The food tasted okay, but I felt quite unwell afterward. Might have been something I ate. Hope it was just a one-off, but I won’t be returning.

The fish head is delicious, and the pepper fried meat is also good.

Agree with the ratings on it being a fantastic place. We ordered an assortment of soups, appetizers, and entrees - all were delicious, hot, freshly prepared. A prior review said best in the UK; it may be the best I’ve had ever. Highly recommend.

The meat is generous. The scallion oil noodles are delicious. The service attitude is very good. The spicy pepper belly rice is also delicious.

It’s not very often I walk into a Chinese restaurant and walk out with a 5 ⭐️ review! Shanghai Family delivers where it really counts: QUALITY & FLAVOUR! Every dish was exceptional. I highly recommend dining here for an extensive menu offering all the classics from xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and pork belly to marinated whelks and braised beef noodle soup. Check it out! Shanghai Family won’t disappoint.

It is not easy to eat xiaolongbao in the UK, nor is it easy to eat shengjianbao. It is even more difficult to eat xiaolongbao and shengjianbao at the same time. There are also whale ocean projection lights around, which is quite atmospheric.

Really tasty food and super friendly service! Everything we ordered had that authentic Shanghai flavour, especially loved the 红烧肉（braised pork belly）and 小笼包（xiao long bao）. The staff were really welcoming and the place feels cozy and clean, made me felt a sense of home. You can tell they put effort into the food and experience. Will definitely come back again!

An absolute gem in the heart of London! We had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful Shanghai restaurant and, quite honestly, it was nothing short of spectacular. The Shanghai Chow Mein was simply divine – perfectly cooked noodles with a delicate balance of savoury and umami flavours that transported us straight to the streets of Shanghai. The dumplings, too, were exquisite; silky wrappers with juicy, flavourful fillings that melted in the mouth. The atmosphere was warm and authentic, with attentive service that made us feel truly welcomed. Every bite was a reminder of why Shanghai cuisine holds such a special place in the culinary world. Hands down the best Shanghai food we’ve had in London – an absolute must for anyone craving genuine, beautifully executed dishes. We can’t wait to return!

Authentic great food and worth try

The first Chinese restaurant I visited in London. It has very authentic Shanghai flavors. Those who like Xiaolongbao and sweet and sour pork ribs should not miss this place.

I came here specifically to eat the stir-fried bamboo shoots with shepherd’s purse. I didn’t remember to take pictures until after I finished eating. Hahaha, it’s so good.

Service was friendly and efficient and the food was very good (especially the soup dumplings and Shanghai Chow Mein!!)! Would recommend if you’re in the area!

It takes 4 minutes to walk from the British Museum to this Shanghai restaurant (Shanghai Renjia). To relieve my nostalgia, I ordered Xiao Long Bao and Shanghai Pan-fried Bao. The soup of Xiao Long Bao was delicious and the Pan-fried Bao was also good. They were freshly made. I also ordered Stir-fried Pork with Chili and Mapo Tofu🌶️. The taste was just right and salty. It is a good Chinese food recommendation👍

I ordered the Shanghai soup dumplings and pan-fried buns — both were incredibly authentic! The dumplings were juicy with thin skins, and the pan-fried buns were crispy outside and tender inside. The service was friendly and the place was clean and cozy. Highly recommend for anyone craving true Shanghai flavors!

It was my first time here and I didn’t expect the food to be so delicious. Authentic pan-fried and delicious dishes, the children especially like the fried rice cakes. The dishes are particularly rich, and various flavors of chicken, duck, and fish can be found here. The dining environment is unique, and the surrounding walls change with different pictures, giving people an immersive feeling. Will come again next time.

Can’t recommend the seasonal veggie dishes more - yes they’re more expensive than elsewhere but the ingredients are so fresh and authentic, not local variant of the same veggies. As someone who misses them so much from home I think they worth every penny. We finished the braised pork and celtus stem so quickly so didn’t even get the photos lol… The only regret was that we couldn’t eat more

As someone who used to live in Shanghai I was excited to learn about this place, and it did not disappoint. The Xiaolongbaos are among the best I've had outside of China and decently priced for their quality. I also enjoyed the Sheng Jian Baos (Shanghai style bread dumplings) which are rather hard to get by in the UK.
