5 star service lovely staff, especially Liv, very nice atmosphere come here a lot really nice vibe. Laine Co need to decrease prices a little tho otherwise great

The Signalman is hands down the best pub in Brighton. They have everything, from a spacious garden, delicious food menu and an atmosphere fit for everyone. You can set the kids up with a choice of hundreds of board games, whilst you enjoy a drink in their HUGE sun-spot of a garden in summer, or in winter, you can enjoy the cosy indoors and even play a game of Toads. Their roasts are absolutely to DIE for on Sundays and there are plates during the week which will cater to everyone. Their padron peppers are the most simple yet addictive side ever! I could honestly have them on tap. If you are looking for a nice place to just have a few drinks, the Sig has you covered on that front too. With a choice of Laine brewery beers on tap along with some banging cocktails, and of course, plenty of softs to keep the kids happy. If you are looking for a pub that will literally cater to every need on any day of the week, Signalman is the place to be. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. The bar staff are also the loveliest people you will ever meet and work so very hard to make this pub as lovely as it is. Big love to the Sig. x

Love this pub. Great interior, with good food and sports. And a great outdoor area which we booked for a private party. Staff are lovely. Even had a secret garden that I only discovered after coming here for two years!

We were stranded because of an awful Airbnb host and the staff at this pub were very kind and welcoming. They let us stay even after everyone had left, charged our phones and made sure we had something sorted. It was impeccable hosting and care - the staff here were a great team.

Came here for Sunday roast on Easter Sunday. I've had many, many pub Sunday lunches over the years. Some have been really good, others have been disappointing. The lunch my family enjoyed today at The Signalman was outstanding and probably the best I've had. Roast beef was plentiful and cooked perfectly. Veg was well chosen, tasty and again spot on cooking. Even the roast potatoes, more often than not disappointing, were done well. Service was relaxed and friendly despite how busy the pub was. Staff were friendly and attentive. Atmosphere in The Signalman is very pleasant - lively but relaxed, if that makes sense. If you have been let down by Sunday roasts in pubs, don't give up on them before trying here. Seriously amazing lunch, huge portions and really good value. The quality of the ingredients speak for themselves, and prices are typical pub Sunday lunch prices. I wish I didn't live 400 miles away, then again I'd probably be there every week.

Cool place with plenty of outdoor seating. Prices are a little bit salty. Nice decor inside and outside. Can be a little bit crowded on weekends and service tends to slow down but still fair for the amount of people.

Wonderful Sunday roasts, great ambience, but, we visited on the same day as the Brighton marathon, and bar staff were struggling to keep up.

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon with two nurodiverse children. Went to the less busy part of garden around the back and away from the busy part of the pub and garden, we were then told to keep the children quiet even though they were playing quietly. Just not sitting down on a bench in a empty garden which was full of dog poo. One assumes it must staff policy to discipline children of their own accord as a pose to discussing their concerns with the parents. Leaving both the children distraught and confused as they were simply playing and not bothering anybody. I find it appalling that staff feel free to approach children in this way.

We visited the Signalman yesterday after hearing many great things about the pub. It had been on my radar for ages and I’m SO pleased to have finally checked it out. We had a big group of friends with kids visiting and wanted somewhere to feel comfortable whilst catching up, watching rugby and having a meal. We were given a huge table and couldn’t fault a thing. The food was incredible and the staff went above and beyond to make our visit a 10/10. The gorgeous garden was buzzing and had an amazing DJ playing. The vibe of the place is something that will invite me back time and time again. It’s a total gem and we are already planning our next visit.

At the moment I think this is one of the nicest local pubs in Brighton.

No solo es un ambiente maravilloso, con una decoración preciosa, y el personal más fantástico y atento, tiene un increíble jardín cubierto / climatizado para los meses de invierno. Éramos 9 que iban desde adultos hasta niños, nos dieron una mesa junto al fuego, con mucho espacio para todos nosotros, el pub era un servicio de domingo ocupado, con un ambiente vibrante, aunque estaba muy ocupado, nada era demasiado problema! Todos pedimos una variedad de asados para opciones de carne a vegana, y sin duda fue uno de los mejores asados de la historia. ¡Hemos probado numerosos asados de cachorros en Brighton y sus alrededores, y nada ha logrado vencer a un asado Signalman hasta la fecha! Este es sin duda nuestro pub favorito para ir en Brighton, bien hecho Signalman equipo, estableciendo un listón seriamente más alto (perdón por el juego de palabras)

El puré de apio era increíble. Asados cocinados a la perfección junto con el pollo. Gran pudín esponjoso de Yorkshire. Gran ambiente y personal amable. 10 / 10 .

Absolutamente sensacional, el mejor asado de verduras que he probado, comemos mucho y disfrutamos de una gran comida, mi prometido es celíaco y estaban tan en ello con su alergia y simplemente genial, los lados eran geniales y el tamaño de la porción era brillante. Comida premium con un toque casual. No puedo esperar para volver y probar el menú normal. Personal encantador también!

Had a great night on Thursday at the Signalman table of 10 friends we had not seen in ages, they also had not been to the signalman in a long while and complemented the pub for its warmth, cosy local pub feel. Cauliflower poppers, chicken wings and loaded fries also went down well as nibbles. Thankyou team Sig.

The beer garden's nice, as is the pub itself but the beers are overpriced, even by Brighton standards. That, coupled with lackadaisical staff who weren't terribly interested in serving the drinks to waiting customers, make the Signalman a hard place to recommend. Particularly when there are other pubs, a few minutes walk in either direction.

Went for a Sunday lunch with friends. We tried the roast pork and beef. The portion was huge! The meat, particularly the pork was lovely and juicy with lots of flavour. The veggies were the stand out though. The red cabbage was banging. Definitely get the side of cauliflower cheese, as was nice strong punchy sauce. The sticky toffee pudding was maybe lacking and perhaps more of the sauce was needed. Would definitely be back.

Fabulous roast! Came here for my birthday last Sunday but we always come here for the beer garden, atmosphere and especially because they have the Laine brew co beers! PS- I noticed there was a bad review below about rude staff, and my friend and I witnessed it, completely on the staff’s side and they handled it well - ignore his unfair review 😂

Went here for a roast as our local in Hanover had changed kitchen for the worst. Was not disappointed! The staff were super lovely, the food was great and the portion size was perfect!

We had a fantastic Sunday roast in the beautiful beer garden. Couldn't recommend more. The staff were amazing, extremely friendly, quick to serve and making a cracking drink. Bloody Mary's, pork roast and the sticky toffee pudding were a highlights but our whole experience was brilliant and hope I can go back again soon. I do strongly recommend you book in your roast and be exact with numbers as you don't want to miss out!

Came here for my birthday and had the most amazing time! Staff were super lovely & friendly as well as the pub Itself being so pretty & cozy. Ended up sitting in the garden most of the night and their garden is just lush. Their variety of drinks on tap & bottled beers were so good (and their non alcoholic range!) it meant my friends who aren’t drinking alcohol can still have a drink and it not be a Coke! Also had a couple of their “small plates” while here and they were so delicious. Love coming in here everytime I do & definitely will be in for times to come <3

Firstly the pub were so quick to reply to my enquiry about reserving some space. Not only did they reserve tables outside for us but also inside in case we got cold. The staff were so friendly and looked like they really liked working in the pub. The food was delicious (we had a burgers, halloumi bites, chips) and the pub just had a great atmosphere inside and out. All the party said they would definitely be going back especially when the sun is shining to sit in their gorgeous garden. Thanks so much to everyone at the Signalman!

Sat for 2 hours, buying a couple pints per person (5 of us, also note pints were increased in price for the euros which wasnt mentioned beforehand) then told to leave an hour before the football started because the table was "reserved" even though reservations were stopped at 11am the same day so there was no reason to let us stay that long and spend that much money before asking us to leave.

Great tasting roast with options for veggie and vegans. Staff super helpful and friendly. We had drinks in the lovely garden afterwards and listened to some great music. Wonderful afternoon!

Today I visited with a friend who frequents this pub and was excited to show me the garden and spoke very highly of its atmosphere. Unfortunately, today we were met by hostility and frustration by what I can only assume was the manager or of similar status as the way the other younger friendly member of staff looked to this woman for validation. The validation was due to when we entered the establishment we had asked if they had a WIFI we could use to message a friend due to the lack of signal. The kind mannered and friendly gentleman serving us responded positively stating that they do, and then turned to a woman who then in turn in a sarcastic yet hostile tone proceeded to say “yes, but only for paying customers”. Assuming the remark was a joke, as we were in the process of ordering drinks, we asked again for the password and she then repeated herself in a cold, patronising tone. We then explained we were ordering but needed to message our friend who was awaiting contact from us, she then from what I can only describe as sulked with a grumpy expression on her face and no apology for her mistake or abruptness. I’ve never been made to feel humiliated, patronised or received such poor customer service in my time spent in Brighton. I think politeness, respect and mannerisms could be learnt from the other staff that surrounded her. I hope this was a one off and if or when we choose to visit again all staff will be welcoming and positive.

Every time we’ve been here we’ve been blown away. The decor is lovely and the board games are such a nice touch, the team are super friendly and knowledgeable with excellent service and the food is incredible - the Sunday roast is to die for! Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Went to the signalman for thr first time. We all had a roast. Easily the best roast we have ever had! It was absolutely delicious!! Everything was individually flavoured. SOOOOOO tasty!!! Lovely pub and atmosphere. Staff all friendly too. We will definitely be back.

We actually booked at the round hill pub but we left after awful customer service and went here. All the ladies who were working were extremely friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing and you got a lot for your money too. Save to say our Sunday dinner was saved thanks to you guys and I will definitely recommend people to go here.

We booked a table for 15 of us, and the pub was super cosy with a nice fire! The staff were super friendly and lovely, and were very quick to serve us. We had a really delicious 3 course lunch and the price is reasonable! The gardens are beautiful also in winter, and the beer and wine selection is good! We would go again!

My partner and I popped in for a quick drink and ended up staying for hours playing guess who and drinking mulled wine! The pub is super festive and bar staff are so lovely. Milly made us feel so welcomed and was always smiling! Will be coming again next weekend for sure 😀

The signalman is the place to be, the open log fire, twinkly fairy lights and Christmas decs across the pub make it feel so cosy. Had a few lovely ladies serving me and my friends all evening, one had blue hair think she said her name was Millie, and I didn’t get the others name but she was tall and blonde. Can’t thank them enough as well praises to whoever made their mulled wine that evening it was Devine!

Having built and delivered a shiny new Toad table for the Signalman. I thought I'd pop along and show them how to play this fantastic pub game. The pub is a gem! Lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere and great staff. Plenty to choose from beer wise too. We happily played toad in its new, purpose built corner and even got a few of the locals playing too. Overall a super night and a super pub. The staff really couldn't do enough for us. I'll be back very soon for sure. 😁😁😁
