Hadn't visited this place for quite a while despite previously being a regular Last 3 times, Wow! Absolutely perfect fish and chips. Always been good. Have forgotten how good they are. Good service. Fish cooked to perfection each time and chips how they should be. Definitely the best place in town. Other fish and chip shops in town are a disappointment.

A really great take away and quality fish and chips. The portions are very generous and well cooked. The chips are really tasty and cooked to give a great crunch. The batter on the fish was light and tasty. Thank you

Should have turned around the second we walked in… 2 young lads serving in clothes that clearly haven’t been washed in days grubby hoodies with grease and dried batter all down it. It doesn’t send a good impression especially when this was within 30 mins of opening? Chips were ok but not ur usual taste of the fish and chip shop chips, the batter on the fish was just so greasy had to pick the fish out inside. Wont be going back

Been coming to St Ives for 30 years and have always gone to The Balancing Eel.Now while there is nothing wrong with The Balancing Eel, Sharky's is far better.So glad we found it

Last five plus times we have visited 10/10 very consistent Standard and quality. When my sister visits from Manchester F& C from Sharkys are a must during her stay, usually first night 🤣 On saying this my friend prefers soggy chips so Sharkys is not for her. So if you are wanting a good portion of crisp well cooked fish and chips at a reasonable price you won’t go far wrong giving Sharkys a visit.

Best fish and chips in St Ives, Hayle, Carbis Bay - you name it. NEVER disappoints - favoured by the locals it's too far to walk up the hill for the tourists and better for it. The freshest fish, lightly coated chips - just wonderful.

Only round the corner from me but do the tastiest chips in town. Well priced, staff are absolutely lovely (young guy is great, not sure on his name), curry sauce is amazing and just a great well priced chippy. Always 10/10!

Looked this chippy up on Google maps as it was easy to get to from our holiday home just outside town and did not expect to end up with my best ever fish and chips! The first chip was so crispy and tasty I thought it was a one off but soon discovered they were all like that. The texture and taste of the chips was like those 'triple cooked' ones you pay extra for in a posh pub only better. The fish was pure white and the batter thin and tasty. Sharky's is so much better than the over-rated Fishmarket in Edinburgh

I've been coming to St Ives for years but like most tourists don't often head up to the outskirts at the back of town. This trip, I went out to an industrial estate to buy some fish from Matthew Stevens' warehouse (Rick Stein's wholesale supplier) - nb I would also recommend doing that if you like to cook! I saw Sharkys while there and was curious, looked up the reviews on here and thought I'd give it a try for a change, without necessarily expecting it to be that different from the stuff in town. But it really is. Perfect crispy chips, light batter, good quality fish (though to be fair that's the case in town too). Portions absolutely vast - too big for me really, but then it's probably just what you need if you're coming off a warehouse shift. Couple of things to watch out for - they no longer do dine in, so you have to takeaway. Also, I had Hake, which I guess is probably the less popular option so it was fried to order. They had a few cods lined up ready fried in the hot counter so those might lose something while they're sitting. The staff are great and clearly take care in doing everything properly - loads of guys from the estate were coming in for tea so they obviously get plenty of repeat business. Can't recommend a trip up there enough. Nothing fancy or flashy, just a lovely food business with a lot of pride in what it's doing.

Great food & service, fresh and excellent quality. Far better than trekking into the town centre to be attacked by Seagulls!

We were staying in St Ives and had a takeaway from these guys for nine of us. It was fab and easy to get to on the outskirts of town - saves the long queues down by the harbour!

Good food, great chips and generous portions. The fish was better than most in St Ives, but could have been slightly better. Overall a very good experience and good owners who also thanked us for the custom, even tho he hadn’t served us. Nice touch. A must visit if you want some decent fish and chips in St Ives

In our opinion THE BEST fish and chips in St Ives. As soon as we visit, we have to come to Sharkey's. Gorgeous fish and lovely slightly crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside chips - total winner.

This was just up the road from where we were staying and we had a take away on our first night. The fish was delicious and the chips cooked perfectly. Prices very good for the portion size and there was no queue! Highly recommended!

Down near St Ives on holiday, ordered over the phone, collected shortly after. Lovely crispy chips, and didn't have to drive all the way into town either!

Hands down the BEST fish n chips I have ever eaten in my life. Totally worth the hilly walk up from St Ives, and eating it in the wind & rain. It was simply to die for and I will be telling everyone who is coming to St Ives to pay Sharkys a visit.

Was recommended Sharky's while waiting for food in St Ives. Some of the best fish & chips I've ever tasted...& it's cheaper than in town. More of a local hidden gem! Will be a regular when we return to St Ives! Depending where you are staying & the takeaway's location, you'll probably need a car & a parking space for said car.

Had fish and chips from here and they were excellent especially the chips. Better than you can get down by the harbour.

Been using sharkys for a few years now. Cant fault it, chips are absolutely spot on, the fish is always well cooked, and the portions are big, its a bit out of the way, but find it you wont be disappointed.

What an amazing fish and chip shop! The chips are coated in a crispy batter and are the best I have ever tasted. They are not greasy at all and I can’t fault any dish. The queues get long on a Friday but that stands testament to how good they are.

Omg these are the best fish and chips I've tasted. To think of all the years I used another chippy in Carbis Bay not knowing what Shsrkies were like. We have them every Friday and look forward to them so much.Well done, keep it up.

A bit tucked out of the way from the main town but definitely worth a short drive. Great fish and chips, each meal nicely boxed with great chips too. Would definitely recommend 👍

We were camping and this place is only a 10 min walk from the site. We had already eaten in town twice but St Ives is incredibly full at the moment and not much evidence of social distancing on the streets. We therefore decided to try this and so glad we did.Absolutely beautiful fish. Light fresh and crispy and chips to die for! They are coated in something incredibly moreish!When ordering from a chippy we usually just get one large chips between two which we did here. The portion could easily have fed four people and as wonderful as the chips were, we couldn’t finish them.In our view this is better than any we’ve had anywhere, including restaurants, and we ( before COVID) like to eat out, especially when travelling/ camping.Will be most surprised if you are disappointed

We decided to have some chips one night rather thaneat out. We chose this place because it was right up the hill from where we were staying. The staff were friendly. This isn't a bad place, the chips were cheap enough and lovely, they weren't amazing chips, I do think there are better places down on the front but it's a nice little fish shop and you can get a decent meal here.

You need to look up where it is as you will not just happen upon it accidentally. But happen upon it you should! Great fish and chips although i expected a catch of the day option (there might have been one but I didn't see it as had my eye's on a huge haddock). But they have everything you would normally want from a fish and chip shop and then some so well worth tracking down but you'll probably need a car.Someone else mentioned it in a previous review and i agree the chips have a magic coating!

First time we ordered here the lady serving was really friendly and helpful. The cod and chips were lovely and the batter was light and crispy. So we went back again but this time a different lady was serving who wasnt as helpful or friendly and we felt like we were an inconvenience rather than a paying customer. When we got home the batter was heavy and parts on the bottom so soggy that we had to through it away. Not sure if the cod had been sitting a while and this was why but it was thicker than before and seemed like it hadn't been cooked for long enough. Anyway, real shame as its now put us off buying cod there again. Chips were still really nice though.

Thanks trip advisor! This was the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! Chips were fresh and amazing with a chip butty and curry sauce ( thicker than most ) and the fish was fresh out the sea!

Found this little gem by accident (thanks TripAdvisor!) and we weren't disappointed. The lightest, most flavourful batter I've had in years. Everything was just cooked to perfection! The chips are also crispy and super tasty. So when your in St Ives, don't miss out on having the most amazing fish and chips in Cornwall! It's fantastic!

I’m passionate about this beautiful meal of fish and chips and have been meaning to try Sharkies for ages. My local was in Hayle, but I eventually bought cod and chips at Sharkies last Friday, and I am kicking myself for taking this long to go there as they were the best I’ve ever had. The chips were nice and dry and not greasy in any way whatsoever. The cod was fantastic with no after taste from the batter with a superbly sized portion just like the chips. I’m not going anywhere else for my fish and chips, it’s Sharkies from now on. Well done, don’t change anything as you got it spot on. See you very soon....I can’t wait.

Staying on a touring site just round the corner from this little gem. Spotted the sign driving down to st Ives on Sunday. Closed Sunday and Monday so popped down today. Fish is brilliantly cooked lovely and crispy, beautiful big chunks of fish and very tasty. The chips also are lovely and crispy and cooked perfect. Glad I stumbled on it. Won’t be my last visit will always use shark eyes now

Only been once and I must say the fish and chips were freshly cooked to order and was cooked perfectly and plenty big enough portion will be back soon for more. I would definitely recommend sharks.

I have been coming to St Ives for 33 years to visit family and have eaten at most of the towns chip shops, but by far Sharkeys is the he best. Always fresh, hot and tasty. Although not in the town centre it is very popular and the staff are friendly and professional and has a very extensive menu. Thoroughly recommend this place.

In short, the best fish and chips in St Ives. For years we've bought from elsewhere and now we've found Sharkys, we are converts. Superb fish, brilliant crisp chips, even after bringing them back to the house. Highly recommended.

I've been coming to St Ives since I was born due to the family living there.

We heard of becks fish and chips and sharkys fish and chips and decided on sharkys due to all the blue shark spotting that’s been happening recently. Long trip to get them and very worth it. Ate them at home and fell asleep not long after. Large chips are very large and wouldn’t want it any other way. Delicious fish and battered fantastically well. Thanks

Always a favourite. Any visit to St Ives demands a fish and chips dinner from Sarkys. Though tucked away in an industrial estate near the fire station take time and programme your sat nav to find this well run, clean and value for money chippy. A good range of food that is cooked to order, so always fresh and tasty.

Had my supper from here last night , had fish chips and mushy peas deal . Chip were lovely but the star of the sshow was the cod , great light batter not greasy or heavy and the fish cooked to perfection . A first class takeaway best I've had in along time .

We don’t buy a lot of fish & chips but when we do we’ve always enjoyed Sharkys. There’s times when a few extra chips wouldn’t go amiss but staff are normally happy to top up with a scoop. Recommended.

We stayed as a family of 9 in a house in St Ives and were looking for somewhere to get fish and chips from. Although we were within walking distance of the harbour and town it was not practical to drive ( sheer volume of traffic) and walking meant they would be cold when we got them home. I remembered seeing a sign for Sharkys as we approached St Ives and looked up the location. Sharkys was on an industrial estate very close to us so we decided to try them. Parking was easy and the restaurant was clean and staff friendly. We were not disappointed. The fish was fresh, crispy batter and not greasy and the chips were fluffy and crispy and delicious! Our family live in Whitstable and fresh fish and chips are hard to beat but I think we found it in this gem of a fish and chip shop! If only it weren't 600 miles away!! I know we will be back for another visit before we go home again. Highly recommend

We always go here when we fancy fish and chips, I don't think any of the ones in town compare, the chips are crispy and fluffy at the same, service with a smile and amazing cod roe, what more could you want!

Fantastic fish and chips! Would definitely recommend the fish and most definitely the chips. We are staying less than a mile away in a cottage and the food was perfect after a hard day site seeing!

I ordered over the phone and sent a cab to pick it up,4xc cod and chips,as usual to many chips but the four of us tried our best to demolish them,the fish was crispy and so soft inside great fish great chips and a good price will use again

Food here is usually very good! Eat here quite often and have only ever had one bad meal. Chips are very thick and fresh! Some nice staff too.

Not that accessible for St Ives centre being on the Penbeagle Industrial Estate, but some of the best fish and chips we have had.Always busy as the local housing estate is close by. The fish is always excellent and very fresh. We used it about 8 times last summer May - August.

Wow, as a resident of St Ives I had never tried this chip shop as it's at the very top of town (uplong as we call it). Service was quick, portion size very generous (we couldn't finish ours) prices very competitive, but, best of all the quality was superb. Batter on fish lovely and crunchy - no soggy bottoms here. Chips were obviously home made, crunchy on the outside moist inside and very tasty, quality potatoes must be being used. Well done Sharkeys we will travel to the top of town in future

My first experience of Sharkys was a positive one, their fish and chips are awesome. I was really pleased with the portion sizes which could easily be shared out among the family. The current staff are always happy to serve you and make you feel welcome! Value for money and certainly recommend this place if your feeling lazy and don't feel like cooking or craving a nice piece of fish xD

As the previous reviews say 'don't be put off by the location. Best fish and chips I've had for a long times. Fish is freshly cooked to order with a choice of cod, haddock and hake. Excellent crisp batter. Chips are firm and tasty, not a hint of sogginess. The usual chip shop other items including sausage, mushy peas etc etc and even calamari and battered mars bar! Worth travelling from John O Groats!

During our stay in St Ives we had a couple of days of bad weather so decided to stay in one night and get some fish and chips. We decided to try Sharkeys. The fish was beautifully fresh, with light crispy battery and the chips were lovely. Definitely give them a try!

Located in an industrial estate of all places, we only happened upon Sharky's as we had our car in the long-stay car park in the industrial estate...But I'm glad we did! Saturday night fish and chips has long been a tradition in our family, so having seen the location of Sharky's, we decided to ask for recommendations in the local Co-op...They all said "Sharky's". So, we drove there and ordered the food! We ordered the Cod & Chips, Battered Sausage & Chips, Fishcake & Chips and a "Veggie Fry" (I think was called - for the awkward vegetarian in our family!). Everything cooked fresh to order. The chips were excellent, being brown and crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. I think this is assisted by putting everything in individual cardboard boxes, rather than wrapping in greaseproof paper. The one criticism might be that the cod was slightly over-cooked, so the flesh of the fish (where is was quite thin), was slightly dry. Taste was excellent though. Thoroughly recommend getting in your car and driving here when you're in St. Ives...

Don't be put off thinking you are on the wrong road it is situated on an industrial estate but omg the fish was fantastic 5 star chippy

The chips where like perfect roast potatoes, amazing. The fish was moist and batter crispy....so good. Just a shame I live 300 miles away!....

Depends on how you like your chips, I prefer them not so crisp so do not visit often. It is however the only Chippy at top end of town up from firestation. Well signposted.

Alles war frisch und sehr gut zubereitet, dass Personal nett und freundlich,Preis war eher teurer aber dafür war die Portion riesig und für mich nicht zu schaffen, obwohl ich nur die kleine (?) Portion Fritten hatte...absolut empfehlenswert, jederzeit wieder wenn ich wieder in St. Ives bin...!

Visited whilst on holiday, once when friends visited, and then again the week later. Possibly the best fish and chips consumed for a long time !!

Was told about this chippy but to be honest although the portion I had was really big I found the chips greasy and I was glad I was in my car as I had some tissues to clean my hands fish was great

THE best fish and chip shop in the south west!! Perfect crispy chips and beautiful fresh fish!! A little off the beaten track but well worth having a look away from the usual touristy areas and much better value for money.

Came here last year and the fish and chips were superb so we came again this year.It's a bit out of the way (up the hill before the fire station, in an industrial estate) but it's well worth going if you like fish and chips.Not expensive either which is a bonus for seaside fish and chips.The place doesn't look overly great but I promise you won't be disappointed by the food.

We had these fish and chips on our last night on holiday and we were not disappointed! The order was cooked as we waited so couldn't have been fresher, the chips were absolutely delicious, really crispy and tasty. The portions were huge! We ordered 4 fish, 2 large chip portions, mushy peas and curry sauce. The portions of chips would have fed 6 people I think, we only used 1 1/2 at the most. Would definitely use again, really enjoyed them....

Not eaten inside here but have had take away on a few occasions. Very generous portions and lots of choice.

Visited, when staying locally. 3 of us had Cod 1 Fishcake. The batter was crisp , as were the chips, some would say to crisp, but they were to all of our likings. We did benefit by going at a busy time, and I tend to find this brings out the best in F&C shops, as both the fish and chips were freshly fried. However, I would definitely return

I live in St.Ives and since I found Sharkys I have been coming here on a regular basis, I think this is the best fish and chips in the area especially for quantity, quality and price.

I visited Sharkys last night after having to make a quick visit to St Ives. Decided to treat myself to cod, chips + mushy peas. OMG it was flaming handsome. My dog was hoping for a large treat but she didnt have much because i scoffed the lot. We will be back soon.

Returned for our second visit after being very impressed by the fish and chips,not just the taste but portion size.sadly this time we were very disappointed.the portion size was similar but seemed to be a tad swamped with batter bits.the fish was overdone and there was a lot of grease.we ate them in the car and luckily my husband placed a newspaper underneath and the grease had soaked through several pages.this is a real shame as the two visits couldn't have produced two such different offerings.

Been coming to Sharkeys since day one. Consistently good and regularly beyond Excellent .The kitch upstairs 'dining' room is simple but does the job especially fun for kids. Did a byo with friends and it was a good laugh. Remember its fish and chips at a fair price with generous portions. There's scope for this (upstairs) room and a more imaginative range of viable starters but again the basics are right.

Takeaways in town tend to give small tourist portions. The only option in past was John Becks, lovely chippy but on other side of town in Carbis Bay.Sharkys is in an industrial estate at top of town (next door is an overpriced pizza delivery place!) and is a welcome addition to takeway options where you can park easily.Freshly prepared and good meal deal on cod. Good service, nicely presented (in boxes rather than paper wrapped) and plenty to choose from. Only issue I have is cooking style provides a somewhat crisper chip than normal.

We have had Sharkys fish & chips quite a few times as we live locally. They are the best around, and now with the upstairs seating and very reasonable prices we will go more often. The staff are always very helpful too. Highly recommended.

We always come here, it is lovely, fresh and cooked to order. They even have a cafe now... All at a reasonable price too, can't imagine coming to St. Ives without eating their fish and chips at least once.

Probably the best fish and chips I have tasted. We were on holiday and wanted some fish and chips to take back to our holiday house. Saw sIgn at side of road advertising sharkys. Found it in edge of industrial estate - was a bit wary due to location but was pleasantly surprised. Delicious fish and chips and great service. Would highly recommend
