Lovely restaurant with great food and service. Worth a try if you haven't visited

Such a lovely place to come too for all occasions or a casual afternoon lunch. The decor and atmosphere is impressive, the service and staff are fab, and after coming here so many times it’s remained consistently top notch. I love the food and the choices are varied and delicious.

Food 5* Service 1* Had table booked but had to wait 55mins past booking time until we were seated with no apology. This was despite asking the Maitre D who greeted us at the door upon arrival 2 times and also the bar staff in the waiting bar area. Also asked the female maitre d but alas still has to wait. Extremely poor service to be honest as the Chef’s send out amazing food but have already been let down badly by the FOH staff, …..such a shame. One final note, at no time throughout the meal nor at the end when paying was any attempt made to offer an apology or goodwill will gesture, disgusting really ! If you are the owner/manager reading this please take on board this constructive criticism and act upon it in a positive manner so that other patrons do go through the same experience

Cocktails were lovely and delicious at this place, Service was perfect the waitress for our table really looked after us always there at the right times The Atmosphere was great and the vibe of the restaurant is stunning. Would highly recommend The desserts are massive.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shish Meze in Hornchurch, and it was an outstanding experience! The service was flawless—definitely a 10/10. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and even offered to take a family picture for us, which added a lovely personal touch to our meal. The food was just as impressive. The mixed shish was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and served in generous portions. It's clear they put a lot of care into their dishes. We left thoroughly satisfied and are already planning our next visit. Shish Meze in Hornchurch is a true gem, and I can't recommend it highly enough!

Foods lovely, staffs lovely, not over strict on what you wear. Lived in Hornchurch for ages and always mean to pop in here. Glad I did. Only thing I’d say is my passion fruit mocktail was ram with ice. I took 2 sips and it was literally finished, which for £9 a mocktail is a bit annoying. Me and my family are a regular costumer here and we always have food and dessert. The food is great as always but the dessert are not like before. They used to serve very fresh dessert but now it tastes like the dessert you can get from the shops and it's too much creamy. Otherwise the food and service is amazing.

Gotta say this place is amazing for Turkish food. The chicken was amazing grilled and the salads available are great too.

They had a Magician visitimg tables when people had finished thier main course, and he was excellent. A really nice touch at no extra cost. The food and service couldn't be faulted and we had a mix of starters and main courses lauding the fillet steak and shish kebabs. A little more expensive than others locally but not by much but well worth it. This visit was an early Sunday evening.

Great food great atmosphere lovely staff! I come here every time I visit my family who live nearby! Leah is always so accommodating! She is a real asset to the restaurant. I felt so comfortable having a few drinks and eating on my own. She went out of her way for me every time. Love coming here! Amazing cocktails too!

I went here for my 40th birthday and Mo was amazing and a very friendly person. He recommended a cocktail and it was amazing. And the young lady that was with us was also good she was able to answer all the questions we had. The food was amazing and we didn't have to wait for a long time. Highly recommended for any occassion.

bit of a rip of with £1 for a shot of lime £2 for very little garlic sauce table of 7 and little extras that some places give for free come to £18 plus automatic service charge no nope won't ever go back any of us watch out for all the extras they will stiff you with

Food was fantastic especially the slow cooked ribs! We chose this for our wedding celebration and were very happy. Staff were very professional and service was great. Only bit I didn’t like is the location as it’s right on the busy road so no feeling of privacy but not sure much can be done about it. Also was surprised we weren’t given any of the lunch offer menus give that i asked in advance for them over email.

This is a local option for us and we go back several times because the food, service and overall experience is always great. Friday nights are good with live music too 😃 Sara was a great host and was extremely friendly and accommodating with our table. Thank you to Sara.

Great food. Service could have been better. Parked in Herbert Rd from 19.45. unfortunately I didn't check for parking restrictions, assuming after 18.30 there would be none. My bad, no parking between 11.00 to 22.00. hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I had booked this a month in advance for a triple birthday celebration. I haven't been Shish for a few years, but every time I came before, I was happy with service and food. This occasion was very disappointing. Firstly, the doorman met me with a physical barrier and a sarcastic "You have to have a reservation! Do you have one?". I replied, "Yes!" And he then stepped to the side and allowed myself and 4 others to enter. The other 3 members of my party were already in there. They hadn't been shown to the table, despite arriving on time. So they made their way to the small bar area. We joined them and greeted each other, and ordered drinks. There was no interaction with any form of front of house staff. Which I found odd. After using the facilities and having been there 10 minutes, I found the "front of house" sat with her phone. Looking incredibly bored and uninterested in doing anything, I asked if my table was ready. She pointed to a table of 8 that had been ready since the first of my party arrived. I gathered the rest of my party and we sat. We waited around 10 minutes for a member of staff to give us any attention. It was a female, and she was happy to take the order. Until that is, another staff member jumped in like she was stepping on his territory and demanded this was his table to serve. I didn't much like his approach towards the other staff member. But I let it slide. This waited did not introduce himself. He didn't give a smile. He wasn't, in fact, in any way polite or friendly. He rushed through one-half of the tables' orders as if we were an inconvenience to him. By the time he got to me and my partner, he really gave off rushed and unenthusiastic vibes. My partner is very experienced in hospitality, and she began to order from the menu. He interrupted her and was very patronising and condescending when she asked for the starters and sides to come at the same time. We found this very inappropriate and rude. He didn't bring us one of our sides, so we asked the nice waitress from before to get our order, and then they tried to bill us twice for one dish served. As a direct result of my whole parties lack of customer service whilst dining here, we decided to eat our mains and leave. We did not order dessert. My sister asked another staff member if they could do anything for the birthdays, and he said, "Because you haven't ordered dessert, we won't do anything,". Despite spending a few hundred pounds, they weren't prepared to do anything to make our night special. By this point, it was too little too late to win us over. The food was as always amazing. And the kitchen staff were working really hard. But the customer service of your waiters is seriously lacking. I feel you only care about the high flyers who park Bentleys on your drive whilst dining. Whilst other customers get £120 parking fine for parking on the street where you're situated, and you do nothing to warn them.

Lovely lunch and reasonably priced. Sat outside as weather was good although road noisy. Service was excellent and as it wasn’t busy was able to take our time.

Haven’t been here for a while but didn’t disappoint. We took family from New Zealand and Canada and they too were suitable impressed. Great friendly service and excellent food. This restaurant is more expensive that other a Turkish restaurants in the area but you get what you pay for.

Lovely restaurant. Food was amazing and big portions and arrived very quickly. We been served by nice gentlemen who's name is Muhammad. Was very helpful and helped us choose best meals. Environment was very beautiful. One small down side would be mocktails was bit on smaller side for the price and being told that we can stay 2 hours felt bit unnecessary because nobody really stays more than 2 hours in restaurant. But rest was brilliant.

Nice Turkish restaurant, the service, the atmosphere all very good and very stylish place..the food was all good quality but no wow factor..

Booked a table online and it was ready when we arrived. Good looking decor inside, nice and attentive service throughout, food and drinks came quickly. Free bread given first which was super soft and fluffy, and we absolutely loved the garlic sauce - quite addictive! Starters were good, wagyu beef sliders could be better as meat was slightly dry, but the cheese pastries were lovely. The adana kofte was perfect and the 3 stuffed portobello mushrooms were tasty and very filling. The truffle chips were sadly not great at all, undercooked and a bit flavourless. Mocktails were mixed, nice virgin pina colada but the hashtag shish mocktail felt mostly like orange and and pineapple juice without any of the coconut or rose flavours. They allowed us to takeaway things we hadn't finished. Overall would recommend and looking forward to coming back to try new things!

I visited this restaurant with a group of friends, expecting a lovely evening out, but we were met with a series of service failures that overshadowed our meal. Initially, things seemed promising with prompt service at the bar, but the moment we were seated for dinner, the problems began. Firstly, the rush to take our order immediately after handing us menus was bewildering – we hadn't even had a moment to glance at our options. Throughout the evening, the lack of attention continued; not once were we asked if we wanted more drinks. After our meals arrived, we spent a full hour with dirty plates in front of us and no offer to refresh our drinks unless we flagged down a server ourselves. The frustration peaked when, after finally getting new drinks, we waited yet another half hour just to place a dessert order. Eventually, we were so exasperated that we decided against dessert and asked for the bill – which, ironically, was the quickest service we received all night. To add insult to injury, as we were paying, the server had us double-check the bill calculations ourselves, which felt highly unprofessional and demeaning. Although the food was excellent – hot and well-prepared – the dismal service completely ruined our experience. We left feeling neglected and undervalued, and we have all agreed that we will not be returning. This restaurant needs a serious overhaul in customer service training and management.

On the positive side , The food was wonderful , well cooked , fresh and large portions and we all really enjoyed our meals . ( There were some issues with timing in that 2 of our guests meals didn’t arrive at the same time as the rest and it was a long wait before they did, by which time we had mostly finished but the waiting staff were so apologetic that it wasn’t really an issue ) The decor was wonderful , the waiting staff were all so professional, attentive and friendly and the prices were reasonable . The only real negative was the banging music , great for a nightclub but not a restaurant where you couldn’t talk, which is the point of a meal out , personally I think along with other reviewers they have got that completely wrong , and I wouldn’t ever return solely for that reason, unless that changed , restaurant would benefit from listening to its customers on this one , as the majority saying the same , apart from this would have been 5 stars x

Came here to celebrate my anniversary. I had Owayes serving me and he was amazing! I and my husband felt very welcome and all our needs were met. The food was so delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Thank you will be coming back again !

Everything excellent (best lamb sish ever) although we drunk alot of cocktails (5 or 6 each) and didn't feel any effects of alcohol. If you are "watering" them down or using cheap alcohol, that's not right as they aren't cheap @ £13 each.....

I’m a foodie by nature, I love trying new foods and restaurants. I’ve been to numerous restaurants and I must say that Shish is by far the BESTTTTTT I’ve been to. The food was delicious and aromatic, and the staff was very welcoming and polite.

Too noisy and loud music The food is delicious, the service excellent :large portions, the decor is great it is wonderful and unique . The only issue is the loud banging music which they have got completely wrong, such a shame everyone I know feels the same and that is the only reason we wouldn’t return They should really listen to the customers on this one and must be losing a lot of return custom

Went here for a bit of lunch, service was good, starters were really nice however I had ordered the ribeye steak medium rare however it arrived rare and the chips it came with were extremely salty to the point it was inedible, this is the reason for the 1 star being dropped, the waiter didn't check in once the mains arrived and everyone seemed more interested in a larger table. As for the atmosphere when I initially walked in it was nice however as after a few moments the music went extremely loud to the point I couldn't hear the person I was sat next to without them shouting. Prices on the menus were very misleading as well, it showed 25 next to the steak but on the bill it came at 45, meaning the menu was showing 25 over a base price. And it definitely was not worth 45 for that mains.

Visited last night for the sister in-laws birthday. Stylish place, and very busy. staff are great and friendly(the doorman also warned us not to park on the single yellow line as the traffic wardens were ticketing people, so thank you). Food was absolutely lovely. The issue 2 things I can say that knocked it a little, the timing of the food coming out, 5 of us eating and one starter took ages. Then I had my steak come out quite a bit earlier than the rest of the mains. And also (not too sound old but the music,although OK was a bit too loud so we found ourselves having to talk really loud across the table. Otherwise a great place

Food is fantastic & staff very friendly & helpful. However, we had a large table - & did feel a little pressured to leave towards the end of our 2 hours time slot. It is also quite expensive. It's an ideal venue for special occasions!

The only thing that justifies 2 stars (as opposed to none) is food. The food is good. Once it reaches you, which, as we observed with two neighbouring tables, doesn't always happen when the couples got up and left having waited in vain for a waiter to take their orders. Our experience upstairs was awful: tables packed in like sardines, bright spotlights, not particularly clean (tip: dim the lights a bit and it'll be more bearable), waiters clearly short-staffed and overworked... We had a reservation, but ended up waiting 30mins to get a table. When we were finally invited to our table in the mezzanine area it turned out the table hadn't even been cleared, so we had to stand there in the corner waiting for the staff to wipe down the table. Getting attention of the few waiters serving a lot of tables was impossible. The following day, on 9 March, I received the usual "how was your experience?" email. I duly completed it and shared my feedback. A few hours later I received a reply: "I am equally disappointed with your experience here at Shish Meze Restaurant Hornchurch as you are. It is simply not what you should expect from us. Given you took time out of your day to provide feedback, it gives me hope that there is a chance to win you back and make this right. I'd like you to know that hospitality and making my guests happy is important to me, and I do not take negative feedback lightly. Please allow me some time to regroup with my team to further look into your experience." That was the last I heard from the restaurant. It's been three weeks and they're clearly still "regrouping" :)

We have now been to Shish Meze three times, but will prob not return on a Saturday night. The food and service were excellent as usual, the bread and my beautifully seasoned mixed kebab being highlights. However, the Saturday night experience included loud music (we were moved to a different table but it was only marginally better). Then a singer started, in tune etc but not what we were expecting. Some will love this and feel it enhances their night out, we didn't expect it as it wasn't mentioned anywhere and it hadn't been like this on other visits. The couple we went with, but we hardly got to speak to, felt the same. We'll ask before we book on any other night, and won't be going back on a Saturday again.

I had read the reviews before I booked and all of them said the food was very good so I thought this is where I want my birthday meal with friends. I also noted that a lot of the reviews said that the service was bad but I thought I’ll decide for myself. The food was absolutely lovely and the service was very good too. The decor was smart and the atmosphere was good so I would highly recommend and look forward to returning soon with family. Enjoy, we did.

Incredible experience from start to finish. They so made alterations for us as we were running late bless them. My boyfriend and I booked a table for our 10 year anniversary on Monday 15th, as soon as we arived we had such a warm friendly welcome from all staff, congratulations from the host/concierge and prossecco upon arrival balloons on our table and a quiet lovely setting. The decor is so pretty with all of the flowers and gorgeous lights and the customer service is second to none! Absolutely attentive wait staff nothing was too much trouble who made our night incredibly special. Food was amazing! I had the pork chops which were delicious! My partner had the chicken and beef shish also so flavoursome. Cocktails were fantastic especially the lychee one! They made our evening even more special by taking pictures revomendibg cocktails and having great bants. everyone was incredibly attentive and we has the best night ever! They went absolutely above and beyond. They also bought out our cake and just made a huge fuss. Thankyou to Shish Meze for a beautiful night ! Music was bomblasting woman was told turn it down her live performance and she turned it up and continued for ages gave us a bloody headache with her yodelling couldn’t even speak don’t bring her back because I deffo ain’t coming back

First visit here in a long time. Table booked for 8.30, was told on entry that we would be seated in ten minutes so can we wait in the bar. Bar was rammed, couldn’t get a drink, half an hour later still not able to be seated. No apology and more people coming in behind being told the same thing. Grossly overbooked which is just greedy, give proper service instead of trying to cram as many people in as you can. Not prepared to wait so went elsewhere. I eat out with my friends in Hornchurch all the time but will not be returning or giving any recommendations.

Table was booked for 7:30 but we were told on arrival it would be 10 minutes as they were running late. We were sat at our table 30 minutes later. Bread and dips came out then mains came over which were not ours, despite us saying the mains weren’t ours they prematurely cleared away the bread when we were still eating it. Our actual mains then arrived with 2 missing, by the time they turned up we had finished eating leaving 2 friends eating on their own. Drinks were very slow to come out and we received our food before drinks. They then gave us attitude when they were asked to remove the service charge. Shambles of a restaurant! However the food was nice I’ll give them that.

I don’t know what happened tonight but the music was absolutely horrendous I get it’s live entertainment but I could get this at the local pub. Food was good though but damn it was so loud and off pitch it was like a pub crawl karaoke night! Honestly disappointed!

We had a table booked for 8pm and at 8.20 we asked how long it would be, they said not too long, finally got our table at 8-45, no apologies at all. Ordered our food and a bottle of wine, that was just put on our table without even being opened. Food came but separately, miserable staff will definitely not be returning.

I have been to Shish Meze on quite a few occasions. Honestly by far the best restaurant in Hornchurch. Everything is 5 star from the moment you walk in. Other restaurants in Hornchurch should take note.

This Turkish restaurant stands out as the priciest in the area, despite the fact that the taste is indistinguishable, given that many establishments source their food from the same three companies in London. During a visit with a group of twelve, we requested some bread, and surprisingly, the waiter insisted we place our entire order first, as if we were planning to consume the bread and then leave without ordering. The staff's behavior was quite rude.

The young girl working at the front desk with gold hoop earrings was so friendly and welcoming she made my 2 year anniversary even more happy, customer service was above and beyond great restaurant
