Visited for my daughter's birthday. The place was almost empty but it didn't put us off. Great menu and the burgers are awesome, so tasty. Staff were friendly and there's a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

Found this place randomly after searching for somewhere that does a good vegetarian meal. Although they only served one veggie burger, it was amazing! We ordered five burgers overall and we all really enjoyed it. None of us could finish the burger and fries. The price was amazing for what you get. Honestly could not recommend coming here more. If you're in the area it's definitely worth visiting

Heard about this place and that it was good amd after kebedge left head of steam I needed somewhere new in the old town area. Glad I found out about this I had the real Gadgie burger, I've never had a Gadgie but heard of them. It was great and I think the meat was a better quality than kerb edge, not greasy but juicy and the burger sauce really strong amd puchy and the parties were really well seasoned, the maple bacon thick of good quality crispy and not fatty. All of the above combined it just blew me away🤯 I found my self eating slower just to saver all the flavours, I need that fix again soon😛. I had loads of chips with spice but it would be amazing of they made fresh though but who cares Im not picking here.... go there.... now

We came here during the day to watch the football on a weekend, all I can say is that the staff were so friendly! We ordered cocktails and beer which was all top notch, we ordered food which was also great, and my partner then had to order more food later on it was that good! All around great vibes, this place made me happy. Oh and it looks great too!

After the Head of Steam nearby stopped selling Kerb Edge burgers, I was at a bit of a loss as to where I could get my next decent burger fix... so glad we stopped by here. It was quiet, just after work on a Friday night and we sat down to look at the menu.. I’d already heard that they sell “Gadgie Burgers” and hadn’t tried one yet. We settled for a gadgie burger deal which included a “gadgie” burger, fries and a beer for £7. Much better than nearby’s £17 for a burger and a pint! The food was delicious... burger juicy, full of bacon and cheese and the sauce was delicious, with fresh lettuce, onion and tomato. The chips were crispy, piping hot, covered in chip spice and plentiful. My partners words were “better than Dope burger” - I found it hard to disagree! The least greasy burger we’ve had and so full of flavour. There were 2 members of staff on duty, the chef and bartender as it was quiet. They were lovely lads and really accommodating. And my partner loved the large screen to watch the football on! We’ve already decided we’re coming back next week and I would urge anyone in the vicinity to make a visit too!

Went to watch the Football and it was such a good atmosphere.Lively and friendly. The Burger was amazing, the beer was spot on. Would recommend this place to anyone, its something different from the other bars in Hull and a real gem that should be experienced.

Came in for a burger and pint for £7 as a World Cup special there food was so good and bar staff were really friendly. The bar has an abroad feel to it! The World Cup games are on a big projector screen with good coverage. Recommended!

This is our 3rd trip for food here. My partner is a massive burger fan so when I saw it was food by Gadgie burger I was keen to try. Neither of us had ever eaten Gadgie burger before. I'm vegetarian so presumed that what was offered for me would be the old standard bean burger. How wrong I was. My food was amazing a combination of cheese, sauted mushrooms, caramelised onions, hash browns and more. loved it. My boyfriend got the cow and chicken burger (not sure I've got the name right) it was huge! Burger moist and seasoned to perfection with a buttermilk crispy chicken breast. Both served on brioche buns. We shared curly fries which were more than enough for us both. Really generous portion. Both stuffed full and very satisfied. The guys are really cool, great service and the atmosphere chilled. Fab place to eat and drink. Definitely coming here again.

Attended the car show at the minster, was looking around and we saw this place. Decided to pop in for a drink and something to eat. Food was delicious, by far the best burger ive ever had!!! Really nice chilled out vibe in here world cup on in the back ground happy days....the guy who served was really good making sure everything was ok. Lovely gem of a place. Will deffo be returning very soon

Went in on a Thursday evening for dinner and drinks and was very impressed. Brilliant food and a great selection of drinks. Will definitely visit again. 2 cocktails for £10 was an absolute winner.

I had an amazing experience at Shak Bar & Grill for my birthday. It was worth the price and was absolutely amazing. The staff where so lovely and met my needs. We probably ordered to much stuff but it was definitely worth it haha, would recommend it to all my friends and family and I will be returning without a doubt!

I visited this newly-refurbished bar with friends early afternoon yesterday. We ordered a variety of drinks and studied the food menu. Because we weren't all that hungry we decided to share a snoop dog, a chicken basket and fries. All nicely served and piping hot, very tasty and surprisingly filling. We could have stayed all afternoon if not for imminent expiry of parking. I would urge anyone to give this bar a try, and wish it well in its new venture.

We popped in here for a drink, mainly because it was quieter than neighbouring bars. I have no idea why it should be this way though as it was an excellent place for a cocktail. The staff were very welcoming and did not rush us at all. My wife wanted a cocktail and it took her a little while to choose. There was an offer on of two cocktails for a tenner. We have found that quite often you have to have the same two drinks, but here you could have any combination. We took a seat and they bought them over to us. She was more than happy with her choices and it was nice that she got to try different ones. It deserves to be busier, you should pop in, I'm sure you won't be disappointed

10/10 would recommend for all types of stuff drinking. Eating. Catching up

Went in as part of a Hen do. Had food and selection of fishbowl cocktails. Food was amazing plenty of choice including vegetarian. Cocktails were brilliant and served in querky skull bowls. Staff were friendly helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend this place

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon with two kids. We all loved the friendly relaxed atmosphere and the decor of SHAK. The food was absolutely amazing. I got the chicken basket while the kids had chicken nuggets and fish fingers. Food was brought out quickly with a smile and the staff were very friendly and attentive to any requests we had. Would highly recommend for a family friendly relaxed place to stop by for food and drinks.

Ate in Shak last week after seeing that they had Gadgie burgers on the menu, the burgers were really tasty and the portion sizes were good value for money, They had a good selection of drinks and the staff were nice, will definitely eat here again, going to see what its like on the nigh time as a bar

Myself, wife and daughter ended up eating here on Saturday 5th May after another local establishment turned us away because my daughter was 12 ! Anyway glad they did because they food they served up was fantastic as well as being great value for money ! The Gadgie burgers are ace especially when washed down with a cold craft lager.

Popped in for lunch with a couple of friends as heard they was cooking gadgie burgers menu from the kitchen. Have to say the place has been remodeled excellenty and the food didn't disappoint it was really tasty I had a gadgie burger which was one of the tastiest burgers I've tried in a long time and went for something new to the menu which isn't on the gadgie brands takeaway menu a corn dog as I've never tried one before it was delicious. I WILL be returning thats a fact!

Was in there on opening night after the refurbishment. Absolutely loved it! Incredible atmosphere, great music and awesome cocktails!! Love what they’ve done with the place, the bar is unique and sleek and there’s nothing like it in the area! Will definitely be back in soon to try the food and sample a few more cocktails!! #backtheshak

Great cocktails at a reasonable price and the food is good too. Just wish they did small plates cos the portions are huge
