Been several times over recent times. Met friends for coffee and had a breakfast. good, friendly service and always busy and lively. great place.

Incredible atmosphere and a true gem. Atmosphere, staff and facilities are the best of any independent cinema I have been to (and that number is well over 70). Highly recommend supporting this wonderful experience. Vegan options were great and food very tasty.

Superb value, excellent food, great cinema. If you want to watch a film, grab a bite to eat or even just a drink, this is the place to be. Coffee & Cake deal is great value, as is the Combo deal of a main course an a drink. Can sometimes be busy so if you need to rely on getting a table, best to reserve one online.

Nice atmosphere and sensible prices. The Showroom burgers were well cooked, moist and tasty. The nachos were again well cooked and tasty without being too spicy. Mains are around £12 but desserts are mostly cake. If you're happy with a simpler menu, a very nice place to grab a bite. Only criticism is the lack of full sized paper napkins!

Have a wheat allergy - discussed in some detail with the bar staff at the point of order, ordered the gluten free option benedict. On delivery items looked to be gluten, so I enquired, they took the food away admitting a failure. They would not replace the item with an actual gluten free version now as it had passed the "2pm cutoff" for this part of the menu. I ordered a replacement item from the main menu, beef nachos, marked as gluten free and again consulting the team, communicating the severity of allergy. The item delivered to eat was not the item purchased, and was in fact a veggie nachos, it was also pretty rough, containing a cheese sauce that tasted really bad.

Called in for breakfast as a one off. A tenner + 2.40 for a "pot" of tea that filled one and a half of the cup provided. So £ 12.40. Thats plenty enough for a northern town in my book - so why not just get it right? 'Bacon, sausage, eggs, mushroom, tomato, beans, hash brown and toast' is the menu and all this was delivered in a fashion. 'Eggs' implies two at least, but they were difficult to quantify as they came scrambled. I was not given an option how how the egg(s) were cooked. I would have thought fried egg(s) would have have been the default option and one I would have preferred. Bacon x 2 was decent quality and nicely done. Sausage x 2 were dreadful - like 10 for a quid from Iceland. Toast was bizarre; two pieces of what looked like nice white bread, but was toasted in a flat grill machine that left stripes all over the slices. The striped indentations were burned and they tasted burned too. Worse thing is no butter was provided. With no dippy egg to use the dry half burned toast, it was left on the plate. Attention to detail is what makes average into classy, and it's so easy to do here. I think if if you can't find a way to cook a simple decent breakfast then I wouldn't trust them to do anything above that.

Always a good spot for a coffee break. Good coffee.Delicious choice of cakes and pastries too. Spacious and airy. Free water on tap. Clean toilets. Staff helpful. Perfect.

Friend and I wanted a light lunch, very limited choice, no quiche, no baked potatoes, sandwiches looked tired, ordered fish finger sandwich and chips Chips almost burnt to a crisp, didn’t eat them, dry white bread totally boring and unappetising meal with inedible chips that cost £12 a total waste of money Complained to waiter, vague response, second time asked if he had conveyed my complaint to chef, received some kind of mumbled apology but no action taken, suggested refund and he replied ‘out of my hands’ won’t be returning

Booked a table to eat before going to a matinee performance at the theatre. There a bit early (12.15) but waited til 12.30 to order. Took 40 minutes to come, during which time the place got more and more busy. We were offered a refund if we didn't want to wait, but decided to stay put. And we were glad we did! Delicious warm goats cheese salad with tasty dressing. Excellent fries. Good coffee, as per normal. Worth waiting for....

It is such a shame that this place has changed so much from....well, a long time ago. Bring back the Sunday Jazz lunches. Ate here with friends and it was utterly disappointing (again). Poor wine selection and very unpleasant, over-priced food. Chose one of the very few vegetarian options on the menu and it was utterly tasteless. Couldn't even identify most of the ingredients as being present. I ordered a burrito but it was just a flour wrap stuffed with rice and the odd kidney bean (no idea where the other ingredients were but I was assured they were in there) with a few chopped tomatoes on the top. Utterly tasteless and a waste of time saying that there is cheese, avocado, lettuce, beans and soured cream if you can't actually see or taste them. The vegan hot dog was, I hear, just as disappointing. £10 each for these meals. (Do yourself a favour and head to the Street Food Chef around the corner. THAT place knows how to serve a taste-filled burrito and is several pounds cheaper. The saving grace is that the manager was really lovely and offered a refund. Wouldn't return here, though unless the menu changes significantly in options and taste. I hope that it does because it is a lovely atmosphere and a place to which I would like to bring my custom but, as it stands, my return won't be any time soon.

5pm popular time before a film l chose the macaroni cheese. It was just a lukewarm stodgy mess. Inedible. The service is slow, they often forget orders when staff go off for breaks. They don't make any comments when they collect a dish, clearly not eaten. Tables left piled with used dishes, which at a busy time you end up clearing yourself.

Three of us decided to have something to eat before watching our film started. This was around 17:00 (22/9/22) in the Showroom cafe We decided on the £6 Beef Lasagna displayed at the bar and one portion of chips (at an astounding £4 for about 20 chips in a dish !). Big mistake as we discovered all the lasagna's were dried up having being sat under heating lamp/plate probably for ages. Later, after we'd watched our film (20:45), my friend went to complain to the bar manager about our meals but the managers attitude was "But you ate it didn't you ? What do you want me to do about it ?" (we hadn't and had left at least half of it as not really very edible). My friend said to the manager he didn't seem bothered about his complaint and his attitude was "You're right I'm not". Appalling customer service and rude attitude which the Showroom higher management need to be aware of how they are treating it's customers. Disgusting !

Previously had coffee and cake here which was decent quality. On our last visit we decided to have a main meal of hot dog and fries before watching a film. A big mistake - the hot dog had some weird, tough outer coating and was inedible. The fries were scrappy and hollow. Terrible. I’ve given a two star rating because the coffee and cake was decent - the main meal deserves a zero.

So, I had three days in Sheffield and the lunch provided was at the Showroom Cafe Bar. I ordered the "Funky Prawns" on all of the three days.... Day 1: 3 pieces of prawn, sald and a pot of sweet chilli sauce (no feta) . Day 2: 3 piece of prawn, sald, feta cheese and no sweet chilli sauce. Day 3: 2 prawns, small amount of salad, no feta cheese, no sweet chilli sauce and a full head of Lettuce..... 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 I was with 2 colleagues and there meals were never the same.... And they ordered the same meals.... 😂 😂 😂 The food did taste nice, especially the tomato, but if you advertise a meal with certain items in it, you should deliver.... The picture is what was left of the lettuce when I finished my lunch... I do like lettuce, but I struggle to eat more than 1 head of lettuce at a time..... 😂 😂 😂

We purchased pre-made sandwiches from the cold counter before our film; both were tasty, fresh and a good size. I followed it up with a cup of Assam tea from their selection of Taylors of Harrogate options. The staff were welcoming and happy to serve us. This place was ideal for a quick bite to eat pre-film, but I can’t speak for the quality of the hot meals

I used to attend the showroom quite a bit but the dead-eye, passive aggressive staff put me off returning. The last time we went there was a member of staff around the corner of the bar who saw us waiting but just made us deliberately wait to be serviced. It was in the morning and there was no other customers in! Food service can take a while. The food can be too salty and salads can be splashed with copious amounts of sauce without them asking if you want the concoction to be put on the salad in the first place. I also don't like the wooden platters that they serve the food on because it just creates more mess, which is unpleasant for the customer and staff as they are the ones that have to clean the tables. Additionally, there was an unpleasant situation of one member of staff asking a member of our autism group if he was over the age of 18 when he asked for an alcoholic drink. This, I found condescending as he did not look underage. Consequently, this experience caused him to never come back to our group and we eventually no longer came here again.

Came here after messing around in the peaks for a weekend. 35mins from order to delivery for hot dog and katsu.. hmm.

Enjoyed a couple of beers on Sunday waiting for friends to finish a film. Decent beer, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and great place to people watch. Enjoyed watching a young lad on a computer accessing the free wifi have a nice drink of tap water whilst eating a pack up.

Tried the food at the Showroom this week on the promise of decent vegetarian and vegan food. My wife had the haloumi and vegetable kebab which was apparently very nice. I chose the vegan burger. The manager of the night served our food but brought one vegan and one beef burger. Pointing out the wrong order to Alice the manager she looked at the two burgers to decide which one she was leaving, which did not fill me with any confidence. She insisted I had the vegan burger. Then went to change my wife’s order. I checked the content of the burger. It looked like beef, smelled like beef and tasted like beef. I refused to take it beyond that. I’ve been a vegetarian almost 30 years but I know my food. I cook meat for members of my family. Alice refused my request for a refund despite the poor service stating I got what I ordered. Won’t go again.

Estábamos buscando un lugar para desayunar camino a la estación de tren de Sheffield y encontramos este bar. Probablemente no sea el más acogedor de todos los lugares, pero era espacioso y la comida era muy buena. Las raciones eran generosas y bien presentadas. La tostada francesa fue increíble. Having an old people date night. Ordered two meals, bottle of wine. Staff misheard the order, so 1 person had a meal,1 person did not. Lost meal absolutely refunded, and I have just finished my sandwich that I bought at the local convenience store. I totally understand that things go wrong in catering and am willing to accept that, but the apology from the guy in charge felt like an insult. Like - who could care less about you two old people's night out. He certainly did not at the Showroom tonight. I love the Showroom and feel very sad at the way that we were treated. We will of course keep going, but shame on you all for treating an old couple on their date night like we don't matter. I know there was little you could do about the catering, but you did not have to be so dismissive of us.

This cafe bar has a friendly relaxed atmosphere- comfortable sofas as well as tables and chairs. The food is simple and wholesome ( though pricey). There is a range of cakes also. It clean, bright, excellent loos and very close to transport links.

Visitamos temprano en la noche y ya estaba ocupado.Un buen menú con muchos platos vegetarianos y veganos. Tuve los ñoquis y mi compañero tenía albóndigas que ambos disfrutamos, también agregamos un lado de chips de chile que fueron increíbles!También había una atractiva selección de pasteles que no pudo resistir. Very odd menu. If you eat before 1pm there is a small choice of meals available for the free-from dairy, gluten and meat. After that time, it's just chips. What? We'd forgotten it was like this, so won't be back for an evening out unless someone in the kitchen gets their act together. The waitresses, although pleasant, didn't seem bothered by an absence of suitable food either. Curiouser and curiouser.Poor Show. Room for a rethink.

Realmente me gusta este lugar, pero lo único que se pone mi cabra es cuando te sirven vino caliente. Cuando ordene vino blanco, no está bien recibir vino blanco tibio y luego, solo con una queja, se le ofrecerán cubitos de hielo. El vino blanco con cubitos de hielo es asqueroso. El hielo cambia el sabor. Debe ser comunicado ANTES de verter que el vino no está frío. ¡Esto es BÁSICO! Terminé dejándolo. El personal no es particularmente atento o accesible. Decepcionado.

Hired the Cafe bar for my mums 60th, paid £100 for bar snacks crisp, nuts ect. Upon ordering the food we asked for the food to be distributed across the 10 tables (Easy task, how wrong were we) food was brought out on two plates, eyebrows were raised at the amount of food on the two plates and the failure to distribute the food as requested.We informed the bar staff that we'd asked for the food to be disturbed across the tables and questioned the volume of the food. The bar staff said " We will top it up as and when it gets eaten"...(Clever ploy to make more money from you as you're trusting them to fill up the food and have no idea how much food they are putting out unless you monitir the 2 plates all night!!)

The Showroom Cinema has always been wonderful, but the cafe/restaurant not so much.

Sin embargo, la decoración es mejor, errores graves con los menús cuando estuvieron disponibles y mi comida estaba tibia (¡como el servicio!) Y pequeña. Dado el aire general del caos y el descuido, no parecía tener sentido quejarse. Un pequeño y bonito cine, pero si realmente quieres comida, hay mejores opciones cerca (por ejemplo, la pequeña esquina de Mexican Street Chef). Está bien para pastel y café ya que ambos son agradables y puedes señalar lo que quieres.

Vine aquí antes del teatro, no hace casi 5 años. Todavía excelente comida y servicio amable. Buen valor también. Fuimos vegetarianos y había mucho para elegir. Realmente disfruté de la fuente (pero tal vez un poco demasiado cous cous y no hay suficiente pan) pero la hamburguesa era excelente! Y los chips también.

Al principio me gustó este lugar. El cine en sí es genial y el bar tiene un ambiente fresco. Great selection of sweet and savoury food. Can recommend the coffee too. Nice spot to pop in for lunch too.

Had a meeting here, just ordered a coffee- which didn't blow me away but was good value. Great location minutes from the station. Atmosphere was a bit flat but it is quite a large space, maybe it gets busier in the evening.

A group of 6 friends are here last month. 4 veggies and 2 vegans There was only 1 vegan choice - a burger at an extortionate £13 Felt very ripped off and will not be eating there again

We had tickets for the cinema so decided to make an evening of it and eat as well. We had a selection of the small plates. These sounded interesting and tasty. We had visited the bar before and had drinks and it is a popular spot.

In a chilled and pleasant atmosphere I enjoyed good service and good beer - Abbeydale Moonshine, well kept - as well as a very tasty vegetarian dish (roast squash, halloumi, kale - all truly delicious - and some of the nicest chips I've had in a while. If I lived in Sheffield I'd be a regular, as well as for the cinema, with a great selection of films. Very convenient for the station and very relaxing.

Really slow service at the bar as don't seem organised. Pleasant enough place with reasonable food but service needs a shake up

Every 6 months or so, I give in and eat here- I visit the cinema often, love the place, and rate the whole complex highly. It’s just... the food.

I visited the Showroom bar tonight with two friends. We have eaten here before on a couple of occasions and have enjoyed it. However tonight we were disappointed with the amount of food we were given; I had a vegetarian dish which consisted of 3 small pieces of butternut squash and 2 small pieces of halloumi cheese served on some kale with a dressing, all for the pricey sum of £9! My friend's meals were of similar portions. I won't be visiting there again in a hurry.

Once again the Showrooms Show that they can get it right & when they get it wrong its disappointing........We spent Valentines Day (a bit late writing this review) at the Showroom and it was very good...food fantastic, staff relaxed and a lovely ambient feel to the place we even watched a film.

Booked a table for 8.30 when the film (excellent) was due to end. No table reserved but bar pretty empty so not a problem. Queued to order and found bar staff a bit vague about what was or was not available . Tap water and soda water supplied free. Food did not seem freshly cooked, fairly tasty but very salty. When we tried to order coffees afterwards at 9.10 pm we were told we were too late for hot drinks. Incredible! Quite spoiled the evening.

Not visited before. Not that impressed. Won't bother returning. On walking into the bar felt oppressed by the dimly lit...

Had a voucher that entitled us to 2 meals and cinema tickets. Bought the cinema tickets in advance and booked...

We have used the Showroom Café bar many times, often before a cinema visit. The food is always delicious and the service good. It is located just a couple of minutes’ walk away from Sheffield railway station and in an unusual building. Please check the menu for yourself, you will not be disappointed with the quality of food and at a reasonable price.

I had some business near Sheffield Train Station, and called in here, hoping for a bite to eat. I was treated to some really nice soup, just what I fancied. The coffee was excellent too, and they had vegan cake. Outstanding service, very warm and friendly. Definitely somewhere I'd visit again - hopefully take in a film too next time! :)

We have used the restaurant here three times. Each time we have had a bad experience; once our starters were given to a couple who had only just ordered their food, on another occasion the food was just terrible. Why did we go back? Because we were seeing a concert in the venue opposite and we decided to give them another try. Never again.On this occasion we we tried the steak special. The steak was like how I imagine boot leather is to eat. We complained to the waiter who spoke to the chef who had just that moment come out of the kitchen. When the waiter told the 'chef' of our complaint the 'chef' just shrugged his shoulders and walked back into the kitchen totally dismissing our complaint. We will never 'eat' here again.

Love the new face of the bar. The menu always is nice.I would recomend the veniso burguers if you cant some polenta chips

I have eaten at the cafe a few times in the last year and always come away feeling annoyed. The food is great but customer service needs some attention. Staff seem harassed and unhappy. The ergonomics of the bar area make service a long and torturous affair. I was told on one occasion I couldn't have coffee because the machine had just been cleaned for the next day. This week dirty pots remained on our table for over an hour and when this was pointed out staff didn't seem particularly bothered. The cafe had just had a refit that day but did this really have to mean the bar was still covered in sawdust? I also mentioned this and the sawdust was still there when I left. Come on Showrooms you have a good setting for your cafe (although the refit is a disappointment and the new chairs look cheap and flimsy) you just need to sort a bar manager who puts customer service and staff training high on his/her agenda.

Such a lovely cinema with lovely friendly and helpful staff. Good collection of movies for all tastes. The bar in a nice place to wait for the movie to start and seems to have an excellent food menu, although we didn't have the time to try it. The seats in cinema 3 were comfortable enough which is important for those longer movies. I would always choose this venue before any multiplex.

Excellent Food, a-la-carte style mains and a great choice on the Menu from snacks to a full meal....summart for everyone....we mentioned what time our film started and was told the meal would arrive at the right time which it did.Lets hope the quality stays consistent.

I regularly visit the Showroom cinema. It has a slightly Bohemian feel to it and the staff are friendly and helpful. Won?d much rather see a film here than one of the big multiplex cinemas

This is the bar area next to the Showroom cinema in Sheffield. You order at the bar, give them the number of your table and they deliver it.Firstly in terms of food quality it was fine. Portions are a bit on the small size and served in a rather large soup bowl even for a main course but it was competently cooked.The main problem is the service when they are busy as it is unreliable. If you are going to serve pre-cinema food you need to be certain that you deliver your orders on time or you do not take them. This is probably not a problem very early in the evening but it is a problem after 7:00pm. I went to the bar and ordered 2 desserts and 2 coffees at 7:15 thinking we had plenty of time as our film started at 8:00pm. We were served the desserts at 7:56pm.If this place truly wishes to target the pre-cinema market they need to take down the time the customers truly have to leave because their show starts. If the kitchen can not honour that time they should decline the order. Ordering and hoping the food arrives sometime is not acceptable.

This Zbar is at the cinema, very close to the railway station. We went prior to the cinema. There is a good selection of food, and vegetarians are very well catered for. The lunch menu finishes on the dot at 5pm, and then the evening menu kicks in. The bar had a good selection of beers and spirits (I think there were four gins to choose from). I ordered bacon, brie frittata with salad. It was delicious. My wife had a cauliflower salad. This was very tasty also. The lunch menu prices are very reasonable indeed. I would thoroughly recommend this bar for pre or post cinema food, or just for a drink.

Somehow, however many staff are on the bar, there never seem to be enough and the service is always slow. Food is ok, a bit pretentious, overpriced. and takes forever to arrive.

Almost perfect art-deco surroundings, and spacious...attached as it is to a quirky surviving independent cinema. Food is very, very expensive. Moreover, Coffee is fussy and could be hotter. Cheese toasties acceptable - but why did they come white when granary ordered? Worse and worst were our hot roast pork sandwiches : tough and not really pork, certainly not fresh roast pork. The trouble here is "taking pity" on them because they mean well. One extra word of warning. I heard an enormous clatter. It was a collapsing high chair [ fortunately empty!]. Needs Managerial attention.

We've only recently discovered this cinema and restaurant - both great finds. And lovely to have so much choice for visiting veggie daughter. However, the lunch menu not so good for resident gluten and dairy-free parents. I don't know if no GF bread was just an error, or a policy, but it was a shame because the whole menu could have then been accessible to us. As it was, the choice was limited to a frittata and chips, which was very nice, generous portion too, but we might not want that every time we go, hence the deducted star. The service was fine, food freshly cooked, and we didn't have to wait too long eitherI really hope the Management read their reviews and buy in some excellent GF rolls now available And if you can't sell food you don't make yourselves then might I recommend Bakels bread mix? Best flavour and texture I've found on the market! ( I'm not a shareholder or relation, just a grateful punter) Looking forward to trying you again.

Went here to get a drink before my film began. Although a few people at the bar, it took ages to get served, though it was clear to see that those who came later were before me. When a member of staff did serve me it was clear he didn't want to, and asked to see my ID twice. I know this happens but I'm 23 and a bit humiliating when both times he is staring at the picture to my face again, and again, and again. I ordered a gin and tonic, though unlike everyone who came before me I was not offered a choice of gin and Gordon's was put in my glass - ok but not what I would have picked. No offer of diet or normal tonic, followed by a bark of the cost and a sigh when I asked to pay on card. The drink was good, but it always will be because I like g&t's.

We've been here a few times now. The food and service is always very good. If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere and food that tingles the tastebuds then I would highly recommend this place. I ordered the salmon and beetroot small plate- delicious by the way. However because of a menu mixup it came without the caraway butter. Staff apologised and offered a free very large glass of wine to compensate. I'll take that!

I really like the food here and eat here quite regularly. I often have the veggie butternut squash pie with vegetables it is delicious. It has a buzz to it and often you have a share a table. Would like more comfortable chairs could spend some money on furniture I feel. Staff friendly and nice and service good, but because often busy early evening you may have to wait a bit.

We go to the cinema quite often and instead of going for a meal beforehand, we thought we'd try the sharing platters here instead, which turned out to be a very good decision. We shared an Indian and a Chinese platter between 3 of us, and there was plenty for everyone. Not an extensive choice of drinks as it's quite a small bar, but lovely area to sit & chat before and/or after cinema. Really enjoyed it.

Got My showroom card (from adjoining cinema) and were told we can use the money on it to buy drinks and food. Went to bar and ordered expensive drinks. Then he told us we couldn't use the card so paid cash. What a scam!

Ordered a spicy chicken salad everything Except celery. Got this .......? A Greek salad. £6 where is my chicken?????? Really poor.

We would have tried this place twice in one week if they answered the phones.We called in during the day when we were passing and had coffee and cakes. It was OK. Well priced but unremarkable. The decor is a little sparse but they do have hand pulled beer.As we were going to the cinema we took a look over the menu and thought it had possibilities but a couple of days later when we tried to book for a meal they just left us hanging on the telephone.It is their loss because we found a great place across the road and ate there instead.

The service was good and the food nice. Not much to choose from in the menu and what we did choose wasn't available. The food we had was nice and filling. Not bad on price either for a quiet meal with family

Delightful cinema, great facilities, plenty of screens for a small venue, nice bar and eating area, friendly staff. Visited for Sheffield Doc Fest.

Over 2years and several visits the food varies from OK to good. The service however is ALWAYS truly awful. Slower than snails pace and polite sorries from the staff but no action .SUCH a shame ,we love the place but after many "let's give it another go" will not happen again.

I was only in the cafe. On the face of it, it looks nice and kind of alternative - low sofa option and what have you - and the staff a pleasant enough. Quite expensive though and the air con was so effective there would have been no need to keep the beer in the fridge. Been to other cinema bars that were better which is why this only gets 3 stars. I wouldn't say don't go though. Just make sure you bring a jumper (I do feel the cold easily though).

There was no price list evident .All I wanted was an espresso.Lucky I asked the price.£2.55 . No way. I can buy a packet of ground coffee for that. Don't give them the satisfaction .I don't care where I am I NEVER pay more than £1. 60 for a double espresso.There are several good places in Sheffield to drink coffee. One of them is the inside market just inside the door.Real Italian coffee at the right price. Wake up Brite.Don't be exploited .Make a stand and only drink coffee where the price is right.

Went for a night out with work friends for a meal before heading up the road to the escape game. Lovely meal. Staff were helpful and friendly. Meals a good, fair price for fresh ingredients. I had venison burger which was lovely. Friend had thai curry, equally Good quality. They only had 2 burgers left And we wanted 3 so a friend had venison sausage which was also very nice. All meals perfectly cooked and tasty. Although it doesn't "look posh", it's a lovely place with great fresh food And excellent portions. Tables spread out and whole place was calm And spacious. We are coming back! Perhaps some nice music would help create a nice atmosphere but either way, we enjoyed it and are coming back when we next visit escape for a meal. Thankyou show Room.

This review isn't about the cinema which is fine, this is about the bar/restaurant. My wife and I have frequented the showroom for many years now and have always enjoyed the experience and up to 3 or 4 years ago the food and service were reasonably good. However we have noticed a decline in standards and quality over the last several months with one or two less-than-acceptable meals which culminated in a shambolic experience on the 17th June 2016. We had booked to see a film and decided to eat in the showroom bar/restaurant prior to going in. The table was greasy, sticky and still had glass/cup rings, there was little organisation evident i.e. we ordered from the menu to be told they had run out of the particular item. I accept this occasionally happens in restaurants and so you order an alternative, however it happened 3 times with the alternatives we ordered so we ended up with menu items we wouldn't normally have chosen. Even then I could have been placated with a decent meal but it was bland and unpalatable (I ended up leaving three quarters of it) and the service amateurish. I certainly won't be eating there again unless they get their act together and get a trained chef and/or a decent manager. Seriously gone down hill.

I used to be a member of the Showroom and visited at least weekly, often having dinner before the film.But a few years ago they changed the menu (and stopped membership discount) and it really wasn't for the better - I let my membership lapse, and stopped eating there, just went for films.Today I thought I'd give it another try in the hope that in the intervening years things had improved.....They haven't, if anything things have gone down even further - and I'm truly disappointed.Now members (my partner is a member still) collect points, instead of getting discounts on food.I ordered from the specials menu, Baked Lemon Sole - £13 is a lot to pay for a frankly flavourless piece of fish, a hand full of roasties and some pathetic looking onions.The bar service was poor, perhaps it was everyone's first night on the job - it showed.This place used to be brilliant, but on a rainy Friday night it was quiet and lacked atmosphere - I'm so disappointed.

We like this café because it's quite laid back and it's as much as meeting place as a cafe. The coffee is OK and the cakes, although it can feel a little impersonal, perhaps because most people are only there because they're waiting to go into the cinema.

Is it a cafe/bistro or a bar? Or is it a coffee bar? Place was empty on a Saturday afternoon and I can see why. Prices are as pretentious as the bar. Will try and avoid in future.

I regularly visit the Showroom for dinner and a film and find any opportunity to recommend it to people. The food is excellent value for money and the menu is always full of dishes I can't wait to try. The Take Two weekday offer, dinner + wine + cinema tickets for two is excellent.

As a gluten free vegan, it's often challenging to eat out without a lot of preparation. I intended to call ahead of lunch today, to be sure they could accommodate me, but I was held up in meetings and didn't get chance. I was so relieved that the chef was amazing and came out to chat to me about my needs and made loads of suggestions that weren't on the menu. He's vegetarian, but really had a good knowledge of my needs and offered to make something specially for me. I was absolutely delighted with the result - a high end platter of incredible foods (variety of salad with dried fruits and nuts, grilled veg, polenta chips and 3 sorts of houmous) all made on the premises from scratch. It was literally one of the best lunches I've ever eaten out and the generous portion was spot on. I would highly recommend!! The service was truly excellent, friendly, quick and I really felt that it was not a problem in the slightest, which is rarely the case in most places who make it known that they have 'had to make a special effort just for me'.. the Showroom were actually happy to do it, seeing it a challenge :) Just on the decor (as I saw someone marked them down for just that), it is clean and bright and contemporary, but also pending a re-design/re-fit ... willing staff told me so! I highly recommend this place if you are visiting the city!!

Very central location (across from train station). Beautiful Art Deco building but was very disappointed the theme was not adopted inside. Not a lot of choice of food but was very nice and reasonably priced.

Visited with friends before a film, couldn't praise the food enough. The service was friendly and a range of foods and drinks was great at reasonable prices.

I love everything about the Kino Bambino offer... Cinema on a Monday morning for mummies and babies, adjusted cinema (no ads and quieter screening), a hot drink after the film and all for £7odd. Amazing.The cafe bar is reasonable, does exceptional food choices (veggie options are usually amazing and the the best) and the staff welcoming, helpful and efficient. We love it and will be returning sans child in the future. Art house with a smile and some lovely people.

I' m a great fan of the Showroom Cinema and visit it regularly. However, having been away from Sheffield for several months, I was really disappointed this week to find that the cafe has really gone downhill. Tables had not been wiped and there were food remnants on the floor. Staff appeared bored and not at all happy in their work. I ordered 3 items at the counter and ,although I do not object to the new 'carry it yourself' policy, it would be helpful if trays were provided - I had to ask for one. Customers only have 2 hands! My colleague ordered a cup of tea which was served in a cup with a small handle, no saucer. She was then expected to,carry this to the central 'station' to add milk. Please - carrying hot drinks like this across a busy floor is downright dangerous. While I appreciate the Showroom Cafe needs to cut costs this should not be at the expense of poor service. I'm afraid they have lost this customer who will now visit one of the other nearby venues before seeing a film.

Visited here many times and love the cinema experience here. Last night we booked for a meal after our show and came out to find a chaotic bar/café. Couldn't find anyone at first to ask where our table was. Eventually collared a young waiter who found our table and left me without a word. No menus. Had to go hunting again for someone to ask for menus. By this time it was 8pm. Bar area full still. No one came to take our order so again went on the hunt for staff. Was told you have to order at the bar as it's not waiter service. Bar area packed. Waited ten minutes to be served. In the meantime staff appeared to be dawdling about without a clue as to what they were doing. Told that there would be a 50 minute wait for a meal. We walked. Please, please sort this out as it lets an otherwise lovely cinema down. Need experienced staff and training.

We often visit the Showroom bar before or after seeing a film, and decided to try its food. A pleasant surprise! There's an interesting menu, the food is freshly cooked and delicious, and the staff are lovely. We had salmon (him) and pork (me). Perfectly prepared and served, with interesting accompaniments. We also had the polenta chips, which were great. (we didn't need them, but couldn't resist) The wait was about 25 minutes, but that's to be expected when your food is being cooked rather than reheated in the microwave. And the staff are lovely - I said that already, but it's nice to be served by somebody who is polite and doesn't rush you when you are trying to make up your mind. If you're looking for intimate and plush, this won't be the place for you - it's very much a bar that serves food. But come for the food and stay for a film!

Went to the Showroom bar for a business meeting. Ended-up getting hassled at the table by someone begging. (which was not good)Ordered a Pastrami sandwich for lunch. £5.50 or so. It showed up with this solitary wafer-thin slice of pastrami between thick white sliced of bread. So it was tasteless and the exact opposite of a proper "deli-sandwich" experience. I think this place has gone downhill in the last 12 months. Will be avoiding.

Visited cinema cafe as an hour to go before train departure at nearby stationordered 2 hot chocolates and 2 slices of cakewaited whilst someone created the hot chocolate using the expresso machine toheat and froth milkso much attention to detail and such perfect hot chocolates and great testing cakes

We had a couple of drinks here prior to watching a film, and it's a great little relaxed find - Not just if you're going to the cinema I might add!!We had a couple of lovely Thornbridge beers that were on tap, along with a few other draught beers/lagers, and all were well kept and of a good quality.Will be stopping here more regularly when I arrive back into Sheffield!!

We took advantage of the take two offer (film,dinner & wine). Really enjoyed the Food, Wine & Film......helpful staff in a lovely art deco surroundings.......been let down before at the Showrooms so lets hope it stays consistent.

All a bit of a revelation for me. First visit to the Showroom. Wish I could have seen this place in daylight. Cinema, bar and restaurant are all incorporated into a gorgeous Art Deco building which, I assume, has been used as a car showroom at some point in its history. Stunning, even in the dark. Facilities inside the cinema are modern and it's celebrating its 20th year in 2015. Initial impressions on line were of a 1930s cinema, and being tall I wondered whether I would find things cramped, but seating was ample and comfortable.watched 2 shorts and the main feature which were part of the Celluloid Screams festival. So it was 20Hz, Sister Hell, and the Secret film. You don't get to find out til you turn up. Simple as that. A wide range of mainstream and independent movies make up the programme. It cost £8.30 for a ticket but other options included:ULTIMATE WEEKEND PASS (INCLUDING HORROR ALLNIGHTER) up to £95STANDARD WEEKEND PASS up to £80STANDALONE ALLNIGHTER TICKETS up to £26. Concessions available.Looking forward to another visit.

Been here several times with partner and enjoyed the food and atmosphere before going to see a film. On this occasion solo, but enjoying the atmosphere.

We ate again as paert of the excellent value meal for 2 package, £33 for two meals, two cinema tickets and a botle of wine or two pints/ soft drinks.The food is lovingly cooked and there is a good choice of meat/fish/veggie options.Portions not massive but the dishes are imaginative and very tasty.We;ve eaten hear nearly a dozen times now and never been disappointed.

The bar and waitress staff at best can only be described as totally incompetent. When ordering the barman gave us two glasses if white, when I ordered red, got confused about what was on the menu, then struggled to enter on the till and take money. The cafe was busy, but then it always will be when you have a NTlive screening. six waitressing/bar staff, many just grouped in huddles chatting, presumably about the chaos. their manager also seemed to be wandering around, but with little purpose or authority, may be he was on work experience. The number of orders that came out of the kitchen with waitressing staff wandering around trying to find who ordered them. The same happened with our own meal, but the order was wrong. A meat dish for a vegetarian. When asked to clarify my order the waitressing staff didn't have a clue what was on the menu. As for the surroundings, student Uni bar springs to mind. Such a shame, all of the independent cinemas I have been to have had lovely gastro pub style dining. We were offered a drink on the house and brought two champagne flutes of red wine, only 125mL each. I was utterly appalled. I feel so sad for the new chef who is obviously very talented, but with service like this we have no reason to come back. Get your act together and hire some competent bar staff.
