Doneagles Fish & Chips in Croydon

Hot and delicious. Would recommend

I used to pop into Doneagles a few years ago and was never disappointed. Saw they were on JustEat and ordered a large Cod with regular chips. Glad to say the Quality is still there. good sized portion too. Very happy 👍

This used to be the best place to get chips from! The veg patties are nice but the chips are not as good as they used to be. Disappointing

Some of the chips tasted like old/off potatoes were used and inedible.

I ordered the fish, chips and sausage. All were very nice, I ordered a small portion of chips and the order was huge, not complaining but it seems like a waste.

Please don’t pour ketchup on chips again

Visited on a busy Crystal Palace match day. Ate in the dining area at the back. Great fish and chips. First class service from very nice people. Thoroughly recommend.

Very good fish & chips. Portions are huge and even the large cod would fill Godzilla.

My husband and I tried this place and recently and we LOVED it! I will definitely be back because we had a great experience overall and the quality of the food was so much better than most places I've been to before.

Please pay attention to me. I went to have chips and fish, which unfortunately was a very unreasonable and ugly behavior, and for which you counted, there were not even ten chips, and it tasted very bad, which I had never experienced before.

At around 6.50pm I ordered my food and it was confirmed that this would be delivered by 7.25. From time to time I checked the app to follow the progress. At around 7.15 it said that the order was in its way, and I followed the track of the courier. It showed the courier as being in my road and at 19.22 it showed as being delivered, even though it’s hadn’t. Initially I wasn’t concerned because it’s quite common for the courier to mark a delivery as complete before ringing the doorbell, but after 10 minutes I was getting concerned. As there was no obvious way of contacting Just Eat I phoned the restaurant to find what was going on. They told me that the courier hadn’t even picked up the food and that it was still there. He phoned Just Eat to find out what was going on. He was told that I would need to ask for a refund and order the food again. As I was supposed to be going out, this seemed too time consuming, so the restaurant gave me a phone number of Just Eat so that I could speak to somebody. It turns out that this number is only for “partners” and the person I spoke to told me he hasn’t been “trained” to speak to members of the public. He directed me to a website where I could use Live Chat. It turns out that this only works with Google Chrome, so I had to install that before I could continue. The first person I spoke to (John) said that the order had been marked as complete and there was little he could do and that if the food hadn’t arrived by 8.25 to contact you again. I called the restaurant again and they were very apologetic saying that at their it was shown as complete, even though they still had the food. The second person (Melanie C) was equally unhelpful and cut me off mid conversation. The third person I spoke to (Kieron G) explained that the courier “made a mistake” by accepting the order and marking it as delivered, even though he had never even picked it up. The order was placed again and I eventually got my food just before 8.30, nearly an hour and three quarters after I had ordered it. As mentioned above, I had been planning to go out. Because of all this, to completely rearrange my plans. For all of this I have been offered the paltry sum of £5 for the “inconvenience”

Cod the size of a whale, great chips and service with a warm smile, very happy, we heartily recommend!

The burger and chips were both overcooked and so dry. I didn't even finish the meal. Also salt or vinegar even though asked for this. Disappointing, used to really enjoy their food.

I received the wrong food order, the food I did receive was cold and soggy! I rang the restaurant and they said there was nothing they could do about it and to just ring just eat to sort it out.. You cant even ring just eat and you never get anywhere when you email them! Disgusting service and mediocre food!

Small shop, but huge portions :). Helpful staff who were able to solve even our dietary requirements. It's about Fast food, the food was simple, but really good and fresh. We would definitely go again and can recommend.

Dreadful soggy batter fish arrived in lots of pieces, broken and stuck to the paper. Chips were good, but won't order from here again

Delivery agent sent to another delivery first in the opposite direction to my address, was also on a bicycle to come up a steep long hill. Amazed it was only half an hour to do a scooter trip of 3 minutes.

Never ordered from here before. Very nice. Food arrived hot. Kids loved the cod strips, they are big enough to make a small fish and chip portion for them and have 4 decent sized strips to enjoy yourself. (Aged 1 and 3). Will order from here again

Unfortunately priority is given to the Uber, Deliveroo and JustEat drivers (unsure why as these companies take on average 40% commission. As a walk in customer I was served a small piece of cod that was dry, they must have realised this as they also added a piece of plaice which was also old and unwanted. They tried to hide the problem with a mountain of chips.

Fresh Panko squid rings? Were they squid rings, or were they overcooked onion rings? The cheese and onion pasty was a vegetable pasty which I don't like. Curry sauce was watery. So overall, pretty disappointing

Chicken wings so heavily breaded they were like rocks and inedible. Chips nice but cod was just ok, not big flakes but the tail end for both pieces.

Cod was overcooked and rock hard on the bottom, not the usual standard. Chips and pie were good.

New owners, I had cod pieces and chips 10 out 10, and large chips for the staff at the children's centre and they were impressed with the chips and asked where I got them from and then lot are fussy.

I usually don’t have a problem with this place, and ok I didn’t have to wait an hour like I did 1 time a few years ago, but 30 minutes, well that’s still way to long. As soon as I walked in I could smell oil, something didn’t smell right, it was like the oil was off or hadn’t been changed. When I got home I proceded to eat my chips and they tasted nasty. Soggy, and you could taste the oil. The fish was WORSE! Absolutely horrid it was soft and mushy and had no flavour whatsoever. I’m happy to wait if they cook your food fresh which he did but I expect better as this place is usually spot on. Also the same issue as that time I had to wait an hour, the Deliveroo/just eat driver curse. You care more about delivery orders when you have paying customers waiting in line to be served. Next time I go in there I’ll order based on who served me the good quality I’ve come to expect I came back again 2nd June in the evening and it was spot on. Just the wait times again were long. I explained my previous experience and the same guy was apologetic which I appreciated. Why did it take an age to reply here though? Guys we live in the 21st century you need to look at online reviews
