Shawarmerz Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Ordered online through the FoodHub website and ended up waiting 2 hours for cold food. We rang several times to ask where it was after the first hour and we were told we had given the wrong address, but when checked our email confirmation, our address is right. So we rang again and they said that the driver had to go back to the restaurant and he will be on his way soon. We waited another 25 minutes and rang again, they said he is almost there. The guy turned up on a bike... then he didn't even know if the order was paid or not so he had to phone the restaurant and ask. While we were stood out in the street, holding cash to give him. Finally we got our food but when opened, it's the wrong order. We ordered rice shawarma mix and chicken shawarma mix. We had the shawarma mixes but no chips and no rice but a random chicken and chips wrap. We gave up at this point and just ate it. We're starving and tired. Honestly, we ordered from here because we had such a good order last time, food was delicious and deliver was quick. This time, the food is cold, order wrong, delivery was slow and the customer service on the phone was shocking.

Many reviews here complain about the service, however I did not see a problem with it necessarily. The chips were done well and not too greasy with lovely sauces to go with. However, the chicken was horrific. Mostly overcooked, rubbery and also cold. The parts that seemed better done were drenched in grease and it was just not enjoyable. The bread was okay I have no quarrels with that. The salad was unique compared to many places However the pickle variety was actually very enjoyable. If it weren't for the awful chicken, supposedly the centre point of the dish, it would've been a nice meal

The chicken was pink, the rice had some plastic string in and I was overcharged. I also witnessed staff smoking wearing gloves, going in and out amid cars then behind the counter counter all in which they never changed gloves. The staff we rude, on phones whilst also preparing gloves and also had headphones in. Definitely would not recommend. Overall, unhygienic breaching food safety by contamination of food and obviously no handwashing. Rude staff who clearly don’t want to be there and not people who want to work in a people job. EHO need to have a visit here and sort this place out.

Food was tasty as always. Loved the new containers which kept it warm and not as messy with the sauces separate. Lamb and chicken were a little dry but expected on a satyrday night at prime time. Would recommend the wrap meals.

It's NOT bad but good either. There is better shawarma restaurant called the bake in eldon Square Mall it is 2mins walk away, cheaper prices, and wayy more tasty

They took over 15 minutes to prepare my Chicken Shawarma and the food was pretty mid compared to other Shawarma places

Never order from here, the workers seem to hate every second they spend there, the food is always late and the workers don't even bother to apologize for the delay and when the food finally arrives you expect a tasty and hot dish, right? Well, keep waiting because that's not the case. I don't understand how it's still open or why the owners don't do anything.

I ordered and paid for the food and did not receive it and I did not even get a notification that the driver is outside. The order was just delivered and enjoyed and I have not received my order yet.. Please check my order and return the money to me

Ordered delivery. Was not very good (obviously mistake and error) contacted them the next day and everything sorted, the guy who handled it was really really professional and food was spot on 2nd time. Couldn’t ask for better service from him tbh. Was very good.

Delivery was on time but the driver sat down stairs at the bottom of the flats and refused to bring the food up to the door….i had put delivery instruction in the notes….by the time he fussed on and I had to get ready to go down 9 floors the food was freezing cold and greasy

the delivery was due between 6 and 6.20. it is 6.50 and still hasn't arrived. the restaurant isn't answering the phone either

First time customer. Very tasty. 45 minutes late, and no way of calling the restaurant to check (the number diverts to a full answer machine), chips were cold. Darragh obviously has a role to play, so I will give them another chance when we're not experiencing a storm!

Hasn’t even arrived, they must have blocked my number as I cannot ring them anymore. Over 3 hours since my order was put in! They haven’t called me at all, and cctv doesn’t show any delivery attempted. So just took the money and marked as delivered in just eat, rip off

My favourite shawarma place to order from on Just Eat. I usually only ever buy the double mix special mix meal. I like the red food-containers as it keeps the food warm and I like that the wrap cut so I can dip the portions into the sauces. Decent.

Really bad quality food, it's a disgrace to the Lebanese/Syrian food, I've placed an order yesterday they've mixed up the order and send us a substitution, when i explained that for medical reasons we can't have the rice and whatever shawarma meat (with disgusting smell) the delivery guy said he would go back and get us the right order he said it'll take him 15min, 3hours later i called them to check but apparently the delivery guy was praying, so he prioritised praying over making a diabetic person wait to have their meal! Anyhow the person on the phone said that this holy man would contact me back after he finishes praying but of course they never did! I wouldn't recommend this shop not only for their ignorance and lack of empathy on this occasion, they're absolutely arrogant and their food should not qualify to be called Lebanese or Syrian!.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I had the lamb shawerma and it honestly tasted like back home, truly authentic, so I had to. Wish they don’t serve boycotted drinks though, that was really disappointing.

Placed order for Shawarma chicken with rice and a drink - FANTA FRUIT TWIST. The food is exceptionally good but I got a FRUIT SHOOT instead. Upon calling the restaurant got to speak to an angry guy who despite being rude and loud has promised two Fantas with next order. Hopefully the restaurant honours his promise.

I tried the food from here, and they all tasted incredibly authentic. The dishes were served with a fresh salad and an irresistible variety of pickles—crunchy carrots, cucumbers, tangy radish, and spicy chillies that added a perfect zing. The spicy mayo and garlic mayo were delicious, making each bite even more enjoyable. Overall, a fantastic meal!

Lovely shawarma wraps in here it gets quite busy at times not many seats food fresh and reasonably priced.

I only visited because of the reviews .I ordered the main chicken shawarma with rice ..suppose to come with salad and flatbread. Presentation was great however: Flatbread had absolutely no taste felt like I bit paper couldn't eat it Rice was ok Chicken was salty and greasy mostly just too salt ...could not eat it The salad isn't actually salad , just some pickled bits ...I thought it would be lettuce etc. Overall very disappointing, won't be back To be honest I'm probably spoilt with this kind of food I go to another Shawarma place (not far from this one) that is just fab for the same money I get rice, salad, freshly made bread and the chicken is flavourful , maybe this place is just not my cup of tea.

We LOVE this place!!! It’s convenient, cheap eats but the food is ‘chefs kiss’ good!!! I’ve even brought my mam here and she tried the lamb shawarma and loved it!!!! We would recommend this to EVERYONE! Forget Bake One…THIS IS THE PLACE TO GET A GREAT SHAWARMA!!!

Ordered a shawarma wrap after a long long week. I waited 30 minutes past the estimated arrival before I decided to call the restaurant. The person on the other end shouted at me and hung up on me. Totally unprofessional behaviour. I would not ever recommend this place to anybody neither would I ever set foot into this place.

The service here is downright appalling. The staff's English is so poor that trying to communicate with them is a frustrating joke. Adding insult to injury, they shamelessly prioritize serving other customers in Arabic while blatantly ignoring you. This level of disrespect and sheer incompetence is absolutely intolerable.

The service here is absolutely atrocious. The staff can barely manage a word of English, making communication nearly impossible. To make matters worse, they blatantly prioritize serving other customers in Arabic while completely ignoring you. This level of disregard and incompetence is utterly unacceptable.

One of the best shawarma I have tasted in Newcastle. His service is nice, the order does not take much time, and their dealings with the customer are elegant👏🏻

Went in today, the staff served someone else instead of me even though i was stood waiting around 20 minutes to be served, then when i got my lamb sharwama wrap it was laced in chilli i had asked for both chilli and garlic and the lamb was raw chewy and bloody disgusting!

Food was 45 min late. called the restaurant 4 times, they said they will talk to the delivery driver and let me know. never called me back. delivery driver called me and said he is waiting outside of my house and asked me to come out. i said you are not as I'm standing next to the window, i don't see you here. he called me from a different address, when it not the write address, he said i need to wait outside and when i see a white car, i have to tap the phone. When I said i don't have any intention to wait outside in this code, bring me my food. he said its not his problem if not being delivered. When food delivered he was extremely rude again. Food was cold - chips, bread everything. I will not order again from this place ever again. And I want full refund

Just ordered 2 chicken parmesans and a shawarma wrap. Both chicken parmesans never even showed up, and when I called up just now to ask why, the rude guy on the other end of the phone just hung up on me! This is the second time my order has been wrong or had items missing from here, so it's safe to say I'm never going back! Absolutely terrible customer service

Not tasty at all. Doesn’t provide tissue. They have tissue in place but it’s tissue roll to wipe tables (rough) not a facial tissue The worker was mopping the floor while I was eating. Kind of disrespect and not to mention he used lots of Clorox so feel unpleasant while eating. Not recommended

This is probably the worst example of this cuisine I've ever encountered. Both the lamb and the chicken were overcooked, so much so that they had the consistency of burnt wood. Less said about the taste the better. Just awful. Avoid at all cost. Only gave one star because it wasn't possible to submit the review without the minimum. Place doesn't deserve a single star.

On way back to hotel got a bit peckish noticed this little gem. It was busy food looked good reasonable priced. Pepperoni pizza and 1/2 chicken and chips both excellent highly recommended will definitely be back. Just won't buy so much good portions 👍

Absolutely disgusting. Filthy animals work here. Do not visit this place at any cost. You're better off eating from the floor outside central station like the seagulls! Also, this review is only because they sent their goons to my house to post a leaflet even though I have a notice on my door warning them. So, I hope this review has an effect on your establishment. I came here from a spontaneous outing proposed the morning of by Zain. We came as a group and we had the best time. The staff was so nice and even offered us dessert, always smiling and charming. The food was also so nice, I believe I know my shawarmas and this one is up there with the best ones. Will eat here again (probably next week) Thank you for having us.

I recruited a group of my friends for a spontaneous lunch after uni. We had the shawerma wrap meal deals. They were delicious as always and they remind me of shawermas from back home. At the end of our meal, we got complimentary desert which consisted of baqlava and a pudding. Kudos to the staff! Definitely would recommend and would come again.
