Shirley Fish Bar in Croydon

We were searching for fish and chips it was like 10.00 pm we couldn’t find any shops only this was opened. We thought they are going to be grumpy because it was closing time. They welcomed us with big smile and they are happy to serve us. I thought maybe they will give leftovers. But they did it from scratch. Tasty, crispy, fresh fish with thin batter that’s what I like . Well packed in a separate boxes easy to carry without mess. They were friendly and generous. I am not a fish and chips person because I don’t oily, saggy cold and thick batters . I would say this is the best place for fish and chips.

The fish and chips here is delicious! Fried to perfection without being salty or oily. This is my go to fish place, staff is professional and courtesy. Prices are very reasonable and you get large portions. Hands down the best fried fish around. Delish!!!

This is a takeaway. The staff are polite and quick. Their chips are plenty full. You only need one potion for two people.

Food great best fish and chips in the area

Not a restaurant. Just do take-a-way. Excellent fish and chips. O nly problem we live 20minute drive away and by the the we get home the batter has stuck to wrapping but portions and quality of fish are excellent.

The lady who works here is rude and wants a slap. The guys are ok but that woman needs a personality transplant. Food is blah Update: I had to change my review, I have been back a few times because it's the only decent chippy close to me. The guys are always lovely and that God awful woman has left and they have replaced her with a much nicer young lady. The food is not blah, its cooked perfectly the majority of the time. Just goes to show how bad customer service can really leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Over priced and ended up getting food poisoning! The batter was uncooked on the inside of the fish, and the chips were old re fried chips that tasted like cardboard. To top it all off, they don’t take card. Who even uses cash anymore! Keep up with morden times!

Very poor quality fish, still serving food in greaseproof paper and paper bags so by the time you get home the fish coatings have stuck to the paper and falls apart, the chips are soggy from being steamed by their own heat in the bag, haven't they heard of paper boxes..very disappointing, definitely wouldn't be going there again

I have been coming here for years and in my opinion you get some of the best tasting chips in Croydon. Great quality food and efficient service. Highly recommended.

Simply the best fish and chips lovely welcoming staff

Food is generally great. However the girl behind the counter is extremely rude. (There is only one girl) - romanian.. Never smiles and looks miserable to be there. I dont know why the owner hires such a person. Maybe cheap labour cash in hand.. none the less get rid of her or run your business down due to one member of staff!!

100 fish and chips perfectly cooked and on time. Can't rate this shop more highly. Another quiz night and 100 fish and chip suppers all perfectly cooked and all ready on time. Can't say how good the food was. Thanks.

The chips are nicely done. The cod was quite small and thin. There's only a few chippies out there that genuinely give you a complete piece of cod whether it's small or large size. This was not one if them.

Tried for the first time and loved it. Tried Haddock, good quality fish and the batter tasted so good.

Very rude staff food. I swear Old boy in there is lucky I never slapped him... The guys in there have always seemed rude anytime I have been but today was the last straw. If the food was great fair enough but its so average not worth puttig up with the filthy attitude. Will never go back there, Abra kebabra next door much better service and food.

Unfortunately their wrapping loses the batters crispness, but everything is well prepared and tasty.

Lovely fish and chip shop! Staff are so friendly and it can get really busy in here so you know it’s a great fish and chip shop! Portions are great and the fish cooked to perfection! Pies are nice and battered sausage really crispy! If you haven’t been it’s definitely one to visit! Easy to park by to get your food for a cheeky fish and chip Friday!

Used to go to this fish and chip shop all the time but recently, have noticed on Both occasions that the fish is really really oily And it certainly does not taste fresh at all. It's a great shame because this fish and chip shop used to be great.
