Visited today with a friend . She had got the sparking afternoon tea voucher as a 60th birthday gift. We were quickly seated by a fairly friendly lady. Tea arrived (from a selection of about 8/9) and was very nice . Room was clean and crockery lovely. Lady asked did ask if any allergies . As we walked in I noticed that every table had left a lot of food which was unusual for me? Anyway when ours arrived I immediately could see why. We weren’t talked through it or told what the cakes were (some we still don’t know), no menu either. When a hotel charging £31 per person you at least bake your own scones or buy the ones that aren’t 4 for £1.50 in Aldi/iceland. Little Victoria sponges were as hard as rocks. Shop bought Scones made worse by being served with buttercream rather than clotted cream?! I took a bite out of curtesy but it was shocking. I LOVE afternoon tea and would never ever not take left overs (if there was any) home but we left 3 and a half scones out of 4 & over 70% of the other cakes. Shocking. Lady didn’t ask how it was so we just left. We noted a table of 3 left most of theirs too - I heard them complain but the lady just kind of shrugged I don’t think there was much she could do? Would defiantly never go back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. We had afternoon tea at rookery 3 weeks ago and that was a million miles better . To the hotel- please listen to these reviews. This was a special birthday and we felt dreadful that someone had spent £60 on shocking food

Whilst staying at the hotel we booked in for afternoon tea yesterday. Lovely welcome and seated quickly. Full explanation of the different teas available. Upgraded and had a bottle of Prosecco (a little expensive but worth it). Didn’t have to wait too long for our teas and food. All sandwiches and cakes explained when they arrived. All lovely and fresh and plenty to go round. Staff friendly and attentive and very accommodating. Will definitely return when we stay at Crewe Hall again.

great selection of sarnies and fancies - lovely selection of teas (or coffee) and good value for money - esp if you get yourself a groupon deal - well worth it

I've been going to Crewe Hall for afternoon tea with the girls for at least ten years on a fairly regular basis and it has always been an exceptional experience. So much so that three years ago I actually went for afternoon tea after my wedding. However, we went yesterday and were told that it is now under new management and they no longer offer the welcome drink of Sherry or orange juice. It took about half an hour for them to tell us about the choice of teas and then another half an hour to actually bring the teas out. So, we'd been there an hour and there was no sign of any sandwiches. Table was booked for 1:30 and at 2:50 I asked to see the manager to ask where our sandwiches were! They finally arrived at 3:00, one and a half hours late. Sandwiches were good but cakes were not of usual standard. All six of us were very disappointed and frankly quite shocked. The ladies at the next table were having the same problem. To be fair to the manager he did knock a substantial amount from the bill but it didn't stop the afternoon being spoiled. Doubtful we will go back now.

On Thursday August 18th I went for afternoon tea with the Holmes Chapel Jodrell Ladies Probus. I was most disappointed with both the service and the food. There was only one person to serve us so we were given a cup of tea at 2pm but no food until 2 45 pm. The sandwiches and cakes were certainly not worth the £23 we paid. On previous visits I have always been pleased but this was certainly not the case on this occasion.

We recently went to Crewe hall for afternoon tea to treat my husbands nan for her 80th birthday. I booked in advance and ensured we were in the Sheridan lounge as on a previous visit we were elsewhere. They confirmed we would be and as part of a promotion we also enjoyed a glass of prosecco with no extra charge, this made it feel even more of a celebration. The staff from the moment we arrived were lovely, explained everything in detail and were very attentive and friendly. We all thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea in lovely surroundings, we didn't manage all the cakes but they let us take them home with us. As my husband was settling the bill the waiter asked if we'd like to have a look around the hall and provided us with a map and little booklet detailing the history of the place, which we took him up on, another surprise touch which made our nans day. All in all I couldn't fault it, we had a lovely time celebrating a special birthday in a place worthy of the occasion. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending for a special occasion or even just a special treat!

I was given a voucher for Q Hotels by some friends as a birthday treat and booked Afternoon Tea for me and my husband. I was born in Crewe and I am proud of my home town and a visit to Crewe Hall was a real treat. On arrival we were shown into the beautiful Sheridan Lounge with it's ornate wooden carving (what a let down that the furniture looked like it had come out of the 1960's). The waiter described which teas were available. The crockery was set out on the table but it wasn't the quaint china I thought it would be. We chose which tea we would like and were brought a selection of finger sandwiches, two scones with cream and jam and a selection of cakes. We both felt that the cakes were on the bland side. I am sad to say as a local that I am disappointed at Crewe Hall. I was expecting a high standard but unfortunately I was let down. This Afternoon Tea certainly wasn't worth the price we paid (even with the voucher). If you want something classy, go to Rookery Hall in Nantwich to see how Afternoon Tea should be served!

We went to visit this hotel on Tuesday, 13th of May, for afternoon tea. We expected quality service but what we received was beyond expectation. The quality of food, the choice of tea, the preparation that went into everything, even the music was superb! We were so satisfied and relaxed that we ended up staying there for hours, we were made to feel that welcome. Our waiter was called Julio from NZ, great guy, funny as anything and extremely knowledgeable of the site and its rich history. I would recommend a stay at the hotel for anyone. The staff are friendly, the place is historically significant and breathtaking. There is something for every interest to do at all times, and especially for lovers of history, art and architecture. A must-experience hotel.

I treated my sister to afternoon tea on the Sunday to round off a lovely 2 night spa break at Crewe Hall. The setting in the Sheridan Lounge is beautiful and the service from the staff was very welcoming, polite and helpful. When we first sat down we were shown the choice of teas, i chose assam and my sister darjeeling, and the waiter checked if we had any allergies etc. I also asked if we could each have a glass of champagne to accompany our tea. The bottle of champagne was opened there and then, so was nice and fresh and fizzy. After 5 mins the waiter returned with our cake stand, which had 4 different finger sandwiches on the bottom tier (the usual salmon, ham and mustard, cream cheese, and coronation chicken), the middle tier had two scones each (one plain and one fruit) together with clotted cream and a home made compote, which was nice. The top tier had a selection of miniture cakes; lemon tart, macaroon, frangipan and white chocolate cake slice each. The waiter also brought the teas, which came in glass teapots, and he explained how to use the teapot to swirl round the tea leaves and lift them to stop the brewing process, and to explain the timers. We spent around 2 hours relaxing and enjoying the food, drink and surroundings. The waiter was more than happy to keep getting us fresh teas, and in fact i ended up having 3 pots of tea, 2 normal teas to go with the food, and a peppermint tea afterwards to help digest everything i had eaten! The waiter was also happy to take the remaing cakes and scone and put these in a cake box for us to take home, in fact he even asked if we wanted them in two separate boxes. The food was very good, but not exceptional (the sandwiches could be slightly more inspired); however the combination of the setting, the service, the food, and the price (£20.50 per head excl champagne) made this the best afternoon tea we have had so far. I would visit for afternoon tea again if i was in that part of the country and I would recommend this to anyone staying at the hotel.

Very disappointed in the quality of the food at our afternoon tea, bread was stale, the vegetarian option was limited and the cakes were tasteless. On a positive note scones were lovely and the service was good. Overall I would recommend looking at alternative locations for afternoon tea or perhaps the brasserie instead if you want to eat at Crewe Hall.
