Shapla Ferring in Worthing

Use Shapla on a regular basis mainly for take aways and on the odd occasion to eat in. Left a review few months back saying portions had got very small, well I’m delighted to say things have improved and portions back to a generous size and quality still very good. I love their jalfrezi nice and spicy and meat always tender. Great to have my local Indian back to its best!!

This was our 3rd visit to this little gem. The restaurant is tucked out of the way in Ferring in a pretty location but difficult to find if you're not careful. The restaurant is small and cosy and doesn't have a licence so you need to take your own alcohol. A small off-licence is located almost next door if you have forgotten. Food is excellent; service is very good and the team do not rush or hassle you so you are able to enjoy the time there without being rushed to turn the table. Will definitely use this restaurant again and again.

This is the 3rd time we have been here the food and service is always very good, you take your on alcohol as they only sell soft drink but it does make the evening cheaper as not be over charged for drink, the only criticism I have is that when you order pomadoms they charge £3.50 for the pickles which they do not tell you about, never been charged in an Indian restaurant before

First time visiting and loved the restaurant. Beautiful decor, lovely atmosphere and the food and service were top notch. Will definitely be back.

We visited the Shapla on a Saturday night. As usual, the food was delicious and the staff were lovely and attentive. It wasn't busy, I'd say half full.. the noise level was absolutely dreadful. People were shouting to be heard. Not sure how this could be remedied but wouldn't like to visit when it's fully booked!! Also, we found the service a little rushed. As soon as we'd finished our starters, the mains were brought out. May go in the week instead, hopefully won't be so rushed and may be able to hear ourselves talk!

Had many meals over the last year both eating in and take aways. Food is good, yes it is noisy but a good atmosphere and lovely ambiance. I do feel the portions have got smaller, chicken jalfrezi not enough chicken so offering very good value for money. Will continue to use but may not be only curry house I use moving forward.

Impressed by this family business 🇮🇳 restaurant located in the heart of Ferring. Service was immaculate, food was delicious and the staff were very attentive making such a pleasant & lovely experience.

"Excellent" 6 /6 As always brilliant meet, great and seat on arrival. Smiles from the Shapla team are genuine and welcoming. Food for the four of us was good as always, hot, tasty and good portions. Shame that two customers were vaping at their tables with no concern for other diners but Shapla team were aware and reacted accordingly. BYOB make a meal out more affordable if only all restaurants did this as it makes the overall price ideal.

Having just moved to the area, we decided to order a takeaway from this restaurant. The order was placed on-line with a preferred delivery time given. The delivery arrived 15mins early which was brilliant for us. The food was hot, tasty, not greasy and can honestly say it was the best Indian takeaway we have had for a very long time. We are so pleased that we discovered this hidden gem, and would not be going anywhere else now for an Indian takeaway.

After my second visit since my last review I'm afraid I have to state this is the noisiest restaurant I have been to in this country. Last night it was unbearable. The restaurant is very small, tables packed tight. It needs acoustic suppressants. The food/service is of a very high standard but portions are small thus requiring side dishes if hungry. It is a stylishly decorated restaurant with easy parking and "bring your own bottle" makes it most certainly value for money if you can cope with the cacophony created by fellow diners.

A fabulous little Indian restaurant in the middle of Ferring. Parking out front. BYO bottle. Food was superb with great service. Full on a Thursday evening, so do book!

The biriyani is the best I’ve ever had. Sadly like many small restaurants there is no attention given acoustic treatment, lots of hard surfaces and crashing of plates means everyone ends up shouting to be heard. Too many tables crammed in, like eating at a table at Piccadilly Circus in rush hour.

Lovely restaurant, best curry I had for a long time, all dishes were really tasty, freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Service was great, the lady owner is extremely friendly and welcoming! Can’t wait to come back!

Delicious food Staff can’t do enough for you! Very attentive and kind Recommend it highly but book long in advance as extremely popular with people coming from all over ! Couple weeks in advance is good ! Also very small but I like it like that and extremely pretty deco thanks to the good taste of the owner We are lucky to live just doors away so pretty regular customers now Took my left over curry home and was just as good the next day !

Went here for an early evening meal. Absolutely wonderful. Just what Ferring needed. Staff were attentive and professional. Especially when they had to deal with one awkward customer. We will be back.

I booked Shapla for a Christmas party for 26 people. The staff were fantastic at accommodating such a large group and served everything we all ordered very efficiently. Everyone's meals were hot and delicious (also catering to specific dietary requirements) and we had a fantastic evening. The ability to BYOB is an added bonus and the menu is reasonably priced. All communication with Shapla has been warm, friendly and accommodating. I would have no hesitation in reccomending them and hope to go back again soon.

This was the first time my wife and I visited Shapla in Ferring. It has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and attentive and as for the smells from the kitchen as we entered - Mmmmmmm! The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented and as it is just a five minutes walk from home, we shall definitely be returning many times. Thank you Shapla.

We arranged a group meeting, there was 36 of us. We booked out the whole restaurant. Service, food & general ambiance was great. Well organised, not 1 problem. We pre-ordered most of it but they also accommodated spur of the moment friends. We will definitely return as a group but I’m sure as individuals too, everyone was impressed. I live locally and have used many times ( eat in & take away) So lucky to have this facility, a big well done to all the staff on duty that day x

Ordered a takeaway this evening online to be delivered at 6.20p.m. It arrived at - 6.20p.m. exactly. Delicious food. Only criticism was that my husband’s was a two chilli meal and he said it could have done with a touch more heat. Otherwise fab.

Visited here last night with my husband for friends retirement & the food & service was amazing. I had the lamb korma which I would put in my Top 5 of all times and the mushroom Rice just as good. Very very satisfied 😊

I attempted to have dinner at Shapla this evening with my deaf sister and her assistance dog. We were refused entry unless we made the dog wait outside. Whilst I have no reason not to believe the manager's statement that this was the first time they'd encountered an assistance dog, it was quite galling to hear him list every reason under the sun as to why we were not welcome. 'I need permission from health and safety' 'I need permission from my senior who's not here' 'It's not me, it's the other guests I have to think about' 'If you had booked, this would have been ok'. Despite showing him the dog's official passport, we were still denied a welcome and an opportunity to dine at Shapla. If you don't know, apologise, own your lack of understanding and do something about it - please don't try and fob us off. It's insulting, upsetting and uncalled for.

I eat a lot of Indian Food and this is as good as it gets after 3 visits! The restaurant just needs to be a lot bigger because it took a week to wait for a table even in midweek, unheard of for an Indian restaurant!! Beautifully decorated, perfect ambience if rather noisy (I'm finding this is the biggest drawback these days with restaurants). It's only been open around 4 months so time will tell if this high standard and quality will be maintained! I hope it does!

My husband and I had a takeaway meal. We were disappointed as we had seen raving reviews about how delicious and tasty the food was, and what good value for money it is. Our food was ok, but not the best. The naan bread was soggy. There was very little meat in my biryani. We didn't think it was good value to be honest. Although local, we'll find somewhere else next time.

Have been for a meal and had takeaway. Both times the service has been excellent and the food is the nicest curry we have had in a long time.

Been a regular visitor since it opened in June as well a getting take always. Often have the Jalfrezi which is nice and hot and last Saturday had a Shashlik with a jalfrezi source on the side. Absolutely loved it, served on a hot sizzling dish with tender chicken and onions might just of found my favourite new dish. Sheek Kebab as a starter is good also served up on nice sizzling dish. My wife has become a fan of the Rezala again nice and hot. Onion Bhaji are small which I like, plenty of them in a portion. All plates are hot which is a rare find these days and though it can be noisy as it gets very busy, can’t really fault Shapla a great addition to the village. It’s also BYO so what’s not too like!!!

Had a takeaway took over an hour then still had to wait when I went to pick it up but they were busy. Madras and chicken tikka was good. But also had onion baji these were the smallest I have ever had and the chicken shalik was disgusting the chicken was cold and very chewy had to check to see if was cooked. If I am ill tomorrow I will know the reason why. Shame I was recommended to try here.
