very tasty food, friendly service and Georgian music. We especially liked their salads and khangals. We billed £90 for 3 people, well worth the food

Very cosy spot for Georgian food, khinkali dumplings were a little too salty and food and drink is very expensive. Bought a bottle of wine and 8 khinkali dumplings for each of us (2 people) which added up to almost £100. Would recommend coming here for good food if you’re happy to splash out

First visit to a Georgian restaurant, although we were already familiar with their excellent wine. We had several dishes. The boat-shaped bread was excellent, ditto the aubergine with tomatoes and dolmas. Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy the chicken in creamy garlic sauce at all and wished we hadn’t ordered it as it was just bones in a thin sauce. The final bill was almost £100 for the two of us, with one bottle of beer and one glass of wine. We know London is not cheap but didn’t think it was good value. Service was already added to our bill. A different experience in cozy surroundings downstairs but we won’t go again. Sorry a bit disappointed.

Very homey feel! Vibrant atmosphere. Excellent Georgian food (first time trying it, not disappointed!). Is highly recommend it. We shared a bunch of mains, which is convenient bc you can get a large flatbread to share and dip/eat if you’re in a group.

We found this place looking around South Kensington for a lunch and I have to say we weren't disappointed!!!!never tried Georgian food and have to admit veal stew was absolutely delicious. Our twin girls loved dumplings also. And their bread is absolutely gorgeous, in the end we ordered second one! Prices for London are very reasonable considering you have freshly cooked, delicious meal with friendly and polite service.

Last night we were taken to Shoty for dinner by friends. Our first time to eat at a Georgian Restaurant, it will not be our last. From the street level you go down steps to the restaurant, it is like down in the cellar, nice atmosphere. The staff were happy to explain the menu , we ordered a variety of dishes and shared them . There was plenty to choose from and all what we had was enjoyed by all. Nice bread and sauces enhanced the food. We had a couple of Georgian wines, a red and a white also tried the beer . All very tasty. It was a nice night with friends and the food was very tasty

What a find! I love Georgian food, and was happy to find this place near where i was staying. I was early, and dining solo, which is not always welcomed, but here I was greetly warmly, made to feel very comfortable, given excellent service and a DELICIOUS meal. I had the Adjaruli Khachapuri (the one eveyone instagrams) and pkhali with the most delicious bread. And it was every bit as good as it looks in all the pictures. If you are in the neighborhood of the V&A and Natural HIstory museums, make this the place to go afterwards. In fact, no matter where you are in London, make this a place to go, it is worth seeking it out.

The only good thing is cosy place. Food is really bad, not Georgian at all. Satsivi tough, cold, basically skin an bones, no herbs, no spices. All food was delivered at the same time, so when you finish started and soup the main course is cold and not tasty at all. The chef refused to accept our complaints. I definitely do not recommend this place

I always look forward to trying Georgian restaurants in the neighborhoods I stay in. The food was good here, but atmosphere was missing something. We arrived and went to the sub-street level entrance and were directed to go upstairs because there was some sort of private event downstairs. The upstairs appears to be a newer space. It was nice and clean and we were the only customers at first but someone in the back (the kitchen?) was smoking cigarettes when we arrived and I couldn't get past that.

Very nice food, if you’re after Georgian food, worth having. However, the place is really small, and as soon as you finish ordering, you’ll be asked to leave because ‘somebody else has a reservation waiting’. However, when you reserve, no maximum seating time is indicated. The food is good, but keep ordering, otherwise you’ll have to leave.

We came across Ukai by accident as we were making our way through Portobello Market and wanted a more substantial and comfortable lunch than that on offer from the market stalls. We perused the menu outside before entering having decided we liked the look of several dishes, so we went for it. Despite the throngs of people and hustle and bustle of the market outside, Ukai was surprisingly quiet, and with only a couple of other diners, we were given a very generously sized table, with comfortable seating. The paucity of other diners was a bit of a concern and prompted a quick look on TripAdvisor before we settled in and ordered anything. The recent reviews did nothing to alleviate the concerns, but decided to stick with it and were really glad we did. The staff were friendly and efficient and were prepared to explain the menu as well providing a warning that one of the dishes selected may come with a slight wait due to the time it takes to prepare. That wasn't a problem; we took that as an indication the dishes were prepared to order and were fresh. Also, we wanted a relaxed lunch and weren't in any hurry, but TBH, there wasn't any noticeable delay in any of the service. For starters, we went with a couple of cocktails, including a very refreshing Kyoto style mojito, and shared steamed edamame, chicken gyoza and generous portions of pork belly bao buns. Mains included the beef short rib and sizzling beef Toban-Yaki, with sides of broccoli and Japanese mushrooms. The food was well presented, fresh as expected, using quality ingredients, with delicious results. We enjoyed everything, so we were glad that we hadn't been dissuaded by the negative reviews. For us this place was a great find and provided a relaxed setting for the lovely lunch we had been looking for. Hopefully other diners will look beyond unfavourable reviews and give Ukai a go. For food this good it certainly deserves to busier than it was on a Saturday afternoon with lots of potential customers passing through the market outside.

After hearing mixed reviews about this place i decided to try this afternoon tea. They have Halal and Gluten free options. Overall ambiance and decor of the place is nice and floral. Staff was attentive and kindly offered free a hot chocolate to the child. However it took then 35 mins to bring the food on the table despite the whole place being quite empty. We had one Gluten free and one regular afternoon tea. Afternoon tea itself was very presentable offering variety of teas and we tried three different teas, the nicest one was Masala Chai. Sandwiches were ok in taste albeit rather bland. Scones were fresh, tasty and light. Unfortunately the desserts were very average in taste and were very basic. They do not do refills which is unusual for an afternoon tea. There is definitively room for improvement.
