Don't always do Dishoom - check out this wonderful place too. Lovely home cooked and fresh food and the best chicken tikka masala I've tried and I'm not even a big fan of that dish in general but here it's scrumptious with a lip smacking tasty rich sauce, there's lots of delicious food all round. I really liked all the dishes and ate all the curries before taking puctures they were that good! Excellent quality meat and superb service, wonderful atmosphere and I'm coming back next time I'm in the St Pancras area. Highly recommended!

Its bang opposite the Kings cross railway station, and a beautiful view of the Kingscross Churches tower and clock can be seen as the backdrop. The road is lined with eateries, luggage storage, souvenir shops owned by expatriates from Bangladesh, PoKJ, and Kashmir.. They all are pretty connected with their roots and surprisingly very proud of their Hindu roots. A taxi driver I met was proud of the fact that he had origins from a place where the vast majority of the erstwhile population was Hindus. That apart Tajmahal is just a front to sell British kitsch that goes in the name of Indian food. It has little relation with Indian spices. Except for Nans the other dishes are actually fabricated in the UK.. The taste is bland for the Indian palate, its a very diluted version of Indian meals. Almost tastes sweet.. But that's the closest you will come to South Asian food.. Would rate the food as just palatable. Go if you're really hungry..

Overpriced and food is not good

I would like to say that this is the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten, but sadly we didn’t get the chance to try it! They seem very intent on getting you into the restaurant (and there are three Indian restaurants in a row vying for your business), but once we were in and seated they ignored us, even though there were four waiters standing around (and one outside hustling more people in). We left after waiting for ten minutes - we didn’t even get to order a drink.

A good Indian restaurant not far from Kings Cross station. I really enjoyed the chicken chilli garlic and the Australian wines.

I had a biryani there.it never tasted like biryani and some chicken pieces were not fully cooked.

Worst service and food, the taste was not good at all, the waiter had this attitude on his face, we had to ask 3-4 times for salt and he took 15 minutes for that.Wont recommend this restaurant at all.

We wanted to have Indian cuisine while in London as we heard Indian food is excellent in England. It did not disappoint, our server was attentive and the food was delicious. It was a treat to eat here and it was a walking distance to our hotel not to mention it is a stone throw away from the Harry Potter store where you can see the half cart Photo Booth. Portions are a little small though but the quality of food was amazing so the cost and amount of food is justifiable.

I visited here with one my Board members. We were going to go for Chinese food but than decided to try this restaurant. The restaurant is medium sized. Has a nice ambiance to it. It is accessible for parents with pushchairs and wheelchair users. The menu wasn’t packed with unnecessary dishes and was easy to follow. We ordered mango lassi which was more bitter than sweet but okay enough to quench our thirst. I ordered a vegetable thali and fried fish for myself and Taj Mahal Special Thali for her. My thali included sag aloo, dahl, cabbage baaji, rice, naan, raita, samosa and onion baaji. Her thali had Onion bhajee, vegetable samosa, butter chicken, lamb rogon, goan fish curry, raitha, rice and naan. The food was good but I have eaten better elsewhere. The fried fish tikka, butter chicken, naan and dahl were the best. I would recommend this place if you are passing through Kings Cross and feel like having Indian food.

The food was average but the service was pathetic (especially the guy who takes order in full black uniform). I went their with family and now regret on my decision. Please avoid this restaurant.

Worst service and portion size ever eaten

Not authentic. Reviews likely to be fake. Run by bangladeshis actually. Could not get even a basic simple dish right..Aloo Jeera. A potato stir fried with minimum oil and cumin seeds without gravy. Uploading pic so at least Indian people are not misled.

Ordered the chicken biryani and it was meh. Flavours were okay but I missed some nuts or maybe some sultanas,... The rice and chicken was also quite dry, luckily we got free raitha with it. It satisfied my biryani craving but it could be MUCH better. It tasted like it was just some spiced rice with little pieces of chicken (breast?) and I know biryani can be much more than that :)) I do wanna try their other dishes though, i have not lost faith!!

What a great find in Kings Cross. There are lots of Indian restaurants around (including two next door) but the quality is generally pretty poor…but the Taj Mahal blows them away. The service was terrific and the food lovely. Nice menu, clean, modern and attentive staff. A definite recommendation for me. 👍

The food was great, but I was annoyed to discover that I had been charged £4.95 for my small glass of post mix soda water. When I questioned it he just smiled at me. I’m never going back & neither will my co-workers from across the road. I later told the manager who didn’t seem to care.

Ordered Chicken Dopiaza, Dahl and something with aubergine as well as saffron rice, naans and poppadoms. All excellent, especially the Dopiaza, highly recommended. If I'm very picky I would say the Dahl was less creamy than it could have been, but it didn't lack flavour, so still worth the money. Nice friendly staff, typical Indian restaurant decor. All in all well worth the money.
