Shah's in Stratford-on-Avon

Was away for business and so we googled a place to eat. The reviews were excellent so we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. Food = exceptional. Service = exceptional. Value for money = exceptional

Lovely, fresh and hot food as always however like most Indian restaurants, if the place is quite towards the end of the night, you’re made to feel uncomfortable and rushed even though it was 90-60 minutes before the advertised closing time! Once again even though it’s advertised as open until 11pm, by 9.30 the waiter was hovering and it was obvious he wanted us out so they could close early! To me it’s straightforward, if you to close at 10pm, then advertise this, if it’s 11pm then leave people be!!

First off - great food and very reasonable prices. Now for downside, if you want a quiet atmospheric experience this is not the place. We’ve been a couple of times recently, and the noise levels are off putting to say the least! A very large party of drunken revellers were seated near us and totally ruined our experience (along with other diners) we asked to be moved but couldn’t be accommodated. It was a similar experience on a previous visit. The food is great, but unfortunately we won’t be dining there again.

Let me be totally honest - The food is delicious, chefs are spot on! Presentation on the plate is mouth watering and the quality of the fayre is impressive. What lets Shah's down is the quality and presentation of the restaurant as a dining experience. The tables and chairs are tired and have a "Wetherspoons wood" feel - there are no white table cloths on the tables so it feels cheap and a bit unclean. The staff are uninterested in you as a customer, unless if you're a recognised local and don't really smile nor are they attentive. Plates are food are simply dropped onto the table with no real care or attention - which is disappointing. I don't mind so much if I was on a lads night out, but not ideal when you're on a date. Due to this I would only ever order a takeaway from here - I won't be dining in again. Food wise - Keep up the good work!

Just one of the best Bangladeshi restaurants I’ve dined in. The depth of flavour in the sauces was exceptional. We had a paneer starter and a lamb and chicken mains. Service was very helpful and attentive.

AMAZING. Thank you so much to Shah, Abdul and all there amazing team for making my 60th Birthday Celebrations the best ever. Food was incredible, as was the service. Entertainment was just the best. All the guests had such a wonderful day. I highly recommend this establishment for a private party. What a lovely venue. You guys are just the best. THANK YOU. XX

I have eaten Asian food all over the world and this is up there with the best, we were on a family outing of 8, booked table at 18:30 and were seated and served immediately. The service was second to none, the food was superb, everything was hot and fresh, our bill was around £200 with quite a few drinks, will definitely be going again but be warned, book a table as when we left there was not an empty chair.

We ordered and paid for a takeaway online and went to collect (10% discount). Website said allow 30 mins for preparation. It was a quiet night and our food was ready within 20 minutes. Very tasty! Some unusual dishes on the menu. Decent sized portions which gave us enough for a light lunch the next day! Ordered (& paid for) 4 poppadoms and no chutneys, but they gave us 8 poppadoms, onion salad and a chutney!. Thank you!

This is a good curry house with an extremely extensive menu. No complaints from any of us with any of the dishes ordered. I had the Shah Special as a main. Bit of an odd combo of chicken prawns and lamb but somehow it worked. Starters, mains and copious amounts of beer for about £40 per head. The only downside I'd say is a lack of sound absorbing materials to soften the acoustics, as it was quite noisy.

The best lamb dupiaza I’ve ever had! It’s my go to dish and I’ve eaten it in many restaurants and this is by far the best, the lamb was so tender it melted in the mouth. The rest was also beautifully cooked and so fresh and lovely! The service is also brilliant and the staff can’t do enough.

Great restaurant with lovely tasty food. First time, but won't be the last. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Prices gone up, very noisy restaurant, smaller dishes than usual 6 people eating but we all had only 4 bits of chicken in the main dishes!! Like they deliberately counted it out go to Aladdin’s Tiddington much better

Visited this restaurant for the first time with family who have been here before and recommended it to us. We were greeted with a very warm, welcome and shown straight to our seats. The menu is absolutely fantastic, large amount of choices, some dishes I have never seen advertised anywhere else before. I had the fish curry with potatoes. Absolutely fantastic, tasted wonderful ,fully recommend this restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic.

Great restaurant, the service is excellent, the guys are super friendly. The food is delicious, I had tikka madras with a side of sheek kebab, veg Pilau rice and a delicious keema naan. Our third visit and hopefully will be returning soon.

Still turning out quality food, great service and reasonable pricing - some new dishes including an Afghan Chicken Palok which is delish!

We just happened to see Shah’s as we drove past but were very glad that we stopped. Had an amazing meal which the family really enjoyed and particularly liked the Chef’s specials which were new to us. Service was a little slow at times but they were very busy and only just fitted us in. Throughly recommended and we will be back next time we are driving up the Foss Way!

What has happened to Shahs? Booked a table for 6.30pm and after chasing a couple of times food finally arrived at 7.50pm. Place was very busy and staff very disorganised. Not asked if we wanted desserts or coffee so asked for the bill and left. No service to speak of. This was a regular venue for when the family visit (usually once every 3 months) and we had a great time at Christmas, but it may be a while before we return. Hugely disappointing!

love it all - service and food. Very tasty food - both in and take-out. Never had a bad meal here. Staff are always friendly.
