Visited shalims this evening with a friend. Absolutely amazing food, up there in the top 10 Indian restaurants I have visited. Lovely, fresh and clean authentic dining area. Staff lovely and welcoming. Gave us take away containers for remaining food as portions were good size. Definitely visit again on our returning trip to Weymouth.

A group of us friends got a takeaway from Shalim's on a busy Saturday night. What a truly authentic treat it was... We fancy ourselves as somewhat food connoisseurs and judged this to be a brilliant and delicious meal. The naan breads were soft and fluffy with a tasty char, we tried a variety of curries and sides, a dhanzac, a vegetable korma, and a chicken korma. It was the perfect level of spice. We also had a saag aloo, a tarka daal, and crispy poppadoms - the portions were generous and not to be sniffed at. The onions were a standout. This was the pinnacle of British Indian cuisine in weymouth. Thank you shalim for going the country mile - PS We enjoyed your Google reviews.

Really nice food, delivered on flavour and each dish had its own uniqueness. Just a few mins walk away from where we were staying in our holiday accommodation. Was always busy inside the restaurant when we collected. Only slight criticism is, food wasn't piping hot, the estimated time given for delivery was always too long, as it was ready 10-15mins before.

Whilst in Weymouth we paid a visit to Shalims and found it to be a fantastic place with good food and a great service by a bunch of lads who would cater for your every need,being from the Midlands we are obviously well up on curries and believe me this one was really up towards the top

This was a last minute Birthday treat for the family, and being absolutely honest... this was the best choice we made. We were made exceptionally welcome on arrival, and the 7 of us (including a baby and a 9 year old) were looked after very well. The food was fantastic (very authentic) and the portion sizes were great. We will definitely be returning. 10/10

I am a regular visitor to Weymouth but this was my first visit to Shalims, the restaurant was recommended to us by a local pub landlord. Went on Saturday, the restaurant was quite busy , which I take as a good sign. Plenty of tempting choices on the menu, I eventually went for Lamb Korai, it is a medium dish and was just right for my tastes. My wife had a chicken dish, we shared a portion of garlic fried rice and a garlic nan. The meal was very tasty, I enjoyed it very much as did my wife. The portion size was just right for us. The service was good and I enjoyed the whole experience. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and will be returning on my next visit to Weymouth. Thank you.

Really enjoy the food and service at Shalims, on every visit. Delicious, freshly cooked food with great service. Salmon Roshini and Garlic chilli chicken are really good and the kids love the Chicken balti. 5* everytime so far. Thanks Amir

Heard a lot about this place and its food . Had the vindaloo and I’ll be quite blunt if you like your curry hot avoid this place . The vindaloo was more a korma . Good service though , but very poor Indian food for me .

Food was not good in taste, no salt no spices, too expensive according to taste

Food was outstanding except for the onion bhajis which were flat and tasteless. When clearing the table the manager dropped food on the floor yet for the next 20minutes he and other members of staff although seeing it did not clean it up. Had to ask for our bill a second time and even then waited so long actually went up to the bar to pay. On leaving our table food on floor was still visibly there. Such a shame.

Please don't fall for this 5 star reviews🙏... Because that's what happened to me. I'm regretting that I would have gone through those negative reviews to avoid one of those worst experience in my life. This rating is misleading to choose a restaurant with unprofessional staff and their discriminatory behavior on a happy holidays. Not child friendly. No strollers even for small babies. And they will judge you first to decide how to treat you. My friend already described our incident in his review. Your food might be good but how you treat people is more important. Politeness is the heart of UK's culture. In Indian culture, it is a sacred duty to provide food regardless of their social status or background. There might be some unknown reason for this judgemental and impolite attitude towards customers. It's a basic courtesy to "say sorry even if you didn't feel so" when someone says that you have caused them trouble. But it need to have lots of courage to insult people publicly (sarcastically or making up stories) for expressing their views. I'm expecting the same but still amazed by the way you're still satisfied with your hospitality business. I had to give you atleast 1 star to put this review. I'm regretting for that as well😒

Love they have a vegan menu, but it hasn't changed in years. Still normally the masala is lovely, last night it was some sort of cabbage fest that we had to wait 50 minutes for. Disappointing to say the least especially when very nice Manager /Owner told us it was made the same as usual - this version was horrible and NOT the same or anything like anyones flippin masala recipeshoild be. But hey ho - normally good here , and always busy so proven to be popular and respect that. But based on last night may be a while before we can face to return to this

My party of 6 enjoyed the most fabulous selection of dishes. We ordered several starters, main courses and side dishes to share as a banquet. The food was exceptional. Each dish had its own unique taste and texture. This is high quality Indian cuisine. The service was warm and friendly, the atmosphere perfect and the whole experience was very memorable. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Well done to the team at Shalims!!!!!

Coming from a food connoisseur- Unfortunately, my experience with the Indian cuisine at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The dishes lacked flavor and authenticity, with bland spices and poorly cooked ingredients. The presentation was lackluster, and the overall dining experience fell far below expectations. I hope the restaurant takes steps to improve their offerings, as there is much room for enhancement in both taste and quality. Suggestion for the restaurant owner - remove the word “ Indian “ from your restaurant name .

We went to the restaurant as we wanted to have a proper Indian meal. The restaurant is not Indian and the dishes were not authentic. The food was not at par. The dishes tasted really weird. They didn’t have the basic things for Indian dining. Overall, would not recommend this place for Indian food!

Stayed in the area , fancied some indian food , you will not be disappointed. Restaurant busy but soon seated as a walk in. Very tasty food at reasonable prices. Staff attentative, busy and very efficient. Take away service available.

My partner and I have been eating here for over 10 years and there’s a reason why, because it’s absolutely amazing. The food is second to none and the service is fantastic. In this visit we decided to enroll our 6 year old daughter to the tradition and she loved it. A huge thank you to Shalim and his team and my personal thanks to the cooks who make this outstanding food. 👍 We shall be seeing you again soon.

The food may be amazing but they are definitely not an "All family friendly restaurant" We are young families and were on a holiday and googled for Indian restaurants in Weymouth and since it is open a 5pm we had English food for lunch thought we can go for dinner. We are not bothered about price and WE COULD SEE HOW MUCH OTHERS HAD SPENT HERE ON GOOGLE. There are 2 sleeping kids with us and we entered in and were greeted like this "Buggies not allowed" While thinking of leaving the buggy in the car and coming back, I heard this "Minimum £25 spend per person" in a harsh tone. The same could be conveyed in a different way. The most disgusting experience right after entering a restaurant. We left the place immediately and went to the one opposite to it and had a good experience and we definitely spent more than £30 per person including drinks(Though it is a fixed price buffet on a Sunday night). Note: The white family who entered right next to us were not told anything. Does it raise a red flag? Well.. surely it does. Food comes next to the way you treat a customer. ADVICE TO THE RESTAURANT: Keep a note at the entrance which highlights BUGGIES ARE NOT ALLOWED and mention the MINIMUM SPEND PER PERSON. That will help you. If someone is not comfortable, they won't step in. You have to learn from your mistakes, not retaliate on negative reviews. That is how you grow a business. Have seen justifications for other negative reviews from the restaurant owners. Waiting to see the response. EDIT: What else can you expect from a cheeky restaurant owner? Got loads of experience in satires and goofy attitude, but no decency. Thanks for adding drama to your response. The response says it all. Thank God we did not get a chance to dine here.

Fab Indian restaurant! Interesting menu, and a great vegan jackfruit curry!

Just got back from having the best indian meal ive ever had. The service was exeptional staff very attentive without being overbearing and the food was the best. Would recommend shalims to anybody who loves currys and great service.

Food was lovely. Fresh tasting ingredients and not at all greasy. Nan was lovely although the peshwari was a little lacking on almonds etc. Mixed grill very tasty, bhuna very flavoursome. Rice was lovey and light - perfectly cooked. Well done. This was a takeaway on a busy Friday night but was presented fairly quickly. The only criticism was that your reception area could perhaps do with a little more care and attention. The seating area is a bit tired which is slightly off putting.

What a Fantastic Restaurant... The food is Delicious, full of Great Flavours and Textures... The Staff are Welcoming and Friendly... It could easily become my favourite Indian style restaurant to go...

Had an amazing meal here whilst on a weekend away with my husband and 2 teenage daughters. Absolutely fabulous 👌 The peshwari chicken was possibly the best dish I've ever eaten! We had a takeaway for Christmas Day and it delicious. The curry was tasty and NOT over salted liked some curries can be and the choices on offer, particularly for vegetarians, was very impressive. We shall definitely be using Shalims again, despite not living local (20 miles away in rural Dorset). Thank you for being open on Christmas Day for takeaway service, we appreciated it 😀

If you like tomatoes, this may be the place for you! Good atmosphere, attentive staff, however, rather disappointed. The curries were fine. The vegetable dishes were fine. However, I did not understand why there was a great big piece of tomato buried under the vegtables in with the Mushroom bhaji, the Bindi bhaji and Saag bhaji...... Rather disappointing at the minimal quantity of these vegetables, and the oversize tomato that took up the major part of the dish. If I wanted tomatoes I would have asked for tomatoes. It's obviously done to minimise the cost of the premium price vegetables and for that reason I gave the 3 rating for the food, otherwise it was good. Verdict, if you like tomatoes, this may be the place to go!

One of the best curries I've ever had. The Akbori Chicken Mosalam is a must have. Order two is my advice! Staff were very attentive and service was great. Will definitely be back as soon as possible!

Not one to leave reviews often but this feels like a pleasurable duty. Excellent menu with a full variety of flavours to suite all tastes. With a starter and main course I always leave Shalims feeling pleasantly full. Finally I must mention the Tamarind sauce condiment, it always tastes like I could drink it from a pint glass. 😋

Friendly place, modern decor, and really outstanding food. Probably the best I've had in the UK. I think you'd need to go as far as Birmingham to find anywhere that could compete. Not cheap, but not all that expensive either, and definitely worth it.

Worst Restaurant I have ever seen. even if I get the food free I would not like to have it would rather prefer to sleep hungry.

Fantastic food and service! The flavours of all the dishes were exceptional and for a reasonable price. The vegetarian/vegan menu also has a lot of options and also different to the standard protein replacements. Highly recommended!

The manager who met me was extremely rude and was reeking of discriminatory behaviour. First I went and told him that I had no reservation and does he have a table he said they don’t have which was fine. Then I searched online and booked it and when again 10 mins later. Out of blue he came and told me about the minimum order per head. I said fine and asked if it applies to little kids as well. He said yes, which was a bit strange and then I asked him there was no such info. On the website when I booked he went into denial mode and started raising voice and said he did not want to serve me and rushed away. Pity on such people.

Walked through the door to a lovely reception, table no bother on a weds eve, food was 10/10, no complaints n plates empty, delightful service from the nights staff, Irish coffees to finished with 1st time for the husband to be, thank you guys!

I had an amazing dining experience at this exceptional Indian restaurant! The service was outstanding, and they took great care of us. The food was incredibly delicious, clearly prepared with love. Highly recommended if you're in the area. The restaurant boasts a luxurious and modern ambiance, and they offer takeout options.

Gorgeous restaurant, perfect atmosphere, lovely staff and very attentive. We had a lovely chambliss, garlic chilli chicken (not too spicy but has a nice kick) and akbori chicken mosala (again nice kick but not too spicy) all delicious. portion sizes aren’t huge but perfect to eat everything you order; especially if you’re planning on sharing a few dishes amongst the table. The Roti bread was delicious as was the naan. All in all a very enjoyable evening and should we visit Weymouth again we will surely dine here.

We tried there biryani which was terrible, it wasn't 10 % taste of Biryani, totally tasteless. We also tried bhindi ( okra) which was also tasteless & not well cook. You can't feel asian taste in there food. However there service was good but again food matters more. Mostly non asian folks rated here who don't know actual taste of Asian dishes taste.

Great Indian restaurant, without doubt the best in Weymouth

The food was terrible, everything was under seasoned and lacked flavour. The customer service was poor, and no one even greeted at the door. The lady at the desk looked at us like we disturbed her! I could go on about the issues here so I definitely do not recommend it.

Great food, service and atmosphere

We were rushed from start to finish. Not relaxing at all. In and out in under 50 minutes. This is a shame as never had anything to complain about before.

Down in Weymouth for a few days, so visited the restaurant. It was Monday night and it was heaving…!! Amazing. Service was quick and efficient, very polite. Food was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Nice decor, food was very good. A strange start to our visit though. When we entered there were some people at the front desk (bar) paying their bill. ( It seems this is what you do when you are finished. Not ask for the bill and pay at the table). Staff were interested in taking the money, then went back to clearing and resetting tables. I couldn't get the man's attention we were ignored. Eventually the lady at the bar said someone would be with us shortly. As she said that, a waiter came and took us to our table. We were very close to giving up and leaving.

We came here whilst on holiday and overall I’ve got to say we were pleased. We ordered 3 x chicken tikka madras with boiled rice, poppadoms, plain naan bread, onion salad and onion bhajis. As we collected we saved 10% off the total bill. If I remember right, it was around £50-£60. I liked the sweetness of the Madras here, which then led to the warmth of the spice. The chicken pieces are fairly small, but you got a few of them. The naan was quite small, but I get these are made to order and they don’t all come out of the clay over the same shape or size. Poppadoms were fresh and had the right amount of crunch to them. The picture was taken after I’d started eating. The restaurant which we collected from was fairly busy with customers eating in…we collected not long after opening time…I always judge an Indian by this as it shows it’s popular. I’d go back and eat here again.

First time visiting, heard a lot of good things about this place and I can happily say, expectations were certainly met, from working in the hospitality industry myself I was amazed on the service! The quality of food was excellent and atmosphere was great, really enjoyed my visit Will definitely be returning and a massive thank you to the staff who made my first visit great😊

We visited the place as it had great reviews online and left seriously disappointed. It took a while to take our orders (on around 80% cover). We got some of the starters before the drinks, then some starters after the main meals arrived. Which is ok, if you come to the table and explain what's happening, you know: the way you should treat adults. The menu looked good, some dishes had serious spice warnings, and while we both like chillies we listened to the warnings and opted for moderate spiciness. That seemed to be a big mistake as all dishes came blend and without a hint of heat. I would like to think that I tried some really good and fairly authentic indian dishes in my life. Sadly this wasn't one.

This is the first Indian restaurant I have been to and the first time my partner has tried a curry . It was absolutely delicious and well worth the price . I wish I could have finished everything though my stomach couldn’t manage it that night . My food was offered to be packed up which I would have done if I wasn’t staying in a BnB and had to travel by train the next day. I can only hope that my local Indian restaurant is as good as this place.

In Weymouth for a short weekend break. Booked Shalims for 2 people not knowing anything about it. Wow what a treat. Smart well designed dining area, staff couldn't do enough for you, pleasant, helpful and service fast. Food was 11 out of 10. Probably best Indian dining experience we have experienced. We visit Weymouth on an annual basis and been to Shalims each time, but this will be the last time! We booked online and were taken to our table on time, then it went down hill! Very slow at getting our drinks, but they were very fast at producing the bill just after we finished our main course. They did not ask if we wanted dessert or another drink the bill arrived without us requesting it. On the way out I sarcastically said to the gentleman who greets that is the first time I have received a bill without asking for it. He replied thank you sir!!!

Great fast service, really good food. The atmosphere of the restaurant is brilliant, a lot of thought had gone into the design of the deco. A great Indian restaurant.

The scene from 'Goodness Gracious Me' leaps to mind, 'bring me the blandest thing on the menu'. Deeply, deeply underwhelming. My girlfriend thought she detected some spice in her chicken bhuna at one point, but this turned out to be a small piece of onion left over from the chutney tray which she had added herself. The only thing I consumed which had any heat to it was the pint of warm cola they served me. The onion bhaji (which turned up just after my main...) was burnt, the medium house special dish I had was as spicy as a Mr Whippy ice cream. Also, the service was slow; yes it's a Friday night, but by the time we left, the restaurant was half empty. We got fed up waiting for the bill, so went up to the counter to pay in the end. The best place to eat in Weymouth that we found was an Italian restaurant on the sea front called ENZO. Go there instead. Seriously.

🚫❌️Don't go in this Restaurant!! The food was not at all PAN Asian. It is supposed to be a blend of flavour, spices and herbs but there wasn't a tiny bit of optimal usage in the spices. Even after instructing after the waited asked for extra spicy it wasn't rather it was sweet. The king prawns were overcooked and they weren't King prawns I believe. Never ever had such worst onion bhaji. Only the chicken tandoori was fine. Just fine I wouldn't say good. Well the mushroom rice was so bland that it was an injustice to our indian cuisine expectations. Wastage of money and hurting your expectations for Indian or south Asian cuisine. If people like this then they aren't really aware what an Indian Cuisine is probably. I don't know how are they making Business. Visited with friends tired from a trip but instead ended up wasting money and there was no other place nearby and it was late so had to eat.

As I entered the restaurant was very quiet but within a very short time it was full. The menu had a great selection of meals, I hadn’t heard of most of the specials which I tend to go for. I can’t remember the exact name of the dish I selected but it was absolutely brilliant meal. I loved it! The service was efficient and attentive despite the full restaurant. All in all a great find.
