Lovely food and service with a smile

We visited last night for dinner, the food was delicious 😋 all homemade and it came out piping hot! I had the veggie supreme pizza (without cheese) even the pizza base was homemade, as were the chips. My partner had the large yorkie with beef, mash & peas. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

First time visit and really impressed with the home cooked food and nice beer. Great value for money .Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely will be back soon.

Really really bad order the giant Yorkshire pudding and lamb with mash the mash was frozen and so was the Yorkshire pudding the Yorkshire pudding was swimming in brown water when I pulled them on it a old lady with blonde hair came over and started having a go at me and my grandma definitely would not recommend but if you like frozen food and bad customer service then it's the place for you

Excellent good value for money . Even do take outs as my friend got her hubby a gammon meal.

Great beer selection, very friendly staff. Much bigger on the inside than it looks. Family friendly

I went with a large group of ladies, everyone enjoyed their meal. The food was excellent, large portions that were well cooked and very tasty. The staff were friendly & efficient. We all agreed that we would return sometime

We stayed in Northowram for a couple of days and were looking for somewhere nice to eat on the first night. We popped in for a drink and the food smelled really good, we both ordered the steak and mushroom pie and being from the North ordered extra gravy, it wasn’t needed. We were served a smashing plate of food which was lovely and tasty, the pies had plenty of steak in them and were home cooked. Atmosphere in the pub was friendly, with table service which was quick. Would definitely recommend the 2 for £16 menu. The pictures on the website could do with updating as they don’t do the food any justice.

Outstanding lil pub, with equally great food. Good portions and good value, friendly staff and prompt service. Been numerous times and is one of my favourite places for food now. Highly recommended.

Didn't eat just passing through, busy and if not driving would have stayed a while.

Due to a58 being shut found this pub to let traffic die down. Had amazing steak n ale pie chips (chunky) and mushy peas and lots of gravy for £8. It was excellent. Nice pint of pale ale to go with it mmmmmm.

Used to be really good. Chips still ok and gravy. Meat tough and veg undercooked. I could not eat the cabbage, stringy, and the carrots were raw too. Also smaller portions. I had lamb Sunday roast. It was full of grissel I do not recommend this pub anymore. New chef?? No idea but not the same! It was chewy and full of sinew. Ate very little. Not up to standard at all.

Had a gorgeous Sunday dinner with my family yesterday... really good value... Great portions.. the chips ... sadly were sooooo nice I ate far too many . Staff couldn't do enough either and made sure my little girls were well looked after too! So glad this is our local pub!!!!

This is a regular haunt when visiting my family in Northowram, and that is only because it is excellent in all regards. The menu is broad, the food is delicious, the chips are exquisite, the price is good value, the inside is beautiful, and there is a play area for children.

Really good home cooked food 👌🏻

Visited on a Saturday evening and was quite busy. The staff are chatty and helpful. Quite dark in the main bar and could probably do with a bit of modernisation. Drinks are relatively expensive for the surroundings.

Went with my partner and another couple. Never been before we all enjoyed the food. Definitely recommend 👌 anyone to visit. Will be going again. Nice and friendly too

Great staff but the blond rude leader is so miserable and rude. Windmill is for many of the locals.

Spent a few hours here on Xmas day. First time I have been in and found there to be an excellent atmosphere. Was very very busy. A nice pint of John Smiths. I am planning on going back in the New Year as I am told the food is fantastic.

We went yesterday for our slimming world Xmas party. It was so cosy and festive. You walked in and everyone was friendly, didn't look you up and down like some pubs do! As we were leaving there was a brass band playing Christmas carols, lovely. Will be returning. Xxx🎄

Welcoming interesting traditional traditional stone built pub in quiet but prosperous villagr- excellent value for money home cooked food.

Good for families. Very small inside play area and small outside play area in garden. Dogs not allowed inside
