Best indian restaurant for miles around

Food was fantastic and service was on the whole very good. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by a rowdy table next to us, which was handled extremely poorly by the manager. His intervention resulted in the group of woman hurling abuse at us in front of the entire restaurant, which was not dealt with at all. We followed up with a phone call to express how upset we were by the experience. The manager failed to listen to my complaint and was not taking responsibility for how he exacerbated the situation. I feel really saddened by the whole experience.

We had a family meal here to mark the end of our holiday. Staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely make the effort to come back again (and we're from Cornwall!).

We went to Silchar for the first time this evening as a party of 8 at 6.30pm At the time we arrived the restaurant was quite quiet and within a couple of minutes tha waiter took our order for starters. It took 30 minutes to arrive (7.10pm) which seemed a long time considering. Main courses were then ordered which then did not arrive until 8.10pm. They bought my main course out on its own, then everyone else just got an empty plate. It took 10 minutes to get the rest of the orders on the table and they had forgotten one of the party's main. My meal was a chicken tikka curry for £11.99 which consisted of 5 bits of chicken and a bit of sauce, the add a portion of pilau rice and a keema naan came to over £20 which I thought was expensive considering the portion sizes. When booking this table, we were told we had 2 hours in which to eat. When the last of the main courses came out, we were at 1 hour and 50 minutes. During the whole time we were there, on one ever came and apologised for the wait or whether everything was OK. I was expecting better service considering this is an award winning restaurant. I shall not be returning to this restaurant again and will instead frequent my local Indian restaurant which has fantastic service, great quality food and really good value.

This place was such a breath of fresh air....staff were friendly, food was the best I have tasted outside of my favourite in Leicester and tables spaced perfectly. Will 100% be back....

What an amazing restaurant! My first visit. From the moment you walk in to when you leave the service was second to none. The staff attended to all your needs, polite, smartly dressed and friendly. From when we sat down to when the food was ordered their task was to ensure you were made comfortable with everything, even if you have food diatry requirements. It was no trouble, you are made so welcome it was as if you were their family. I will be back to explain more soon. Keep up the good work. Hopefully with photos next time. The man with the caine.

Worst takeaway EVER. in my life I cannot understand why they have received so many honours. The chicken was so dry the sauce which went missing was very bland. Seriously, the worst take away Ive had in 35 years... such a let down. Maybe they had an off day.

First time we have been to the Silchar. we visited on a Sunday. There was a buffet menu but we chose off the main menu. Really good selection of food.All of the dishes we ordered were well presented, hot, fresh and very tasty! understandable why they have won so many awards! Highly recommended we will definitely be going back soon!

Whether dining in or takeaway, this is one of if not the best place to eat in Hinckley. Incredible staff and incredible service!

On the buffet menu some dishes were cold (kebab), some sauces (chutney) served for poppadums were sweet, The meal I had was very good well presented and delicious. Listened to 1980's bollywood music, should have been more current music.

Huge portions of excellently prepared food.

I rate the food and service very highly, the atmosphere is also ok. But there is so much noise at the Sunday "Swedish" table that it makes you feel discouraged... Next time I will go at a different time. But overall, I highly recommend it

It's not a great place. The food is overpriced and not very good, having travelled India on several occasions, I struggle to find food that's authentic. This place is some of the worst I've had, and the service was not the best. There were many, many staff on shift, but as a group, we found the service poor.

My friend and I visited early evening. Used to visit frequently but haven't been for a few years. Asked to sit somewhere warm, and the gentleman said that the heating was on and sat us in a corner at the rear of the restaurant. We were disappointed that the offer wasn't on but chose our meals anyway. The food was lovely, very tasty and the waiter was very accommodating when my friend realised she had forgotten to mention she wanted hers mild-medium. During the wait between courses the temperature dropped and there was a distinct draught. My friend indicated to the waiter that we were a bit chilly and they turned the heating back on. At the end of a pleasant meal a different waiter approached with hot towels, commenting that he'd brought some hot towels so we could make ourselves even more hot. We were slightly taken aback as there was no humour in his tone, and he disappeared sharpish. My friend asked if he was being sarcastic, I said it was very rude but countered, that maybe it was a failed attempt at banter. Still very confused, we never asked for them to do anything extra, other to not be seated in a draught. Spoilt an otherwise excellent evening. Food was absolutely lovely, shame about the young waiter at the end

Excellent food, great atmosphere and service. But do not buy the soft drinks there! £6.10 for a large lime and soda, added £12 to our bill.

I've been attending this restaurant for many years and the food and service has been consistently good. But what occurred last night was completely unacceptable!! We (a group of 7) booked a table a week ago but was told we needed to preorder which we did. However, on the night of the meal a member of our party took ill last thing and was unable to attend. We notified the restaurant on our arrival and told them to cancel his order. However, even though we had only just sat down, they said they had already prepared the starter, maincourse and sides (which obviously wasn't true) and they said they would be charging us regardless. We reminded them several times not to bring the food out but they insisted and said "we're going to be charging you for this, so we've got to bring it out" What's more, when a member of our group had to leave early due to a family emergency, he went to the till to pay for everything he had eaten and drank but the manager refused to let him pay his bill until he paid towards the meal of the person who was unwell - the meal we told them not to prepare. You got this very wrong Silchar. We will be dining elsewhere in future.

I have never been a fan of Indian food. The service and delicious food has changed my mind. The staff where very friendly and very helpful.

The reasturant is inviting and good decor inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food portions were just right and very tasty. The complementary offer for free desserts from a selection of cakes was a nice touch, but was to full but well thought out. Would recommend.

Where do I start we walk in the restaurant great customer service amazing and the food was amazing and the price was not bad and very single food we had it lovely and we 100% return there again the best Indian food I have had in a really long time thank u keep up the hard work

We were invited to celebrate a birthday and had the all you can eat buffet but I defy anyone to even manage a little of everything available as the choice was vast. Everything was superb and the flavours varied. Service was good and the dining area carpeted which made conversation so much easier than in those stark, modern places which sound more like school canteens than pleasant places to eat. Recommended.

First time we have eaten at Silchar, we had our meals delivered absolutely delicious. Meals were piping hot and delivered on time excellent customer service will definitely be ordering again.

Was recommended to us, went on a Monday evening. Beautifully decorated and fresh. Extensive menu. Staff were very attentive and entertaining. Took our own alcohol and were given the correct glasses for the gin- with ice and straws, wine and beer We were offered a choice of complimentary desserts too. Doesn't get any better than that!

Executive service and food Just wow

Firstly we went early evening so hence atmosphere was low. Gorgeous food, superb service overall but a couple of things annoyed me. Firstly they seriously undercooked the chips and when I left them and complained, they just said sorry, no refund nothing.... Then at the end of the meal, when I was bursting, they told me there card machine hasn't been working for a few days and could I pay cash. Had to walk back into town to get the cash out. Wouldn't been nice to be told at the beginning of the meal. Those annoyances aside, superb food and being your own bottle is a plus

Very disappointed ☹️ went a few years ago and on the Sunday buffet was a lot more choice than was given now. Not much spice in any of the curry’s offered. Was asked if we wanted poppadoms as a group some said yes some said no but they still brought them out and proceeded to charge everyone of us £5.50 for 2 poppadoms even if we ate it or not!? Pudding choices was shocking… a small selection of supermarket brough tea cakes, macarons and brownies, with no cream or ice cream. Included in the buffet was x1 naan bread between x2 people any more was an extra charge and the cost of soft drinks was a joke. Found the staff very rude and was actually told to “calm down” when I questioned my bill as seemed expensive for x2 buffets and one extra naan was £40! Won’t be going back in a hurry

Great food as usual. Really noisy due to a large birthday group. Couldn't even speak to each other even the waiter found it difficult to take our order. Would consider this before returning.

Customer service was amazing, staff where friendly helpful and very happy. Unfortunately the food let this place down massively. Very bland and not enjoyable.

Great meal with some new options, we had the weekly feast (started and main for a fixed 17.95). It’s a bring your own booze which suited us as we like what we like :)

Staff were genial and helpful food was good and delivered in good time. The only inconvenience was no active bar for alcoholic beverages. On the main the surroundings were clean and comfortable in including a unisex disabled toilet. Excellent venue for all types of parties and celebrations.

Stylish restaurant (for Hinckley) with lovely and entertaining menu. Lots of choice and prompt service. It's Bring Your Own booze which feels almost naughty pulling bottles of beer from a bag under the table but does make it a cheaper evening. Would happily go again

Well after years of trying I may have found an Indian restaurant that provides really tasty food. I had a delivery tonight which turned up early (for a refreshing change). Our food was quite simply stunning.

Beautiful food and the service also excellent. We’ve eaten here lots and never had anything other than amazing food

Absolutely loved it the first time so went back 2 days later and loved it again. Service was perfect, food excellent, very clean presentable restaurant, clean toilets and very friendly staff. Good value for money with good deals for midweek meals. Will most certainly go again in the near future and would highly recommend to others.

A simply fantastic experience. This has to rank as one of the best Indian meals we've ever had. Actually, one of the best meals, full stop. I would have happily had any of the meals that we shared, from a tasty but mild Biryani to the excellent Ra Ra Lamb. Everything was pitch perfect. To round it all off the atmosphere was great and the service second to none. Everyone was friendly, warm and chatty. I can't fault any aspect. If you're in the area and like this sort of food, you owe it to yourself to check this out. Highly, highly recommended.

We visited here for a meal whilst on holiday nearby. We chose this restaurant due to the good reviews and weren't disappointed! The staff were lovely - friendly, welcoming, happy to accommodate dietary needs (both ours and others on nearby tables). The food was delicious. We didn't feel rushed at all and had a thoroughly pleasant evening, enhanced by complimentary coffee and mints :-) Would definitely visit again if nearby.

Good food but unfortunately the waiter was a plate vulture. Watching and waiting for you to finish. Saw it coming. Still chewing as plates taken away. Not good as it wasn't that busy.

booked a romantic meal but were given a table next to the kitchen door and where the dirty plates were collected. Was noisy and busy with kitchen and waiter staff, we stank of the kitchen when we got home, couldn't wait to go, no starter or dessert and was still £43.00. Won't go back there again, food was average.

Have been here twice. Food was good. Service although friendly was inconsistent. The first time we waited for about an hour for our order and received a part of someone else’s order. The prawn tandoori was delicious - would recommend. You can BYOB.

We had two meals here, but there were some issues. Firstly the drinks menu is extortionate, over £6 for a large sparkling water is not ok. We had a long wait for our food (well over 45 mins). I know restaurants do take-away as well but they should prioritise their dining in customers. The service is mainly by rather sulky young men who don’t talk much and never smile. The food was nice if not a little fatty. The tandoori prawns were a highlight for us.

The chandelier fell on are table and spilled the drinks before we left we got told to hurry up because more people were waiting they didn't even help the food was underwhelming. so lowered the review to a 1! very rude!

First off the staff are friendly and helpful. Downside is whilst they don't have a licence for alcohol they certainly know how to charge for lemonade, 4.5 pints for £25, rather excessive. The main courses we felt they were overpriced for the quality of the food, I have had better. Naan bread was nice. But it's all according to personal taste, I'm sure others would enjoy it. Not the best restaurant in the area IMO..

Came in last night with my 4 brothers I was really amazed of the food the quality was top notch I think it's the best I ever ate to be honest, I would highly recommend this place to everyone, the gent that was there he was so lovely, really felt welcomed Will deffo be coming back

The Indian food I shared in the company of a group of friends.This place gets a platinum service rating both for service and quality of food.Never have I tasted a curry like the one I ate here.Down side only that they don't have a license , so take your own Prosecco or beer.Would definately recommend this eatery to anyone.

I normally never write reviews and it would be a crime if I did the same after dining at Silchar. The food was spot on, Decor fantastic and the staff were extremely hospitable. In the future I can easily foresee myself going again and would recommend anyone else to go if they're planning for a night out.

Tasted very, very tasty. If you want to drink alcohol you have to bring your own as there is no license to serve alcohol. They don't know heating either.

Went for the first time with great friends last night and had a wonderful evening. The food was amazing and the whole place has been decorated brilliantly. The staff were friendly and funny. Definitely recommend and we will be returning soon.

Ordered Chicken Jalfreizi, chicken very scarce,peppers made to make curry look plentiful, Very disappointed as been restaurant a few times.

Absolutely amazing, would give you a hundred stars if I could! We came in as a party of 13 for my future brother in laws stag meal, after being let down where we were originally booked to go. We came in off the street with a large group and no booking; this was no problem for the team who were extremely welcoming and accommodating from the moment we walked in. The guys looked after us very well and we cannot thank you enough for giving us an extremely pleasant evening.

I ordered a chicken tikka masala and a chicken madras. Short version: please hire better chefs cause the way yours are cooking at the moment, that restaurant aint staying open for much longer. Detailed version: I requested it to be made medium to hot but tasted mild. That didn't bother me too much however, the curries itself looked vibrant but upon taste had no depth to it. They werent rich or flavourful. My chicken tikka masala sauce basically tasted like a can of chopped tomatoes was chucked into a pan, heated for 5 mins and they added salt and pieces of chicken to it. I had tomato sauce with chicken pieces👀. Food arrived quickly but i rather wait longer for my food if its going to tatse great. On the positive, the naan breads were great👌 overall, fast service, 0 quality, and total waste iof money.
