Shimla Palace Indian Restaurant in Fife

Ordered a takeaway online for collection, arrived home to find the order wrong, one meal was incorrect. 10 attempts to get through on the phone, eventually got through and advised by a young lady she would send the placement meal out, waiting over an hour called back to be told will be delivered, 3hrs later still nothing obviously not interested they had there money, very disappointed have gave up, a child that had poppadoms and nann bread for dinner, a complete waste of money and a horrible atmosphere, will certainly be a while before considering going back for takeaway or meal at the restaurant.

We really enjoyed the buffet dinner. We went to Shimla Palace for a late Father's Day get together when every one could make it. Food was excellent. Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful, but never intrusive. Two of our group have dietary restrictions and allergies, so were a bit concerned about how we would manage at a buffet - we need not have worried, the staff were very helpful and even cooked two different curries specially to suit their requirements. It was all excellent value too! We were very impressed and will eat there again often.

We have been coming here for past 12 years. Food and services is really good. Staff are really friendly and always ready to help out. Highly recommended for Indian buffet Dinner.

2nd visit and I can honestly say the food and service was excellent the staff don’t hassle or rush you would definitely recommend a visit

Ordered at 17.25 , called restaurant at 19.30 to ask where meal was. Took money fr om bank but didn't pass order to kitchen I was told would deliver asap . Still waiting at 20.05 shocking service never will I order from them again.

Visited 16th December for our annual meet up with some friends. The restaurant had a steady flow of customers however it wasn’t as busy as we have experienced in the past. The food was good however we were asked several times as the evening went on if we wanted more food and felt quite rushed on this visit. We were by no means overstaying our welcome and left before their closing time of 11pm.

Ordered a delivery from this restaurant tonight and my garlic naan was forgotten, not a big deal I just phoned up and asked them to send it out. I spoke to a lady on the phone who was very nice and said she would send one as soon as possible. Then I received a phone call from a man’s mobile saying he was phoning from shimla because I did receive a naan as he packed it himself. I informed him that I definitely did not receive anything and he continued to be rude and argue with me. He insinuated that I was a liar and had it there, as if I would go to all this trouble for a £3.50 naan bread?Eventually he said he would send one out but by this point I told them not to bother and to pick up untouched delivery as I wanted my money back. I am just honestly baffled. I have ordered numerous deliveries from Shimla for years with no issues but I won’t be ordering ever again after this experience.

Choose to go for the buffet big mistake most of the food was dried out when I asked to have some fresh stuff it feel on deaf ears. Asked for water and had to ask again poor service. Will not be going back in a hurry ☹️

I had booked this venue to hold the bash for my 75th birthday, and I have to say, that for quality of food, and value for money, it was totally EXCELLENT! There was approx 20 of my family with me, and after canvassing their opinions, EVERY one of them had thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service! That was me at 75 down to my youngest grandson at 6 years old! BRILLIANT!!!!!

Ordered a meal to be delivered at 7pm. Meal arrived at 6.15pm, when I said to the delivery driver I had ordered it for 7pm as that was when the family would be in. His retort to me was you can’t really complain as it is early not late. I replied to him and stated that the family would not be home to eat for at least 30 minutes. He turned and said to me “well don’t bother ordering from us again then” I said to him not to be so cheeky and he replied with the same statement as above don’t order from us again. I told him I was going to phone Shimla to complain about his attitude to the customer. He said feel free I don’t care. On top of all that the food was cold and not at its best. Won’t be placing an order there again

Christmas Dinner with family. As always, the restaurant was full with many families enjoying the atmosphere and delights of Namaste Shimla Palace. The staff are always very friendly and the food exceptional. I say exceptional not just for this visit but every visit for the last twenty years. Thanks to Kash Mira Ona Pandi, Bikram, Krishna Narin and all the chefs and other staff for a most enjoyable Christmas Dinner.

Food stale and sat in heaters for hours. A literal dogs dinner of place. Also overcharged me and shortchanged me too. I wondered why the place was dead, I was the only one in there.

Absolute rubbish. Briyani turned out as fried rice. Veg curry without the vegetables(2 pieces of cauliflower, chickpea and butternut squash). Bad choice and expensive place.

Firstly let me say this was a takeaway delivery to Lochore meadows where we were part of a motorhome meet. We asked if each order could be bagged separately, usually we find other restaurants say they will do this and don’t but this restaurant had each order bagged and labelled. The driver arrived dressed professionally and in the company logo van. Each one of us all agreed the food was delicious. In every way this restaurant clearly leads the way and really could teach others a thing or two. Well done Namaste Shimla Palace, we will definitely use you again when back in the area next year.

Christmas dinner here gets better and better. Amazing and friendly staff, great food at a great price. Have been to many an Indian/Nepalese restaurant but nowhere compares to the Shimla Palace. Always our go to place for great food.

Visited Shimla Palace tonight with my husband. We both had chicken tikka served on a sizzler, which was delicious, served with rice, curry sauce and garlic nan. We will definitely be back again soon.

Visited this restraunt with work collegues the buffet and drinks package is great value for money have been before and will return its a decent place to eat in cowdenbeath

Had an amazing experience came in about 8:30 and went for a buffet staff offered us a choice of different curry fresh nan bread and it was amazing best I have had. We will definitely be back.

Came here on a Thursday night with my work colleagues. Ample parking outside and looks small from outside but inside Aladdin’s cave. Very tentative staff and lots of options from the buffet. Prices very reasonable with offers on buffet and drinks. This was my first visit and will definitely be back. Worth driving the short distance from Kirkcaldy.

Group of 20 booked in and came here for a Lunch, Really nice food and cosy atmosphere loved south Indian and Haggis Pokora it was my first time and i will definitly be back.

Just had a lunch buffet and the food was delicious lots to choose from for £7.95 they even had soft ice cream wow. Restaurant is spotless definitely coming back.

We had lunch yesterday, everything was fresh tasty and hot. The staff were very polite & helpful. And the kitchen helped out with another lamb dish for my husband you does not eat chicken. We will be back.

Went today and the food was just out of this world amazing food and service nice and cosy atmosphere fantastic choice very very clean spotless. If you haven’t tried yet then you are missing something I would definitely recommend Shimla to anyone must visit

Went for a lunch buffet restaurant was busy, very welcoming staffs promptly got seated and took our drinks order and said buffet is ready when ever we are ready to eat from starter to main course there was lots of options mild to hot curry 2 option of bread and 3 different rice to choose from delicious food service was amazing definitely recommend to anyone

All the staff are fantastic very attentive, the food was amazing the only reason not a 5 star is the ice cream out of the machine was very gritty like ice Crystals instead of smooth and creamy

We visited on a Saturday afternoon it was easy getting a table for two we choose the meal and drink deal that's as much as you can eat and tokens for 5 drinks white wine which I was told was very good and I had a couple of lagers then red wine all for £24.95 each the wines were very good the starters were very good and a reasonable choice the mains which you can choose Chinese or Indian have a good range of different dishes the garlic chilli chicken and the chilli and garlic potatoes were the pick of the choice must a great meal for two for just under £50 you can't go wrong would highly recommend staff not over fussy but every time the glass was empty or plates needed clearing it was done without fuss think I've found my new best restaurant

I came to Shimla by recommendation of a friend for a meal and it’s was well worth it fresh food amazing atmosphere and service was good friendly staffs and the toilets are the best not seen this clean toilets yes a bit weird talking about toilets .. not much from outside but from inside it like a palace. Definitely recommend to anyone if you have not been here then you are missing something. See you soon Shimla.

Just loved the food here on my friend’s birth party ..Best Restaurant of Scotland so far I visited this week just wow best indian food i have ever had and they had a chinese tester yumm lots of choices and any 5 drinks and buffet for £20 nothing better then this recommend shimla place if you have not yet visit you are missing out this amazing place

I love Shimla Palace and have been coming here for years. Our last visit was last week and as usual it was a high standard.

Great time had by all (9) food was good, service excellent , great value for money, cannot find fault , will be back soon.

The food was very good at Namaste Shimla Palace. Out for a meal with the in laws. The staff were so polite, the food was very good and hot and the place was spotless. A very good meal in pleasant surroundings.

Have visited twice this month for lunch with my mum and my second visit with my father too.

Decided to have a meal here after the Cowdenbeath match today. Cowden won 3-1 against Annan. Anyway it is a buffet style Indian Restaurant, With a good choice of Starters/Mains and Sweets and you can have as much or as little as you like. They have a good range of dishes from Mild to Spicy and with various different meats as well. The chicken dishes were very tender tonight. I will certainly visit again and recommend this place to anyone in the Cowdenbeath area.

I hadn’t been to the Shimla in ages, but it never disappoints. The food is always lovely, hot, fresh and plentiful. We just had a family lunch which is still the best value buffet around. My hubby often goes at night for the set meal package which includes drinks. With free parking at the door, the loveliest staff and “Liberace’s Lavvies” this is well worth a trip to Cowdenbeath!

Fantastic refurbished restaurant staff are extremely friendly the buffet is most enjoyable and I really like there beer we normally take out and order the family meal this comes with naan and a choice of pakora two curry dishes and salad and dressing with spicy onions. Well worth the price and a real feast for a young family.

The executive menu in this restaurant is excellent value. Good choice of starters, main courses includinh Chicken Tikka and Tandoori as well as choice of dessert and tea/coffee. This meal is served to your table as opposed to the buffet when you have to serve yourself. We go regularly to this restaurant and have never been disappointed and the staff are both efficient and welcoming

Well to start with not a location you would see a Restaurant, narrow road going to the central park and a small building at the corner, not much from outside as soon as you go inside there is all bling bling amazing decor extremely good food and superfantastic service, cannot complain on anything i would recommend this Gem to everyone i know and all my relatives must visit if you haven't the you'r missing things....

Went for lunch and I went for the executive lunch option and meal was delicious- I had mixed Pandora and then Chicken Masaledar with the rice option. I could not manage a dessert but had a coffee to finish off - this only cost £9.95 (for three courses and coffee). My husband had chicken pakora and then Chicken Tikka with mushroom pilau rice and he said he really enjoyed it. There were also complimentary poppadoms with spicy onions and pakora sauce before our starters were presented. Enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely be back.

I've now been twice to this place, before attending the Cowdenbeath game, it's really convenient for me when travelling into the area to stop here, the Haggis Pakora is amazing, the Korma & some of the Lamb curries at the buffet, are all high quality, this place doesn't lack in variety or value, with the buffet and 5 drinks only costing me 22 pounds, polite service too, which makes this place somewhere I could be regular when in Cowdenbeath,

Shimla is consistently amazing. Not many places have haggis/black pudding pakora and it’s amaizng. Place is quiet due to it being January and they were very accommodating to make me food fresh that is normally out that they don’t noemally have. Constantly checking you are okay and If the food is good and they are lovely and engage with you! Been here many times and it’s never ever let us down. Take away or sitting in for a buffet it’s amazing!! ;)

3 of us went for a meal at this restaurant. We had been previously but it was some time ago. We ordered from the menu rather than go for the buffet. 2 of us ordered the Vegetable samosa and the other person ordered the a Chicken pakora. The pakora was delicious but unfortunately the samosa was served without the chickpea dressing as was previously prepared and was slightly hot. This is the reason why we habpve not given 5 and would have rewarded 4.5 but this is not provided in the scoring. The main courses were excellent- these were Chicken tikka with mushroom pilau, Jingha Prawn Tandoori and Vegetable Balti Butter Masala. We did not bother desserts as we had an adequate sufficiency. We will definitely be back soon.

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been to the Shimla - just the two of us, with the wider family, with a large group (18 people) - and it never disappoints. The selection is more limited if you’re there at lunchtime / afternoon as you’d expect but it’s still fresh, hot & tasty. When we went as part of a big group and they didn’t have garlic mushrooms on as a starter, the chef made them for us - can’t ask more than that! Tremendously good value, friendly staff, a must visit.

I always enjoy going for lunch here, which is superb value during the week. It's not the highest quality of fine Indian food but it doesn't claim to be. The chicken wings are particularly nice, and the other starters okay. Currys are good, the lamb curry is always made with tender meat free of fatty bits. Tea and coffee included in the price of the buffet.

Although we don't live locally we don't mind travelling here it's that good. The staff are friendly and efficient at taking your order and clearing the table. We always come for the lunchtime buffet and there's always plenty choice available. All sorts of pakora, chicken chaat and wings for starters and various curries including veggie options. Can't fault it, always fresh and tasty. We'll be back soon.

Best buffet in Fife is promised and delivered, good quality food and choice. The 5 drinks with the meal offer makes the experience even better. Most customers seem to take up the buffet deal, the A la carte menu is also very good and they will alter spice levels to suit your palate. Wine list selection is varied starring a bargain Roos Pinotage at £15.95. Eat here twice a month, never been disappointed over many years, a recent make over has the restaurant appearance lifted to a new level which is also enjoyable. On Sunday evenings a Magician rounds the tables, unusual entertainment and very welcome.

As always good quality Indian and Nepalese dishes , value for money, on a Sunday there is a magician for to entertain the kids and the inquisitive adults like myself

My Husband and I had date night here. Had heard a variety of reviews and I must say we had a excellent meal. We were offered a table for 2 or if we wished a larger booth. The service of drinks was fast and attentive all evening. The meal was fresh and hot, all the hot plates had a different dish. The staff removed your finished plate quickly. Massive tubs of ice cream and plenty variety of cakes. Parking was no problem as they have their own car park.

I have been here both for lunch and dinner and neither have disappointed.

Great food and great service! would highly recommend! Decent indian food with lots to choose from... Only downfall are the desserts.

Fantastic food at a great price, just can't be beaten, our family eat here at every opportunity, something to suit everyone from 3 year old up.

First time visit with friends who had been there before. A superb range of starters and a salad bar as well. When emptied or almost empty the bowls are quickly replenished. There is a vast range of main dishes, from mild to a good madras when we visited, so there is something for everyone including two different types of rice and chips. There is a good range of cold sweets & again no limit to what you take. There is also tea bags & instant coffee. Included in the buffet price is some drinks, both soft or alcoholic, and the limit on these is not too restrictive. The food is well presented, fresh and tasty; all in all a very enjoyable eating experience in very pleasant surroundings with a reasonable sized car park.

Me and my wife went for a random lunch on a Sunday and came across this place. The staff were friendly and efficient the food was very nice , excellent flavours far to easy to eat too much! Will be back

Had a takeaway on Saturday evening

Last night my sister and I organised a surprise party at Shimla for our parents. The staff were wonderful at helping us organise the day. We hired out the upstairs section which gave us a more private experience with tables all close together so we could talk to everyone. As usual the food was incredible couldn’t fault anything. The staff were very attentive and friendly as they always are and even gave our parents a gift for their anniversary! Would book this venue again and again for events. 5* service, prices & food! Thank you!

For a slow tuesdayevening the buffet was still very well. The restaurant had a great makeover 6 months ago and shines as never before. Its a bit offtrack but very close to the center a place worth to visit. Take the time to talk with the waiters snd you hear more on their Nepalese background.

Great value when ever you go I always do buffet and 5 drinks works out a cheap night buffet caters for all food types even children.

From the outside the restaurant doesn’t look up to much but once through the doors it opens up to a stunning masterpiece of beautifully ornate wonders for the eye to behold. The epic crystal chandeliers, 10ft high golden mirrors, stylish mosaic tiled walls etc(I could go on and on) gives the restaurant such an opulent and warming ambiance. AND THEN there’s the FOOD What a joy for the taste buds. The popadom pickle tray arrived with the best spicy onions I’ve ever tasted. We had the Onion bhaji and cauliflower pakora for starters which was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and crunch. Main course we enjoyed the rich spicy kick from the Bhuna accompanied with, we can honestly say, the most perfect peshwari nan bread. For desert an indulgent coconut ice cream in a coconut shell...the ideal ending to an amazing meal. This supremely enjoyable experience was made all the better the very attentive service from the waiting staff and the owner of the restaurant who all made us feel very welcome. We live in Inverness (2.5hrs away), therefore a regular visit to this restaurant is not practical, however we have already planned our next visit on the 10th of June after a weekend away in Glasgow. The drive home will have a well worth while little detour to Cowdenbeath for another fabulous experience and real good feed

First time at this restaurant and will be the last. Expected a lot more choice for the evening buffet. No fish dishes. Only 5 difference main courses. Half the buffet dishes were off and empty. So first and last visit.

Had a works night out here and we all had a hoot.inside is beautiful,staff very attentive.our party of seven went for the drink and buffet package at I think was £23 per head.superb great value ,buffet had plenty of variety to suit us all.Will definitely go back,five drinks of your choice and all you can eat.Superb.

A beautiful restaurant. The food is lovely with enough dishes to choose from and the service is excellent. It all comes at a great price and the toilets are fabulous too. Most places pay little attention to them but it speaks volumes. A great meal and a great night at the races.

Ordered from the shimla it took 1 1/2hrs for the order to arrive which inside the bag half off our Indian was in the bottom off bag, rice chips and nan bread was stain cold!!!!!! We phoned to complain which the person that was in charge that night was very rude and kept talking over the top me. I asked for a complete new fresh order which they did do and was delivered within 40mins overall it was just over 2hrs before we sat down to eat. The worst off it all they asked for the first delivery back which was half in the bin, we explained this to the delivery driver as it was cold and ruined but insisted we gave them it back! What they were wanting it back for we do not know just hope they don't use ruined food as customers would proberly never know. Just be aware when ordering a take away from here that they do take a while and make sure it's hot!!!
