This restaurant was called the Shish Mahal then it was the Spice Room. It is now called the Indian Grill. My friend Anne and I have patronised this establishment for the last twenty or so years. Until the last visit it was run by a lovely guy; Sammy, who couldn’t be more attentive. BUT, on our last visit there was another guy running the place. This guy told us he had taken over the running of the place. He was ABSOLUTELY devoid of personality and his Customer Care consisted of, ‘you’re the customer and I don’t care’. I had vowed never to return, however Anne loves their kormas, so we decided to have a meal there one more time. We were delighted to see that Sammy had resumed his role as mine host. If you like Indian grub treat yourself and give this place a try.the food is excellent, the staff VERY friendly and the prices are more that fair.

We both popped in here around 4.30 for an early dinner. The Restaurant, even at that time, already had a few diners in. Our Veg. Pakora (huge portion)was freshly cooked, mains of Mince Bhoona & Kashmiri Prawn Korma, boiled & Pilau Rice with a huge Nan Bread. Washed down by a G&T & pint of Cobra for an incredible sub £40 price. Service was prompt.

We normally stick to our usual favourites but Jag encouraged us to try something different,he knew the flavours we liked so he went thru the menu, ingredients and how it was cooked n served etc,and we weren't disappointed!! The food was amazing! Unfortunately,Jag had left before we got to praise him n say our goodbyes..He's leaving shortly to study law in England,so all the best Jag in your future endeavours..thanx again,You made my special birthday a nyt to remember.mr Ali done well when he hired you ,up b missed x

We had a little trouble understanding our waiter, but the food... the food! Prepare to read, as the menu is pretty big. We had papadum, the garlic pratha melts in your mouth, my wife had a great chicken dish, and I had the chicken tikka rogan josh - the best I've ever had. The orange sorbet was way better than in some Italian restaurants I've had. The spicing and flavor of the food was great and unlke any Indian food I've had yet. The waiter could have checked on us more, though. The food is so good, I'm actually a bit at a loss for words.. it's hard to describe how far Shish Mahal's food is above everything else I've had. I recommend including this stop on your Glasgow trip.

Glasgow friends took us to Shish Mahal for dinner, saying that Glasgow has a reputation for excellent Indian food, and that this was among the best. Take their word for it. The four of us had different dishes and all were proclaimed excellent. Friendly and efficient service, crisp table cloths, a nice Indian beer (Cobra) - what was not to like. A pity they don't deliver to Australia!

Had an amazing meal in Shish Mahal last night and I must say it was fantastic. Lamb Tikka to die for. You can also bring your own drink for a corkage fee. The owners son Mohammed made us feel like we had eaten there all our lives, he was so friendly as was his dad and Uncle Jas. He told us it will be going buffet style soon so we will look forward to that. Shame we only just discovered it and its only round the corner. We will be back !!!!

Opted for takeaway - ordered over the telephone and collected in allocated time. All our order was there including a freebie. Thoroughly recommend the lamb chop starter.

Had a lovely meal in this restaurant and the staff were great too. Local and friendly and willing to make it a nice experience. The fool was gorgeous and prices were very reasonable. We had planned to get the 3 courses for £9.95 deal but ended up getting curries from the normal menu as it just looked too good! It still only cost us £15 each and the portions were plentiful. I can't believe that this restaurant is just down the road. Will definitely be visiting again!

Don't be put off by the dated decor, this is one of the best curries in Glasgow. We were in the area, and hadn't been here for a while, so decided to give it a go. We weren't disappointed. I had a delicious chicken tikka, and asked for a separate tikka masala sauce. Gorgeous! I NEVER finish anything on my plate, but honestly, I could have licked it clean tonight, I enjoyed it so much! The nan was cooked to perfection, and the accompaniments made it a meal to remember. Nothing was too much trouble for the attentive staff. Could kick myself for neglecting this place for so long... Will be back soon. Definitely!

This gem of a restaurant is hidden away in Maryhill but its definitely worth going out of your way for. The restaurant is upstairs and yes, it doesn't look very impressive outside but when you go inside the restaurant is spacious with nice traditional decor. The food in the Shish Mahal is fantastic, lovely chicken chatt, naan bread and chicken tikka jaipuri. The staff are welcoming and friendly and will do anything they can to help you, nothing is a problem. The Shish Mahal also offers fantastic value deals (not that the menu is expensive to start with). I went to this restaurant as part of a large group of 20 and we received a discount on our bill. They also offer buffet nights on Wednesdays and Thursdays and a pre theatre deal of 3 courses for only £7.50, which is such good value. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and can't wait to go back!

This is our 3rd visit to this restaurant since New Year. Consistent quality and service. Extensive menu. The owners are very friendly and will come to your table for a chat to make sure everything is ok. If you like Indian food then you must try the Shish Mahal. The nicest onion chicken tikka masala and naan bread I've ever eaten. You'll be hooked once you try it.

Been there a couple of times now with the family. Great relaxed place, very good with the kids - the chef made them a selection of popular curries but kept them mild enough for the younger ones. The staff curry is the one to go for though, somewhat hidden on the menu, just ask.
