What a wonderful experience! The moment we walked through the door we were warmly welcomed. It was a warm day so it was good to have the air conditioning. The staff were lovely and the food was truly amazing! I wish I lived in Hastings I'd go back every week!! Thank you so much, it was one of the best meals I've ever had x

Isabella and Isabell were two fantastic hosts and waitresses. The food was fantastic i would highly recommend. This is our 4th visit. We will definitely be back. Food is 10/10 portion sizes are very big but full of flavour and definitely worth it!!

Date night to celebrate my birthday. We had a minor problem as our main came out twice as we were still eating our starter and we felt a bit rushed, however staff were very apologetic and did their best to find a solution that worked for us, allowing us the break we needed in between courses to actually enjoy our meal. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and with good ingredients. We'd dine her again.

We really love this new restaurant! We first went a few days ago and tonight we went back with friends. Like us they thought the food was brilliant with an original twist on old favourites - portions so generous that we went straight from the delicious starters to the home made baklava. Next time we’ll go straight to the main. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and it was lovely to sit upstairs looking out to sea on a sunny summer’s evening. But if the weather had been poor it’s also warm and cosy inside. It’s in a very pretty old building and has been tastefully restored both inside and out. Highly recommended - we’ll be back there very soon. By the way it’s probably wise to book as the word is getting round!

The staff are friendly and welcoming and an asset to the restaurant. The chef has a consistent approach to his food, with amazing portions sizes. We ending up taking food home because there was so much and even as I sit here writing this I am still picking, because I can't stop eating mmmmmm......

My family had been here several times before. For my nieces birthday party and everyone they bring here ends up coming back for their own parties. We recommend this restaurant.

The food was so so tasty. There was three adults and three children in our party. All were very pleased with their meals. My 6 year old is super fuzzy and he loved it - even decided to try chicken wings for the first time, which is massive as he is a beige foodie. I had the mix shish with yogurt and it was one of the best I’ve had. The staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely give this place a try if you come to Hastings.

Fabulous food! We had lunch here today and were amazed at how much we got. We ordered two dishes and were presented with a feast of delicious flavours after being given a dish on the house to start with. It was all beautifully presented and the staff were very friendly and great! Only two of us were dining but there was enough to feed four! It was all so delicious though that we had to eat it all! Will definitely come back when in the area again.

I've been here a couple of times and the food is the best Turkish in Hastings. I've also attempted to get home delivery from Just Eat, and three times my order has been inexplicably cancelled 5-10 minutes later. My message to the owner is that if you can't do deliveries, then please don't advertise as open on an app. For those that are hungry and looking forward to your food, receiving the cancellation is a disappointment.

One of our favourite restaurants in Hastings. We had a party of 20+ people for a celebration. Delicious food, huge portions, lovely staff and very affordable. It's so good we regularly trek it across the city from eastbourne for dinner. Totally recommend.

We had such a delicious vegetarian lunch here. The crushed salad was a total surprise - heavenly. Gorgeous borek - and as for the baklava! Very friendly staff and we were given a very tasty starter of griddled aubergine and cheese. Must be some of the best food in Hastings.

Easily one of the best meals you could possibly try to find in Hastings. Located in the heart of Hastings town, by the seafront, Shish is a fantastic restaurant that can cater for everyone. Boasting an open kitchen, so you can see the chef Khadir, smiling his way through his shift. Mustafa and the rest of his team are attentive and treat people with great respect. The food cannot be faulted, and looks great due to the food sculptures added to the side. Good selection of wines, but I particularly enjoyed the Turkish. Have been 3 times in the past 3 weeks and won’t be growing tired of it any time soon.

My Friday was gloomy and dull. I pondered how to brighten the evening but felt frustrated, especially with the gloomy weather outside. Then, my friend called me. It wasn't just a friendly call; it was a call that changed my entire week. Wondering why? He invited me to join his group of friends at the Shish restaurant. What can I say? That place completely lifted my spirits — delicious food and stunning decor (see the photo, kudos for the cucumber swan, it's a masterpiece). The falafel was fantastic, and Mustafa, our waiter, was consistently polite, always asking if we needed anything else and even brought extra hummus. I can't find words to describe how happy I am to have discovered this place. I'll definitely come back. Thank you, Shish. You're the best.

Delicious food and amazing service! We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Shish and couldn’t recommend it enough. The food was beautifully presented and arrived in great time. All staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. We can’t wait to visit again!

We rocked up on a wet and wild February Tuesday, with a festival going on at the other end of town, it was unsurprisingly empty. However we decided to go for it and we're delighted. The restaurant didn't empty for long either! Not being overly familiar with Turkish food, we opted for the platter and were not disappointed

This was my favourite restaurant in Hastings, food was amazing and staff lovely, until our last trip, where the superb chicken shish which had previously been made with tender chicken breast, had been replaced with fatty and tough chicken thigh/leg and still the same price. Was unable to eat it. So disappointed, have to find another Turkish restaurant now as won’t be going back!

We had a table booked for lunch for my mums birthday, we were all very impressed! The service was excellent, very kind and attentive staff. Food was delicious, good sized portions, freshly cooked on the BBQ grill. Lovely atmosphere and AMAZING birthday song for my mum! Very accommodating with children and good menu for the kids too. The food and service were phenomenal. Staff was attentive and friendly. Full of flavour and great selection. The hot meze sharer and mixed grill platter is an absolute feast.

We have eaten in and had take aways a fair few times and always been delicious . New Year’s Eve we ordered a chicken shish kebab which has always been lovely grilled chicken bread and my first my husband a mixed grill . My husband’s was as lovely as usual but my shish kebab was chicken parts that were not breast ., I assume thigh or leg or both . Was so disappointed especially as it was also 1.5 hours late ; can live with the given it was new year ) but paid for something that wasn’t as it should have been and ended up with eating just some rice and bulgar wheat!!! Wish I had taken some photos. Such a shame as always been so good

Lovely lunch here today. Excellent service and nice to see the food cooked on a charcoal grill. The platter for 2 was delicious and filling with more than enough for the rest of the family to have some too.

We called in on a midweek day having already seen a menu outside .We were greeted straight away and placed our orders I chose a yogurt kebab ,whilst my wife opted foe a falafel. Whilst we waited we were brought a complementary bowl of Hummus and bread.The kebab was I felt rather over whelmed with yogurt and the pitta bread it was supposed to sit on was hard to detect, the accompanying salad was lovely .My wife's falafels were a little hard in texture ,so overall a little disappointed .Some of the other dishes that people were eating looked good ,so maybe we were just unlucky in our choice..

Best Turkish meal since we were in Turkey service great, lamb casserole really good and the kofte was very tasty, going back again

Me & my friend visited Shish during our first visit in Hastings. We tried platter for 2 and it was incredibly delicious. Our experience was complimented by their friendly staff. If I lived in Hastings I would for sure be visiting there often!

We booked a table of 6 to celebrate the birthday of our colleague. This place left us just amazing memories. We shared a number of small mezes which were delicious and had three platter. I don't eat Turkish food usually but this was really unique. The staff were also friendly. Thank you guys.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Shish. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the decor is oriental and cool. The foods were very tasty, large portions, and good value for money. Really enjoyed the halloumi and borek starter in particular. The food and drinks arrived quickly, and we enjoyed the lamb chops very much. The baklava was also nice, took me back my travel experience in Turkey!

Delicious food, I loved complimentary houmous and bread. Lamb ribs were cooked to perfection, friendly service and atmosphere, highly recommended.

A last minute visit last night with my husband and children. The food was amazing, we ordered a sharing platter for 3 (as one child wouldnt eat a lot) and it was more than enough. The kids really enjoyed it and for that reason we have rebooked for the end of the month!

On the evening of our visit the restaurant had run out if Lamb shish. Given the name of the place and the fact that Lamb shish is a Turkish restaurant staple food, it wasn't a good start. There were only two other couples eating, so six of us in total, and yet we were still having to wait for service of drinks, condiments etc. When the food arrived it had been baulked out with so, so much rice to make up for the missing lamb shish. The chicken was chewey and the bread had been smothered in so much salt, my partner couldn't eat it. The chefs, and the waiting staff were more interested in cooking their own food and drinking beer in the restaurant, than serving us. We eat in other Turkish restaurants, this is not good. The staff are unprofessional, bordering on rude, the food was medicore at best, at worst it was a plate full of rice, with some sub standard lumps of chicken thrown in. Sloppy, unprofessional, very expensive, given the content on the plate, and generally very low standard. Never again.

We visited on our first night in Hastings and it did not disappoint. We shared the cold and hot mixed meze between 5 and then all had our own main courses. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the side rices and salads worked really well together. We ended up getting some extra hummus and bread as we loved the hummus so much! Good value for money too :)

We went here last night for a birthday with a pretty big group. Anata did a wonderful job looking after us and ensuring we were all well looked after. The food was brilliant and great service too. I highly recommend it!

First time going here with some friends and the food exceeded my expectations. I felt like I was actually back in Turkey as it has an authentic feel. From start to finish it was a lovely time. The waitress was very kind and service was very quick. I will definitely be returning here

We are from Southend on sea, we had been travelling back from visiting family. Service was quick efficient and very friendly/polite. Food was absolutely delicious and we honestly mean that. One of the best restaurant's in Hastings the atmosphere is warm and lovely, the service makes you feel important and is spot on and the food well it is incredible your nice and full with out over doing it. The bbq grill is amazing you can watch your food being cook it is all fresh and to order so when the food comes it is succulent and had loads of flavour. The range of food is amazing and it is so well priced. A restaurant we will be back too and will bring the family along again aswell.All round wonderful restaurant lovely staff and outstanding food. We visit several Turkish restaurants. The starter lamb liver cubes were very over cooked and tough. Portion sizes are small for mains. Our platter was 2 skewers short of what was ordered and clearly described and itemised on their menu. When we politely pointed this out to the waiter he was pretty rude and refused to do anything about it. The manner in which this was handled was disappointing and not fair. We won’t be eating there ever again!

What a great meal on a Monday night! Just what was needed after 5 hours on a train. My lamb kebab was delicious and a cold beer hit the spot. The meal was rounded off with a liqueur. Great value and lovely food and staff.

looking at the reviews it sounded perfect, when I rang to book the table I was asked it it was a special occasion I said yes my birthday thinking this was really nice. I am not sure if we went to the same place I had read the reviews about. not the best of welcome, ordered the hot mez as the reviews said there was lots of it, not in our case we thought that as it was for 2 normally too much we thought it would be enough for 4 to just enjoy a taster before the main course. I ordered the Lamb Shish in yogurt. well what can I say, it was a case of find the lamb, they bullked out the dish with soggy bread, very little meat, my son in law had the chicken shish it looked very lonely on the plate, I have to say flavours very lovely but not good value at all. we did feel a bit agrieved as the table next to us was clearly a party of either relatives or family friends and their portions of meat looked a lot more generous. very dissapointed and not what we were hoping for would not go back again. if your are turkish and family or friends of the owners then you will be well looked after. it was my birthday and was looking so much to experieng a taste of Turkey and their fabulous food. I basically paid £15 for my main dish or rice, a bit of salad and fried oninons and a tub of yogurt and soaked bread in a sauce with a bit of lamb. not impresed as the whole bill for 4 came to a £100.

I took my family (five adults, one three year) to Shish to celebrate my 60th birthday and am so glad I did. The food was perfect - authentic, plentiful, and absolutely delicious - as was the decor (the restroom alone deserves an award for design and cleanliness). Most impressive however was the service. From the time I made the booking until the time we left the service we received was professional yet friendly and FAR superior to that we've experienced in a number of other local restaurants. Honestly, I can't rate this place highly enough and it's now the place that I'd recommend to anyone looking for that special dining experience in Hastings (and one, incidentally, that represents exceptional value for money - I literally had to check the bill twice to make sure that we hadn't been undercharged it was THAT reasonable). Five stars, no hesitation whatsoever.

Had my birthday celebration here on Saturday. The first thing you notice is the atmosphere of the place - it's very welcoming with beautiful hanging lamps and the cooking aromas from the barbecue whetting the appetite. Service is excellent from knowledgeable staff. We had the mixed hot meze - highly recommended - with chicken shish and yoghurt to follow - beautifully-cooked with warm breads. Portion sizes were typically Turkish - very generous - and although we were very full, we heroically made room for a lovely baklava with ice cream! Washed down with a lovely Turkish red wine - a bit too drinkable! We left happy and weighing a lot more but it was worth it. This is a great place for dinner!

Food and wine delicious. Service friendly and prompt. Atmosphere lovely. Value excellent. After trying many restaurants in Hastings can honestly say this is the best food-service-value combo my partner and I have found.

We stumbled across this by chance and what a treat! Delicious meze (hummus was amazing!) to start and then we had the sharing platter for main! All the meat was freshly cooked to perfection over hot coals, the lamb in particular was outstanding! Thank you - if we come back to Hastings we will definitely visit again!

This lovely little Turkish restaurant is now our favourite outside old town Hastings. You will be greeted by attentive waiters, served with lovely food and you must try the Turkish wine. Fabulous

The service was very good, the waiter noticed we were vegetarian and so geared the complimentary bread to our dietary requirements. We received a complimentary shot of alcohol at the end of the meal which was a nice surprise. The portions were generous, the food very well presented and cooked to perfection. Lovely atmosphere and decor had a very enjoyable evening here with my partner.

We were up from London for the day for a music event, and are absolutely delighted to have found this superb restaurant. Beautifully cooked and presented fresh food, lovely atmosphere, comfortable seating, courteous and friendly staff, excellent service, and quality puddings. We were also offered a complimentary liqueur. Next time we come to Hastings will be for the sole purpose of visiting Shish for supper. Thank you very much for a wonderful experience.

Sister and I had dinner.... food was excellent and the customer service was outstanding..... you have to try the sea bass if you are a fish lover.... sister had the chicken and loved the chilli side that was like a salsa.... loved it that much she had a side plate with her chicken and ate it all!!!

We were celebrating a family reunion, and did we choose the perfect place. The food was flavorful and generous in size. The service was fast, and I sincerely appreciated their patience with our many requests, followed by change of minds!

There isn't much too he food to be honest, it's well cooked meat and rice / salad. The starters are fantastic, the humus was really good. Had the chicken kebabs for the main course, again really well cooked and super tasty. Kids loved it as well :)

Reviews are often that thing you mean to get around to but never quite do but the food here was simply so great that even though I dithered as usual I just had to shake off my usual review inertia and hit the keyboard. Our meal started with a divinely mouth-watering, crispy borek and each dish thereafter was equally delicious.

Superb food, and excellent service. Our waiter was Volcano, and he was attentive, without being over the top. A memorable evening with friends. Well done Shish.

It's not often you visit a restaurant and everything is perfect. The table, the seating, the music... but Shish in Hastings Old Town was just that. We don't eat in Turkish restaurants because I'm vegan & my partner is vegetarian, basically we don't think there'll be anything to eat! However, Monday night in Hastings there was very little open so, hungry & expectant, we took a chance on the only place open on the corner of a seafront parade just as you enter Trinity Street. We were warmly greeted by our waiter who gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu & make our choices. Turns out I could have a vegan stuffed vine leaf starter simply by replacing the yoghurt with hummus , the vine leaves were soft and piquant & incredibly tasty. My partner had the falafel (also vegan) so I was able to have a crafty falafel too, wonderfully crunchy, served on a bed of heavenly hummus. For mains I had the vegetable casserole, a tagine type dish which came without the rice as our waiter explained the rice was cooked in butter, however I was offered a choice of salad and vegan bread as their normal pitta had an egg glaze. That's the real meaning of vegan friendly! The food was just delicious, our waiter kind and attentive and I wished the night would never end! How's that for perfect!

I've been here many times and the food has always been excellent and the portions extremely generous. Dessert was gorgeous! All is topped by excellent customer care, hospitality and generosity! They have introduced a couple of meal items for vegetarians as well.

I took 3 teens to Hastings on Bank Holiday Monday which was heaving with people. As usual they were HANGRY. We needed a restaurant with a table for 4 and which served vegetarian food and grills for my carnivorous grandson. Shish was like an oasis. We ordered veggie Mezzes and meat mezzes which were all delicious and even the bread came as veggie and non veggie which was cooked over meat juices, yummy. The grills were tender and flavoursome, cooked over a real BBQ and the desserts divine. We had lots of drinks soft and alcoholic and the bill for 4 was about £20 each. The staff were lovely, helpful and efficient even when 2 of my party decided they needed more to eat after the Mezze the late order for the grills came promptly. It will be our ‘go to’ restaurant next time we are in Hastings.

This restaurant was recommended by the B&B; we were staying and it was well worth the visit. Very good atmosphere and service. Good value for what's on offer. Food excellent, we opted for the mixed grill and it was so well prepared and succulent, we must confess we struggle to finish as the serving was beyond our expectation. We really enjoyed every thing. We will not hesitate to recommend this restaurant when you visit Hastings. In our opinion it's one of the best in Hastings.

Very impressed with our first visit here. Complimentary bread and hummus followed by lamb shish which was incredibly tender and well flavoured with good accompaniments. Excellent value for money for both drinks and food. This was our first visit here but will not be our last!

Probably one of the best value for money restaurants in Hastings, Excellent food, the staff were very helpful and the food was great. From the salads and mezes to the meat platter, all great. If you are looking for Turkish food I think Shish is the only place in Hastings to go to. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Ate here last Sunday evening. Everyone was very friendly waiters, customers and everyone seemed to know each other. Had the sharing platter and a bottle of house red. Both were excellent. You need a large appetite to finish this dish. The bread was exceptional. We will be back.

We searched for restaurants near our hotel before our trip to Hastings, and were delighted to find there was a Turkish one nearby. We weren’t disappointed! Great food with a relaxed but efficient service, and well worth the visit.
