Awful…. Delivery driver was rude as he couldn’t find address (yet have plenty of other things delivered and no problems finding me!) Chips were cold, hard and could not eat and we ordered a kebab and a wrap… hardly any meat, again freezing cold and tasted awful! Will never order again

Terrible disappointing meal. The Lamb Jhalfrezi, Bombay Aloo and Cauliflower Bhazi all had the same or similar gloopy pour over sauce. The vegetables were a day over cooked to a soft mush. A real throw back bad old days of Indian restaurant “what do they know” serve ‘em anything approach to food. The papadum’s were OK.

Always order curry from here and would never go anywhere else! Every time I order lamb bhuna, lamb vindaloo and garlic naan and it’s always so flavourful. Not oily at all and you can really taste the fresh ingredients they use. I love the bag of onions/cucumber they provide and the yellow sauce. We even got a surprise free vegetable curry in our order tonight which was so kind, thank you and keep up the great work

We ordered a takeaway meal from them last week, we haven't used them before so was a little apprehensive in ordering but it arrived really quickly and I must admit it was the best indian takeaway I have ever had, we ordered the chicken tikka masala and chicken korma and the chicken was amazing so was the sauce, nan breads and poppdoms. I would definitely order from them again and I would highly recommend them.

At the moment, this is the second best Indian Cuisine in the Midsomer Norton/Radstock area. Only Spice Dunes in Farrington Gurney beats it for quality of food. However, Shapla's menu is more comprehensive with more choice on offer, and Shapla's prices are more reasonable also. Although I have tasted better food, this is excellent food for the money. Highly reccomended folks.

Visiting my son who lives in Radstock, we drove past this unassuming Indian/Bangladesh restaurant, looked at the menu and decided to give it a go. An excellent decision. Our host, a lovely lady named Zee, showed us to a table and took our order for drinks. We ordered 4 poppadoms and dips and they and the dips were delicious. My son is lactose intolerant and they kindly offered to cook his korma without milk - VERY impressed. My chicken pathia was as good as I’ve eaten and the two vegetable sides were huge along with the pilau rice. The restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol, so customers are invited to bring their own wines if they wish to. Considering we had a terrific feast of excellent food, the bill of £36 for both of us was very good value for money. I will definitely be returning to this small but charming family run restaurant again and suggest others do to.

Really disappointed with the main courses. Chicken sag- the chicken was chewy and the lamb rogan yosh chewy as well. The the popadoms were so stale they were even bendy! The naan bread was stone cold, hadn’t even been heated. I rang to complain about the food as I was utterly disappointed because usually the meals are fantastic. The solution was a free meal on our next visit, however I will not be returning to shapla.

Waiter was pleasant . Disappointed from the off . Popadoms and pickles terrible . I have never seen mango chutney that colour before ...tasted nothing like mango chutney ! . Just sweet red wet stuff . I suspect it was from a big cheap catering jar . Even the onions were dry and tasteless. Usually love the popadoms and pickles in Indian restaurants . Couldn’t eat any of the chutneys and the popadoms weren’t great either . Tasted like they’d been cooked a few days ago . Felt nervous about my main course ( chicken dupiaza) by now . I was right to feel nervous ...a tasteless bowl of gloopy nastiness . Yes , there was plenty of chicken in there , but as I now doubted the freshness and quality of the food , I didn’t eat any . Looked for some onions in my dupiaza to fill up on and there were 2 pieces of onion . The rice was also inedible as it was dry and hard and had obviously been cooked a few days/ weeks ago . I filled up on 2 diet cokes and some water . My partner did eat his food , but he was a good 6 pints of cider in . I should have known better . The restaurant was empty . No one came for a takeaway while we were there ! Didn’t want to make a fuss , so paid and left . The worst Indian meal I have ever not eaten !

Nothing special, I didn’t think the ingredients were of a particularly high quality and the sauces didn’t have a lot of flavour. If you are looking for a decent curry I can recommend Spice Dunes in nearby Farrington Gurney.

We were visiting the area on holiday and really didn’t fancy cooking so we decided on a takeaway. This place was recommended to us by our host. We ordered two starters, vegetable samosas and prawn puri, my puri was a little on the bland side which was disappointing. Then we ordered garlic chilli chicken masala and chicken bhuna dansak, my dansak didn’t have any lentils in it? The coconut rice was lovely and the star of the show? The garlic and cheese nann! They were amazing! A real treat. The service on collection was brilliant and they gave us free popadoms and dips, which was appreciated as a very nice gesture. I wouldn’t say no to this place in the future but would probably order differently.

Firstly, I have to say the food was really nice. Unfortunately the waiter (jeans and T shirt so not entirely sure) was not there to greet us when we arrived, another customer had to go and find him. We ordered some popadoms but once finished the used dishes sat there for over 10 minutes with no collection. Up to this point no drinks had been offered (you have to bring your own alcohol) but my partner wanted a coke. Once the meal had been eaten, we waited for at least another 10 minutes with no sight of the waiter so ended up going into the take away to pay. The waiter seemed to be running that too.

I have to admit I have not used this this establishment for a number of years and I know why. Indian food has moved on and I am afraid the quality of this food is struck in the 70s. The food was very bland and I frankly tested all the same apart from the colour of the individual dishes. I was very disappointed and my guests were underwhelmed. I will not be returning and I am passionate to always support local businesses so saddens me to give this review.

Don't want to be too hard on the place as it is fine for what it does. As per previous reviews its more of a takeaway than a restaurant, and provided you keep expectations in check serves up very reasonable food. Good friendly service. The restaurant is a bit small and grim - we were the only ones in and benefitted from a single fan heater pointing at our table! Got the impression food was assembled rather than cooked to order. However if you want a quick meal on the hoof its fine. No licence but you can pick up your booze from Lidl next door.

Food was good, very friendly staff, but just felt the resurant was more cafe like. Usually Indian restaurants have warm gentle lighting, and atmosphere. This was lacking. The room was smaller than expected, and the lighting made us feel get the food eaten and get of home. Being a takeaway it seemed the restaurant side is an after thought, bit like a back room utilisation. We would use the takeaway, which has good reviews, but would not arrange a night out meal there again

Good food, very reasonable prices and friendly staff.Whether eating at home or in the attached restaurant the food has always been good. I ordered a takeaway on Saturday for my mothers birthday and, if anything, I think the food has improved on the already very good standards. The quality is always good and judging by the quantity I can only assume we were given our own individual lamb in each dish such was the abundance of meat. One Madras, one Patia and one dansag with two pilau rice, two naans and a paratha all for under 30 quid and I couldn't fault any of them. Free poppadoms and two dips was also a very nice touch. As I live on Church Court in Midsomer Norton this is a very handy place for me and the odd occasions over the last five years that I have tried other local Indian eateries they just haven't come close in quality.Whether you're a local or just visiting the area I have no hesitation in recommending the Shapla.First class.

You have to manage your expectations sometimes. In this restaurant you won't get silver service, it doesn't have a Michelin star & there isn't a well stocked wine cellar. What you find is a small room adjacent to an Indian take away that seats approximately 18. It has the highest hygiene rating from the local authority, friendly staff, you have to take your own drinks & will eat excellent tasing food.We are regular patrons & haver neve had to cause to complain, on our most recent visit four of us had the following; pickles & 6 poppadoms, 4 starters, 4 mains, 2 side dishes & 3 nan breads. The total bill was a few pence short of £70, I think that is value for money. If you require a table on a Friday or Saturday evening it's best to make a reservation in advance.

The take away has an adjacent restaurant. The mistake we made was eating in the restaurant. The same guy was the restaurant waiter and the take away cashier ( clearly Multi tasking was not his strongpoint especially when you have to ask for a jug of water 3 times !! ). Having to clear your own table in a restaurant that seets 10 at a push and has no drinks licence is not my idea of a good night. Decor appalling, ventilation in restaurant is by way of leaving door open :-( . Food was OK bur better eaten as take away than in restaurant.....you have been warned....
