On the way back from our vacation, we came across this fish and chips by chance. Well it was delicious, with very good value for money. The scampi was also perfect. The portion of medium frit is actually huge 😅. In short, nice surprise. You can eat on the terrace opposite. Ps: the kindness and efficiency of the team.

Passed this fish and chip shop today and on a couple of recommendations I bought fish and chips that evening. There was quite a queue which is always a good sign. The fella at the friers was very chatty and welcoming speaking to everyone who entered the shop. Servers were very friendly and smiled when taking orders and serving. The shop was clean and tidy and the fish and chips were first rate. Chips cooked to perfection. Batter was light and crispy and the fish was moist and fresh. One of the best chippies I’ve visited in years and would highly recommend it to anyone passing. They also sell pies, sausage and the like as well as gravy that looked really thick and rich. I intended to take photos but after the first bite it was gone before I knew it.

Whether you're the only person in (which doesn't happen often) or the shop is full and queuing outside you will be acknowledged as an individual. Staff are always polite. Food is great and can order ahead if don't want to wait. You will also receive a goodbye and take care as you leave. Really do value their customers!

Stopped off here on way through the area. Very pleased i did. The service was excellent and I was immediately asked if I wanted anything cooking. All fish is cooked freshly in front of you so I plumbed for the fish and chips with beans. Very very nice and a good size portion. I had a can as well and bill was £9.50. Good prices, excellent food and excellent service. Will definitely be back!

I stayed in Middlewich a few years ago, and the fish and chips were delicious. I was told that they still are, and was really looking forward to today's fish and chips. Sadly, for me, at least a third of the chips were dried out, the fish was dry and the batter was dry and hard. I'd gone in at about 1.20pm. They close at 1.45pm. The fish had already been cooked and was sitting in the warming cabinet. The best aces I have been to in the past year cook fish to order, so it is always fresh. If I do go there again, I'll go when it's busy, and their food doesn't have time to sit around drying out. Very disappointing.

The best gluten free fish I've had (and I've tried a lot). It's such a treat to eat batter again. Chips and great and a very generous portion. Friendly staff, amazing to watch on a busy Friday evening. Well done guys!

Don’t do take away or take out food but we do this chip shop for our fish and chips , owner and son and staff are friendly and the service is impeccable and the food is as it should be..

Moving up from the Southwest I was worried the chip shop’s up here wouldn’t cut it. We were pointed in the direction of the Kings Lock and have been nowhere else since, the shop is amazing. Food is great, portions and quality excellent, the staff are so friendly and efficient! Steak pudding…….Where have you been all of my life!!! No longer will I suffer with a crusty old Pukka pie!

Was just visiting the area, and the pub staff across the road recommended it as they weren't serving food. I ordered my food, then went back for a couple of pints and picked my order up right on their closing time. Lovely fish and lovely staff.

Stopped at Middlewich overnight on my boat and decided to try the kings Lock chippy, First the young people serving were so friendly and then had the best fish chips mushy peas and curry I have had all year, amazing little chippy.

Regional food, family service, unique atmosphere.

Called in here today as i was passing through. Chips were nice and hot. Fish cake was over done and slightly black around the edges and the sausage tasted just of grease. Not overly impressed

One of the best chippys I've been too. O ly had chips peas and gravy but it was sooooo nice, definitely going here again if I ever pass through.

Friendly staff, quick service and good food

Visited twice whilst passing through on our narrowboat. Massive queues both times, which is always a good indicator for decent grub. Amazing how quick the queues go down because of how well the staff (family I think) all work together, like a well oiled machine. Lovely people and great food. We had the chips, gravy, fish, and we were particularly impressed by the homemade fishcakes yum. Quality chippy, nice and fresh.

We were passing through Middlewich on our narrowboat and called in about eight o’clock after a pint in the excellent Kings Lock opposite. There was a steady stream of locals but we were greeted with a friendly smile, and served quickly by a super efficient and friendly team. The fish and chips were 10/10. This “chippy” shows what excellent fast food and efficient service can be. WE’LL BE BACK!

Was told by the pub opposite that this was the best fish and chip shop on the canal network. I think that they were right. The fish was haddock and the peas were very good - soaked by them every day. Very reasonable. Three small fish chips and peas came to £19.50.

Best traditional chippy in the local area. The owner and staff are polite and work hard to serve amazing food. It can get very busy in there but that just goes to show how good they are in comparison to the other fish and chip shops in the town. Food is always consistent and delicious and reasonably priced as well. Would highly reccomend.

After a frustrating visit last December when we found the chippy closed, this year we were reassured by an up to date facebook entry with all the festive opening hours so called in on our way past. Great fish and chips as per previous visits, and happy cheerful staff.

I rarely have fish and chips but these were excellent. Great portion and really good fish.

It is a fish and chip shop run by locals. A large portion of fried fish costs £5.10, but after tasting the tender and smooth fish, you will feel that it is worth the money. Opposite is the canal lock water attraction, I believe there will be more customers during the holidays. , please note that the store will be closed after noon.

Nipped in on a Friday lunchtime whilst out working, got myself a scampi, chips, scallop and gravy, came to I think £6 which isn't too bad for value, good solid English style chips, proper scampi, nice fluffy yet crispy scallop and average gravy (wish I'd have gone for the curry tbh) however all in all a good chippy lunch. Staff pleasant, friendly and helpful and would definitely return when working out that way. Thumbs up 👍👍👍

Great family run Chippy. My order was cooked for me straight away. Excellent fish and chips, best ever. The atmosphere in the shop was friendly and welcoming. I live a drive away but it will always be my first port of call for fish and chips.

After queuing from outside, which is fine after 30mins I finally my turn to be served!. A phone order customer works in, their food is not made!.. so I am told to wait !. Not acceptable, I walked out and will never return!. This is not on!. Shame on you!

I have never been disappointed with this chippy a good portion size of fish and chips, freshly cooked battered fish white and flaky cod.

I've never been able to fault this place, best chippy I've been too by far, staff are always friendly and the food is lovely. You can even ring in your order which saves you waiting in the queue. If its raining take an umbrella as it isnt the biggest and you might have to wait outside.

Staying overnight locally I popped in for a delicious Pudding, chips and gravy - difficult to get where I live down south and being a Northern its sorely missed! Lovely friendly staff and food was delicious and fresh - would highly recommend and will be back when back in the area

Usually a good stopping point from the canal, checked it would be open today and timed our journey accordingly. Unfortunately it is closed despite all adverts saying it is open. No sign on the door with opening times either. Disappointed.

First time visitor and we weren’t disappointed. Great food, great prices and very friendly staff. Food was served quickly and they took the time to talk us through some menu items. Some of the best fish and chips we’ve had (and the gravy was fab).
