Called in on the way through as I always do when I'm in the area. Really great chippy. Great food and efficient service. Highly recommended. *cash only though.

This place was recommended by a local. We went there for fish and chips and was happy with food nd service. The fish was beautifully battered served nice and hot with hand made chips. I would go again

I live in Audlem but now pick my f&c’s up in Nantwich. The quality is hugely variable plus they only take cash! Talk about stuck in the dark ages. They must be loosing masses of busines.

We were looking forward to a lovely supper as we had had some years ago. We ordered two portions of regular fish and small peas. The serving lady was rude to my wife regarding the container it came in and the food, except perhaps for the peas, was terrible. The batter was not cooked and was an uneatable soggy mess. And it was debatable as to whether the fish was properly cooked or not. And way more expensive than our normal venues at £15.10. Give it a miss.

Staying in Audlem at a holiday home and decided to use this chippy. It really was excellent fish and chips, perfectlyfried, delicious. Highly recommended 10/10.

WONDERFUL fish and chips and excelent service. We went yesterday as visited Audlem Mill (see sep review), and got a bag of fish and chips. The folks in there are really lovely and the fish and chips were excellent and a fair price for food these days!

Order fish chips and peas to take away. Completely disappointing, soggy batter on fish, truly the worst tasting chips ever with back bits and again flaccid and soggy, peas bland and tasteless. I know times are different with costs etc but we paid £16.00 for this and most of it went in the bin. We don’t have fish and chips often but in the past they have been great and I would usually recommend the chippy to anyone. Maybe hopefully just a blip?

Always willing to go the extra mile- I call in for lunches for our residents and they will accommodate our every need! Good always fresh and you are guaranteed a very warm welcome.

Very disappointed. The batter on the fish was not cooked enough it left the fish when plated it was soggy. The chips were very soggy also.

Best chippy in the area. Great quality food cooked to order so guaranteed fresh..pleasant friendly staff. Owners wife makes a beautiful home made chilli con carne and chicken curry both available with chips at a great price on the specials board. I regularly enjoy a meal from my local chippy. Highly recommended

Really nice chips friendly staff

I was on my way home from work, absolutely shattered. Needed a bite to eat to help me complete another hour of driving. I asked what was recommended and they suggested the Cod. So I had Cod and Chips and it was absolutely delicious. Cooked fresh, the fish was nice and white, it flaked nicely just as fish should. The batter was light so it didn't overpower the fish, and it was not oily at all. Chips were cooked perfectly and tasted of potato chips. The free pot of tartare sauce was great also. Service from the staff was friendly and helpful. The suggestion was spot on. Overall I am extremely happy, and if I didn't live an hours drive away, I would certainly visit more often.

Been visiting the chippy once or twice a month since the change of ownership, but find the quality varies, especially let down by the fish which seems to suffer from somewhat stodgy batter, seemingly caused the batter mix itself, rather than bad cooking. It's just not light or crispy. The chips seem to vary a lot too, from really nice sometimes, to rather soggy, as though they are not cooked hot enough? Also it's frustrating that they never seem to have any fish out cooked ready to buy and all has to be cooked to order, so usually a long wait, then ultimately rushed and I don't understand this at peak times at all. Had the roast chicken recently, but that was really excellent.👍🏻 The staff need to visit nearby Shavington Fish bar, this might help them understand where they are going wrong.

A long time since I’ve been to the Audlem chip shop. It was a lovely fish supper and I won’t leave it as long next time.

Takeaway lunch for 4, excellent service friendly staff everything is cooked to order so lovely and fresh. I had the smaller fish and it was plenty, lovely white chunks of cod with nice crispy batter. Chips were nice too not at all greasy. Will definitely be back Please note it was cash only.

Called by for fish and chips and was pleasantly surprised to see how busy the shop was with both counter and telephone orders. The staff worked hard to satisfy the orders in a timely manner and produced high quality food which was delicious and plentiful. Happy to recommend based on our experience today and will visit again when back in the area.

What a lovely friendly organised chip shop spoke to the staff like I'd known them for years despite it being my first visit to there shop . The fish was cooked freshly and tasted beautifully and wasn't full of grease the chips freshly cooked and were even given treats for our dogs that were patiently waiting outside .

We visited the Village Chippy whilst on a narrowboat holiday. very clean (however the aroma of strong disinfectant was a little overpowering) and staff very efficient. A chippy used by locals and can be busy at times however good portions of fish and chips were worth waiting for. A short walk from the canal.

Have used the chippy twice in the last few weeks. First time was excellent, couldn’t fault them, lovely crispy batter and well seasoned excellent chips. Used again this evening and based on our last experience was really looking forward to it. I was so disappointed, we had to wait nearly 40 minutes for our food, lesson.earns will order in advance next time but that wasn’t the on.y issue. The batter was really soggy not like previous visit and they forgot the mushy peas, which we didn’t notice until we got home!

Good chippy food and friendly service and not too expensive and would recommend to anyone visiting audlem and decide on a nice chippy tea for a change.

Popped in after a canal walk, Fabulous fish and chips, freshly cooked, good size meaty fish, delicious batter and lovely fresh proper chip shop chips. The home made Tar Tar sauce is also delicious!! Excellent value for money especially compared to London prices!!! Fully recommend, looking forward to coming back on may next visit. Delicious, thank you very much!!!

Tasty but, as they were bought near midday closing time, they were not too hot. Audlem is a nice stop off point and the municipal carpark is adjacent to the chippy.

Cod to die for! We travel over 25 miles to get our fish & chips here. It just melts in your mouth. The price also is very competitive & in COVID regulations we feel entirely safe.

Without doubt the worst Fish and Chips I have ever had and it cost £26 for the privilege. Pale, undercooked flavourless chips and equally pale and greasy soggy mess of a fish. 3x Cod and chips straight in the bin. What a waste of money!...

I have to say that as a regular customer, what keeps me coming back for more is the top quality food The Village Chippy consistently provides our community. Also the friendly welcome by the Staff. Fish is cooked to order and is freshly cooked to perfection. My Son travels from Nantwich especially for Fish and Chips, despite numerous options there, but he insists that The Village Chippy is THE destination for Fish and Chips, and he is very fussy. Fantastic, fresh, quality Fish and Chips at a great price. The Staff are efficient, keeping waiting times to an absolute minimum, the premises are kept spotlessly clean. They have also been there for the community throughout COVID-19, operating within the guidelines and all that entails, whilst maintaining quality food and excellent service. A much valued Village asset.

So disappointing. Expensive and very slow service. The chips were undercooked and greasy. The fish was tasteless and most of the batter was slimy. They need to work on customer service. Not a friendly place. We will not be repeating this experience

Had fish cake and chips with a chicken. £7.50...gulp. I guess you’re paying for the convenience, so I did. Enjoyed eating chips whilst overlooking the field opposite. Tasted fine.

We ordered the jumbo cod but had regretted it as it was very oily and heavy. It became soggy as soon as we opened it up. We wish we had gone for the small cod and chips and that would have been less soggy.

Cod was real and the small one we had was crispy and flavoursome. Could do with more crunchy chips as by the time we took them home it turned soggy.

A few neighbours in the village mentioned that they’d had awful fish and chips but circumstances meant one night that I went regardless - i took a leap of faith as I live in the village and make a point of trying to support local businesses but unless something changes then I won’t be giving them my custom again. The fish was soggy and wet and the chips were not cooked enough - almost hard - I actually didn’t eat them neither did my husband- just a side note... they don’t take card which can be a pain and it was honestly inedible - we use another fish and chip shop 8 miles away now as do our 2 sets of neighbours which is excellent, fish full of flavor in beautiful crisp batter and beautifully cooked chips. It is such a shame - please sort it and also maybe the main man could not look like you have massively inconvenienced him by merely walking in.

Fortunately, there are public toilets opposite so you can throw up the gopping puke that they serve up.

No taste to the sausages at all

A good traditional Fish & Chip shop well worth stopping for. There is amply parking opposite so you could eat them in the car. Ideal for a hungry family on the way home and Mum not wanting to cook!

Been twice now. Fish tastes good and fresh. Agree with some of comments that batter and chips is a bit soft but I usually put that down to the journey home so don't get too critical about it. It's fish and chips and it's handy and convenient.
