After waiting 30 minutes for my food I got up to ask It it would be much longer. Then was told my order didn’t get put through to the kitchen. I don’t think they seemed very surprised or bothered about it. Ended up asking for a refund rather than having to wait any longer

What’s this foreign food they’re offering??? Bacon Bap? What’s a Bacon Bap? And, again, what’s this, No Chip Cob on the menu? Three of us went today, requesting a Chip Cob each, and it seemed that as it’s not on the electronic till, the order was shouted through…….half an hour later they arrived (having been forgotten?) Don’t take this post too seriously. It’s a nice cafe.

Today we had food at the takeaway counter.Strangely enough this is the second time we’ve been here around breakfast time . Both times we’ve decided to have a vegetarian sausage cob and coffee. Both times the actual sausages on the cobs have been stone cold. This time there was butter on the sausage that was still intact and not melted, due to it being cold!! I know I probably should have taken the cobs back and complained but I was just so annoyed it had happened again. Especially when I was charged £17.50 for 2 vegetarian sausage cobs and 2 coffees. Really expect better service at these prices. When you factor the car park charge in it was an expensive 1 hour dog walk. Won’t be in a rush to return. I must say though Sherwood pines itself is a beautiful area.

Post parkrun treat! We did parkrun then did another 5km. Lovely veggie breakfast. The ‘sausages’ were not what I was expecting but nonetheless they were tasty. Only downside is the expensive parking, we had just ticked over the 2-3 hours and was meant to pay £9!! Glad we had the parkrun discount code because our 2 hour trip with breakfast would have been almost £30.

The cafe appeared busy today as Sherwood Pines was busy with human leisure activities. However we found a table quickly (which had clearly been recently cleared and cleaned), and ordered hot drinks and food. The food came quite quickly and was well presented and tasty. I thought the jacket potato good value for money. We returned later in the afternoon for a further hot drink.

That usual word ‘Overwhelmed’springs to mind with a restaurant that is woefully inadequate to cope with crowds at this major tourist venue in Sherwood Forest. Staffing levels are ok but there are not enough tables. Food wise it’s ok, although whoever decided to add Caesar Chicken wraps need a re-check. Swimming in cheese is a fail. Chicken too is processed. The experience could be much better. Hopefully a completely re-fit and upgrade is on the agenda.

Kirsty who served me twice at the cafe today was fantastic! She served me for lunch and then late afternoon for a cup of tea. She had had an incredibly busy shift but at 4pm she was still professional, smiley and polite and couldn't do enough for me. She went the extra mile with a smile and was very flexible. I commend her working ethic and wish all hospitality staff were like her! She will go far in whatever she choses to do in the future. The sky is her limit! Thank you. You made my trip extra pleasant!

Cycled out to 'the Pines' on a Saturday. We'd previously drove out to cycle round the various routes, but my 14 year old wanted to 'ride out'. We had about an hour in the bike park and dirt jumps when we decided to get some lunch. We rode to the visitors centre and found a few people queueing at the take-away, we were stopped from joining the queue by a member of staff who said 'we're closed because of high winds' yes it was windy, but I'm pretty sure the building wasn't under threat of being blown away! By the way, it was about 12.30pm - I think the staff were just looking forward to 'an early bath'. We then had to coax a starving teenager to the Rumbles cafe at Vicar Water, which we managed, and had a lovely (and cheap) bacon cob.

Awful slow service at the takeaway services. One person serving and two queues of at least ten people. Took about ten mins to serve each person. Then when I saw served I was over charged for two extra coffees. The staff need more support or training as they didn’t seem to have any initiative to queue bust or just be more streamlined in making hot drinks

What a rip off this place is, 3 burgers, 1 sausage sandwich and 4 drinks….£30. Hot food had been stood for 10min as the beeper they give you to signal your food is ready didn’t work!! Soggy bread on the burgers as they had been sweating in the box for 10 min. I took it back and they said chef would make new ones but they dried them In the oven to crisp them back up!! Bread was all dry and toasted now! I appreciate it was a busy day but get more staff the food is expensive enough to cover costs! My parents also bought food, the bacon sandwich was abysmal. 2 scabby pieces of bacon. What a joke

There's a cafe not far from the campsites in the middle of the forest, not too far from the bike hire, toilets or the GoApe. Good walk for working up an appetite. Ate there a couple of times, got a cob and a bottle of juice which was a good price. It was delicious, I haven't had bacon or sausages that tasty in a long while. I regret not having a full English, you had an option as to what size you wanted it, and it was absolutely delicious judging by the reactions of my friends. They had cakes and bottles of juice a cup of tea and the pot did about 3 cups. You got a good deal for your money. They have a wonderful roofed decking area which we sat out on and it's such a lovely view across the forest. Place was really clean and they made every effort to distance the tables and put markers on the floor. Staff were friendly and helpful. Felt at home here, this was a fab way to begin the morning.

Nice cafe, clean and social distancing enforced. Test and trace QR codes are displayed before you enter, yet staff insist on taking contact info without actually explaining what it’s for/how long the info will be held/if it’s stored securely. Girl behind till was pretty rude and unhelpful, one word answers etc. Also watched her pick up a spoon by the spoon end and then hand it straight to a customer. Same tongs used to pick up the nutty cakes and the nut-free ones, so unable to eat any cake as I have a nut allergy. Bacon was cold. Not sure I’ll return to be honest, as nice as the surroundings are.

We are keen cyclists and regularly visit Sherwood pines. The forest and cycle routes are great but the only place to get refreshments at the end is one cafe which I would avoid if there were other options. The food is average to below average, soggy pizza worth giving a miss unless you’re desperate and the servers are so miserable it drives me mad! Most are young so should at least have the energy to smile. It is the same every time we go so after today’s visit I thought I would take the time to write a review in hope of something changing. It clearly wasn’t just a case of it being a bad day as it is the same every time we have been! Management please teach your staff some customer service! Having called at the cafe this morning (Sunday 4 Aug) for a coffee I was utterly disgusted and appalled as I glanced at the table next to us as the couple had their dog sat on a chair at the table with them and they were sharing their sausage roll with the dog which was also licking the table!!! One of the assistants from the cafe saw this and totally ignored them and walked back into the cafe.... I take it then that this behaviour is not a health issue to them... I left in total disgust.... whoever sat on that chair after the dog has no idea that an animal had sat there previously. This table was immediately adjacent to the cafe entrance and should not be confused with the general seating not controlled by the cafe itself. The new tables and chairs are now being comprised with folk thinking their dog is a human being and it is acceptable by the staff for dogs to be licking the tables where you and your children are going to eat later thinking the area is hygienic.....

After waiting 10 minutes for someone to stop chatting with their friends and take our order we sat down and then waited another 35 mins for a jacket potato and sandwich to be made. They brought out the sandwich but had forgotten about the potato so once I reminded them they brought out a cold and undercooked jacket potato. I never send food back normally but this was inedible. The waitress took it back but not before she huffed about the fact I was asking for a new meal. Very rude and then pretty much threw down my plate when she brought it back to me. We have been visiting this cafe since we took up mountain biking in August 2017. In that time there has been 3 price rises. At first it cost around £7.30 for 1 green tea, 1 decaf tea and 2 tray bakes. Then the cost rose around to £8.40. On our last visit the same items cost £9.30 - the tray bakes costing £3.25 each. We were not the only people astounded at this price increase. As we eat & drink outside we will be taking our own food in future. Another cafe we visit (with proper barista prepared coffee) only charge £1.65 for tray bakes which are of equal quality and size. Total rip-off.

The food served is fine, but no choice when asked about gluten free options. I'd also expect to see a nature driven organisation to provide drinks in recyclable or reusable cups, but just given the standard single use landfill type, with lid. The kids were the same, with their plastic bottle drinks and no means to dispose in a recycling bin, so took these home. Organisations like the Forestry Commission need to lead by example, particularly charging heavily on parking, which inevitably is helping fund the cost of disposal of so much potential landfill only waste.

I like this place. It’s in an absolute tourist hotspot with no competition so it defies logic that it would have to be any good at all, but do you know what, it’s OK. Nice staff. Really nice lovely friendly chatty staff, actually. Nice food, which I think is even properly cooked on the premises by people who care and wear clean chef whites and the whole lot. The soup of the day is often really tasty and authentic, simple things like baked potatoes are nicely presented with attention to detail, plentiful toppings and a bit of love and care. And there are usually one or two homemade dishes of the day like a chilli or similar. Nothing too fancy like, but nicely done, and worth the money. Nice cakes too. If you’re middle aged and you’ve spent the morning biking round the woods like a teenager, then you manage to catch a bit of spring sunshine on your face whilst you sit on the terrace having a brew and eating a whole white chocolate millionaires shortbread for your lunch with wreckless abandon whilst the birds sing overhead - well, then you’re probably living.

We visited the cafe whilst 'Gruffalo hunting' recently. There were 3 adults and 4 children. Our first contact with the cafe was buying our activity packs, (cash only for the packs was very inconvenient as no cash machines that we could find on site) the staff were very helpful, with one lady stopping what she was doing to explain the 2 different packs and then getting them for us, so the other staff could focus on food orders. When we returned for food we were surprised they didn't do the usual 'chicken nuggets and chips' for the kids. But this isn't a bad thing. What they did do ( breakfast options , paninis and jacket potatoes mainly) they did very well. We couldn't see much of a sandwich selection other than a few packets in the fridge but we asked behind the counter and they said they could do cheese sandwiches for the children. The sausage rolls were lovely! We expected it to be a lot more money as they are the only food option if you don't have a picnic. To feed the 7 of us came to around £36 (this included 2 huge breakfast paninis and a large jacket potato) The staff were clued up on allergens and extremely proactive. Whilst cueing to order food staff who weren't busy were asking if anyone wanted activity packs or hot drinks etc I ordered my daughter a hot chocolate and mentioned to my friend I might put it in her bottle to save spills etc and the lady behind the counter clarified it was for a child then offered to add cold milk to the mix out of the machine so that it was a 'child friendly' temperature straight away.Over all I would highly recommend.

The only reason I haven't given it a 5/5 is outside (where dog owners sit) it could just do with some fold down sides and or some kind of patio heat. Spent many Sunday mornings freezing in the cold wind whilst trying to eat breakfast. Just a suggestion but other then that it's great!

We were staying nearby at Sherwood lodges so went here for breakfast as it was more reasonably priced. We really enjoyed our breakfast here. The choice was vast and the portions big. We would return!

It may have been the pleasure of a coiffed and breakfast after completing a park run, but this was a great treat. Quality food, breakfast muffins with coffee, you could tell it was really good meat. Also friendly staff, even with the chaos of runners everywhere.

Visited Sunday morning, and to be honest it was very very busy which wasn't a problem. When busy I would expect to wait and understand that. The card machine disconnected on the first 3attempts, so cash would be the best method. Ordered a ham and cheese panini... came out very quick, on a quick glance the cheese hadn't even melted! Sent back for it to be returned very soggy and sloppy. The ham on it looked very dark and a funny taste and I am pretty sure it was off. Also someone with me ordered a cappuccino and basically got a milky rubbish weak coffee.... I personally would have sent it back but they didn't want to make a fuss!

I enjoyed a warming coffee and scrumptious cake after my first but definitely not my last trip to Sherwood Pines Cafe. The coffee was far better than that of any high street chain and the cake was simply to die for. Highly recommended to anyone in the local area !!!

I'm sorry to say after many years of visiting Sherwood Pines and the café, I was most unimpressed today. As usual the café was very busy. We ordered 4 x sausage cobs and although they came fast and were hot they consisted of two whole sausages chucked on a bread bap. No butter. The sausages were not even cut! I had to cut all of them with a butter knife (which was messy and difficult) so that they were not too hot or tricky for my kids to eat! What with the parking charge going up so much, it will be a long time before we go back.

I've been a good few times now after cycling. Last time out I took the kids in after I finally got them round the cycle track. The cafe is reasonably priced and does have a reasonable range. Staff are friendly and the cream teas are amazing

When you decide last minute to visit the real outdoors you want a place that also offers a warm place to eat too. What a great cafe/restaurant. We all received a warm welcome by a lady called Maxine when we entered. Then we was served by the manageress Lauren and her team. The menu is suited for anyone and also having a great selection of items on offer. I must say the food was outstanding, had to give our compliments to the chef/s. The coffee was brill too. I highly recommend you visit this place when you are in the area. A little tip; go early as the place gets so busy but is managed very professionally.

Staying in the area for a week and always like to try the local village pub. This one has to be one of the best, especially for food. Had lunch on Saturday absolutely amazing pork belly tapas with fries plus mac n cheese and went back the same evening for specialty burger plus a grilled garlic chicken all things worthy of a 10 out of 10 some of the best food ever tasted. Add to that very reasonable prices lovely staff friendly locals and impeccably clean toilets. Wish this pub was in our home town

Booked a Saturday night slot, car park very busy, managed the last space! Pleasant lounge bar area before the meal. Bar food served as well, looked decent fayre. Our table in the restaurant was ready on time and a bonus, we were in the “parlour,” best area if you like quiet. Quick service, excellent new Autumn menu, cod croquettes great starter, the salmon fillet excellent, partner enjoyed the chicken breast. Overall pleasant experience, will be returning soon. Booking essential at weekends.

Stayed here overnight after going to the nearby Race course Really nice place with its history and clocks! Friendly staff and a very efficient waitress at breakfast. Bed wasn’t the most comfortable but only stayed for one night, otherwise would have requested another room. To be fair we were given that option upon our arrival. One other downside was that the neighbouring room complained about the noise of our TV, which wasn’t actually that loud. The adjoining walls are clearly paper thin. All in all we would use the place again if needed.

A first class meal, without blaring music, you could really relax and enjoy the conversation . We both chose the steak and it was as good as any I have ever eaten.
