Great carvery on a weekend and friendly staff. Returned for a second visit and it didn't disappoint. Lovely food and a great pint and the cheesecake is amazing with the kids loving it and wanting to come back again.

Ordered Steak and ale pie today Miserly half portion of pie only contained 2 pieces of beef Mash when I expected chips plus a few peas Others had carrots and sweetcorn Asked by staff whether I enjoyed the meal and told them “not really “ but no further questions asked Sorry won’t be coming back Such a missed opportunity Hope that mine was an exception

Since moving into this area, myself and my partner ( soon to be wife) We found a new local to go for a drink. Cindy and the team, made us feel welcome, from the first time we went in. Cindy, mark and luna made us very welcome. My wife has certain allergies they went about and beyond to cater for her. The meal was outstanding locally sauced produce full of flavour and well presented. A nice selection of beverages at an acceptable price. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area. I wouldn't usually go for a carvery lunch, but was taken to the Thatch at Stanton Under Bardon on Sunday, not knowing about the carvery. Wow it was absolutely gorgeous and desserts equally good. Give it a try

Called in here for a coffee. Place was empty. They didn't have a coffee machine, only instant. Seems a big place not to have, what I would say, a range of coffee available. Not sure if I would return there.

We had been walking nearby and stopped for some food. Staff really friendly. Lovely Sunday lunch with a choice of meat and vegtables. Just left Old Thatched Inn after stopping off while halfway to our holiday in the Cotswolds. We needed a dog friendly pub for a bit of lunch, and we could not have chosen a nicer place. From the moment we walked in, the owner was offering free pool to our teenage boys, and we were told to bring our dog in as they’re more than welcome. We were greeted by little Luna, too, who was a pleasure to see with her little waggy tail. Both owners went above and beyond, even giving us a bag of treats for our puppy on the trip when we left. The food was fabulous too. We will definitely be returning whenever we’re in the area. Thanks for a fabulous lunch and for being so friendly ☺️

We came here for the second time and I just had broccoli and Stilton soup home cooked and tasted amazing with a hot roll my husband had the chilli and said it was beautiful. We have booked our table for Sunday carvery this weekend and looking forward to it. Just returned for our Sunday lunch and it was beautiful and the amazing cheese cake mmmmmmmm yummy.

The food here is absolutely lovely. The best Sunday roast I have tasted. It is worth the visit just to try Cindy’s famous cheesecake!

Recently taken over and the food is fantastic meat is 'melt in your mouth'. Lovely out of the way rural location. Plenty of parking and an outside beer garden. Will go again.

Lovely quiet old pub with a lively outdoor seating area and cosy bar area with seating. Service with a smile from the staff as well. Definitely recommend.

Had a lovely carvery, last Sunday, at the Old Thatched Inn. Beautifully cooked choice of meats, the vegetables were perfectly cooked and such a selection. Very warm welcome from all the staff, who checked that we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying our meal. We'll done Cindy, best carvery we have had for quite some time. We shall definitely be back ASAP!

Well! Almost 5 decades of Sunday Dinners and I can quite honestly say, I've found THE home of Sunday Roasts. Everything was cooked to perfection. The meat drops off the fork and melts in your mouth. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside & soft in the middle. The veg was tender with a slight bite.... Just PERFECT! As for the homemade desserts. My taste buds were in heaven. They're out of this world. By far the best we've ever had!

Called in for a drink late on a Thursday night. Everyone inside was super friendly and welcoming. Really nice environment to relax with a beer. Definitely worth a visit. Dog friendly too!!

Had a beautiful home cooked carvery on Sunday.. the 3 roast meats were all cooked to perfection. So nice to see the veg all lovely and fresh.We were met with a warm welcome from the new land lady and the young chef came out and chatted with us after to make sure we were happy with our meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch and will definitely be returning. Don't be swayed by the poor reviews in the past it's been completed turned around and worth a visit!!

Really didn't want to leave a bad review. We arrived early afternoon for a pub stopover. Went in the bar for a couple of drinks and Sonny couldn't do enough for us, even brought a bowl of water and treats for the dog. After a couple of pints we went back to the motorhome and arranged to have our evening meal in the pub. That was when things started to go wrong, we were the only 2 people in the restaurant area ordered our meals at 18.05 hours by 18.50 hours still no food so I went to speak with the female behind the bar and was told there is one customer before us. I did say that if the food was not on the table by 19.00 hours we will cancel. Sonny brought our food just before 19.00 hours and asked if we would like anything else, I asked for mustard and vinegar. 5 mins later it had not arrived and the food was luke warm when it was put on the table. By this time it was cold so we refused it and said we would just pay for the drinks we had. Sonny apologised and offered to heat the food up, he said he had 4 sittings for food. I explained that it shouldn't take an hour to cook steak and chips. There is a problem in the kitchen. We would return for overnight stop but just have drinks. The locals were very friendly as were the staff it was just the kitchen that let it down. Sonny did not charge us for the drinks we ordered with our meal. This is a great pub and very clean.

Sorry to have to say this, Sunny, but the food was cold, the roast potatoes were burnt and I couldn't get my fork into the broccoli, however I enjoyed the one slice of turkey and the parsnips and carrots were very nice. We will come again, but not for the carvery, it was very disappointing.

The cook could only do four meals at a time so our party had some finished, as others were starting, precooked meals ran out of some desserts. Won't rush to go again.

Since the new landlord took over, he has really reinvigorated this quaint village pub and brought it back to being the heart of the community again. The pub has three distinct areas: the snug by the bar, a restaurant area, and larger room at the back with a pool table, juke box and large TV. There is also a well-appointed beer garden, which is a real sun-trap in the Summer, plus a smaller patio area. I have given the full five stars on all criteria for the following reasons: Food: this rating is purely based on their chicken BLT club sandwich - delicious is an understatement! Plus, having eaten here with friends and family I can say on their behalf that they enjoyed their meals too. Service is prompt (subject to preparation times and how busy it is, which is understandable) and the food portions are generous and well presented. Also, there is a well-stocked bar with a wide variety of drinks available. Service: following on from my comments about Service in the restaurant area, the service at the bar is of equal quality. The landlord and barstaff are polite, friendly, and attentive. Tables are cleared and cleaned constantly - the staff never seem to stay still! Atmosphere: a welcoming and friendly village pub, nestled in a small rural community. A few years ago I would have rated the atmosphere 3, perhaps 4 at best, but this pub now has a really vibrant feel fully deserving of 5 stars. There are regular events including bands, family fun days, quizzes etc. In summary: a fantastic village pub with excellent food and a warm welcome.

Stayed in carpark in campervan. Very friendly welcome and good atmosphere. Food was well cooked etc. Service was slow, struggling with staff shortages that night but staff open, honest and apologetic.

Amazing to have such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person back in the village running the Thatch. The atmosphere...well, there is one now! Whether it be for a themed evening, event, live music or just a drop in for a quick refreshment. You are always greeted with a friendly face and made to feel welcome. Food is delicious and if you manage to get a booking, their Sunday lunch is perfect with juicy meats, al dente veg and a selection of drinks to accompany it. Sunny, well done you've turned that place around and we look forward to what comes next! P.S. the cocktails are delicious... especially the lychee martini! 😋

Fabulous food. Had bbq cauliflower for the first time. Blew our socks off!! Will definitely be coming here again. Highly recommend this place. Good play area for kids and lovely beer garden.

Just been for lunch and it was fantastic. Very welcoming and dog friendly. Food was brilliant, it was spot on and not over cooked so got runny egg yolks with my gammon, egg and chips, and chips that weren’t cooked beyond recognition and the Mac and Cheese with pulled pork was amazing and presented perfectly which is such a change these days. Definitely be going again and 100% recommend them and he keeps an amazing pint

I’ve just had a lovely Sunday carvery here and it was honestly one of the best carvery’s I’ve ever had. Ive been to here before and I was quite disappointed but the way that everything has improved and changed over the past couple of months is impeccable. I haven’t got a bad word to say about it: The food is lovely, the staff are lovely and incredibly welcoming; you can always count on them for a chat. The atmosphere of the entire place is so cosy and it’s a place where I just like to be. No faults whatsoever. Would highly recommend it.

Under new management and what a difference it has made . The food is lovely and service fantastic. Lovely atmosphere and music , all the new details have made the pub so much better and my youngest enjoys the darts and pool table and board games.

I visited the old thatched a couple of days ago. I enjoyed a lovely evening meal with a special friend. The service was excellent along with some great food. The atmosphere was absolutely spot on. Sunny has done an amazing job so far with this pub, it hasn’t been at this standard for 8/9 years. I will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family!

Great pub. New landlord, Sunny, (and his staff, of course) has worked hard to elevate this pub to one that the village can be proud of. Good beer, good pub food, beer garden, large car park what more could one need. I would recommend.

Vary nice food and dog friendly however, The service was slow. Would have given 5 stars if the services was quicker. The waiter did bring over a dog bowl and treats for the hound which was vary nice.

We received a fantastic welcome from Sunny and the team. Accommodated the fact that we were campers and allowed us to park over night -for the bargain price of a delicious Steak dinner☺️ The pub itself was cosy with great music and spotless toilets. We will be back 💫

Staff friendly and helpful. Especially new Landlord Sunny, who ensured we were well looked after. If there's space in the car park they allow overnight campervan stops in exchange for eating in the restaurant. We enjoyed our stopover here. Thanks Everyone ☺️

26/02/2023. Had Sunday carvery. Beef and turkey with peas carrots broccoli cauliflower red cabbage and gravy. Along with roast potatoes mashed potatoes stuffing and Yorkshire pudding. Condiments also provided. All food hit and delicious. Staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend

Food very reasonable and good quality

We stopped here in our campervans on way to a music festival. We arrived just after food service had finished but they still served us. Marstons Pedigree can be hit and miss at the best of times but was spot on here. Would have liked another real ale as well but one is better than none. Also the people running the pub were great as well.
