Very nice cosy pub with friendly staff, just had drinks so can't comment on food. Had an open mic singing night while there and that was fun to listen to. Beer we had was tasty and well kept, will visit again.

Live music, Great Local Ales, Relaxed and full of Nice People. They even kept my jacket for me, when I left it.....for a week! After doeing gig nights in Manchester, the Shire was up close and personal.....Spot On the Shire!

Used it as a meeting place to meet up with some work colleagues before going on to a restaurant Very friendly bar staff, had no problems opening up a Tab This was a Saturday evening and had some live music on, not my taste in music, but I have to say very well done and all the other revellers really enjoyed it. can’t comment on the food.

It's a spit and sawdust type of pub but the staff are nice and regulars friendly, beer garden good and cheapest round in town so overall a good thumbs up 👍

(26-12-22) Our seventh and final pub and it was like an old pub with beams inside and a small bar by the door, local beers and big name brewery's, got served and seated and had a great time, locals friendly and offered us to use the buffet and put 'oasis' on for us, we loved it.

Great drinking den in a proper old real ale pub. Friendly staff, great choice of beer. Great jukebox ,good coons. Nice open fire to put in the mix as well.

I love the old feel to this pub, there's an almost ancient style to it 😃 Virtually nobody there whenever I go during the week, usually only a couple people in, busy at a weekend though.

Friendly staff & good atmosphere 👌

After habitually getting the bus into town I habitually walked into the Shire Horse, always good crowd in there creating a great atmosphere add to this the excellent beer and pleasant service, what more could you need? We left after a couple of hours as we had a table booked in a nearby restaurant but after dining we habitually returned to the Shire Horse for final drinks before catching the bus home. A perfect evening and looking forward to the next time.

I live out of town so have to take a bus in and out of Kettering for a night out. This puts the Shire Horse in an ideal spot as my bus drops off alongside the pub and my return bus picks up right opposite. A proper drinkers pub with a welcoming open fire in the winter. Good ales and really friendly staff and locals, you're never alone in here unless you want to be.

Always a good place to see friends make friends have a drink listen to some music and chill in the garden also try to annoy someone .. Check the pubs pages fb etc for up coming events some banging live bands in there ..the food is good too Land lady's not too shabby either (Marketing Nina ;)) please don't ban me sorry not sorry ⭐😂😂 150 lad points for that!

Bit of a building site feeling. Bar has been moved. No longer a pool table at the front of the house as remembered from years ago.

Popped in yesterday pm for a jacket potato but nearly plumped for the massive and gorgeous looking ploughmans. I'll do that next time when I have a bigger appetite. Beautiful log fire

Had a good lunch. We had scampi and chips and pheasant and onion burger with chips. A good plate full. Washed down with two pints. Felt very safe.

This is a proper beer drinkers pub. There must have been 10 ales available on tap, as well as the usual lager and cider choices. Saturday night was busy, there was a live band on and a great place to hang out, meet friends and chill.

Really liked this pub had a fire smoky smell lots of plate and spoon collections brass and jugs hanging about. Cakes and barms on offer and a large selection of real ale

The Shires is a traditional ale-house with a large choice of beers. Food is a new development at this establishment. The Sunday roast is excellent value, huge portions with a choice of gravy.

Stopped in today for a late Sunday Lunch - our first time to try the Sunday roast as we had heard it was good. As the pub us doggy friendly and we were out walking the hound it was an ideal stop over for a late 2.30 lunch on a very cold day - they serve from midday to 6pm I believe. I had the Pork and Crackling and my wife has the Lamb. All I can say is that it was absolutely brilliant food and loads of it... quality meat and all very well cooked with loads if lovely veg, Yorkshire and your choice of different gravy that come in a seperate small saucepan. Huge range if quality real ales and Spirits plus astounding food at great prices in a very friendly relaxed atmosphere. It really was that good. This will now be a regular event for us for sure. 😊😊😊😊😊😊

Always nice to have a live band playing and they were really good. Most bands they have seem to be really good. Good selection of beers and ciders and nice atmosphere. What's not to like?

Lovely pub, great ales and gin selection. It has maintained its authentic charm but has a modern feel. Roaring fires and good music make it a good place to relax on your way to a night out or a post work tipple. Good atmosphere and I visited after a stomp round town Christmas shopping, for a well earned foot rest and a cheeky ale.

The Shire is my local pub and I love it. Proper traditional beers and ciders and a nice log burner to keep you warm. Also Dog friendly which is great for me. If you like live music they also have bands playing most weeks.

A really good pub for a drink . The people are lovely and the atmosphere is really nice. I would definitely recommend it if you are going for a drink with friends for a good catch up. Although there is only bar snacks so don't go if you are hungry and need a meal.
