Service was very slow. The place was very busy - but we waited neary an hour and half for our food. The food tasted OK - nothing special - however the tapas was luke warm (probably been at waiting while the other courses were finished). The main seating area is just open plan with no atomosphere. Staff were friendly and menu had a good selection.

Lovely food with a reasonably unique Indian tapas which allows you to have multiple options. Good if you want to try something now but don't want to risk losing your entire meal over something you don't end up liking.

The food was delicious and staff was very kind and friendly. Each and every dish we tried was very tasty. Definitely going to repeat.

Updated review: I had a not so great experience which having time to think about it, it could happen at any restraunt and shouldn't be a reason to not not give sheesh mahal my custom. After seeing their posts on Facebook, the effort and dedication they put into their food and the community, I decided to return. Returned with an amazing balti, garlic rice and naan! I have tried all the Indian takeaways in hartlepool and this one bar none is hands down the best.

Sheesh mahal is the place to be in Hartlepool! The place is big and spacious and the food is top notch. Their Indian tapas is a bargain! Staff are amazing and friendly. 10/10 all round

To be fair I'm not really an Indian Cusine fan...Well that is till I was introduced to the Sheesh Mahal by a family member. We entered into modern comfortable surroundings and I was so impressed by the abstinence of spicey smells from the open veiwed kitchen. We were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to our table and asked if we would like drinks and given the menu. I explained that I didn't like coconut or tomatoes and was greatly surprised by the choice I could choose from. We both opted for the special 5 course Meal deal which included poppadoms + 3 dips Starter Mains a rice dish and a glass of wine or soft drink at an amazing price. The food was delicious hot , plenty full, and not overly spicy. Despite been busy as there were a few large parties we did not feel rushed or wait overly long between courses. The service was spot on . Excellent evening and I now am an Indian Cusine convert. Now looking forward to our next visit.

Went for xmas day dinner. 12pm till 3pm sitting. Waiter 80 mins for starter's then another 80 mins for mains . Next sitting was waiting to be seated. We had to take dessert home. The owner was unpolite to our complaints. And threw a £6 deduction at us, didn't even look up from counting is takings. Would not return there again.

Excellent food loads of choices, thanks for accommodating us on Xmas day, the atmosphere in the restaurant was great, very busy and had too wait a little while but wouldn’t expect anything else on Xmas day when it’s busy. And the steak and the chicken nuggets where great for the bairn and father in law who don’t eat Indian food. Thanks again.

Our first time here with my family today. What a lovely place the food was so delicious along with friendly staff who served us. The chefs want a medal for there expertise in the kitchen excellent work. We will definitely be visiting again.

Had the tapas special at £15.95. Chicken dishes were overcooked an the lamb dish was very tough. My wife the next morning was very poorly.

A great Indian that offers a tapas option as well as a la carte. The service is great and they seated us in a quiet area so my husband who has a hearing problem could hear. The food is good and the portions manageable.

The food was excellent. I was struggling with what to order, so I asked for a recommendation, and it was delicious. The service was very good. Maybe the lights inside were a bit too bright. Other than that, it was brilliant.

Reasonably priced menu and tasty food.

Called in to Sheesh Mahal for a takeaway biriani and it was delicious. Very fresh, hot and great portion. The people serving were also very friendly. Will definitely be back and eat in next time.

Lovely atmosphere and clean. You can view into kitchen so you can see the same cleanliness standards are kept there aswell. Food is delicious. Custoker service is great. Ive ordered for collection and food is always ready on time and well packaged and food is still sane great quality you would get in restaurant.

Superb Bangladeshi restaurant. The staff are all very pleasant and the food was great. They do an Indian Tapas for (I think) £15.99 which is a starter, two mains, a bread and rice. Gorgeous.

Probably the best curry I have had since I moved from Leicester. Try the tapas menu, it's fantastic values

Booked table for 4 a few days prior to our visit, when we got there were taken to our table, and ordered drinks and starters, were partway through these when they turned up to take orders for main course so had to stop to read menus again. Anyway starters and mains were lovely. When they came to clear table we asked to see the desert menu, but they brought the bill saying they needed the table shortly????? NOT the service you expect put us off going again

Really nice food and quiet cheep

Beautiful food, this was the best Indian I've had in this country. I can thoroughly recommend the Achar lamb. The staff are very attentive, the whole experience makes it well worth a visit.

Wasn't sure whether to dine here after reading some reviews, but we had had a long trip and needed to eat. The food was actually very nice, my chicken chatt starter was very very nice. Service was ok but I was not sure about the layout or decor. Its a large room full of tables, brightly lit creating zero atmosphere. I'm a fan of a traditional style restaurant hopefully with booth or ultra modern style but this was neither. It's a shame really as it does detract from the food which is good.

very slow service,nosy at the back tables, food good, watch parking at the front charged 24/7 and if you do not see signs in the dark your will end up £60 parking fine.

As it was getting late we decided to share four starters and a naan, everything was cooked right in front of us and presented wonderfully. There was nothing to fault including the price.

Fantastic food all freshly cooked. Open kitchen allows you to see your food being made to order. Would not go anywhere else.

£5.50 for a can of cider!!! A crate of 10 is only a tenner!!! We got 9 between the 5 of us and where charged £49.50!!! Absolutely disgusting!!! And as you leave they have the crates sitting there that they're obviously just buying from the shop!!!

Why do the staff argue with their diners? I was having an average meal with my family & the table next to me made a complaint about the slow service, next thing an Indian lady comes over & starts to argue with the table, I’m absolutely gobsmacked as they had a fair point, the service was very slow & the food wasn’t the best, if it was a male worker I’m sure they would have been punched in the face, absolutely pathetic, once the table had left this lady started to apologise for the tables attitude, I could hold back & said they where absolutely right, your service is very poor & your attitude is disgraceful, I told her that my self & my family will never come here again & added that I would not tolerate any shouting back, at which point she walked away, thankfully, bizarre meal out, very unsettling, as though she couldn’t control herself.

back to Sheesh after missing it for a couple of months and nothings changed, it's still great value high quality food with excellent service. Always have the mixed kebab starter which is delicious and boring old fart that I am I always have Chicken tikka Massala (because its fabulous and I love it) whilst the missus tried the chefs special chicken in minced meat this time and she mopped her plate up - she tries different dishes each time we go and has never been dissapointed. Great customer service and the thurs / sun specials are a real bargain - poppadoms with dips, starter, main course, rice dish and glass of wine for less than £12 - don't know how they do it but glad they do. I'm loving it

Our favourite Indian restaurant which we’ve now been coming to for the last few years and it’s never failed to satisfy. We get the Tapas deal which is £12.95 which is sensational value for money. You get a starter which consists of over 12 options , 2 curry dishes of your choice, rice and naan bread. The quality of the food is exquisite. The staff are friendly and polite everytime, we left feeling full and only spent £44 between 2 of us including drinks and poppadoms.

Once again an excellent meal. Can never fault the place the food, service and atmosphere is so good. If you're looking for an Indian restaurant this is the one

Probably the best Indian food I've ever tasted. Was authentic and felt homemade. Okra was beautiful and popped in your mouth. A family run business with friendly staff and a very helpful waitress with a twinkle in her eye who was keen to give the customers what they want. Hats off to this place. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely meal.

I am going to recommend to all my friends, it was amazing. I’m really looking forward to going back. I had the Chikken Tikka Palak and coconut naan. Absolutely gorgeous, tasty food. My friend had the Ocra (which was soooo good, very tasty), and she had the chicken paneer, and a roasted aubergine, and something else I can’t remember. Anyway it was all perfect. Got a take away, bettween 10 lads every single one of us were blown away with the sheer quality, and hospitality. Wouldn’t go any where else for an Indian. Very impressive

Crap! Took food away for people when went for a cigarette, was told "so you should have waited" custome care is crap and it was like building site inside no decor at it was all osb board onbthe walls. Would never go back ever! Would not recommend to anyone!

Restaurant was red hot, they sat us at the back in the dark when all the tables at the front were free. Sat down and immediately noticed flies everywhere. Probably around 50 or so flies on the wall next to our table. Really off putting. Asked to move because of the flies to the front and they didnt really acknowledge the issue. Food was average at best for the price paid. Seeing the flies and lack of action to stop them, wouldnt go back. Dread to think what their kitchen is like.

After seeking advice from Shay regarding ordering a takeaway, I can only say probably the best Indian meal I've had, the rice was light and flavoursome, the Lamb madras was exceptional in taste and spice levels, onion bahji were crispy and delicious, the garlic and chilli Naan was both spicy and tasty with a following afterburner lol. All in all an amazing meal, thanks to each and everyone for the awesome meal 🙏

Been here in the past, always enjoyed it but not yesterday, ordered king prawn biryani for me and hubby, totally different biryani to what we had last time, this one was bland and tasteless, Hubby complained but nothing done, what a disappointment! Cost hubby over 45 pounds including drinks, Gutted!! We left loads of food on our plates.

Terrible service, one of our part didn't get there's it somehow got lost. Not sure how that can happen when all three orders were taken at the same time. Starters came out at different times so none of us actually ate together. Tandoori mixed grill....absolute joke. Swimming in oil or ghee, either way it was horrible. The 'tapas' was basically tablespoon sizes of food for a very inflated price. Avoid

Visited here and had the tapas, regrettably all dishes starters and various mains tasted the same, you could not differentiate and most certainly lacked the spices. Portion size was adequate, but quality is more important-sorry.

Was pretty quiet when we visited. However, on the plus side, we were served our food really quickly. Ordered the Indian Tapas meal, which comprised of a starter, rice dish and two smaller portions of curry, and a naan again of your choice. Food was hot and more than enough for me and very tasty.
