quite possibly the best fish and chips. I am pleased to say that they have won 5 years of TNFC - "The National Fish & Chips" and I love the food. If you are in the area, try them.

Been buying our weekly treat of fish, chips and mushy peas, since Hooked first opened its doors. Tastes like no other!! Gorgeous!!🥰 Not the cheapest!! but portions , generous to say the least!! I've said for a few years now that we needed a good chippy, ( in every way) so here we have it!! Well done staff, you work hard to give us quality food. 😘x Update!! -Would like you all to know, we got our usual fish, large chips, two peas and one curry sauce two weeks ago on our way home only to end up throwing away. Chips and fish were soooo tough and dry we couldn't eat them!! Complained via email-- but no one came back.-- £17 for what we got -- Deeply disappointing when we have been regular customers since opening --and always given good recommendations.

My chicken bites and strips smelt and tasted like fish. Unfortunately this has put me off. I can't believe a chip shop that charges these sort of prices puts in such little effort.

Used to be the best around but sadly - overpriced standard of food has dropped won’t be bothering again there’s better around.

Was in Knutsford for the day.Looking for a chippy and the lady in the sweet shop told me about Hooked on the Heath. I had a battered sausage and chips,was not disappointed.Chips were excellent and the batter on the sausage was nice and not greasy!The staff were cheerful. Will definetly pop in next time I visit Knutsford.Prices are very good considering the town is seen by some as being "posh" so well done to the owners for not charging over the odds! Some chippys in Manchester should take a leaf out of this chippy's book. Portions impressive also. Thank you for adding to what was an enjoyable day.

I have been pleased with the food here on lots of previous occasions. However, yesterday Sat 25th May, I asked for two lightly battered fish and chips. The fish were definitely not lightly battered. It was completely dry and the batter was thick. It was good quality cod ruined. The chips were also dry and hard. Very disappointed so won't be coming back again.

Generally speaking bang average when price is not considered. Average-poor when it is. Fish and chips with a can of pop will set you back £12 if you’re fancying peas or gravy add an additional £1.80. Unfortunately it is the only show in town so I do return here.

I popped into this chippy for the first time for my tea. I ordered haddock and chips. There was a bit of a wait however it was peak time on a Friday evening. The service was good however I felt a bit let down with my meal. The fish didn't taste as fresh as I thought it would have. I also couldn't taste the vinegar which supposedly had been added. Would not go back in a rush to be honest.

Presentation and staff were very good, food looks great but found the chips and gravy to be tasteless, couldn't eat them all as too hard. The scampi was nicely cooked, but again the batter seems to lack any taste. It is very expensive too, £11 something for chips, gravy and scampi. Wouldn't come back.

I love fish and chips. Daughter wanted a chippy tea for her birthday yesterday. We ordered, and paid for a sausage for her - the thing she was looking forward to. Sadly we didn’t get one. This is something that happens sometimes - things get overlooked. What we found completely unforgivable was the fish. Cardboard would look at our fish and be jealous at just how dry and tasteless it was. I have had many an over-cooked fish, but this was something uniquely terrible. The batter was welded to it. To get something this dry takes talent and neglect. We were thinking maybe re-fryingfrom the day before, freezer burn or just seriously old fish? Whatever the reason, I won’t be wasting any money there again.

We used to be regulars but last 6 months we go less, more in the hope that its good. The fish is overcooked, some pieces don't taste nice and the batter is stuck to the fish … a good chippy serves light batter. The chips are overcooked and hard, only a few decent sized chips in the box the rest all short end pieces. Its just not the same as it was, if you run a chippy you should know how to make batter and at these prices a decent size fresh chips. Its all overcooked.

Absolutely awful. Steak pie. Couldn't find the steak . Chips are of a strange taste. Like low grade frozen chips then deep fried. Then they give you small shot of gravy. Just a rip off . Won't be going back.

Sausage was covered with pieces of fish batter, and chicken bites also tasted fishy. Would recommend in future to keep different foods separate in the heat compartment for people who do not eat/like the taste of fish. After they removed my sausage from the heater they placed more fish on top of the remaining sausages. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stomach to eat anything apart from the chips, and will not be reordering in the future.

Great food but every time I go the staff on the front counter don't seem interested, maybe some training is needed a simple " hello how can I help you" would go a long way The only reason I continue going is there's no other chippy

Best fish & chips we've had in years. Chips were slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. A lovely light crispy batter to the fish, which was chunky rather than flaky. And no excess grease. Plenty of salt & vinegar. Really tasty and delicious. Highly recommended. Will definitely stop by again. Congratulations to the staff.

* First time user and will be the last time - very disappointed and found it over priced * Very basic menu not much variety for a chippy (Only leek and ham pie or steak & kidney pudding to choose from - where’s the typical traditional chippy choices - meat & potato/cheese & onion/chicken & mushroom pies) * portion sizes not the best (as the menu had such a poor selection to choose from and I’d saved myself all day to indulge in a takeaway I ordered a large chips and gravy and for over £5 I got about 25 chips) * To avoid disappointment I would suggest visiting your local supermarket and getting the items in and cooking it yourself, it’ll also save you some money at the same time.

The worst fish and chips I ever had chips are all bits and hard, the fish overcooked and dry and the peas were solid in the pot dried up and disgusting never going again spent an absolute fortune for 4 adults and 2 children for a load of crap. The good reviews must be made up.

I don't know how anyone can rate this place less than a 5... the best fish and chips in Cheshire. Hands down. I'd probably say the whole of the UK, but I haven't got around to em all.

Been going here and normally food good. . Tonight waited 28 minutes to get food. The chips were barely cooked so tasted hard and the fish batter awful. Paid a lot and couldn’t eat it .

Ordered for the 2nd time online. Get there at 6.45pm as per online time, again not ready !! They then serve me a Cod the size of a mars bar and expect me to be okay with this !! Told them to take it back and serve me something that represents the £7.50 they charge just for Cod. Guy behind the counter challenges me as to why I’m complaining and then agrees to make me a fresh one. This is the second time this has happened in the space of 4 weeks. I’m giving this place a miss for the foreseeable future and I would recommend other people to do the same. I live in Knutsford but will be driving out to Charlie’s in Mobberley or even Fosters in Alderley Edge. Avoid Hooked On the Heath as it’s going downhill rapidly due to the other disgruntled customers that have had similar experiences.

Fish was overcooked and very dry. Whole dish too oily. Pure quality in relation to quite high prices.

I ordered a large cod and large chips £7.30 cod and £4.25 chips .I have seen bigger fish fingers and for the large chips what a joke .this chip shop needs to go and look at the Big fish in wilmslow and see what you get for your money. Will not be going there again. Sorry I didn't take a photo of the LARGE cod

no cheese pie on the menu which is a little disapponting food was okay. curry sauce very nice and food portions we fine. staff very short and not welcoming at all. the girl who served spent the whole time playing with her piercings in her ear when we ordered and then went on to serve food without washing hands.. I have piercings and sometimes they do need readjusting but never when speaking with a customer and certainly not without washing hands after...

We had one mini cod meal, which was great value. However the regular cod was absolutely incredible. Great quality fish and cooked to perfection. I would also recommend the Curry sauce

First time we bought fish and chips a few months ago they were so good. Was looking forward to eating from there again tonight but was so disappointed, the fish was ok but the chips we couldn't eat as they were so under cooked. Will think twice before going there again.

Absolutely rubbish. Food salted to the point of being inedible. Portions small and fish bland. At around £25 for fish and chips with sauce/sides twice, you could spend an extra couple of pounds and get the same meal in a pub and served to a table. If my order was served in a restaurant it would have been sent back. As others have said, prices have gone up and both quality and quantity have gone down. Have been a customer since this place opened but won’t be going again. Whoever owns this place needs to take some action or it won’t be there much longer.

We always have a good experience at Hooked! I often call by in the summer to collect numerous meals for the busy farmers we have at home harvesting. I called in again 2 weeks last Saturday and a lovely chap served me. Always tasty and hot!

5th visit so far this year, fantastic quality haddock and chips, cooked fresh, great service from the young team who take pride in the quality and service👍 Nice to see a group of young people getting stuck in to provide a great product, pity its 25 miles away otherwise l would visit more often, thanks guys and gals👏👏👏 Been staying in Aberdeenshire and it's up there with the best👍

Absolutely appalling food and customer service! … COLD chips and WARM fish! No HOT food whatsoever.. staff were grumpy too…overall a shocking experience! Not worth digesting!! keep your money in your pocket and go else where!! ( my 3rd time here by the way… 1st time was a couple months of the first opening it was amazing! 2nd time RAW chips! 3rd time is the above! NEVER AGAIN!!

Not fresh chips and battered sausage dry and over cooked. Quite a terrible experience. My colleague didn't receive his gravy as paid for on takeaway...

5 star rating all the way for us as chefs we expect the best and we definitely got that. Light crisp batter big meaty pieces of cod freshly cooked not soggy and very tasty Chips excellent, mushy peas and curry sauce top grade only gripe could be a larger portion. Came all the way from warrington on recommendation and want to go again tonight lol. WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!

Husband ordered gluten free cod, chips and mushy peas plus a normal sausage and chips. Fish lovely, not greasy at all and you wouldnt know the batter was gluten free. Peas also nice. Chips however where disgusting. Hard and dry as if overcooked or reheated. What topped it was the mega reaction I had straight after eating. I've had a gluten free diet for over 5 years now and am quite particular about my safe places to eat. I also understand the risk of cross contamination. Never has a chip shop advertising GF got me as usually it's served after a complete clean/oil change. Final thought- dont be fooled by fancy packaging, thats what your money is paying for. Better quality elsewhere (wrapped in paper). Won't be ordering again.

The fish and chips were appalling they were overcooked and dry we paid £39 very disappointing.

if you have to wait for 10 mins from ordering for a mini fish and chips, you would expect they would be fresh, yes? sadly no. really disappointed, the chips were rock hard, like they have been cooked and cooked and cooked again. was asked if i would like salt and vinegar, yes please, loads!. open the box walking back to the car. no salt or vinegar. the worst £12 spent in any chippy sadly. the staff are dead friendly and the place is nice and clean though.

I visited last night for the first time since the beginning of the year.I have not had a bad meal before but last night the chips were like they had been recooked as they were hard and crispy,the fish were very small compared to previous times we have been here but yet they have hiked up the prices and now give less .won't be making our way to them again.

Just bought my family’s tea and most of the food went in the bin, I regularly eat from here but won’t be doing for a good while now. Chips was raw and tasted horrible, absolutely terrible food.

We recently had Hooked cater for our wedding evening food. We ordered boxes of chips, fish and chips and sausage and chips alongside mushy peas, gravy and curry sauce. Everyone loved them, the fish went within the first 10 minutes and people were going back for seconds. The individual boxes were great too and it all looked lovely. Can't recommend enough.

Simply the best 'chippy' in Knutsford!

Bought cod and chips on Monday night (approximately 8pm), chips were reheated and very stale, fish was quite well done and dry. Very disappointing when charged over £10. Just shows a lack of care and attention to detail.

Let down by getting the order wrong. Ordered 2 curry got 2 gravy. Not worth cold food to go back at time but it did spoil tea. As we don't like gravy.

Thought we would have a bank holiday treat and pay extra to get food from hooked on the heath. Service was great and staff super friendly but the food quality isn’t the best. The haddock was very thin and the cos was chewy and didn’t taste fresh. The sides are tiny and for the price at £34 for 3 lots of fish and chips, one curry and one mushy peas you would expect more. The chips were greasy too and I don’t think I would return which is a shame as we have had food from here before and it was much better.

Always ask for your fish to be boxed separately because if it is added to your chips the batter becomes soggy. Maybe now they do this? Chips could be better as they are always white in colour which to me means undercooked.

My partner Diana owned a english fish and chips shop for many years and was plesed at the high quality offered. 👌

First visit, ordered in advance as we were passing through. Food was just being boxed up when I arrived so it was piping hot. We had fish ( light crispy batter) & chips and ham, chicken & leek pie. Chips are some of the best we’ve had. Would definitely call in again.

I'm sorry but the chips were not fresh and rewarmed and haddock came as 2 small pieces and was really greasy. We are regular customers here and apart from once before (same problem) have been excellent, had to throw away this time and reluctant to come back

The best fish and chips that I have tasted in a long time. The cod was chunky and a generous portion. My partner had haddock was excellent. I used to own a fish and chips for many years and so I know when the quality is good and correctly fried. I can highly recommend Hooked on the Heath. That is way I gave have them 5 stars

It’s consistently good, people are normally polite, and thank God we have a good chippy in Knutsford at last. Hope locals continue to support it, every town needs a good chippy.
