Shamraat in West Lancashire

used to be alot better here. food turned up cold and delivery driver dropped it while holding the bag weird. wasn't just that delivery though. last couple have been poor

food came very late. poppadoms were soggy,meat in thali starter was dry as a bone. food arrived barely warm. very disappointed.

The Food was amazing, the older gentleman that delivered the food was so polite that he made the meal even more enjoyable. Definitely buy again and couldn’t recommend the Shamraat enough

Had a very nice meal. Poppadoms were good and mains were tasty also. Portions quite generous and prices reasonable. Would go again when in Ormskirk.

Ordered at 619pm. Food arrived at 832pm after being chased for an update. The estimated time was 740 to 800pm. The order was incomplete due to a missing item which had been paid for. Food, when received was really good, however nearly 2 and a quarter hours wait time is unacceptable. Very disappointed.

The food was good but it took almost 2 hours to arrive. We appreciate it was a Saturday night but it would have been good to have been kept informed. We ordered a meat thali and veggie thali and enjoyed all of it. Would order again and hope that it wouldn’t be such a long wait next time.

We dined at Shamraat while visiting our daughter who is at university. The poppadom starters were lovely and crisp and the accompanying dips were tasty and plentiful. We all had different mains and all three of us were extremely satisfied. My chicken jalfrezi was spicy as ordered and absolutely delicious. We will definitely return when back in the area, highly recommended.

Always lovely food here and the staff are really friendly. Try the meat thali, a massive plate of food with starters, 3 curries, rice & naan all together. Nice.

i was walking by went in to use toilet staff was very rude and said i couldnt go in but let my friend who is a girl use the toilet

Thought we would give them a chance to redeem themselves after the very disappointing meal we had previously, The meals this time were really nice, chicken vindaloo was full of flavour with plenty of chicken and sauce, the nann bread cooked to my liking delicious poppadoms nice and crisp along with the onion bahgi,my wife had chicken biriyani which was excellent covered with a light egg pancake and curry sauce, service was very good, drinks a little expensive £7 50 for 2 bottles of J20, We will definitely be returning now especially since easy parking is available across the road.

The old man delivery driver with the small red car (ex Councillor) has too much to say. Very rude and inappropriate comments every time he's been. Maybe he should get a job he enjoys?

Actually very good. The curry I had was really good and superior to a local competitor more highly rated than this place. Don't judge a book by the cover. Come here and try the curry. I think it's very good.

Food was an hour early and cold, poppadoms were stale and the chicken in the meals tasted weird ! We have always ordered from Shanrat for years and it's always been lovely but tonight was a huge let down ! We ordered it for 7pm and it arrived at 6.05pm we were not ready for our food and explained to the delivery driver that it was ordered for 7pm but he said they were so busy that we would need to just accept it ! Not very happy but as we had already paid on just eat we accepted the order and sat down to eat ! What a huge disappointment ! We will NEVER order from here again! Absolute SHAMBLES !! Sort yourselves out !

The food was warm not hot but very tasty - food arrived 15 minutes late. Really good that they do chicken nuggets for a fussy 11 year old too!

Please don't waste you money with this place . Staff very rude food disgusting ,watery curry . Promised to replace a bad meal and failed to deliver . If there was a no star I would have chosen it .

I ordered chicken tikka masala. I was really looking forward to it. When it arrived I thought the sauce looked like a Baltic or something. It was nothing like chicken tikka masala. It wasn’t creamy nor tasted of coconut. They either sent me the wrong sauce was or it was just very bad. Will not order again.

Although the order was 15 mins late, the restaurant rang and apologised to let us know. Great customer service! Thank you

Food was excellent speedy delivery

We ordered a take away on line at 4:30 (appreciate it only opens at 5:00pm) we received our food at 6:15. Popadoms we’re chewy & stale. Mixed starter, cold, greasy, pale looking, didn’t taste good. Main course lamb curry, chicken tikka & Nan bread, All cold, not nice taste very very disappointing.

I don’t leave reviews but this was so good, King Prawn Puri is delicious and the prawns are butterflied which is a rarity! Chicken Shashlik.. full of flavour and the chicken is amazing quality.

Given three stars as we did receive an apology for being 40 mins late.

Wrong naan bread and it was burned :(

The worst restaurant and Indian I've ever eaten in. The chicken for both dishes was overcooked and brown/pink in colour. The taste was absolutely disgusting. The staff were rude, gave us dirty looks and refused to give any discount even when they took the food back to the kitchen. Left the restaurant starving . Poor customer service would not recommend it to anyone. Really gone downhill and horrible staff members

I've travelled around India and love Indian food. I've had one dish that was on par with what I had tonight. That was 8 yrs ago. Food is amazing. Homely friendly staff. Hidden gem.

Asked for vindaloo hot , not hot at all

First time there, we were served by Dean he was very friendly he provided us with reading glasses to read the menu as we'd both forgot ours. A Great selection of dishes the food which was excellent, well presented and large portions as well. Highly recommended We will definitely be back.

We have been going to the Shamraat for a while now and have loved the food, but like the previous review, we too witnessed a member of staff coughing up loudly in the kitchen several weeks ago and it was very off putting. However, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back again, but sadly the food is not as good as it used to be and secondly the waiter behind the bar is very unfriendly and never smiles, even though we have been going there a long time and we always try to be friendly towards him. We just don’t feel valued and sadly, we will not be going back.

Foods not bad but guy wretching ,coughing and spitting in bin in full view of customers is not a good advertirsment for the business.my partner could not eat her meal after this constant disgusting behaviour.Rank.

In my opinion this is the best Indian food in the Ormskirk and Burscough area

We tasted chiken biriyani the taste is below average.

I tasted chicken biryani but the food was worst, below the average, I never had like this biryani in my life, wasted my money by visiting shamraat, it will be my first and last visit to shamraat.

One of the hidden gems of Ormskirk, near the centre. The staff is very friendly and the food is amazing.

We keep going back. Excellent staff. The food is always top quality and the menu is regularly refreshed. I like to try something different each time and I've not been disappointed yet. Highly recommended.

I've been an avid fan of Shamraat for ages, ages! But last night was a real let down. Ordered at 5:45 and it was delivered at 7:10. Food was cold, no where near the normal standard. The mushroom rice was really greasy and the poppadoms were chewy. It was a real let down. Absolutely gutted that the standard wasn't as usual.

Last time we ordered and it didnt turn up for hours and they advised us to order in advance so this time we ordered a meal for 7:40pm, arrived and left outside at 6:15pm before we were even home. Obviously cold by the time we got to it and pretty disgusting. Called and spoke to the "owner" who said well it's an estimated time??? no apology. I asked who to complain to and he laughed and said "I'm the owner so who you gonna complain to?" again no offer to make things right. I said ok you're not going to do anything so I'll tell others to watch out on google at which point he started shouting and swearing at me. Life's too short to have to put up with that arrogance and obviously someone with zero customer service skills. If that's the owner and standard of customer care then I'd advise everyone to AVOID at all costs. Plenty of very nice indians around who actually care about their customers. Disgusting.

First time I've ordered from here very nice food service great

Keep giving this restaurant a chance but they blow it every time. This visit got charged £64 which should have been £52. Food is good but i will not be coming back.

Brilliant food although a little shy on the paneer. Only 4 small pieces in the saag paneer. Will definitely order from here again though.

Really unsatisfactory experience. Went in and ask for a starter with a drink. Early doors at 5pm but was told its not possible. Too busy. Previous lady told me that she would not service a starter only. I had to eat 4 courses. Frankly this business doesn't require custom. Filthy dirty toilets too. One may ask what's the kitchen like? I shall report to environment health for their attention. Thank-you.

It was New Year so guess 30 min was not bad, so would order again.

We ordered 2 x Vindaloo curry sauce and 1 x Madras. We received just under 2 x curry sauces in total. Plus two poor naans Why be mean and cheat us, all we wanted was curry to help our left over turkey! There is simply no need to try to rip people off. The curry was only average to be honest also, but the portion size was done on purpose.

The food is below average and expensive. The toilets are untidy and dirty. The overall experience was bad. The briyani lacked any flavor and was bland.

Cold and horrible will not be ordering again

We attempted to order three meals and assorted extras. The justeat app said there was a problem and to retry ordering. We decided to make other arrangements. We ate and and settled down to watch tv. Over an hour later than the original delivery time. The meal arrived, it was incorrect with only one meal being delivered correctly. This seems to be a problem with the justeat app and we’re hugely disappointed as the app got our order wrong. Took our money off our card, then got delivered over a hour late and incorrect to boot. Very poor.

The food tonight was burnt, a half portion because we ordered 2 meals the same, too hot for a bhuna, and flavourless. I would have given a 0 had there have been an option.

We usually love the Shamraat but tonight was possibly the worst Indian meal we ever had. As soon as they knew we were vegan/vegetarian it was like they gave up and just lobbed a load of mush in trays. The tarka dahl, usually my absolute favourite, was tasteless. The vegetables in fal sauce comprised of onions in tomato puree with lots of chilli. It was bitter and inedible. The sides were ok. The service was good but the one guy seeing to the whole restaurant seemed stressed and rushed off his feet. We won't be going back for a long while.

My friend was unable to eat his due to the size of the vegetables, overpowing what little sauce there was, the nan breads had very little inside, we at first thought our keema nan's where completely empty till we found a tiny little piece in the bottom,l don't think I will be ordering again.

Requested changes to set menu. Order accepted. Menu came as advertised after 2 hours. First time we ordered was superb, this time service was pretty poor (although food still tasty of what we ate)

The meals were runny/watery and lacked flavour. Disappointing.

We have had many lovely meals here over the past 20 years or more but after tonight's experience there won't be many more, service was very good but food quality was very poor chicken madras had plenty of meat in a gravy of flavourless slop without sign of onion, pepper nothing,chicken tikka dupiaza had chicken in a salty vegetable mush stogy rice poor onion bhagi, excellent plain nann bread very disappointing

Didn't get what was ordered, recieved something else without being notified this wasn't possible, called restaurant to ask for what was ordered and was told this wasn't possible, so asked for a refund as we didnt get what we ordered and was told this wasn't possible i asked to make a formal complaint and was hung up on. Awful service, having to order from somewhere else.

Really like the shamratt but only ordered from them three times first two were excellent couldn’t fault it at all but last time can’t explain it just didn’t taste as good but was still very nice probably just me getting used to it or new chef? Lol anyway was good and always delivered on time would recommend

Never been to Shamraat before......but having moved nearer to Ormskirk, decided to try it and WOW...fantastic food that is a throw back to 'properr curries' of yesterday...all cooked beautifully and naan bread 'not burned' which is a rarety these days. Been 3 times in 2 weeks and tried different meals...all lovelly..and fantastic service and lovely staff. My wife and I love this little gem,

The curry I ordered said in the it was hot with chilli's but it was very bland and mild so bad description. Very powder tasting aswell. Not great

We ordered take out as we were due to be away for the weekend and would have nothing in the house on our return. We rang an order through 2 days in advance for delivery at 5:30, at 5:45 I rang and was told the order would be 10 mins. At 6 I rang again and was told the order would be another 10 minutes as the order was not actually passed through to the kitchen when I originally rang it through. (Which makes me doubt how they intended to have it cooked and delivered in 10 mins when I rang the first time!) once the order actually arrived the food was delicious, generous portions and reasonably priced. Would recommend and use again but hope they organise themselves and the ordering system a bit better.

Consistently brilliant food from the Shamraat whether we order for two or a group of 8. Always hot and always really tasty. The Dansak is just amazing! Really tender meat and flavourful food.
