For any music-lovers, and particularly folk music lovers, The Ship is a fascinating destination. With hundreds of years of history of hosting gigs (ongoing!) and open mics, and great photo collection on the walls of gigs gone by, it is well worth a visit. Drinks are reasonably-priced and the staff very friendly. We will be back!

Dire! The proliferation of one and two star ratings tell you a lot….as does the lack of reply by management. First problem having arrived hungry to stay overnight was that no food was available despite the fact that all tables carried menus as did the chalk boards. (We found an excellent pub/Italian restaurant in Snape, the Crown Inn, but we were lucky it had spaces). Second problem was that the booked rooms were not available despite one having been paid extra for as a superior room ( it might be that booking.com gets the blame for that). Young bar staff had no idea of how to deal with our problems. Rooms were also cold with unresponsive radiators. When we returned from breakfast the radiators were full on….bit late by then! To be fair room was clean and bed comfortable. View from our bedroom window was sadly of a forlorn picnic bench surrounded by rubbish (garden view?) Very abrupt greeting by the landlord for breakfast. The doors were unbolted at 8:33, but cooked breakfast was Ok apart from no sausage delivery yet! An extra slice of bacon would not have gone amiss. Overall not a joyful experience, so many niggles apart from those above, but it could be….such potential if customers were given more thought.

Think John Cleese in Faulty Towers. AVOID AVOID AVOID until they get a better manager !! I am very sad to say that I can no. Longer recommend Blaxhall ship …it is still is Beautiful Traditional pub ( treasured for its character, visible history & cosy atmosphere ….not “in need of a makeover”(( read character wipe )) as one review suggests) The Ship is famous and much beloved especially in the Folk, Music and Country pub lovers worlds ..and by our Morris side who meet weekly in the villiage and have always had a wonderful symbolic relationship with both pub and managers HOWEVER the NEW MANAGER IS EXCEEDINGLY RUDE AND INHOSPITABLE Worst Experiece I have ever Had anywhere ! Please note it was not busy..there were only two other (rather shocked) customers at one table in the bar so the following behaviour cannot be even partially excused on account of being overworked. Two of the dancers and I popped in yesterday , as soon as we entered , before we had even picked a table or removed our coats we were asked what we wanted to drink ….from then on the manager stood behind the bar either staring at us or at the ceiling as if we were trying his patience ..not a great welcome but we were looking for a light lunch ie Toasted Sandwich ,Cheesy Chips or similar . So we asked if this was possible and were told , in no uncertain terms , that we could only have one of the three basket meals on the chalk board menu …the board offered Scampi, Whitebait or another choice in the basket but did not actually mention chips “that includes chips does it ? “ my companion enquired politely …the manager looked at us with barely concealed irritation and repeated sternly “I TOLD you , we are only serving what’s on the board” Ok “May we have a Hot Chocolte Please?” “You can only have tea or coffee “ .was the testy reply . (this was odd as they still have the Same machine which has been producing Hot Chocolate for years..but hey ho ) I and my friends were feeling rather stressed by this man’s manner but gave him the benifit of the doubt and asked for Coffee “ Coffee is £4 per cup and you can have as many refills as you want , I will set it up for you” I only wanted one cup “”it’s four Pounds”and was not prepared to pay such a steep price so told him not to bother and my group turned our minds to food Deciding to share , I asked for a white bait and a scampi ..and May we have extra chips with the scampi please ? , ( seeing his glare I added in the same basket , not a seperate ,portion ) I am happy to pay extra”. The manger went into a barely Contained Faulty towers moment , a palpable threat was in in the air as he spoke voice louder, almost shouting “ I HAVE ALREADY TOLD YOU TWICE , YOU CAN ONLY HAVE WHATS ON THE BOARD!!!” “I’m willing to pay extra” “We do not have the facilities to take extra money “ was the very stern Reply …as he stood behind the till. By now my friends and I were feeling very uncomfortable so decided to LEAVE to find a more welcoming establishment . I told the manager that I have worked in the service industry for many years and have never heard anyone be so rude to customers..”I have been in the trade forty years “he avowed “Not round here you haven’t “l replied ( despite his behaviour I was polite and forbore to ask what kind of establishment had employed him for so long …Conentration Camp, ? Prison Canteen . or ..Rowdy all night Glasgow Weatherspoons perhaps certainly no gentle Suffolk establishment) At this point my companion made it clear that we would not be back and would tell our friends and fellow dancers of our distressing experience. “Yes “ he said with aggression “l think you better leave” and rushed to open the door before we could. “ ..I OWN this place “ he growled “Oh” said my Daughter ,(as she struggled to get her wheelchair over the tricky door threshold ) has Terry Sold it then ?” The Manager seemed a little surprised ..perhaps at last realising he had committed the cardinal sin of small isolated country pubs by offending the locals “I OWN FOURTY NINE PER CENT he affirmed almost stamping a petulant little foot Now…. IF THIS MAN THINKS 49% SHARE IS OWNERSHIP …..WOULD YOU WANT HIM ADDING UP YOUR BAR BILL ??? I love this Pub and have been a regular visitor for many, many Years especially as I used to work in Blaxhall But yesterday, even though we were already leaving, The Manager kicked us out (a first for all of us women) and told us “never Come back ,you or your friends or Dancers” SO we fled to the Plough and Sail, a smart Pub at Snape Maltings a couple of miles from the ship and explained , as we were shown to our table, why we were still shaken by our Blaxhall ordeal. “You are not the first to have had this experience” said Amy our friendly waitress in her jolly Christmas top . After perusing the rather upmarket menu , when the lovely Amy brought a complimentary Jug of water…I asked if there was any possibility of simple Cheesy Chips .and Hot Chocolate “ Of Course she smiled and Rushed off soon returning with our lunch ,both delicious and reasonably priced. We all felt warmed and welcomed so until they Change the unpleasant , unwelcoming and unprofessional Manager at our Dear Blaxhall ship …and beyond I can Highly recommend The PLOUGH and SAIL at Snape

We dropped on for Sunday lunch. Not a great atmosphere and not busy. But lots of beers on offer and a roast I don’t understand why it was trying to be fancy food… why have mange tout ( needed de stringing) and pea shots and a jus… just have local seasonal veg and proper gravy! Personally i liked the parsnip fries We thought the meat a little tough Probably not rushing back but I guess a reasonable price It wasn’t particularly welcoming but I suspect a good locals pub

We stayed for one night at this hotel. The food was pretty average in the evening. I had scampi and chips and though the portion was generous it wasn’t the best. The worse was to come at breakfast time. The cooked breakfast was obviously not cooked fresh that morning. The sausage was reheated and tepid, the poached egg’s white was runny, the bacon hard and inedible as was the mushroom which was so dried up that I could had to spit it out. The room was adequate but nothing special. The WiFi didn’t work in the room. We wanted to come into the bar a bit ahead of the 8.30 breakfast time just to sit and use the WiFi and the staff were very rude and told us in a grumpy manner that they would not open before eight thirty even when all we wanted to do was sit there, not expecting to be served breakfast early and had made that clear.

Must have been advertised incorrectly. If this was a superior room, I really wonder what the basic rooms are like. Thick dust on the blinds, cobwebs around the windows, dead flies, a water stain on the ceiling, the shower cubicle was disgusting (black mould, limescale). could have swept the floor before we arrived.NEVER AGAIN!!

My 94 yr old mother and I were in Suffolk for a family party, staying 3 nights at The Ship. Arrived to a very hostile reception. I had booked chalet 7 for my mother as it was advertised as accessible having ramped access to the room, and a large en suite wet room. Room 7 is one of four rooms situated at the top of a very steep drive about 40m (I paced it out) up from the rear of the pub. There is a blue disabled parking sign on the side of a barn at the top of the drive. I initially parked in the car park across the road and went in to get the keys and to advise that I needed to take the car up the drive so that I could park as close to chalet 7 as possible as my mother's mobility is limited. I had been greeted by Rebecca who was fine until I mentioned access to the room and was the told very firmly that cars were not allowed to drive up to the chalets. Sean, the manager, was called and confirmed Rebecca's advice. I explained that I had specifically booked chalet 7 because of its accessible features. But both S & R were adamant. I commented that it was unhelpful to advertise rooms with accessible features, and to display a disabled parking sign. Sean became extremely loud and aggressive accusing me of telling him how to do his job . He simply could not understand that making a room accessible is not enough...people need to be able to reach the room in the first place! He remained adamant, so I had no option but to request a refund (having no idea where we would stay instead). However, at that point he backed down and relented stating that I could drive up to the room as long as I didn't move my car before 10am , and returned to the rooms before 10pm (so as not to disturb the other guests). I was happy to comply with this. It turned out that Sean had taken over as manager after I had booked the room in April. Apparently, the previous manager was worse! Rebecca was later fine with me and chatty when we arrived to eat in the bar that evening. What I experienced from the manager was disability discrimination plain and simple. Despite the unpleasant attitude the rooms were OK being spacious and clean with microwave, fridge and kettle. The meals in the pub were also good. Basic pub grub but tasty and the service was good. Beware, the website is not kept up to date. Such a shame, this could be a great place...but we will not be returning.

AVOID AVOID AVOID worst place we’ve ever stayed in. Rude and belligerent manage/ owner. Does not know to treat customers at all. Despite leaving our curtains open for all to see the room was vacant, room was not serviced. Fault’s which we notified him about were not addressed. Area outside of the “room” was wild, weeds everywhere and uneven paving. Rooms are from the 60’s and obviously nothing spent on them in years. List of faults too many to mention here. Two persons staying gave us one pack of biscuits with two in it. Tea bags one per person. Emergency lamp above entrance to “room” was hanging on its electric wire, not secured to the ceiling. Toilet seat was sliding about as it was not properly secured to the basin. Only way of holding the shower head at the right height was by using the soap dish as the pole for holding the head at the correct height and angle was broken. Radiator in the bathroom was rusty and painted coating was falling off. Loose Tiles in bathroom were laid against the wall. WiFi is not available in the rooms, only available in the pub. Poor breakfast one tiny mushroom cut into pieces to make it look more. 1/4 of a fried tomato, one rasher of bacon, one sausage. Only jams were apricot and black currant, no raspberry or strawberry available. Jams that had been previously opened out back on the rack By far the worst place we’ve stayed.

I stayed here with friends for a wedding. I was asking if a room would be ready early as we needed to leave for the wedding before official check in time. I was told that they could not change the order of house keeping and that the computer would show green when it was done! I said that it wasn’t a problem but perhaps they could leave my key in a friend’s room who had stayed the night before and was staying for 2 nights. No that apparently was not possible , but he would give me an emergency number that I could ring when we were on our way home at 1.00am. I asked if he was ok with me waking him up at that time and he said that was fine. Just before we left for the wedding I checked to see if the room was by any chance ready and lucky enough it was, so he gave me the key and said that I needed to pay an extra £10 for an early check in. How ridiculous, the room was ready and I was only going to put my bag in, take the key and then come back after the wedding!!! I returned the key saying no thanks and that I would just ring home later and hoped not to wake him up!!! When I actually got into the room it had cobwebs and spiders and lots of flies! The bed was comfy, the bar staff very pleasant but the room disappointing and the landlord I found lacking in any form of hospitality!

I have used the Ship Inn for a number of years as a base for a group of dinghy sailors who go out from Orford. I have met various managers over this time. I use the Ship Inn as the rooms are large, it can accommodate a large of people comfortably and it does breakfast and evening meals. The location is perfect for walking, cycling and in my case sailing. I found the rooms clean, the showers hot and Sean and his staff friendly. It was clear that Sean had recently taken over as Manager and he was doing his best to improve standards. The Ship Inn is not a boutique hotel and could be described as a little rough round the edges. But I find it welcoming and it has plenty of character and atmosphere. I will be back again next year.

Our room, described as superior, was pretty ordinary. There was a shower with wash basin and toilet , which were all quite adequate. But the breakfast was simply bits and pieces of what one might have at home, cereal, toast etc, but no pastries or cold meats or cheese, which is what one expects from a "continental" breakfast. We had to ask for bowls and cutlery and the person serving began to clear away after half an hour. An elderly couple of guests had had their car damaged overnight by a driver who drove away without leaving a note. This was very upsetting for them, but the hotel staff were almost entirely unhelpful. Presumably the landlord didn't want to admit liability, but as there was a sign in the car park saying use was at one's own risk, there was no need to be so careful. The driver simply wanted a confirmation from the hotel owner that the damage had occurred there and during their stay, to verify their insurance claim, but this wasn't forthcoming. I wouldn't have wanted to stay another night in such unwelcoming conditions.

Gave it four stars as although its probably a little overpriced there is not much else to compete in the area and the food is surprisingly good and different. Our recent stay here should have been good. The old pub was in a very quiet village overlooking fields covered with white butterflies. The staff were very friendly, the food was good, the room was basic, but that was fine, however it was marred by the filthy shower room. The shower attachments didn't look as though they has been cleaned for months with staining where the shower tray met the wall. The wash basin had a dirty ring round it, the lavatory seat didn't fit and there was a big crack in the lid. It was too late to find somewhere else to stay, otherwise we would have left.

I replied no but I had rang and booked a table which she replied that they had tried to ring and say they couldn't this is a complete lie as i had spoken to somebody. Told us she couldnt do it then went and spoke to the chef who said they could but it would be a wait. We said that's fine then she shoved us outside literally so she could do something which we replied we would sit outside and she couldnt be bothered to move cutlery so with that we left. Very rude and was horrible considering we where local and booked. Then was left trying to find breakfast somewhere else which was tricky so short notice. wouldn't recommend

As our usual Tuesday boules was rained off and feeling bored we decided to go to the Ship for dinner, my husband said he would book a table. Rainy night, country pub, no need to bother I said. But I was wrong, when we got there all the tables were reserved , including ours fortunately as the food was delicious. My husband had his favourite rabbit pie made we were later informed with locally shot rabbit and a gravy sweetened with carrot, it was bursting with meat and the vegetables were fresh and tasty. I had the sea food, a very tasty fish pie with prawns and plenty of scrummy sauce. Somehow my husband managed sticky toffee pud but I helped him out and I can highly recommend, well worth the calories. The service was friendly and professional and there was a happy dining buzz to lift our spirits. As the price was reasonable too we will be making this a regular mid-week treat, thanks Rob and staff for a great evening. We can also recommend the music nights especially if you can catch John Ward on a Sunday afternoon.

This area is blessed with plenty of good places for a Sunday roast. This is not one of them. Fortunately I chose sausages, which were okay, though served on a massive mound of mash and with some overcooked cabbage and green beans and some al dente carrots. No mattress protector on either beds and no means of turning down he heating, website states WiFi available but none whilst we visited; with 2 children in the party an absolute must! At no time were we spoken to about accommodation and no one to ask only very uninformative young bar staff. We happily bought more drinks and also asked for menus which we were given. However when we tried to order we were told that food was only being served to residents. This was disappointing and made us wonder why had we been given menus in the first place? In previous years we have always eaten our first holiday meal here and always been made welcome, returning over the course of our stay. Unfortunately this year will be different.

Steak and onion pie great, full of tender beef. Couldn't really enjoy the meal though as we were freeeeeezing cold. Don't sit at table near the bar it's right in a draught. Then I overheard the Landlord tell the barmaid not to put more logs on the fire or it'd get too hot! Followed by Landlord asking customer not to keep barmaid talking as she had work to do! Wow, how rude to say that to a paying customer! Would you not just ask staff to get on with work?? Final straw came when I "dared" to ask for a cup of tea after my meal, the look I got! You might think it but don't let your face show it! If I wasn't so cold I wouldn't have asked for tea, apologies that pouring boiling water on a teabag was too much trouble. Landlord sounds like a Geordie and they are known for being friendly...... not this one, don't think the hospitality trade is for you. Young barmaid was exact opposite, couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming, a credit to the place.

We stayed in room 7 for the nights of Aug 8th, 9th, 10th. This is an 'adapted' room for those with limited mobility, but it is to the rear of the Inn and up a steep slope. The steepness of this slope is such that anyone who has to push an occupied wheelchair up to the chalets would need to be fit and strong. This fact was not made clear at time of booking and is not evident from the Ship Inn website. My wife, who has MS, was unable to manage this slope, which meant that I had to repeatedly drive up and down the 30 yards to collect and return her safely.

Lovely country pub but don't go here with children as the language by the table of locals by the bar is appalling, no vegetarian meals on the menu, ordered minestrone soup and what arrived was vegetable which tasted awful due to a huge chunk of lemon in the soup, no manager on site to rectify the problem, the very young barman and waitress were excellent but there should be someone else with managerial experience on site. Also food is not served all day as the website would lead you to believe and the menu on the website is not current.

This is a friendly Pub with local and visiting musicians who make you feel you belong. We were made very welcome by Managers, Mike and Sue. They serve excellent, home cooked food all day. We stayed in ideal, separate, neat chalets for B&B with countryside views. Superb location to visit Aldeburgh and join all the music events during the Summer Festival. We went to an orchestral concert at Snape Maltings, only 2 miles down the road!

I stayed here whilst on tour with an orchestra and it was very comfortable, clean and tidy. This is a very rural location but close to Snape Maltings for the the concert halls and Aldeburgh for the beach and fish 'n' chips! I was impressed by the quality of the breakfast included and was very glad to find tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Many thanks for a nice stay!

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 1.35, the lady behind the bar said kitchen closes at 1.45pm very shocked at this my friends and I hurried and ordered, chicken and mushroom risotto £10.95 a chicken ceasar salad again £10.95 and a steak and kidney pie with chips and vegetables £10.95, a couple had came in just after we had ordered and they were turned away due to kitchen closed!, the risotto was missing mushrooms and the chicken had a very odd taste as if it was packet chicken from tesco unfortunately other than the chicken tasting rather foul it had no taste, the chicken salad had what could only be described as a watered down mayo on a large bed of iceberg lettuce with the same odd tasting chicken, the steak and kidney pie was ok just missing kidney, the best thing out of all 3 plates had to be the chips!!! the woman behind the bar seemed very stand off and unapproachable so we didn't bother to complain or ask for our money back, we did how ever finish our drinks outside where we saw the chef leaving at roughly 2.15pm we drank up and headed to thorpeness kitchen which I highly recommended

We visited The Ship Inn on recommendation from my family. We stayed in 2 chalets, and our friend bought her 2 dogs with her. We arrived a little early but managed to check-in early. We stayed in the disabled access chalet and it was clean and the wet room was huge! Plenty of tea, coffee, toiletries & free towels. We had a meal that evening and the food was ok, the staff were fine with us bringing the dogs in which was great. Close to woodland & heathlands just 5 minutes walk. Only a few miles from the seaside. Can recommend for a break, especially for dog owners, as the staff were very accommodating.

Can't fault the warm greeting on arrival, excellent and quick service. Food was good with a range of choice. Just a shame the owner felt the need to ruin the whole experience by moaning to staff more than once infront of paying customers. Just rude.

We stayed for 2 nights in February at The Ship Blaxhall. We were greeted by the friendly staff working in the pub itself and they were preparing for an open mike evening at the same time, so the pub was busy and bustling. Our room was nice, a wam modern design, a chalet style building behind the pub itself. There was plenty of space abs storage, we had a family room with bunks as well as the double. The TV was quite small, difficult to watch if laying on there was no hair dryer but shower was good pressure with plenty of hot water and the whole place was lovely and warm. We ate 2 evening meals which were good pub Faye. Nicely served and dessert of sticky toffee pud was delicious. Open mike night was good entertainment they clearly have regular local musicans doing the circuit.

Had a pint of Woodforde's Wherry and a bowl of chips while out walking with the family and dog. Landlord was welcoming, beer was top notch and the chips were fresh, hot, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. What's not to like. We visited during the day but it looked like there was a folk music scene here. Dog and muddy boot friendly.

We stayed for weekend as we have done before. Accommodation good clean and comfy. My only disappointment this time was the breakfast for our friends. We recommended The Ship to them and they are vegetarian. Last time we stayed the vegetarian breakfast was two eggs, beans, mushrooms and tomatoes with Hash Browns to replace the meat. Our friends pre booked vegetarian breakfasts but all they were served was one egg, mushrooms, beans and one plum tomato. No extras no meat replacement. Felt a little disappointed that no effort was made for them. The bar allows dogs in which was good.

Popped in to this lovely old traditional country pub after a visit to Snape Maltings. Hidden away but well worth searching out.Good traditional, homecooked pub grub perhaps a little overpriced but then, that's the area.(Far better value than Snape itself and Aldeburgh). The real ale was superb (Adnams and Wherry we chose). The Ship is set in an unspoiled corner of Suffolk and is charming in an unpretentious way. We sat outside in the sun surrounded by quiet countryside with rural sounds of sparrows tweeting and combine harvesters thundering past. The food was disappointing, just ordinary pub meals. I asked for my sausages to be well cooked, burnt even. The charming barmaid said she would ask for this to be done. Unfortunately they arrived medium cooked on one side only. She volunteered the information that the chef said they were not allowed to burn sausages. An EU regulation? The vegetables were cold. My husband's Spanish omelette was a better choice, he said. Not a classic one, but plentifully stuffed. A good Aspall cider.

We stayed in Blaxhall as it was the only hostel we could find in Suffolk. Around the corner from the hostel is the Ship Inn. It is a little pub with heaps of character. The meals were well priced and very tasty. They had a few local ales on tap which we sampled. I wasn't a fan but my mate enjoyed the couple he had. The owners were very friendly. The dogs in the pub contribute to the character and atmosphere, especially Max, who knows where his place is. By the time we had finished our meals and drinks the place was nearly packed. Quite a big turn out considering we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

Arrived about 6.30 to find most of the outside tables full, and all the tables inside reserved, but squashed on the end of someone else's table, was told if we ordered quickly then we could get food, I had lasagne and salad and it was excellent, hubby had the steak and kidney pie and was very happy as not only was it pie (not a lie) but it had a suet case yum yum! Think there was some folk evening going on, shame we couldn't hang around to find out what was going on, this really is an excellent traditional English pub with good home cooked food and a great line up of entertainment, will make sure we book next time and plan!

We stopped for lunch and once we had ordered we sat down inside. We noticed quite a few flies inside and noticed that the fly deterrent screen was tied up with string. When the food came out the flies had apparently told their friends and we were inundated by loads of the little blighters! The pub grub filled the hole in our respective stomachs but the flies were a massive pain. Shame on The Ship Inn as the fly deterrent screen is not for us but to protect food in the kitchen. I am sure the owner wouldn't be happy if the EHO took stars away from him for this, so perhaps he will let the chain link screen down for everyone's Health and Safety.

FREE bowls of beef stew and bread were made available, not just for the musicians but the audience too! ...what is all the hype about? It's a basic pub with lots of half-cut locals and even more dogs..The pretty rude owner/manager keeps carrying her 2 Dachshunds around (if they're not asleep on the banquet seats where they take up your space),and seems to only put them down to serve you food-quite off putting and not very hygienic. The tables are sticky, the pepper&salt cellars grubby&sticky and the menus need a good scrape down to stop them from being sticky!!The food is so average that there's nothing to write about...Breakfast was ok, though. We had the "de-luxe"- room booked (£85 p/n)and whilst the bed was large&clean the bathroom was a shocker: the door full of dirty finger prints, the plughole full of hair, the shower tray had dead flies in it and the rim of the shower tray was just too disgusting for words-does anybody ever inspect this bathroom???It is in so much need of TLC, the floor tiles need a good clean(had to put my towel on the floor ,of course there wasn't a bath mat), ventilation fan is full of cobwebs, the wall paint scratched and badly marked and the mould in the shower needs dealing with, too. And despite it being a double there's only one mug to make a cuppa-that is if you wanna touch the extremely sticky kettle ;0)It's definitely the worst value for money place I've ever stayed at and makes the nearby YHA look like a fancy "de luxe" hotel!!

Lovely country pub marred by the rude owners. I may have just visited on a bad day but the owners were very unapproachable, hostile and unwilling to help. Our table had last nights dinner on it and was generally very sticky. A dirty tissue on the windowsill from......when? Can't fault the food though. Unfortunately for them there are many pubs in the area and if they are relying on people revisiting, they've lost out this time. You only get one shot. Good luck.

We knew nothing about the pub before we lunched here but we are very glad we tried it. We were welcomed by the barman as we walked in and were soon in conversation with him and one of his regulars. The food and beer were good.A large area is set aside as a restaurant and the rest of the place is a proper pub. There are board games, a log fire, and photos of regulars and pub events. (including the regular music events.)They have B&B chalets which I believe are very popular. Why not ? The pub has everything you need.A real gem.

Poor. We arrived at the start of the day with few other customers. I had the full English which looked picture perfect. However, it was largely cold, especially the beans which I didn't eat. The sourdough toast was so thin it tastes and looked like a flatter Ryvita wafer. I would not recommend this as a destination for breakfast and won't be returning.

Lovely pub which has retained its old world charm, friendly bar staff and management. Pete was really helpful and welcoming. Our evening meal much better than we expected - freshly prepared and great choices. Breakfast simply excellent. We took our dog and the room was more than adequate with easy access to outside for early morning walks. On site parking, lovely position and pub garden. Easy walk into Southwold or catch the ferry.
