Golden Spoon Thai Restaurant in Hinckley and Bosworth

Soooooooo over priced. Holy moly!! You get next to no food, teeny tiny portions (not exaggerating at least half the size of every other take-away) you pay at least £2 more for each dish than you would anywhere else. AND the quality is shockingly poor. I ordered food about £50 for 2 people assuming we would have seconds, maybe thirds the next day. There was barely enough for a portion each, and we've had to eat a second time tonight, and both meals were terrible quality, undercooked dumplings, over cooked squid, wrong tasting thai curries with cucumber? Almost 0 veg, there were only 4 prawn toasts in a portion, and it had little to no flavour. ... Neither of us will eat a huge meal, and saying there was barely enough for two portions in £50 worth of food from a takeaway is saying a lot. I'm never buying from here again, I have no idea why it's 4.7 stars!

Great little restaurant that serves stunning food. There can be a an issue with the language barrier sometimes, but it all adds to the experience. Well worth a visit. And there's free parking around the corner, as long as it's after 6pm.

Everything we had was lovely and freshly cooked and nicely presented (River prawn, calamari, sea bass) - and delicious. Friendly managers, great experience overall- highly recommended.

The food is excellent, all is made from scratch with fresh vegetables, service is superb. We only wish we lived closer to be able to come back.

We are new to the area and so decided to give this place a go as I love Thai food. The lady who served us were so friendly throughout. It was really nice to get genuine customer service. We had some Thai prawn crackers which were beautiful and a mixed starter. They even swapped one of the parts of the mixed starter as me and my partner preferred prawn toast. The main my partner had beef Singapore noodles and I had a Thai green curry with jasmine rice. The food was absolutely stunning. Everything was fresh and delicious - we were not disappointed. I think we’ve now discovered one of our favourite places to eat in the area and they do takeaway too!! Highly recommend. We’ll be back as soon as we can!

Really nice place actually. Not much choice in Hinckley, but this is authentic Thai food. I didn't try it, but the traditional Sausage is unusual on a menu in the UK, as is Kao Soi, traditional noodle soup. The salt and pepper squid was lovely. My dad enjoyed his Massaman Curry. Good sticky rice. Didn't try the deserts, but they looked good. Would happily come back. Thanks for a nice dinner.

Always enjoy the food here and generally avoid visiting at the weekends, as they are always so busy and we prefer to eat in a quieter environment. Food, as usual, was delicious. However, we were rather embarrassed when the taxi pulled up outside the restaurant, as the friends we were with hadn't visited before. The reason we felt slightly embarrassed was that the outside of the restaurant is now looking very tired and uncared for, with torn advertising banners and a frontage that definitely now needs a repaint. The window ledges both upstairs and downstairs look grubby. The plants in the window just don't look great, and had we not eaten here before, we would have gone somewhere else. I know the most important part of a restaurant is the food and service, both of which are good. However, the look of a venue both inside and out is also important, in our opinion. Hopefully, next time, the appearance will have improved, and these comments are said in a constructive manner.

There is usually a party of six to eight of us and between us we have covered about 80% of the menu. We have been numerous times over the last couple of years and can say that the food is always delicious. Service sometimes takes a while but you have to expect this as the food is cooked fresh and not reheated. Have even gone down the route of having a takeaway delivered, which is just as good as eating in the restaurant. Staff are friendly, polite and in our opinion efficient.

Very slow service, when complained and asked for manager got shouted out by the lady that came out which was very unprofessional. The food that we did eat was average at best Wouldn’t go again as Leicestershire has much better options for Thai food for e.g Giggling squid or little Thai

This restaurant is a brilliant example of tasty food and perfect service. The variety of dishes is magnificent and the steak is to die for. The different aromas and flavours in the dishes always amazes me and exceeds all my expectations. I go with my whole family and there is always a dish for everyone. The staff are lovely and friendly. It truly is the best Thai restaurant around and I would 100% recommend, but beware it is addictive as we are now regulars.

Came here on a Friday night, the atmosphere was lovely, there were quite a few people in, but it wasn't crowded. We had the seafood banquet for 2 people and it was glorious. Every single dish was beautifully cooked and it all tasted amazing. The staff were lovely and friendly and even the coffee at the end of the meal was presented so lovely and it tasted great. I'd recommend it to anyone and we'll definitely be back 10/10

We were a party of 3 and all had something different, my mum had sea bass which was beautiful. I had prawns in Thai curry sauce and my husband had the chicken in the same sauce.. It was so nice and fresh, good quality..Staff were attentive and friendly.. Thank you, we had visited reviously with our Grandchildren and it did not disappoint on this 2nd visit.. looking forward to coming back for a 3rd time....

First time eating Thai food and was recommended The Golden Spoon by friends. We booked a table last minute and I was delighted with the quality of my food. Staff were very friendly including the young girl who was still learning. They catered around my gluten intolerance and also catered for my partners dairy allergy. We'll certainly be back. We were staying in the area and happened upon this absolute gem of a restaurant. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented food, plenty of good vegetarian and vegan options, excellent and friendly service and good prices. Highly recommended.

The food was great! Spring rooms super crispy full and fresh and the massaman curry bursting with gentle flavours! From coming in and recieving our starter we were then waiting for just over an hour for our main which was quite long It was a Friday so it may have been busy, but if so maybe staff should have communicated this. Prices were very reasonable too! And we will be returning :)

We were in the area and decided to go here to eat. The place was reasonably busy but were shown to a table straight away. We ordered drinks and food, which I had the Sunlit beer which was quite nice. For food we had a mixed platter which was nice, for main I had the green curry and coconut rice. This was nice and would have it again. Overall the staff were friendly, the place seemed clean. The food was good. I would recommend coming here

We have eaten at The Golden Spoon twice over the last few months and found both meals to be superb. The first time was on our Wedding anniversary when we enjoyed the most delicious meal washed down with the finest champagne! The second was a more recent treat with our son. The second visit was on a Friday night just before 6pm and on entering the premisis the Manager Steve immediately asked if we would be finished by 7.45 as they were very busy. Not an issue for us as we tend not to hang around after meals but after a quick reshuffle of table plans Steve then informed us there was no issue and we could stay as long as we wanted. The restaurant is comfortable and relaxing with authentic Thai music playing in the background. The waiting staff are mostly young but really pleasant and attentive. We have had a selection of starters to share between us on both visits. The Salt and Pepper squid was my favourite but the pork ribs ,mussels , satay chicken and dumplings are all recommended! The main meals were again top quality. I had duck in honey sauce. My wife likes the jungle curry which has a superb taste for those that like their food spicy! I felt i would make the effort to come on here and give a 5 Star review after reading some negative reviews. Muhammad Ali once said "I don't trust anybody who's nice to me but rude to the waiter. Because they would treat me the same way if i were in that position" Perhaps there are some people that should be a little more forgiving in this world when odd mistakes occur especially when the staff are so kind.

Having recently moved to the area, this thai restaurant came recommended by friends and we were sadly disappointed. We ordered spring rolls, beef paneang, chicken pad thai and jasmine rice (to take away). None of it tasted fresh, the spring rolls tasted like they had been refried. The beef was tough as leather, sauce almost tasteless and even the crackers tasted off. We love thai cuisine for its freshness and vibrancy but unfortunately this didn't meet our expectations (we have visited thailand a few times). Sorry, would not return or recommend.

Heard about this place through friends and none of us were dissapointed. All six of us cleaned our plates (age range: 11yrs through to 72yrs). We all tried a bit of each others dish's and all of us were impressed. Attentive young staff, but we were left alone to enjoy our evening. Very friendly and welcoming, nothings a problem. Wine was reccomended which was delicous and the perfect companion to our food. A very Thai feel to the place in that it is clean, practical and understated, you will not find table cloths but you will find wonderful fresh home coocked authentic Thai food, served by a great bunch doing they're best to please, all at a very reasonable cost. All in all, if you like Thai, give Golden Spoon a try! Fantastic.

Went for a meal for two after Cinema trip hadn't booked they fitted us in Ordered Crackers , Starter and Main Crackers never arrived Starters superb lovely and hot Mains service slow brought out hot plate and hot dinner plates thought this was good After 15mins or so dinner had not arrived when it did dinner plates cold as was the meal took a few mouthfuls not edible the stir chicken had no vegatables. At this point called the waiter told her the problem , she called someone else who said she would get the manager after a wait he came over , he offered to get another meal by this time it was too late and meal out spoilt. In discussion with him he really showed an attitude problem continually implied we were not telling the truth and he would check the CTV

We have passed this building many times and had mistakenly presumed it was just a take-away premises. However after a chance conversation, we learned that it was in fact a Thai restaurant with a very good recommendation. So we booked for early on a Thursday evening and were pleasantly surprised when we entered to see what a nice place it is. Added to this, although we are no experts in Thai meals, the menu was explained to us as novices and both of us thoroughly enjoyed both our starters and main courses - delicious. Also nice was the fact that although it was early on a Thursday evening, many other diners were also inside which made for a nice ambiance. We shall be returning now we've found this little gem.

We have been meaning to try this place for a while now and were handsomely rewarded. We opted for a seafood set menu as there was a great choice and were not disappointed. The food was of the highest standard, cooked fresh and enjoyed by us both. The service was 1st class. we will definitely be visiting again in the future.

Visited on a Saturday night after pre booking a table. After being greeted we then sat at a table for 20 minutes before our drink order was taken by which time we had decided our food choices. We were told by the waitress she wouldn't take our order as they were too busy. It took another half hour before anyone came to take our food order. There were a few half hearted apologies but no real explanation. We did hear others saying they had been waiting over 90minutes and asking for explanations and others who were missing items from their tables. Our food took another half hour to come and tasted okay, nothing spectacular. We had ordered prawn crackers, hoping these would come quickly to stave the hunger but these didn't appear until we had near finished starters. Throughout our time there was a lot of waiting staff who kept appearing to check if we had received our food by looking round corners etc. Which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. By the end we were ready to leave so just got up to pay and the gent behind the bar didn't apologise for any delay and seemed fed up, merely asking if the food was okay. I think some people could have been pacified by offering some prawn crackers or a free drink and an explanation when we arrived so we could have either left or braced ourselves for the wait. All in all not sure I'll return if I have to spend near 3 hours for two courses, I actually think it would have been quicker to order a take away from them and at least have been comfortable at home.

We had a takeaway on Saturday for my Birthday - we were coming from Nuneaton so decided to pre order relatively early so that we knew when we would collect and we could plan things around this. I'd like to also add that the food was okay (not as good as it has been in the past) and in part for reasons I'll explain. My partner arrived at the time we had ordered for , paid and collected the order having her name called out several times so we were pretty confident this should be our meal - when my partner got home we were proven wrong and in fact had been given the wrong meal - we know mistakes can happen and have had this from other restaurants in the past(though not recently), however this is when it all went wrong. My partner called up to say you'd given us the wrong meal, and was told by the owner the following: 1 - bring back the meal that isn't ours - this was annoying but not unexpected. 2 - the owner seemed to refuse to make a new meal for this, stating that industrial warmers would keep the food warm so it would be ok. because of this the spring rolls were soggy, tempura prawns mushy and soft, and the meat in the mains overcooked. 3 - When my partner drove back to the restaurant, she was offered 2 free beers in compensation as wellas wanting to charge extra as we'd also paid the wrong bill.

There were so many negatives from start to finish to many to mention but the worst one was when we ordered a vegetarian banquet for 2 and we were given meat! The staff didn’t seem bothered by this and the manager Steve wasn’t interested in our complaint at all I have been a vegetarian for 26 years now I said this but his attitude was appalling! we left before the end of the meal and we were still charged full price after being given wrong order and this took almost two hours ! absolutely awful experience would definitely NOT recommend! Ive had to tap one circle at the top which is terrible but I’d have tapped minus if they’d have been one

Lovely food, I was a big fan of the pork dumplings, and my colleagues enjoyed the duck rolls. Our mains were delicious, and the service was absolutely brilliant. Could not fault it

Decided I wanted Thai for dinner so after a quick search on Google I thought I would give these guys a try. Despite struggling with the English over the phone whilst making my order, resulting in both mine and my husbands curry being mild (husband doesn't like to spicy) it was absolutely delicious. I would most definitely order from them again. Maybe even get a babysitter and visit the restaurant.

I've been to a good few Thai restaurants and this is definitely one of the best I've ever been to. Absolutely delicious food, so tasty, really fresh ingredients, superbly cooked & great value. And exceptionally friendly & helpful Thai staff eg) wine choice to go with the particular food I was having. Whenever I'm next' staying over again anywhere in the East Mids I'll make a special effort to return here for my evening meal - it's that good. They deserve to succeed.

Never Had Tai food before. But if the Takeaway that I had Tonight 13/03/21 is anything to go by then its is exceptional. Had the mixed starter really nice especially the squid, Followed by the Chicken pad Thai really really nice. Will defiantly go back again and will also eat in when they reopen and life gets back to normal.

Just enjoyed a delicious take away meal. The portion sizes were good and the flavours very authentic, evoking memories of our honeymoon in Thailand. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for delicious, tasty Thai food.

Today we had the most amazing meal! The food was incredible and the service always with a smile. Really brings a little bit of Thailand to Hinckley. I can really recommend the squid and the duck dishes! Ask advice if your unsure and enjoy! Oh and make sure you book as they get very busy 😇

Perhaps we need to be a little more adventurous, because it had been a long time since we ate in a Thai restaurant and that some distance from home. However, money does talk (particularly when it is the Government's) so we decided to help out by visiting our local Thai. What a gem it turned out to be. From the moment we were sanitised to our departure, our health and enjoyment appeared to be their prime concern. Incidentally, the food was delicious and presented excellently. Of course, being subsidised made it excellent value but even at their standard prices we will be returning to celebrate special occasions.
