We got a takeaway recently from Shangri La. The lady behind the counter was so friendly and welcoming. We gave her my name and straight away she knew the order and confirmed it back to us! She was very chatty and helpful. The food didn’t take long either. It was ready within 15 mins of ordering. We ordered some Thai food which was very tasty! We will be ordering from them again!!!

Crab and sweetcorn soup with no crab but plenty of chicken in it. Smelt like it was barbecue soup. Special fried rice, that’s swimming in something not nice. Spent the redt of the night in the toilet. Save your money and buy a pot noodle if you must. Avoid this place

'Fawlty Towers' levels of rudeness, without the comedy. After 10 visits and giving huge amounts of benefit of doubts, enough is enough. Having the lady who serves behind the counter ( once again ) turn her back and go into the kitchen whilst i am mid-sentence, is totally rude and unacceptable. Also, now i am cross enough to mention it... what normal, professionally run high street retail outlet in 2024 doesn't take card payments, only cash? Receipts aren't given either. I'm not saying they are up to something but [ redacted on legal advice ]

Not the best Chinese takeaway I've had in Guildford but definitely not the worst either. Location itself is very run down but food was ready to collect in less than 10 minutes

Food was all burnt and cold Lemon chicken was hard and not nice to chew. We ask for refund on 2 items and they said they would but week later we have still not received it. Very poor customer service and food Will not be buying from them again

We ordered food from this place to eat at home because it seemed like a good option, also to try something different. We practically live nearby and had some house specialties, a fried rice, roast duck with roast Chinese pork and fried rice, roast Chinese pork with fried rice in BBQ sauce. Not only did we wait about 20 minutes longer than the time we were supposed to pick up the food, but bad service, arrogant and rude staff if it wasn't for the fact that when we got home the food had a peculiar smell but we didn't give it much thought because we were convinced it was the mixture of the various spices and sauces used. Two hours after we finished eating the food, my wife, my two children and I started to feel sick and the children vomited everything, while my wife and I had severe stomach pains and diarrhoea which lasted practically all night and half of the next day. The food poisoned us all. I went back to talk to someone and tell them about it and not only was I not listened to, but I was also treated badly because according to them it was not possible that I had been sick from eating rice and meat. When I left the place I managed to take a picture of the back of their takeaway and found myself in a filthy, dirty place where I don't think anyone has ever cleaned or thrown anything away. Even the pots that are used for cooking are left outside and not well looked after, how disgusting. I think it is shameful that a business that sells take-away food is left in such filthy and disgusting conditions. I strongly advise everyone never to go there again because they are filthy and if you are lucky you get poisoned and spend the night in the bathroom with vomiting and diarrhoea or you can even end up in hospital.

Probably the most revolting Chinese take-away I have ever had - sauces were thick, gloopy and tasteless -sweet and sour was huge donut sized lumps which was 90% batter - disgusting - service was rude and ... they only take cash - I won't be back again anytime soon

Key Lesson One: If you order 'Delivery' on-line, do not assume your order is being processed. Phone up and check. Key Lesson Two: Be prepared to be very clear and robust in response to some never-to-be-forgotten customer service.

I'm oriental so I know how good their foods... best in town, the lady? She is great best to just order your food and be polite, great foods what matters most to me 😋

I quite often grab something small from here as I work just up the road and can't say I've ever had a bad bit of food from here! I like a lot of others first found the lady rude but after a couple of more visits I thinks she's more quirky and maybe gets lost in translation a bit

Had Singapore Rice Noodles. Portion size was good. Tasty. Cheerful and friendly staff.

Food and price was very good. Service on phone and at counter was great. Messed up with part of my order..Sweet and sour chicken balls turned out to be king prawn. Fortunately my family and I love both. Food quality was very good indeed. Would i use again?... yes. For now at least. My usual go to has put prices up and dropped the ball on quality. Lets see where Shangri La takes me.

I ve be eating Chinese with these people for a number of years .the portions ate more than you would get in other Chinese shops .I know they have 2 other shops that are striving bussiness and they have been in trade for over 20 years there premises are allways clean and over the oast 10 years have been given 5 stars .there food is out this world.they cater for all types if people ie vegan allergies etc I am pleased with what I get don't take my word for it try them .buy the way the chicken balls are better when crispy batter let them know next time you order .have a great day and keep safe .

Absolutely terrible, ruined an otherwise perfect 26th wedding anniversary. We have been customers for over 5 years, but tonight the food was awful. Shredded beef was welded together in solid lumps, Lemon chicken was just raw batter inside & hardly any chicken ( totally inedible) and the lemon sauce was just pure lemon juice and water. Everything was cold and unpleasant. They have lost our business today. Save your money and shop elsewhere unless you want to be disappointed. Thank you to the owner for proving my point by replying to my review with two words "Talk Nonsense "! Appalling customer relations. The camera doesn't lie and neither do I. TERRIBLE FOOD.

I used to rate Shangri la as the best in Guildford now without a doubt I’d say it’s the worst. The food is just about edible depending on how hungry you are and the woman on the phone/ behind the counter is rude to the point it’s a joke…. I actually called her out on it and her reply was “go away then”. It’s a real shame cuz I’d hate to see it go to waste but I would avoid it at all cost…. Even if they start taking card

I didn't even get to order, the lady answered the phone with " hold on... " Then after a 2 minute wait in silence she said " you'll have to wait, busy!! " To which I replied don't worry and went elsewhere. As front of house she is SO rude and it's totally unnecessary. Why not employ someone to enhance your business not totally run it into the ground. Shame because this is my local takeaway, and it's not the first time the lady on the counter has been rude. A few years ago I went to pick up a takeaway.. I had just been to aldi and had a small bag of shopping, I picked up the takeaway and put the Aldi bag on the counter so I could get my wallet from my pocket, the lady behind the counter shouted at me NOT to put my bag on the counter and proceeded to knock it on the floor. Do yourself a favour and give someone more deserving your hard earned cash..

The woman behind the counter is one of the most rudest people I've ever met! She was very abrupt to all the customers in front of me, just threw my order on the counter without any words. If she doesn't like English people so much then why work in this business! Food wasn't great.NEVER AGAIN!!!! Strongly recommended Mings on Aldershot Road.

Great food with reasonable price! Nice and super clean open kitchen had selection of crispy duck, chilli beef, squid with chilli, lemon chicken, beef with black bean sauce , hong kong style chicken, mushroom rice, prawn crackers, beef chow mein was tasty and the service was great. Really lovely food, a great Chinese restaurant at the heart of the Burpham community. That beef Szechwan and deep fried shredded chicken and chilli is particularly good. I like the lady behind the counter she gives me free fortune cookies :)

Food was very good apart from my rice which was only just warm

Ordered a wide range of dishes. Beef, chicken, pork. Use the same sauces in all their dishes. Couldn't tell the difference between their chilli dishes and the non-chilli sauce based dishes. Pork balls were nice though.

used quite a few times and occasionally they have forgotten a dish. this time order complete with free prawn crackers. disappointed with the chicken and cashew dish it was full of sliced cucumber! odd combination. the beef in hot chilli sauce was not hot all tasted pretty bland. and small portion sizes

Always had good service and great meals with quick service, have never had problems and (with exceptions of busy evenings) served with a smile and even, sometimes, and fortune cookie!

Fabulous takeaway food - Thai and Chinese dishes from various taste regions of Asia, always served with a cheery smile. (British dishes are also available for the less adventurous eaters!) Portions are always generous (we often have enough to make a light lunch/snack the next day) and waiting time is short, especially if you have phoned your order in ahead of collection. Prices are also very reasonable, so very good value for money. We heartily recommend this super little Asian food outlet.... one of our most favourite takeaways. One of the worst takeaways I've tasted.. Curries were full of oil and the chicken was like chewing crunchy rubber. The worst quality meat you could imagine! All of our meal was binned. Phoned the shop and they didn't offer any replacement. The only thing we got was a sorry and to try something different next time. Sorry doesn't make up for the amount of money spent and our empty stomachs!

Best mid-range Chinese there is. Everything was Dayycent except the Duck. Tasted great but if you don't ask for the Hoi Sin sauce they won't give it, nor will they give you you spring onions or cucumber, so remember to ask for it and It'll be Dayycent.

Just awful, much more greasy than a standard Chinese takeaway and my chowmein tasted disgusting! I think it was cooked in burnt oil or something but was truly revolting. 2 bad experiences in a row mean I'm never going back. I actually ended up throwing up after my last visit and I have a pretty strong stomach so it's got to be bad!!! Also what's the lady on the counters bloody problem? She's been rude to me on both visits. Zero Stars. P.s. Has no card machine and prepare to get shouted at for asking where the nearest cash point is...

Food is better than average, but they often get the order wrong and you'll never get a sincere apology. Use the Mandarin at the top of town for best Chinese food and service. The Shangri-La lack any awareness of the importance of Customer Service and I have never been spoken to so rudely when politely raising a complaint.

We feel like family, the staff are more like friends who cook great food! Love this place!
