Went for the first time today on recommendation. Was not disappointed. We had the 12 course Sunday special all of which was delicious. Great flavours and great value for money. Couldn't eat it all so the staff gave us containers to bring it home. The staff are lovely and really looked after us. Will return. Just a note if booking online at the moment the restaurant does not open till 4pm on a Sunday but earlier slots still showing up on the booking form.

Delicious fresh food. The 3 course early bird set menu is really varied and the portions are full sized . The waiters are very attentive. The owner/manager greets you and says goodbye when you leave. You feel valued as a customer. The food is just amazing

Went yesterday, early evening, with family members (5) and we all agree that the meals were fantastic and competitively priced. Staff were exceptional, patient and courteous all in a very nice atmosphere. Highly recommend and will visit again. Thank you RIVAJ !

One of the best Restaurants in Wigan

Been again tonight and all I can say is wow!!! The food from starters to mains absolutely amazing. The lamb chops are devine. Never before have i had such tasty amazing lamb chops. The service was amazing and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Bonus that they offered 25% off monday to thursday so cost only £56 for a 3 course meal with drinks! Not worth cooking for that. Well done Rivaj. Will definitely be back ASAP

Order placed for home delivery, it came to nearly £60 for three starters and mains. initially told it would be with us in approx 50-95 minutes. As it neared the delivery time, I then got a notification apologising about a delay and the time had been shifted by another 30 mins. Same thing happened again, making its arrival 1 hour after the initial expected delivery time. The food arrived, some was hot, some lukewarm, but all of the boxes covered in curry and grease from one of the mains leaking. Food was ok, all tasted as it should. Was not impressed to find bits of shell and black veins in the prawns of two of the starters, was also a little under seasoned. Have eaten in the restaurant and found the food better than the takeaway option.

Booked at table for two for 7:45 and arrived at 7:30 and confirmed the time and booking with the staff. By 8:15 we still hadnt been seated despite everyone else who arrived after us being seated at a table. When i queried when we would be seated i was told they would get us a table as soon as one was free. So at 8:30 we still hadnt been seated, there was nobody else waiting and after asking again i was told they would get us in as soon as they could. At 8:45 i saw the manager and asked him why we hadnt been seated to which he appologised and asked his staff to seat us... which again didnt happen. We finally gave up at this point and left. An utter shambles of a place.. Very badly managed and an incredibly poor experience. We wont be returning.....

Went here for Mother’s Day, very busy and had to wait for food but tasted good when it arrived. A lovely touch when leaving for all mothers where handed a gift bag. Inside a rose, chocolate, card and voucher for 10% off next visit how thoughtful. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Warm welcome. Friendly and helpful service - explained all the dishes and made recommendations. We had the mixed kebab sizzler and it was fantastic. Gave us a doggie bag to take the leftovers home. Kingfisher beer was perfect with my lamb curry 🥵

Very extensive menu. Staff very welcoming and friendly from arrival to departure with lots of smiles. The food was delicious and didn’t have to wait too long between courses.

Went here last night in a party of 19 for a 21st birthday. Some people ordered a banquet style other's ordered individually. I was really impressed with both the service and the food. It was confusing with the amount of people having banquet and others not and they really tried to service and accomadate all this. The food quality really was good and I was impressed with both food and service. Well done rivaj. Would definitely be going back

Ist time at the rivaj for me family have been hear before and we were treated very well excellent service friendly staff. Food was excellent there was 15 family members who all had different meals and enjoyed them all. The staff were also kind enough to ring me back to see if we had found our lost keys, genuine careing business owners would highly recommend

Visited on Sunday after not going for some time . The place is even better than it was when we used to come and it was good then . Food is excellent as is the service and the decor . Could not fault the place one bit .

Visited on 6th Jan for the 1st time for a birthday meal with family, 4 of us. Seated quickly, food and service was excellent. We all had a very enjoyable night and have all said we will be returning.

Been going a few years now, always good, however last few times have been overcharged on bill by quite a bit -I advise always check your bill. Had the Boxing Day buffet (minimum of 2 ppl). Pitiful amount in finger dip bowls to be shared by 2. Had banquet before and portions, though not massive were bigger than today’s. Luckily other members of party had more than they could eat so had some of theirs too. Probably won’t go again do to repeated overcharging.

Have to say, as a regular customer to Rivaj, I’m always amazed by the level of service that we receive and the quality of the food. Nothing is ever too much trouble. We visited on Christmas Day, first time eating out on Christmas Day. The restaurant was full to capacity but level of service as fabulous as ever. Always excellent service and food

A very awful and terrible experience at this place. The staff and the manager are very rude and arrogant. They cant wait to take your money without giving a good dining experience. Most of the staff have poor English and it takes ages to get your food or starters and drinks. The waiters seem to fall out between themselves quite a lot. There is a big gap between starters and mains to obviously make you buy more drinks. No one mentions food allergies but fortunately we are ok with that. The food wasn't spectacular to be honest had better takeaways if I am honest. Wouldn't recommend and won't be visiting again... Thomas and family..

Lovely place to eat and lovely staff. We had a few young children with us and the staff were great with them and welcoming too. We have been to a few places in the past that have made us feel like an inconvenience for having young children with us, I can state for a fact that the Rivaj is not that. The food was top notch as was the service. We will be back in the future. Thank you to all the staff at the Rivaj for such a pleasant experience.

We ordered Achari, Rogan, and Handi, with sabzi bhaji, bhindi bhaji, and matar paneer. Yet they all looked the same. That generic orange brown onion tomato gravy that gets served out to unwitting people across the UK. The Handi had mange touts in it, which had changed the flavour of the dish. I have never come across a Handi with mange touts in it. The first iteration of matar paneer didn't actually have any paneer in it, and its replacement only had about 6 pieces in it. The roti, where not like roti at all. While the Achari had a nice flavour to it, it wasn't pickle spiced enough, and was overshadowed by the generic sauce. Overall it's a real shame and a real disappointment as last time I came here it was okay. I won't be back. There are much better places around, for much better prices (I hope, otherwise it's a long travel for a good curry).

What an amazing place. My first trip here with a friend. Such a warm welcome and a beautiful, tranquil environment. Extremely pleasant and attentive staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. The food is outstanding. We were unrushed and thoroughly enjoyed a lovely relaxing experience. I cannot wait to bring my family back here. What an absolutely wonderful dining experience. We ordered yesterday at 6.20 the food arrived at 7.00 samoas wasn't cooked and cold. The onion bahji was also cold. Had to put the starters and main course which was wraps and chips in the oven. Very disappointed ☹️

I have personally been here a few times now . I took my girlfriend , her son and his girl for a meal . This place never disappoints .. in fact it always seems to excel at what they do .. From walking through the door into this beautiful restaurant you feel like a vip... It doesn't stop there. The staff on arrival were happy to go the extra mile by receiving a surprise Birthday cake for my Daughter which they allowed me to bring in. On ordering our food the staff member took time to explain the dish we had ordered to ensure we were totally happy with our choice & shared laughter too. May I say with a age range from 36yrs old - 89yrs old we've been to many Indian restaurants but Rivaj your the top. All the food delivered was absolutely delicious again with smiley staff. They even presented my daughters surprise birthday cake on a lovely cake stand & added a huge sparkler to it. They offered the ladies of the party a glass of prosseco & birthday girl a special drink too. Thank you Rivaj for the best Indian meal ever, your customer service, Paying special attention to the Birthday Girl & making us all feel like VIP'S. Highly recommended. We're be back.

Really disappointed to leave this review but I feel it’s necessary to alert people with allergies or other requirements. I have a peanut allergy. I am fine with ‘traces’ and most restaurants and takeaways accommodate that well. We love the food at Rivaj and used to come regularly to eat in and takeaway. They then introduced a policy a few years ago that if you had any allergies, you could not order over the phone, you had to go there in person to order. Needless to say that did mean we didn’t go regularly. Really fancied giving it another try tonight so I drove down there to place an order, and had a list of what I wanted. When I arrived I asked for a menu and was told to look online. I said I had but it wasn’t loading and that I knew what I wanted. They then told me that they couldn’t guarantee no cross contamination, which I was absolutely fine with. I asked if the things I wanted contained nuts and was again told to look at the JustEat website. I hadn’t done that previously because I’d never been allowed to order in the past via JustEat because of my allergy. I was struggling with internet connection and so asked for the wifi code. I was then ‘told’ to sit down rather than standing at the bar to look at the menu. The person there just kept going on about how they couldn’t guarantee no nuts etc and was rude and obstructive so I left. I have been surprised in the past by this restaurants attitude to my allergy but tonight’s experience was one of downright rudeness. Would be interested to know if they are the same with other allergy sufferers or those with dietary requirements. Will sadly not be returning.

We went to Rivaj for a family meal this evening. The food was fantastic, the portion sizes were genourous and the service was excellent. I would definately recommend and look forward to dining here again.

We ordered a chicken naga and a chicken madras; both were some of the best curries we have ever had! The consistency was just right, chicken was cooked well, and all sides were delicious. Additionally, staff were accommodating and lovely! If we're back in the area in future, we will definitely visit again.

The only bad thing with rivaj is the consistency. Sometimes it can be absolutely blinding then the next visit poor. Tonight was very good, only a couple bits of lamb were chewy but was a lovely meal. Wish the takeaway or just eat delivery had the same levels of meat as eat in though.

Badrul the owner is a great driving force for the super quality of food and the amazing hospitality. you can ask for any dish and nothing is too much. extremely impressive. would always recommend. great value too.

Eaten in and had takeaway......to be honest the food is always lovely but service on delivery can be improved ......had food missing/ wrong food on more than one occasion and its always longer than they say. We ordered tonight with items missing, told would be 20 mins so put the rest of our food on low to keep warm in the oven.....over 1 hr later rest of food delivered but at this point were past it. Rest of food bit dried up now. Said they will sort something out but unsure I want to order delivery again.

I was passing earlier, so I thought I would give it ago, and ordered take away veg jalfrezi and garlic and coriander nan bread, the nan bread was cooked but slightly burned, as for the veg jalfrezi lots of some sort of curry sauce hardly any veg, no peppers which are part of a Jalfrezi, hence will not be going back again, given it was quite bland, good luck if you eat from there.

An expensive way to ruin your evening. We used this place twice in the space of two weeks for takeout delivery, the first time we used just eat. The food came cold and wasn’t at all that good but we blamed just eat and decided to give them another chance by ordering directly from rivaj but that was worse. After waiting for an hour and twenty minutes for my food it came and they had got my order wrong, no chips and a curry that clearly wasn’t “tikka” I phoned up for them to bring them and had to phone back 40 minutes later when I still hadn’t received them. So after waiting for well over 2 hours and asking for my money back I got £2:50 of it and a beer, I am a recovering alcoholic so great nice one rivaj. Oh and I’m writing this in pain sat on the toilet the next morning so save yourselves the bother.

Went with a group. Everythimg was ok, food was ok no complaints at all but nothing special to rave about, service was ok, nice building nice room, loads of potential. Would I go again? Maybe, at some point, but it's not in my top 5 where I go regularly who i give 4 and 5 stars to. Manager was lovely and kept checking his staff and making sure everything was OK.

Been going to this restaurant for years , this place is exceptional and we are always made to feel welcome. Service and food are second to none and the lovely extremely polite boss always makes sure you are happy. Staff very polite and helpful. Would highly recommend.
