I came here for my 25th birthday with my partner. I’d read reviews online to see if the place would be good (it blew every expectation out of the water.) I disagree with any review that says the service is bad: the service was perfect - we never had a moment where we felt unattended, all the staff looked after us and made sure we knew what was going on and how long the kitchen may take. After our starters were finished we were asked if everything was good and if we were done; one person took out plates and another gentleman gave us new cutlery and plates. The food was exceptional! We enjoyed every single bite of what was given to us and couldn’t even finish it all between the two of us. They kindly packed our leftovers for us which we enjoyed the next day (which were just as delicious.) I would highly recommend dining here: you will be well looked after, the staff are exceptional and the service is perfect. They also offer the perfect drinks to compliment any meal and will offer recommendations if you are unsure.

Been with a colleague whilst in Leeds.... I live in Bradford and not short of Indian restaurants... The warm welcoming... The explaination of dishes as I am a picky eater and service, was prompt and truly pleasant... Food was amazing and made to my liking.... tasty garlic and coriander naans I had the fish and the chicken but not spicy, to suit my taste my friend had the fish with spinach and he took some to the wife to try as he loved his dishes too.... And.... a very reasonable price for Leeds..... will consider going the extra mile to repeat the 5 star experience at Shish Mahal Thanks to all.. chefs and dining staff and owners to have put together this combination of tastes. Well done you!!!

Went to Sheesh for Christmas day meal with family. Brilliant food served by friendly attentive staff. Good choice of drinks.

I like my food spicy and my group likes medium spice, we expressed this and still got mild food. Very average, staff were nice though.

What a truly amazing experience. The food is absolutely phenomenal and the service to par. My first visit however my husband has been visiting with his parents since he was a child. I honestly cannot wait to return. Thank you Asram you really are the perfect host.

Only the second time I've been but really enjoyed it. Both times were spot on. Love it.

Avoid, the food is pretty subpar, the service is fine, restuarant is nice but yeah, Chicken Tikka Massala was watery and not spicy enough, garlic naan was ok, Chicken and Mushroom Biryani tasted weird and overloaded with peas. If you want a decent curry go to the cats pyjamas in Headingly.

A fantastic meal and brilliant service. Azram is such a welcoming host, he makes you feel like a returning friend and so relaxed, just the way it should be! The food is just superb, between us we had fish pakora starter... chicken dopiaza, chicken biryani and lamb nihari...so much flavour and cooked perfectly. All the staff were polite, friendly and we never felt rushed. All in all a fabulous meal and experience, we will definitely be back...sooner than the 35 years it took for our first visit!!

We were on a trip to Arcade Clubs Leeds and at the last minute we decided to have an Indian. After looking around we found Sheesh Mahal looked OK, so we called them and they found space for 8 of us on a Saturday night. Once we arrived the service and staff were fantastic. The food was great and the price was very reasonable!!!! I only wish we had an Indian restaurant as good as this near us. Would 100% recommend!!!!!

Iv not been here for 20 years but now it will be my no1 curry house. Absolutely amazing service. Popadoms was on my table before I taken my coat off! The food was amazing, chicken tikka saag was so tender and the garlic nann was exceptional. A added bonus is they sell kirkstall ales on draft

I've been visiting here for years and can't recommend it enough. Great food and very friendly staff. We always been able to get a table even when they are particularly busy on Fridays and Saturdays at 9pm.

Ordered a delivery but apparently they are not doing deliveries. They took nearly £50 and I got nothing. In my view that's theft.

I was really impressed. The food was delicious and the staff very attentive. The waiter knew the menu really well and we were asked about any allergies and how spicy we enjoyed our food. They tailored the dishes to our preference and checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking. We had a really lovely evening meal here and I will definitely go back and recommend to others. The Butter Chicken was my favourite.

I've loved this curry house since i was a kid and it doesn't ever drop its standards. They've added Kirkstall Virtuous to the drinks range since my last visit and its a great pairing with the food.

Food and service was superb. The lamb on the bone dishes and the bread selection was fantastic. The staff have superb knowledge of the menu. Highly recommend this place.

Slow service. My keema and plain white rice was not hot. Had oil or gee running init. Sent it back came back hot. Nobody bordered to ask us how the food was? Very lound place had to shout not much leg room. Small place expensive food. Toilet was one toilet for men pee or water on the floor. Waiter asked few times for Ice creams, tea's or drinks. Other lady asking if we wanted ice cream? Most said no she still left menus. Should not be pushing us to buy food etc. Took ages to bring the bill.

I enjoyed my butter chicken and peshwari naan. The chicken pakoras were dry and the chips were severely undercooked. The staff are lovely and attentive.

Used to come here quite regular but hadn't been in over a year, went tonight with the wife and the food and service is still absolutely five star. From the moment we walked in we were promptly shown to a table, within 60 seconds we were given menus and poppadoms and was given great suggestions on the food choices. Food was absolutely amazing as always and portion size still more than enough to enjoy and still have some left to take home. Worth driving to Leeds for and will be returning again soon.

Food is very tasty, the best curry I have had for a while. The decor could do with updating but this would not put me off going again. Some confusion over drink orders, they need to improve on that.

Just had delivery got to say couldn't eat starters way too hot had to throw them away got a keema balti for main full of gristle sorry guys was an absolute waste of money 😣

Very disappointed, both starters were nice as always, but both our mains were shocking. Both mains were like a stew & smelt like one! Mine was supose to be garlic chilli chicken but didn't have garlic & was very bland/mushy & waterer. Partners main was just the same!! When we've eaten in in the past it has been really nice & carnt wait to eat in again.

Husband bought masalla chicken for me.had to take back to shop because it was full of salt.owner was abrupt.made my husband feel like he thought he was lying.replaced massalla which was worst than first one.meal cost £35.vindallo was nice ,masalla both inedible.very dissapointed

This was a beautiful place, first time dining here. The food was amazing, big portions; I shared 1 dish between 2 of us and I was so full. The service wasn't good unfortunately, after ordering first round of drinks a 2nd round got ordered and starters came out and the table hadn't been cleared causing there to be no space for starters. Some drinks weren't bought out at all. Atmosphere was great, a lot of happy faces during and after eating.

absolutley delicious heard loads of reviews from friends and family all good so tryed ourselves and was not dissapointed starters (onion bhaji's) were nice and crispy and the main chicken dahi was very flavourful and the corriander in it made it even tastier. we recommend this place to anyone and everyone wrll done guys keep the good food coming

Take cash for tips. The food and service is amazing, it was very busy so book ahead. The staff won't get tips paid by card so take cash for tips.

Very rude staff! Actually shocked how rude they all were. From the beginning when the waiter took our order he told us to hurry up in a rude tone that made me feel uncomfortable. Then constantly approaching the table to hurry us along. The place was busy but that's no excuse. Then on leaving I was called a Mr and when I corrected the waitress she just didn't even acknowledge me. After my card declined they snached the plate of mints from us, they made such a scene about my card being declined after using the wrong card, to cause embarrassment. Honestly the whole ordeal was shameful and took away what was ment to be a relaxed enjoyable evening out. They lost out on a tip for this and a returning customer.

Been to the Sheesh many times,on this occasion I got a takeaway, disappointed that I was charged the same price as I would have if I'd stayed and took a table, surely there should have been some discount

Went here out of the blue,been before years ago,really nice meal staff very friendly and not a bad price.

I went here on Tuesday, I have been going here since I was a young lad and its always been spot on faultless. Tuesday I experienced the worst curry I have ever had chicken tikka was burnt and tasteless. Staff are fantastic but the food has gone down hill 😢 such a shame

great curry house. the proprietor was very attentive on one occasion when I visited a while back. I wanted the most authentic dish, and he recommended the lamb on the bone, which was a Pakistani recipe. My friend wanted a vindaloo cooked in a south Indian way. The owner suggested that he could try a different dish with extra spice as that would be closer to what he was asking for, rather then their version of a vindaloo. Lets just say there was a of of fresh chilli. And a lot of flavour

I hate this place. The food was great not going to lie. But the whole experience was ruined by one of their waiters named "Nikhil" he went there and asked me out on a date in front of my friends. I said no but he insisted and annoyed me a lot. He even followed one of my friends going to the washroom and asked her to talk to me about it which is disgusting. I enjoyed the food but the whole experience was ruined due to that.

Great place for curry. I’ve been trying to move away from the normal chicken and lamb dishes for several years. With some helpful advise from the owner we opted for a fish marsala with fresh garlic cloves - fresh spinach and spices for mains. We also ordered a mix starter for two, but it was ample for three and fantastic value and we enjoyed it (my personal favourite). The meal was wonderful and all spices complemented the fish and not over powered with hot chillies. With a freshly made naan and a paint of Cobra the meal was complete. This is a must to go place as the owner is always available to help with food choices. Excellent experience and friendly staff.
