Wonderfully rustic and antiquated Portland pub with history in its walls. Great prices and old fashioned decor. Bespoke bands that don't play anywhere else locally, fulfilling the unique stamp that the Royal Portland Arms provides.

Very 'local' pub where strangers are made welcome. Toilets could do with a spruce up, but then why bother, it's not as if you drink there. Always a good pint and some novelty scrumpies

Brilliant little pub full of character. Proper pub experience. No TVs, occasional bridge and often live music.

Struggling to find good non tied ales while on holiday on Portland. After a lot of research and some legwork, found this gem. 2/3 interesting ales and 1/2 Real ciders... Interesting decor and lovely interesting locals.

Friendly, quirky; a good place to have a laugh or just chat. A lot of great live music ( with the occasional that isn't!) A pub with regulars who are great characters and also dog friendly when not too crowded. Fantastic owner and great bar staff. There's nowhere quite like it. There's Cheese Wednesday; music Friday evening and also Sunday afternoon.

Very friendly ladies. They let me eat my fish & chips and helped me with a plate and fork. Nicest shandy. Good ales. And I had a guinness for dessert.

This is a proper old fashioned pub. Unlike most other pubs in the area it doesn't have two TV's and a jukebox playing at the same time. It has actual draught beer on tap and a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely not a youngsters pub. It's brilliant!

In a sense, liking going back in time. But with a lovely real ale, served by a convivial hostess. There is a large council car park just a few yards up the road. I shall return.

Don't judge a book by its cover, if you can get past the dilapidated exterior you will find a characterful and welcoming pub with decent beer.

This is a gem. It's what English pubs used to be about...personality. Don't expect spotlessness, chintz or sourced jus. This is as close to the knuckle drinking commraderie as it used to be in the days of black and white. Good beers, lagers and suspicious ciders and live music on selected days.

One of my locals! Like going back in time, so much so that a film company were filming here a couple of weeks ago and we all had to go somewhere else! To describe it... Peeling paint outside, 1960's wallpaper inside but don't let that put you off! Great real ales, artisan ciders and craft gins. A massively friendly crowd of regulars, everyone from surgeons to teachers to tradespeople, all drawn by the company and the excellent range of real ales (best on the island). Regular excellent live music and a fantastic view across Lyme Bay. Wonderful!

I'm on a tight budget and having a takeaway is a real treat. I was so disappointed with my meal. Ordered Veggie korma. Unfortunately a handful of frozen mixed veg, 1 mushroom and half a very unpleasant reheated potato was a waste of money. How hard could it be to chopped up a few fresh veg?

An excellent Indian take away. What was impressive was how vegan friendly this place is. We asked the very helpful lady taking the orders who reassured as as to what dishes we could have, there were lots. My Vgn Bhuna was amazing, hot and saucy - perfect. Will absolutely return here next time in Weymouth. Thank you King Balti team and the lady server 🙏
