Good simple food but superb. Excellent quality products used ie sausages, baguettes, bacon etc. been visiting for lunch a couple of times a week for a while now and never disappointed. Owners and staff very welcoming and pleasant. Devastated to learn today that they’re closing down a week on Sunday. I’m away next week so will miss the opportunity to go every day until they close! 😩

It is such a lovely, friendly cafe at Shearwater Lake. We come here often for some drinks, cake or ice creams. The owners bake all their own cakes. They also have an ice cream whippy machine for a '99' with a flake. Absolutely delicious!! Their daily menu is vast. A lovely walk also around part of the lake. The cafe is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We're looking forward to our next visit soon.

Always friendly, always happy and ALWAYS make a great coffee or iced drink. We have eaten here and it was sooooo tasty. Such a blessing that this place exists, as it’s such a good location and the most lovely food. Just make sure you don’t leave your car on the verge anyway, as the ticket wardens are brutal around there 🤣🤣. That isn’t the cafes fault at all, just be careful and only use the car park opposite.

Visited briefly last year for a drink and ice cream, returned today for lunch, which was very nice and good sized portions along with a lovely hot drink each(My Mocha was smashing). Very friendly and polite staff. Later we had an ice cream including a doggy ice cream for my in-laws Greyhound, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Many thanks. Would recommend.

We look forward to our next visit and they have excellent disabled parking.

Heavenly stroll around the lake, followed by super lunch at this lovely cafe . We have visited before and always enjoyed their food here. They serve a wide variety of gf and lactose free items. The owner was very vigilant, noticing that one of the items chosen may possibly contain gluten!. I was very grateful that she was so observant as one of us is very intolerant to gluten, Very friendly and efficient staff and the café serves great food.

Save yourself being shouted at bring your own hot drink if you visit the lake. Never experienced such appalling customer service anywhere ever before. I missheard the milk type when told by the server this morning but it was unnecessary to shout at me and be rude. You may want to consider a career move.

Called in for lunch The menu was amazing so much to choose from from breakfast to baguettes and sandwiches and cakes. We chose a prawn baguette with a side salad and a small bowl of crisps and we had a bottle of San Miguel and a bottle of cider. The price was about £8.45 which was really reasonable. The service was very good and when we’d finished I was looking if I could get into the café with my mobility scooter there was a slight stepand the gentleman that worked there said that the next time he would put a ramp down for me, which I thought was very thoughtful. I would like to thank him very much definitely go back there again even if it’s just to eat

Lee, the owner was very welcoming and very sensitive towards adapting normal rules and allowing my disabled husband to park closer than the usual car park that was opposite. The car park opposite the tea rooms has room for about 40 vehicles. Plenty of seating room inside and out with well placed tables and all with sunshades. The menu was very varied and pleasing. Serving, breakfast, lunch and tea. 9am-5pm..It was a very busy time whilst we were there but the young staff were plenty , polite and helpful, keeping tables cleared and continuing serving.

Absolutely horrendous service, rudest man I’ve ever come across in a “hospitality” setting. Shouted at me in front of everyone because I asked for scrambled Egg when it wasn’t busy. Then proceeded to shoot at me for getting some cake as I wasn’t aware you Couldn’t get a slice of cake yourself. Disgusting behaviour ruined the whole day for me and my family. Good wasn’t nice either. The best but about it was the view but it’s a shame some people have to ruin it all. Do not come here unless you want your day ruined.

Lovely spot for a cuppa or something more, cash and card payments (they do prefer cash so if you can). We grabbed a cuppa on the way out for out a walk then got lunch when back. It’s very popular and you can see why. Chap even was asking if people where parked on the road when the warden was going around… fyi there are not signs or lines on the road but park there at your peril - when we left every car parked on the road had a ticket!

This Cafe with its Vista is really worth a visit. I have used it for business breakfasts as well as to meet friends and Family. The food is really nice, nothing special, not fine dining but seems to be be made with good quality ingredients that are locally sourced. They serve a wide variety of food and excellent cake that you can look forward to experiencing after a walk around the lake. They are dog friendly and have loads of outside seating for the muddy and kids that want to be outside. My favourite is the Fishermans Breakfast, if they are busy, they can't swap and change what is on the set menu, but it is always worth asking, you never know, if it's not to tricky? but dont be disappointed. The building is old and hard to heat so suggest you include a coat when you go, if you do you will also have the option to sit outside leisurely watching the lake and the seasons change. Service is exceptional for such a place and the staff have always been friendly, in fact it's nice to find such engaging young people, and always helpful. A good all-round experience, as I said ''not fancy dining'' but good people doing a good job, thank you

Sometimes one falls in luck with a place when stopping randomly for a quick lunch before a stroll along the lake. This place is an hidden gem. And i am a caterer of a 30 years career. Only had a bacon bap but bread was astonishing, soft and yet crusty, bacon was free range, egg was fresh (suspecting farmed too, taste of the eggyolk). The chap running it super friendly. The view is superb and all the other plates i managed to discretely glance at while i was there looked equally copious and scrumptious. Will be back big time. Want to try the homemade cheese scone and the cheddar stilton and walnut toasties.Cakes are also looking homemade.Who'd a thought it at this spot.Well done guys, a very nice surprising experience indeed.

I am in disbelief at some of the reviews on here about the public toilets and I want to add my opinion. These are for paying customers. There is a track and trace policy in place due to the pandemic and these toilets are cleaned regularly for our safety. If people can’t respect these guidelines then that speaks more about them as people NOT the staff at the tea rooms. These people are simply trying to look after everyone’s health. If you approach people with an aggressive manner don’t be shocked when you are asked to leave. Today I had a beautifully cooked all day breakfast and I am a very happy customer.

My wife and I were enjoying a cup of tea before our walk, when we were witness to an upsetting incident. Along with the previous responder, we saw that a pregnant lady had walked straight past the tea room from the external road, and tried to access the privately owned toilets. There has been a policy in place for at least 2 years, that the toilets are only for the use of paying customers, and that there is a key which can be obtained from the tearoom. So, for the pregnant lady in question to say "Today I needed the toilet before our walk. The toilets are now padlocked which they have never been before." ..... begs some further questions about her actions and words. As is required by the gov't, there is a track and trace system for the tea rooms, which includes the toilets. As the lady had bypassed the tearoom, she had not adhered to the protocol. Thankfully, she was able to use the toilet as her plight was recognised by sympathy from paying customers, and staff of the tearoom. Apart from this distasteful incident, our visit was exemplary, the setting, staff, and quality of service excellent.

Wow, I can not believe individuals at the cafe are defending the rude management that did not allow a pregnant woman the use of the toilet. You should be ashamed. I see other reviews have also mentioned rude management and not allowing pregnant women the use of the toilet, so this is not an isolated incident specific to COVID times. Adherence to COVID guidelines should not mean that staff dispensed with reason and politeness. We all know it takes seconds for track and trace details to be given. To be fair the coffee and cake isn’t bad.

This is a very busy thriving cafe and I'm delighted it seems to be doing well. As a local, it's perfectly placed to take visitors midway after a big walk or bike ride. It serves good coffee with delicious cake choices. The only downside is that I think the managers have approached the toilet policy all wrong; instead of putting up aggressive notices and locking the loos, why don't they share the resource they have and if people don't have time for a coffee, then ask kindly if they'd consider a donation. The cafe is in the middle of nowhere with the only loos around; lots of people would be happy to make a donation or would remember you'd shared and come back for lunch or cake another time. It's a small thing but seems unnecessarily mean spirited. I hoped to have the courage to tell the managers when I was there at the weekend (again) but he seemed a bit grumpy and harassed so I didn't think the timing was good. I hope they managers take this in the friendly spirit it's intended.

After walking around the lake we stopped here for cake and coffee. Very good service and lots of seating outside. Plus the dogs have a treat with some doggie Icecream. A very pleasant time spent here.

We love going to shearwater to walk our little dogs after we moved, and today was no different. We had a nice welcome by the staff, a coach had pulled up on the road, soon enough the place was full! Lucky we got there before they all came in. The man at the counter was kind. My wife and I compliment the chef, very quick!

This is a gorgeous place to visit. The food is fresh, clean and cooked well. They have recently had their outside toilets painted. Overall this place is a definite to visit. There is an honesty box to make a donation for visiting the lake.

Just want to say what a very warm welcome we had. We randomly stopped for lunch and had the best panini and cake I have had in a long time. Panini had a salad and homemade coleslaw so really good value for money. Finished off with a delicious homemade chocolate cake (should have shared it!) The staff were so busy but nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely return when meeting up again. Highly recommended Shearwater Lake Tea Rooms.

We’d read the reviews so decided to cycle from Center Parcs. It’s downhill all the way so be prepared for a steep climb back if you’re coming from Center Parcs. The cafe looked appealing with plenty of outdoor seating but the cake was awful. Dry coffee and walnut cake that was so thinly cut we could see through to the plates. Coffee was ok, not very hot. Toilets were filthy dirty, which I can’t understand... the gardens were very well kept, why not put a few hours into cleaning the toilets as well? The view/location can’t be faulted.

Lovely tea rooms. Dog friendly. Delicious baguettes & paninis- slightly on the more expensive side £7.95 but sandwiches available for £5. Setting really picturesque even though we went on a rainy overcast day. Service swift & friendly.

First time to Shearwater despite having lived here for a number of years - lovely long walk with friends, and an ideal coffee and cake at the end - perfect. I'm told the breakfasts are excellent too - certainly going to try them after an early morning walk!

My friends and I and our dogs had a very pleasant coffee and tea stop after a good walk through part of Longleat. The service was very prompt and a very polite waitress brought our dogs a homemade treat each which they thoroughly enjoyed! Will definitely stop there again as they are dog friendly.

Stopped on a trip from Cinderford to Romsey , have driven past many times but never had time to stop, husband and son had ‘small ‘ breakfast and I had toast and jam, the breakfast was a great size, quickly served and tasted great, really good value for money . Toilets and rest of premises are really clean and can’t wait to visit again

Ok so Lynne and I are back at The New Inn with friends having yet another superb meal. We have now eaten here a few times and I feel I should commend the staff and the chef ( who we found out his name was Ronnie ) very nice touch when he comes out of the kitchen personally to ask if everything is ok. Once again superb service and our friends also commented on how lovely this superb pub/restaurant is. Even when we pop in for a snack Pizza that is just superb. Well done all at The New Inn. we certainly will be back and so will our friends. You guys deserve to do well as you always go the extra mile. Thank you, so refreshing in this day and age . We will be booking for a meal again l this Saturday night with some more friends. all the very best Ian & Lynne

The Bradley Hare is an elegant enterprise but tends to cater for diners and private parties rather than dog walkers looking for a pint and a sandwich; indeed the lunchtime snack menu is almost non existent. On occasions the bar closes completely to facilitate private functions. In short, the Bradley Hare is perhaps more of a "restaurant with rooms" rather than a traditional hostelry.
