this USED to be such a good restaurant but now the manager and some of the staff have let it slip. You’ll be waiting 40 mins+ for food. Manager will ignore you if you need anything. Some staff are nice. Food is ok but definitely not worth the price. If you want to waste your time be my guest

The food and relaxed atmosphere was lovely. Each dish was delicious and plentiful so you could be guaranteed to be satisfied. Good value for money. The meat was tender and juicy.

Nice food, it is abit pricey compared to other turkish places and their portions out there but to eat a nice turkish in romford - id go to this place

Place has gone downhill a bit. Prices have jumped meanwhile portion sizes have reduced. Used to get a lot of free sauces etc too but not anymore.

Food was vile. I got it as a takeaway on the TGTG app. It was mainly all fat or offcuts it wasn't chicken or lamb, ended up throwing it away.

We’ve dined at Mangal Meze twice now, and both visits were enjoyable! What stood out the most was their ability to accommodate a last-minute booking—literally just 5 minutes before we arrived—when our plans suddenly changed. The food was decent, and the service was generally good. The only downside was feeling a bit rushed, as people were standing near our table waiting for us to vacate. Despite that, it’s still a great spot for tasty meals and quick service!

Terrible food, terrible service, terrible staff, terrible management. Did not have a good experience here at all!. To make matters worse I ended up with food poisoning and had to wait at the hospital for 13 hours!!! Avoid.

I've eaten here lots of times now at varying times of the day and have never had a bad meal. In fact it's our place of choice when we want something that isn't "beige" like so many of the other places around Romford. I particularly love the accompanying salads and dips which are the best around and are so colourful and plentiful. When I want a veg day, their vegetable kebab is so good too. Always friendly staff and service is attentive but not over the top. Tables always clean and freshly placed whenever I've been in there.

I recently visited Mangal meze, expecting a pleasant meal and some decent service, but what unfolded was nothing short of a disaster. The moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt chaotic. There was no greeting or warm welcome—just staff running around looking like they were on the verge of a breakdown. We were eventually shown to a sticky, unclean table. After what felt like an eternity, we decided to order the “famous” sharing platter which had been recommended by staff members. However, when the platter finally arrived, I was horrified. It looked like a random assortment of leftovers thrown onto a tray. The meat was overcooked to the point of resembling charcoal, while the lamb chops were so dry they might as well have been sandpaper. The “fresh” salads were wilted and tasted like they’d been sitting out all day. The bread, supposedly handmade, was stale and cold. Honestly, I’ve had better meals from tesco. As if the food wasn’t bad enough, the staff put on a show and started shouting at eachother.They were shouting at each other in full view of the diners, slamming plates down on tables, and storming off in different directions. At one point, I wasn’t sure if they were going to start throwing punches or if we were part of some weird dinner theatre. Either way, it was completely unprofessional and made the already uncomfortable experience downright unbearable. To top it all off, the bill was outrageously overpriced for the quality and lack of food and service. I left feeling ripped off, hungry, and baffled by how this place manages to stay in business. Avoid Mangal meze at all costs guys. Unless, of course, you enjoy bad food, staff arguments, and a ruined evening. Zero stars, if that were an option.

Menu prices inside the restaurant were 20% higher than those on the flyer outside but bigger issue was a mandatory Service Charge added into the bill when it arrived, this wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu. Food nice, drinks ok but spoilt by aforementioned Service Charge.

Beautiful Turkish food, by far the best in the town. The service with a smile, nothing is too much for them.

Chicken shish was best I've had, salad was fresh and the amount of rice was just right, and not greasy. Definitely comming back. I ate the lot.😁😁😁

I come here sometimes for lunch or dinner by myself after work, and I’m always treated wonderfully by staff and chefs. Atmosphere is splendid and the service is always a 10/10. Their Turkish tea is very good & hot, nice touch for cold weather.

Had to fight with the burger to eat it as it was such a massive portion! But was worth it!!! Absolutely delicious would definitely recommend.

My brother and I had an amazing meal here last night. The kebabs were absolutely amazing. Service was brilliant. And we even joined in with the owners birthday celebrations. I recently dined at Mangel Mezze and was lucky enough to have Nico as my server. From the moment I arrived, Nico made me feel welcome and made sure I had a great experience. He was friendly, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the cocktail menu, even making a drink exactly to my taste. His positive attitude and care for his customers really made the experience memorable. I highly recommend requesting Nico if you visit Mangel Mezze. Belly dancer also amazing

First time visit but would definitely go back. Food plentiful, service welcoming and value for money.

I’ve been here a couple of times, and while I really love the food, the service has been a bit hit or miss. On one visit, I ordered the garlic mushrooms as I’m vegetarian, but they accidentally gave me a dish with chicken. I didn’t realize until after I’d eaten some and mentioned it to the server. Thankfully, the lady was very lovely and apologetic—she’s also vegetarian and really understood where I was coming from. More recently, I attended my friend’s birthday party there. When ordering, the server misheard me and thought I wanted a feta dish. When the food arrived, I explained that it wasn’t what I had ordered, but the server didn’t seem to understand and made it feel like it was my fault😭 They insisted I eat it, which was frustrating and put me off my meal. My friend reassured me, and we kept the dish, but it did put a damper on the experience, especially since it was a special occasion. I didn’t want to complain because it was my friend’s birthday, but the lack of understanding left me a bit disappointed😞 Overall, the food is fantastic, with generous portions, and the decor is absolutely stunning. However, the service could definitely use some improvement.

Great. Best restaurant en the area

I had made a reservation for seven people on Friday morning(4th October) for Sunday 6th October, and the booking was confirmed. My family had been looking forward to this meal all week, as we have been regular customers of Mangal Mez for nearly a decade, even from the time of the previous ownership. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation, it became very clear that the evening would not go as planned. The restaurant was extremely crowded, and the duty manager seemed surprised by our reservation. After a quick, unconvincing remark that our table was being “prepared,” we waited until 18:40, only to be seated after a table was hurriedly shifted around to accommodate us. The atmosphere was chaotic, with loud music( and I mean LOUD), unruly children running around, and large groups dancing with bottles of alcohol in hand, all While staff are trying to shuffle through with hot platters of food(Huge breach of health and safety) This behaviour was clearly encouraged by staff, who obviously prioritised tables that were spending large amounts on drinks. The noise was so unbearable, and the environment far from what we expected for a family meal. My autistic brother, who was already distressed by the noise, and chaos became overwhelmed and asked to leave. In an attempt to remedy the situation, the duty manager offered to seat us at Ivy Tree, the restaurant across the street that they also own. While the gesture was appreciated, the experience continued to deteriorate. Despite being seated in a quieter environment, service was slow and disorganized. Our drinks arrived nearly 40 minutes after we had ordered them at Mangal Meze, and when the starters came, they were stone cold. The explanation that the food had been “walked over from across the street” did not suffice. The final blow came when we waited an excessive amount of time for our main courses, only to be informed that they “might” be ready. We had simply been forgotten about. By this point, we were fed up and wanted to leave. To add insult to injury, we were told we might have to pay for the food that had supposedly been prepared, even though we had yet to see it. The duty manager admitted that our table had been given away when we arrived, further highlighting the disorganisation and mismanagement of the booking system.”I was away from the desk and my staff gave the table away” That’s irrelevant to us, and especially at this point in the evening. We paid for what we had and left feeling utterly disappointed. It is understandable that people want to celebrate and enjoy themselves, but it was clear that Mangal Meze was not a suitable environment for a family dinner that evening. An NB that might make things more clear for idiots like me: this venue is on the main South Street as detailed. But not exactly where pointed on the map, at the back of somewhere else. The customer face is opposite the Slug& lettuce, which is just 4 shops down from the Mcd on the corner.

First time in this place, the desert is good after a bumpy experience but takwa made it all up with her kindness and she is a very professional friendly lady, special thank you to her for all her efforts.

I go here a lot as I really enjoy the food. It's always cooked amd presented to a high standard and the staff service is aways friendly and attentive. I particularly enjoy the home made doner, lamb ribs and adana kofte They also do a nice range of cocktails

My family and I have been coming to Mangal Meze Romford for the past 12 years. The staff are all very kind,Friendly, caring people with excellent customer service and care. The staff become your friends and they are brilliant. We celebrate lots of family birthdays at Mengal Meze, and if you give the staff your birthday cake before and set up, the staff will put on birthday music and dim the lights, it’s a lovely thing that makes you smile. Alex is the main man, he’s always lovely with a smile on his face and very helpful and caring. The food is delicious and very tasty. The mocktails are very tasty too. On Saturdays they have a belly dancer come in. She was very nice and lovely too. Engaging with you and dancing with her too. It’s a wonderful evening out, dining with your family and friends and makes a wonderful experience in a wonderful restaurant.

We recently went to Mangal Meze for a family dinner to celebrate my daughter's 9th birthday. The food was delightful and the atmosphere/interior exceeded expectations. Above all, our waiter Alex went over and beyond to make my daughters birthday real special - something she'll always remember. Thank you Alex and Mangal Meze!

I had a wonderful experience at Mangal Meze Restaurant. We were greeted by a staff member who asked whether we had a reservation. When we said we didn't, he promptly called his manager. The manager welcomed us with a smile and sat us in an ideal position by the entrance, where we enjoyed a refreshingly cool breeze throughout our dining experience. The first waiter who served us our starter and drinks was very friendly and welcoming, and the second waiter who served us our main meal was just as welcoming. The food and service were so good that we placed a takeaway order. The waiter who took our order and processed the bill was also very pleasant. We ordered the hot appetizer platter, which we devoured right after eating the deliciously warm and soft bread with sauces and beautifully textured and flavoursome onions with a reddish tinge, suggesting that they had been well-seasoned. We ordered Adana Kofte and Chicken Shish for our main meal, which were excellent with every bite. We also ordered smoothies, which arrived after our starters. Although we felt our drinks were served later than expected, the quality was top-notch. Our smoothies arrived chilled, which was perfect, and even as they warmed up due to the room temperature, it didn't diminish the great and wholesome taste of my blueberry bliss—I sipped every drop. As we left, the waiter who served us our main meal was at the door with a warm smile, they bade us goodbye. So, regarding friendliness, service, ambience and food quality, Mangal Meze gets top marks😄 Our experience was so good that I plan to return in a couple of weeks.

Fantastic, authentic Turkish manga restaurant. Food is all very fresh and expertly made. Top quality ingredients. Grilled meats are superb. Chefs make their own breads for the wraps - and it’s delicious. Great value place. Lovely waitresses - very helpful and efficient. Recommended.

I had the pleasure to be invited to dine at this wonderful location. Food was amazing, i love turkish cuisine and i must say this is one of the best by far. Loved it , the appetisers were tasty, the meat nice and tender and the bulgur one of the best i had in london. The restaurant very clean and the service was excellent, We have been meticulously served, the staff was so nice and accommodating. The ambience was perfect! I am looking forward to come back again to be delighted with the amazing dishes that the place has to offer. Thank you for an amazing time!

The food was atrocious and took 45 mins to arrive and they still ended up getting the wrong order.With practically no other choice we tool the wrong order not wanting to wait another grueling 45 mins.the atmosphere was dull and I almost fell asleep,not to mention the staff were very rude and not content.

Went there for a birthday meal, for Mike my nephew and his partner, his two brothers and sister. We had a lovely meal. Very friendly staff. Couldn't do enough for us. I would recommend this restaurant to others.

This restaurant is amazing! The food to the service of the staff is exemplary. I got the turkish sucuk and falafel as the starters. The main course was a large adana kebab with chips. The portion sizes are good too! Thank you and I will be back once I visit Romford again.

Best Turkish restaurant in Romford by a country mile!

Just had the 2 kebab combo, lamb kofte, and chicken shish. As you can see it was lovely. Even though it was a busy Sunday evening we got our food quite promptly as well which was surprising. ONLY reason I'm knocking a star off is because I don't like service charges where you are forced to tip (but I would have given one anyway)

Myself & friend’s met here to have a lunch date & pre birthday catchup. We had the round table. Staff were nice & service was good, We ordered drinks & cocktails were on 2 for 1 which we hadn’t realised until the waitress bought them over. Our food arrived and everyone was surprised how much food we had. The food was delicious, the chicken was tender & cooked perfectly. The salad & rice was colourful & tasty., We didn’t have room for desert, just coffee.. we have already decided to go back again when we next get together..

Really good service, I have to say. Prices also reasonable. But I’ve never had a chicken doner wrap at a place that has no pickles. The flavour was just imbalanced. I asked for pickles but they said they don’t have any at all. Not that they had run out, they just don’t serve them. Very strange. And this did impact my enjoyment of the meal.

Top class restaurant had 15pp booking for the Friday which all the food serve at the same time and quite good temperature , tasty yummy food , our waiter he was brilliant from welcoming to leave we been spoiled , definitely would be back .

I order online for delivery .it says free delivery but they charge me 1£ .I order specials 40£ when I get my order I was surprise that is more less than I used to order .I used it to order specials 40£ but now that is 60£ and is way to less what you get if you dine in .I order extra salad and I get less than usually .I understand that everything get expensive but not 50% more expensive is too much

So impressed. Delicious food, friendly professional staff. We didn’t have a booking but they fitted us in for a table for two on Mother’s Day and got to keep the table thanks to the manager. We will definitely be back and take friends. Thank you!
