One our favourite restaurants. Authentic Bangladeshi food. We regularly eat here and have a great relationship with the staff.

Nice place, was expecting more than they delivered. Bland food, quite possibly one of the worst Indian meals I have had. No return for us I’m afraid.

Having seen the reviews of this place we couldn't wait to visit and is a 45 minute drive, we don't mind for a good quality scran though! However the inside was dated and a bit scruffy in places, the area where the loos are was quite dysmal! Staff weren't the approachable and spent a lot of time walking around looking for something to do. There were long waits on our previous visits despite the restaurant being quiet. The food was quite bland and average compared to other Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants that we have visited. Again, I don't mind paying for a good quality meal, but prices were high for a pretty standard meal. Our visit was before the renovation so I hope it's looking more updated and modern

This is a lovely Indian restaurant with good food and great service. I visited for the first time this week and really enjoyed it. Staff were welcoming and friendly and very attentive. The service was speedy and professional. The menu was comprehensive with lots of menu specials but also the more typical options that you'd expect to see on a menu for an Indian restaurant. The restaurant itself was modern and smartly decorated. Overall a very pleasant restaurant experience and would recommend to anyone who is visiting the local area

Eat here quite regularly as can’t deny the foods lovely however haven’t been for a while as it’s extremely expensive in comparison to other similar restaurants but when they advertised NHS discount me and partner decided to go for a treat after she’d had a hard weekend working only for man at till to to say they don’t accept it even though our waiter said they do and it’s advertised on Facebook. Incredibly unprofessional, would also like to highlight its extremely important to check your bill here as has been known for some extra pounds to slip on the bill ‘accidentally’

I have been to the other restaurants in the Elephant group many times but never to Nellie. The layout inside of it is fantastic. A nice pre-table seating area. The restaurant part has lovely decor. Had poppadoms with the chutney tray first of all. The lime pickle was a disappointment on it though. For mains I had the south Indian garlic curry with lamb. I had this at babar elephant a few months ago which was different to this. Both versions are exceptional. The lamb was so tender and fell apart. I did ask for a garlic and chilli naan however it came with cheese. The booking system the waiter used mustn't have not picked up no cheese. However as i never had a naan with cheese it was a new thing and I was pleasantly surprised. All in all a fantastic meal, will be back soon to try the vindaloo.

We visited Nellies yesterday, party of 15 for our 40th wedding anniversary Staff went out of their way, especially as 2 of our party were 30 mins late due to motorway traffic. Food was excellent everyone had something different and throughly enjoyed their choice We've visited before and will definitely be back Thank you to all the staff for a memorable occasion

Wonderful for great food and atmosphere! I had the most amazing night with my friends. The food was fabulous ! The best Indian cuisine I have ever had. But along side that the staff were very accommodating and attentive and also very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the food that much I did not take any photos. With this I will be back again next week. Such a great night thank you x

Booked a table for four to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. From the minute we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. As soon as we sat down the waitress took our drinks order and asked if we would like the chutney and dips with poppadoms whilst we perused the menu.Drinks and dips arrived very promptly. The menu is very comprehensive and it is very easy to keep picking lots of extras. The portions at this restaurant are large anyway and you might just regret ordering so much food ! All our meals were absolutely delicious and what we couldn’t eat we took home with us. The staff were attentive but not intrusive and very very friendly. We had mentioned that the meal was to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and after we had finished they presented her with a nice slice of chocolate cake complete with candle. It was a lovely gesture which she really appreciated. All in all a great night out. Superb food, excellent service and polite and friendly staff. Highly recommend

Food was admittedly great, other than the tandoori rice being a complete rip off. £7.50 for a small bowl of pilau rice.

I visit my daughter at least once a month and we always try and eat somewhere different eat time. She knows I love Indian food, but also knows I'm fussy as I'm used to the real thing as I have previously worked in India, in Chennai. So a lot of English Indian food is disappointing as it is is too tailored to the English view of Indian food. Not this time! Absolutely amazing food, really authentic flavours. Had poppadoms whilst we pondered what to order and the pickles and chutneys had a good mix of flavours. The portions were generous and we left with full bellies. The staff were attentive and helpful, without being overbearing. 100% will visit again

We are at the grand opening of Nellie’s . They have layed on a banquet and all you pay for is the drinks, how amazing is that. The service and food is beyond exceptional. This restaurant remains to be the best Indian restaurant for miles and miles around. It is certainly worth a drive to even if you aren’t local. The food is consistently fabulous. Thank you and all the best for the future we will certainly be returning again and again and again 👍🏼

Business trip as usual. Restaurant was really busy for a Tuesday evening. Front of house were attentive. Ordered the usual and wasn’t disappointed. The Chana with Aloo was nice (green chilli added) The Tandoori Mix was pleasant too. The Chapatis were a bit dry. Overall I did enjoy my dinner at Nellie.

Saturday 13/05/23 myself and my family came to Nellies as we had been told it was nice so we booked for an 18.30 table on arrival we where seated in the lounge within 5 minutes we where seated at our table the service was fantastic drinks. first then ordered our food that’s when the recommendations became a reality the food was fantastic I myself had south Asian chilli and garlic with lamb with kasmeia rice not to hot very nice meal throughout service fantastic food fantastic then we asked could we sit in the lounge to finish our drinks no problem all the family are looking forward to going back and the bill was not over the top for 5 people Thank You to all the staff for making a fantastic evening

Food was good apart from the piece of what looked like wood in the lime pickle I told the waiter who shrugged and said it was from a mango stone not pleasant to chew on though!! We were constantly asked if we needed more drinks to the point it got annoying. When the bill arrived we were shocked to have been charged £9 for 2 lime and soda and £4.50 for a coke!! We questioned this and were told "That's the price" we would hesitate before returning.

The selection available is excellent and my meal was perfect, all of the staff are friendly and helpful and the service was A1. I'm looking forward to my next visit. Plenty of car parking available too.

Had my first visit to Nellie after a long time and it was Superb and we only live around the corner. All been renovated and it looks so much better than previous a much nicer decor and ambience and feels more cosy. Great Service very friendly and helpful and the menu was superb. Cobra on draught served in the nicest glass ever. My wife and i shared a starter and had poppidoms and then i had the lamb madras with mushroom rice and garlic naam and my wife had the butter chicken and it was all wonderful. The restaurant was very busy so well done to all at Nellie and we look forward to our return which will be soon.

Absolutely our favourite place to come as a family on special birthdays. Tonight was wonderful, love the food. My children adore the chicken tikka. All the staff are true gentleman. Can't thankyou enough for such a wonderful experience. See you next time.

I've been coming here for a number of years and find it's starting to lack what other Indian restaurants have. Service was poor in my eyes, we had a table of 5. The guy serving was leaning from one side of the table and threw the knifes and forks down rather than walking around and placing next to you. Felt pestered on drinks, have a pint and they are asking if you want more. Food was ok, nothing special but do find ots gone very expensive. I understand all prices have gone up but felt very expensive for wjat we had and the quality. Would I come back, not for a long time. There are so much better for the same money if not less. Service for me is a big thing and it didn't match expectations or the price tag. 5/10 for me.

We think ‘curry’ … we think ‘Nellie’. There is no better place to come. We’ve been coming here for years and wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else for an Indian feast. The service is always exemplary, the food always to die for. Why go anywhere else?

Brilliant Visited with family for a midweek birthday treat. Driven past umpteen times and finally decided to call in, so glad we did, nice décor and welcoming staff. Each one of us said it was just superb, I went for the King Prawn Balti Massala which was awesome. We will be sure to come back again very soon

OMG.......been coming to Nellie's fir a few months mostly takeaways but occasional dine in.....always have the mutton and potato not because the other food is poor because this dish in my opinion is excellent and truly authentic. I had the same tonight but ordered a Madras sauce......off the scale....not in terms of heat but the mixture a d blend of spices...warm, smoky , a triumph of flavour. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favour and give this place a visit before you have to book three weeks in advance. Neil

Food was really nice but went pretty early on a Saturday teatime(ish). Just with my two young children and seemed to wait forever for a drink. Staff were attentive but need to back off. I’m spending time with my kids so I don’t want random men making small talk we both obviously don’t want. When it came to paying the bill there was a bit on confusion. Not sure if you pay at the reception if they bring the bill as after literally 20 mins after asking I got the kids ready as I was now fed up and before I could even leave the area to go to reception and pay the bill there was about 6 staff started lingering about. Not sure if they thought I was going to do a runner, if so bring the bloody bill out. It’s Saturday night and I’ve got 2 children and asked 20 mins ago. Another 10 minute wait at the reception/bar to pay. New customers walking in with no manners (approx 50+). Tbh I wouldn’t go again and prob wouldn’t recommend either but the food was nice and decor was ok.

Food brilliant as always, Chicken Chat starter was lovely and the main meals were all perfect. Best Naans i’ve had for a long time will definitely return!

We've been here a lot over the years and each time, even with the different names it's had, the staff have been great and the food brilliant.

The guy was fab, asked us what we liked, told him my husband preferred Chinese, he recommended the perfect dish for him! Lamb for me traditional curry they eat at honey with mum! Perfect! Highly recommended! Can't wait to go again!

Arrived at restaurant for a family meal at 7pm , sat down in lounge and after 10 minutes asked if we could order drinks! I remarked to the waiter it was uncomfortably cold , we were then asked if we would like to move into the restaurant as it should be warmer in there , unfortunately it wasn’t as the radiators were off , then sat in the cold until 7.20 for our starters to arrive, we didn’t bother with sweet and I mentioned the lack of heat and length wait for food when paying the bill and nobody seemed to give a monkey’s, pity as the food when it did arrive wasn’t to bad, we won’t be returning as there are better options in Birkdale and Lord st.

One of the coldest nights of the year. It was so cold inside the restaurant too. We waited for pre drinks, and we waited over one hour for food. The food was okay when it it eventually arrived to six cold and hungry diners. The waiters just kept there heads down and were not friendly or welcoming. Seemed to be very busy with `take-aways`. (Please, concentrate on the diner). Charged for a side dish that never arrived. It was all very disappointing, we had heard only good things of `Nellies` I shall keep to Birkdale Village and Lord street for my next Indian treat.

Went with work friends. All the staff were excellent. The food when it arrived was excellent. The decor is beautiful with a fantasic atmosphere. All in our group said it was some of the best service and food we’d had in a long time. I highly recommend you try for your self you will not be disappointed. Many thanks to the Nellie at Scarisbrick, the manager and staff for a great evening, we are very grateful.

Our group of 8 family ate here last night for a 50 th birthday celebration, amazing service, felt really welcomed and have never tasted such good Indian food ! It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere inside, we will definitely go again !

Wasn't impressed with waiter service, no attention to what we were ordering, wine spilt on table by the waiter, no apology or reimbursement òffered and at £20 + per bottle ...not impressed. Then after meal we wanted to sit and chat in the lounge area, after spending £300, were pressured into leaving as some staff had to travel back home to Oldham!!! Not the customers problem. First impressions not good, a great evening spoiled by staff wanting to get home at 9.30!!!!

Outstanding but expensive Indian cuisine. It was a mistake to go on New year's eve. It took nearly three hours to get our main course. It was clear they had accepted far too many take out orders and this had a knock on effect for us dining in. Staff were friendly, but could do nothing to speed up the process. For a couple it was £120 excluding tip! I doubt we'll return. Shame really as its a lovely building with some of the best Indian food I've eaten.

I’d been really looking forward to my first visit to Nellie but was disappointed. Entrance/Lounge area was a mess, menus and beer mats strewn on the floor and was cold. Couches have also seen better days, not a good first impression. Nobody came to take our drinks order as promised. After being seated and our orders taken, we felt bombarded by over attentive staff. After being disturbed 5 times within 5 minutes, by various staff, I had to ask them to please leave us alone! The food took a long time to arrive and we had to chase it up. My partner went to the loo and commented that they were a bit of a mess also. On leaving the gents a member of staff asked if he’d used the hand drier because most men come out wiping their wet hand on their trousers. He thinks it was an attempt at a joke but just plain weird. I’ve given 3 stars because we enjoyed the food but sorry Nellie, that will be our first and last visit.

Everything was just lovely. Great welcome, we had a great table ion a busy night and the service was fantastic. Special shout to the Old Man, Luson, Sal. The food was as good as possible and all in all a wonderful dining experience. We will be back again soon. Very highly recommended

I have eaten in the most rated indian Restaurants in the North West including those in Manchester....Trust me these guys know how to cook.....the mutton and potatoes are sublime.....travel as far as you want but give this a visit ........

Excellent food, poor service. The staff were rude and unattentive but the food was very good. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table even though we'd booked, during the wait wasn't offered a drink until we were taken to our table.

Just visited Nellie’s. Haven’t been in a while and found lovely interior transformation. Friendly attentive staff, nothing too much trouble. Better than that, the food was delicious, especially the seafood sizzler starter.

Visit here regularly and never fails to impress. Stunning food yet again, highly recommend it. Service is 5 star and will be back again soon.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Whilst the building could do with some love and attention, do not let it put you off. The staff are friendly and attentive. However, the food is incredible. A mixture of classics and modern twists, all of a high standard and delicious. Do not skip.

Nice restaurant with great service and very good choice on the menu. I tried the Murgh Tanger and mushroom rice which was very tasty. The prices are quite reasonable as well.

Loved the place. Very modern and airy. I had the hottest dish on the menu, as is my way (Naga Naga) and it was very tasty. The heat did not impinge on the taste. I could have gone hotter still. The others in the group...
