Turned up about 7pm on a Saturday night in October with two friends, just looking for a quick pint before dinner somewhere else down the road. Tons of free tables but turned away because 'we're only letting groups with girls in' Unbelievable and during COVID restrictions turned away for no reason. Contacted the facebook page to complain the next day and they responded hurling insults and I was accused of making it up. Called 'a very sad person to make that up' You try and support local hospitality businesses while they are struggling and they turn you away. Wouldn't go back if you paid me!

I was invited by a friend to celebrate his Birthday at Shelly's yesterday.I have a disability that means I cannot stand or walk (MS).I attended Shelly's in a very small and maneuverable disabled scooter.There were no disabled toilet facilities and despite my best efforts, I could not access the normal toilets in my scooter.I had no option to relieve myself down the side alley!I spoke briefly with Shelly the owner about the issue.She said she was quite busy, and would come back to me about the subject 'a bit later'.I left at around midnight, she didn't come back to me.

I had my daughters 40th birthday get together in the outside area at Shelley"s last week. Because of the covid situation I was very lucky to find this place. Although I could only have a small gathering of 18 people sitting on 3 seperate tables it worked out just fine!! Shelley was very helpful throughout and I found her obliging and approachable but at the same time sticking to the the government guidelines. Shelley has done a good job referbishing the bar and out door space which looks lovely. Everyone had a great time, I would definately go back again. Thanks Shelley and team! From Pam.

I’ve been to Shelly’s a few times in the last few weeks, and despite the challenges all bars face with the social distancing rules it’s always a great night.Great atmosphere, great music, good mixture of both regulars and new faces enjoying themselves.Outside terrace is great for warmer nights and when the weather is not so good, there is ample seating inside the place, all spaced out in line with social distancing rules.Everyone there is working really hard and it’s great to see many repeat visitors.

Lovely bar. Nicely decorated with a nice seating area. Convinced my friend to come here, she did not want to as she had been before and advised the rudeness was second to none! Arrived with a friend. Didn’t have a selection of wine available. Very basic. Blonde lady seemed rude to anyone who arrived. No smiles or nice greeting asking anyone how they are. Just a sour face with a ‘what ye want to drink’ a shame as I’m local. But due to the unfriendliness, won’t return. The place was busy towards the end of the night. Some people were sensible with the social distancing, but others were not. Everyone jamming into a toilet that has 2-3 toilets. Shame as the venue is nice, but the host is unpleasant with no people skills.

Very very rude lady! I have never in my life been spoken to like that lady has spoken to me!!! I got a drink at the bar sat at a table with 3 other people and I will never be coming back! Drugs all over the toilet absolute disgusting! That bar should not be open at all! I hardly advise not to come back! 100% needs to be shut down! Doesn’t even need a star rating so poor

Visit here frequently with my husband and the vibe is very good. Drinks reasonable priced and can never not had a superb night here!

My friend and I called into Shellys one night with the view to book the £40 singer / meal night we ordered 2 cocktails at the bar, and were told they were out of some of the ingredients that made up those drinks and to pick something else, while we relooked at the cocktail menu of which there were about 8 to choose from, some diners had come out of the restaurant to order drinks at the bar as there was nobody waiting their table, they had a list of cocktails they wanted and were told,"we havnt got that, and we havnt got that so they chose something else, and were reminded in no uncertain terms that theyd already been told they didnt have that..I was shocked at the way they were spoken to, and after all if you only have a few cocktails to choose from, its friday night and you dont have half the ingredients, then Sainsburys is round the corner, GET THEM IN!!. and £25 for 2...shocking, we decided to take our drinks to the seating area at the front of the club, and were told you cant sit there unless you are eating, even though after going back to the bar stools again, all that other seating remained empty for the next hour before we decided we just didnt like it there at all.we didnt like the attitude of the woman serving or the fact that we watched the guy collecting glasses wash them up in the hand washing sink.we were only glad we hadnt booked the night there and were relieved to move on to somewhere more friendly and accommodating, I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. they are totally unprofessional, unorganised. rude, and expensive, dont waste your money here.

Phone Shelleys as didn't fancy cooking , Shelley was very accommodating and asked what time we would arrive . Our table was ready and our food served hot and fresh within five minutes . Shelley was friendly and engaging and the fod was good value for money only £10 each . Service was good and love the decor we will be back . We found Shelley to be friendly and accommodating lovely lady .

We were only allowed to order from the set menu at £40 per person. We could have got a comparable meal in a Wetherspoon pub for a fraction of the cost. It was mediocre to say the least as was the entertainment. To add insult to injury a service charge was added. On a positive note the staff were friendly but unless the quality, choice and standard of cooking improves this restaurant seems destined for failure. We won't be going back.

Cant believe I'm seeing people give 4 and 5 star reviews for this place.The food was not worth £40 for the three courses. The wings were dry, ribs were obviously pulled straight off the tesco/asda shelf and the cheesecake turned up warm; more than likely rushed to defrost in the microwave.The desserts clearly weren't ready as we were offered a round of shots instead.The lack of table service resulted in some of us walking out to the bar by the entrance to get everyone in our group a drink.When we eventually went up to pay, we noticed a service charge was added. We stated we wasnt happy paying it as the service was non existent. This was followed up by one of the workers (shelly, I assume) giving a sarcastic and uncooperative response.We went for a drink in the sutton's after and about an hour in I started feeling nauseous. I ended up rushing to the toilet and was violently sick, bringing up what I had eaten an hour prior.We paid well over the odds on the whole and definitely wont be coming back. Rude staff to match (some but not all).Music was alright though.

I came here for my birthday with 10 of my friends on a Friday night, from the get go there was no organisation. Despite having to pre order all food for 11 of us we still had to ask for things, service was terrible so slow. We spent the whole night having to go to the bar to get our own drinks due to no one asking us if we would like drinks. Food was dry and bland. Owner has an attitude problem, while we was there she insisted on making sarcastic comments as we asked her to take off the service charge due to the poor service we received, she responded with if I had known that I would of made you bring your own cake (which we did anyway) but I think she was referring to making us bring the cake out and lighting the candles... because apparently £40 service charge is fair for walking a cake out the kitchen.

Went for a Birthday meal, £40 per head some of the worst food I have ever had! chicken wings just fried and extremely dry, ordered steak rare but it come out extremely dry guessing where it had been sitting on the counter for so long and desert was nothing specialNo ciders on tap that night.Also the lady who was in charge for the night was incredibly rude, I don't think she is cut out for this kind of work.Go spend £40 anywhere else for food, it won't be hard to beat Entertainment was alright.

We tried this restaurant for a Sunday lunch - a bit disappointed at the time waiting for food, which wasn’t very hot, despite only two tables in use. We found the waitress was not very interested in ensuring the table had everything we needed. It didn’t feel the right atmosphere for a Sunday lunch.

Went Sunday just gone without booking , was looked after by Shelly had the best roast I’ve had in years, very reasonable and great service , place is beautiful will defo be a regular, getting very popular and I can see why 👍🏻

No event on but organised a meal and drinks at the venue There was 20+ of us so had the back to ourselves Lovely food We then moved to the bar to end the night Really good night

Had a lovely Sunday Roast yesterday , nice relaxed atmosphere and great service. With prior notice they were able to accommodate the dietary needs of my granddaughter who is gluten intolerant. Many thanks to Shelly and her staff.

went for my birthday, group of 9. no fillet steak to offer, certain other mains not available. dessert not available. only Shelley left to work on the restaurant floor. Scampi was awful, like a fish paste. she went and got the frozen packet out of the bin! My Spaghetti Bolognese was cold but was too embarrassed to say anything after about 5/9 people complaining. Took a couple meals of off the bill but didn't take deposit off until reminded!! A lot of money for what it was!

We went on Sunday for the roast. It was a great price and delicious. Also quite a generous portion. Would recommend for the roast.

We went there as a family of 3 for the first time today and were pleasantly surprised. From the decor we'd always viewed it as an evening venue and perhaps not great for kids, but actually the children's menu had a good selection for little fussy eaters ;-)

Had a lovely time at Shelly's with my mum and our lovely neighbour yesterday evening. We had originally booked to see the drag show - this was unfortunately cancelled (act dropped out) so entertainment was instead provided by Tony Vegas singing Elvis, David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, etc. A good range of classic tracks were performed, we enjoyed it.

Spent Saturday evening here with some good friends. Food very good atmosphere good Entertainer good selection of drinks cocktails. Very well priced.

I went with work friends for the evening, the staff were very nice and attentive, unfortunately i was very disappointed in the food, i had broccoli soup which was salty, then the lasagna which had hardly any meat and also tasteless, so i didn't bother with the dessert

Had a very nice 3 course Sunday roast. Plates were full, and the side of cauliflower cheese was very generous for the price. I struggled to finish, but still managed a lovely cheesecake after! Service and food was great. Just a shame that wasn't a little busier but couldn't fault anything else. Am looking forward to trying out the bottomless prosecco lunch!

Visited a few weeks ago on a Saturday night with friends.We had the set meal which included the entertainment, 'Mr Soul' which we were all looking forward to. We were warmly greeted by Shelley on arrival tho she warned us that she didnt have all the ingredients for all the cocktails as the night before was rammed and she had run out of some ingredients. Then the bartender didnt turn up so Shelley and a young girl tended bar. Our food was lovely, also served by Shelley.There were only two other couples in there all evening plus a couple of people at the bar. Some people walked in, then seeing how empty it was, walked straight back out. The entertainer then apparently called in sick! a replacement singer eventually arrived, but she couldnt work the music deck and when she finally figured it out, only sung a few songs then went and sat outside for a cigarette break. I do not believe this place is ever "rammed". There were only 2 staff, 1 chef and no real entertainer, and that was a saturday night. The main part of the restaurant didnt even have lights on. This place has the potential to be a really good place to eat, drink, dance, but seriously needs better management.

Book for the prosecco lunch lovely decor staff very friendly and shelly the manager couldn't do enough for us!! Food was delicious would definitely recommend and will be back soon!!

We were long time fans of the Village until its untimely demise a while ago. When it reopened as Shelley’s we decided to give it a go last Thursday.

Booked a table for 9 they were very busy but got a drink from the bar and was kept informed when our table would be ready. Food very nice, Shelly and her staff are friendly and engaging they work very hard, would definitely go back. Julie

Went to Shelly's for the Freddie Mercury tribute night - fun evening with great atmosphere. Staff were helpful and friendly, and food was ok. We really enjoyed our evening there.

No staff, no tribute act until late and then could not work equipment , continuous excuses,

Had a great night out with friends here with an Elvis impression as the entertainment. He did 2 acts, the first as Elvis and the second general entertainment. He had a good voice, interacted with the crowd and got people up dancing. The music in between sets was good dancing music as well. There is a programme of entertainment for the rest of the year that looks fun, so hoping to go back for a couple of those.

Four of us went there on a girly night out. First impressions... just us there and a hen party! The food was good and the waitress was very friendly and attentive as were the waiters. Would have preferred a sauce with the steak tho but the steak was tender and lovely chunky chips! The cheesecake was good too! The Elvis tribute act came on...what a great singer well done to him as he got people up to dance and was very entertaining. Well done! The 2 for 1 cocktails were a hit also. Shelleys - this place has so much potential if only you could attract more people in especially on a Saturday night! At one point we thought it was a 'private' hen party. But all things considered the staff couldnt do enough for us! The food and tribute act was great and the reason I didnt give 5 stars was the lack of a decent crowd but hopefully through media sources this would get better. Would definately consider returning.

Four of us had lunch and we were all pleased with the food and bowled over by the service - Shelly worked like a Trojan, mainly on her own!

What a fantastic afternoon I have had @ Shelley's. Came in for a bit of lunch with my mum and can jot fault the place. The food was really tasty, and value for money. The venue itself was really warm and inviting like the owner Shelly. Shelly can not do enough for you very down to earth and her personality infectious. Would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back of evening. Great Music too

I was down on a visit from North Yorkshire to my daughter who very kindly treated me to lunch at Shelly's. We started our afternoon off with two fabulous cocktails.

Now that there is outside seating we went for Sunday Roast over the Easter Bank Holiday and enjoyed eating in the sun.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Staff amazing and a lovely venue. Highly recommend it. Lovely terrace to enjoy the sun.

Sunday roast was nice, came out very hot, good portion size and the honey roasted parsnips were lovely.

Ran out of one of the starters, ran out of rosé wine (and this was at 8pm!), dirty toilets and rude staff. We stayed half hour then walked out. Safe to stay we will not be returning!

Where do I start!!!!! It weren’t busy and we arrived on time got told our table wasn’t ready so we got a drink at the bar, bottle of prosecco which was Tesco prosecco which you can buy for £7 they charged £22! Sat down at our table ordered from the set menu, got told the menu was misprinted and it weren’t actually beer battered halloumi it was grilled ok fine. Whilst waiting for our starters we go to the bar order 2 more bottles of rose to them be told they’ve run out of wine! So we get a full bottle and 3 quarters of a bottle. Then she comes over and says the tempura prawns on the menu have gone missing so we need to order something else. We do that and in that time waiting went to the toilet which were disgusting so by this time we was still waiting for our starters and had decided we’d had enough called for the manager who was really rude didn’t even apologise just kept making excuses and trying to pass the blame!!! Oh and then she has the cheek to say leave as someone wants our table when there was about 10 empty tables!! For £40 set menu we expect to have what’s on the full menu and expect to have wine it was a Friday night how can you run out of wine?! Well we know now we won’t be returning and I hope the managers attitude changes soon otherwise everyone will feel the same way!

For years I've missed the enjoyment of eating out with the family and actually enjoying it, not a problem anymore, thanks to Shellys restaurant and bar. Friendly staff, the food was delicious and the drinks menu had it all (Rum Runner cocktail is wicked). The whole family had a great time (especially Mum) and we will be keeping a close eye on the website to choose the entertainment for our next gathering. Thank you 'Shellys' for bringing the enjoyment back to going out.

Went for Mother's day early dinner, waited over 2 hours for a roast dinner that was cold and missing items that was listed on the menu (no-one advised of). I get that they are a new restaurant and mothers day would have been a busy day but a bit of customer service goes a long way to keeping visitors happy and recommending them to friends and family!

I visited Shelly’s the other week and was very very disappointed. They offered two veggie options which I couldn’t have as I’m wheat intolerant & do not like nut roast (in fact I don’t think I’ve ever met a vegetarian that does like a nut roast). I spoke to the manager a few weeks prior when booking a table to ask if I could have something different from the menu that wasn’t on the Sunday set menu as my family wanted to try as they really liked the restaurant that was there before. The manager said that was perfectly fine.

I went to Shelly’s with my daughter on Saturday night, decor was nice, wasn’t very busy but had a nice atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, it was a set menu, we both had the tempura prawns, chicken skewers, both well cooked and tasty, finished with cheesecake and crumble, both were nice. There were a couple of lady’s singing Motown song throughout our meal who we thought were good and created a party atmosphere, only negative was everyone seemed to leave earlyish about 11, Shelly came and spoke to us before we left and said normally it is much busier, overall we had a nice night, would definitely recommend, we will be back soon!

Visiting from wales and my sister suggested trying here on a Sunday afternoon which was great nothing was to much trouble extra gravy no problems the food came quickly and three of us had the roast which was amazing, lovely spacious restaurant you don’t feel crammed in like some places would definitely visit again.

A mate and I had been for a couple of drinks and were on the way for a curry when we came across this recently opened restaurant. They were advertising that Thursday was "steak night", an 8oz sirloin with chunky chips, tomato & mushroom for £14.95 so we decided to give it a try. Very pleased with our meals, cooked exactly as requested and drinks were reasonably priced. Service was very pleasant and the atmosphere was too. The refurbishments are good but might still need a few finishing touches, I think this might still be in progress. (Can't give it five stars yet as I've only experienced one aspect of the menu.)

We went to Shelleys as the makeover has transformed the place and it looks amazing! The staff and owner seemed really nice and welcoming.

This was the second time we have visited Shelleys, great food, great staff that were friendly & the owner herself was very friendly & was talking to her customers with is lovely to see.

A great addition to Hornchurch, nice to be able to go for dinner and listen/watch entertainment. We had the 3 course set menu and listened to Mr. Soul-man, great food, great singer and great friendly staff.

Went here with a group of friends excited to go to a bar and grill in Hornchurch at last.

We booked a table of 13 for mine and my daughters birthdays , on arriving waited ages to be asked if we wanted a drink , the restaurant was very cold , we asked if aircon was on and waitress said that the radiators were on . A family arrived after us , left their coats on and after about an hour of waiting to be served they left , we were told a member of staff hadn’t turned up so they were short staffed . We finally got our meal after about an hour only to find that two meat roast had only chicken and pork as beef and gammon had run out , ( chicken wasn’t even an option ) the two children’s meals were on the same plate .
