Shahi Nan Kebab Restaurant, Leicester in Leicester

Used to love this place. Bought some kebabs with chutney the tomato onion 1 as I ate the kebab and sauce I fell ill next day. Food poisoning the onion chutney was off! Never going back

I went today Shaii Nan Kebab. Not been for years like and ordered Chicken Curry. Was so much oil and bland taste watery as well. The Sheesh Kebabs was lovely But the curry was waste of £7.50p. Not like it use to be back in the days. Won’t be having a chicken curry again ever!! Been going here for over 30 years. What a let down

atmosphere n/a. delicious kebabs, well spiced (not over- spiced). No plant oils used. I recommend here over many other resuarants.

I have been eating at this place for last 40 yrs but for many years I thought their food standard dropped after many yrs last week I went and this time first thing was the size of the Kebab it was long but very thin so real Kebab eaters will be put off so my advice to the owners make them a little smaller in Length but thicker also Toilet was out of Order another negative todays market is you have to give good facilities if you want business from Todays youngsters because they have Lots of other Choices

The seekh kebabs are superb! The kadahi are usually nice but in my last visit it was not good. It was watery and sweetish. The nan they served were also shop ones and not fresh nan like they used to do. Not impressed

Most kanjoos (stingiest) place I've seen in Leicester. Absolutely tiny portions! Even their large portion is smaller than a regular portion from elsewhere! -No proper salad served (only onions) -No proper sauces (only 1 onion sauce) -Kebab size is so tiny vs back in the days -Prices are extortionate for what u get. -Curry/Rice portions are the tiniest I've seen in the entire country. -Rude staff and make disgruntled faces when confronted or challenged. - Fragments of bone in the kebab which destroy your molars. -Taste of the kebabs has gone downhill. - Not worth a visit, and wasting your money on. Save yourself from this place.

Food wasnt that great to be honest but reasonably priced. Curries too bland.

Simplistic perfection. A few simple things done well, offering incredible the value. The kebabs with the chili sauce were delicious, although if you are hungry you’ll need about 4 to feel full served alongside a fresh naan

Kebab in pitta with the sauce is the best. Lamb pilau is lovely also. Staff is amazing and friendly.

Normally have there shekh kebab ,very nice ,juciy ,perfect flavour but today try there lamb tikka didnt like it small in size and flavour not good ,but kebab are same flavour ++++++.

I been going last 30 year. But I think ownership change. Kebab is not same at all. Disappoint me.

Absolute dive of a place but really good kebab and the sauce is amazing

Absolutely awful kebabs weren't fresh, frozen, then microwaved then grilled to give charcoal look, which he burnt. Chicken tikka pieces were the size of a broad bean. Very bad food please avoid.

The kebabs are not the same recipe as before and new guys dont cook the kebabs fully as well bought as bought takeway kebabs which were raw and a lot smaller for the price

Have been going therr since 1980 as a student at Uni. Now 40 years still go there when in UK. I actually drove from Heathrow once with business friends. The food isnt cheap but ITS THE BEST KEBAB there is. I havent been in UK due to Covid but hopefully Nitin is still there with Khan saheb

I've never written a review before but felt compelled to review this place after receiving very small portions and bad customer service. Overall very disappointing, avoid.

Undisputed 1 for kebabs and sauce in Leicester, until change of business and new staff ,now not the same , kebabs and curries are lacking something as well as being really spicy not for me anymore after 32 years may have to find another shahinan out of town for the same experience

It's been there for as long as I can remember (I think opened since 1970), and in that time little has changed. Don't expect a place that looks good, but expect a place where the food is good, and the best sauce I have ever tried, seriously it's that good (been trying to recreate it for years with no success). I'm not sure if it's to everyones taste, but it's food I've grown up with, so I am a little biased, so take that as you will.

£6 for 2 seekh kebab and few chicken tikka pieces in a small pitta bread, definitely not worth it. taste has gone downhill. don't think would go back.

The best lamb curry in Leicester

Not a great kebab and chicken tikka today, the chicken tasted pre cooked and warmed on the grill and the kebabs were nothing special. Wouldn't recommend try the place on Catherine Street much better quality.

unfortunately not the standard expected or to the liking that people are commenting about. went there yesterday with my partner and was surprisingly served stale reheated kebabs dripping with grease and naans that were as solid as a rock. travelled from afar to try this place having heard about it, but sorry to say this DID NOT live up to the standard or quality of food that is being claimed by some. maybe it was isolated but certainly left a very bad taste in my mouth. last time I go there.

Shahi Nan Kabab fantastic little gem of a place. When you step in looking at the decor you can see the place has history. All the cream walls covered in the charcoal smoke from the grills, It give the place character. As been from out the city I was taken to Shahi Nan by a friend who’s been visiting here for over 25 years.. We went for the classic kabab in pitta topped with a light salad & the classic red chilli onion source & a plate of grilled chicken tikka. The kebab was nice with a nice flavour grilled to perfection. The tikka piece were nice too could’ve been bigger.

Good thoughts about this place before buy the foods here,because it’s started on 1973,old classic food will be there but not ,the naan was made on the day time to serve in the evening,they re heating through the grill By the time you come home it’s dry and hard Karai ghost and chicken curry was disappointed ,looks like they used patak brand curry sauce cooked with frozen lamb or chicken ,waste of money ,they need to get updates with current market but friendly people though

This place is amazing, it serves best traditional kebabs and curries and has for last 40 odd years! I can remember my grandparents telling me visiting with their children to this lovely place 30-40 years ago and still... , kebabs have soo much flavour with sauce and nan, I really like this place and appreciate the staff they are brilliant best kebabs I have ever had!

This place is a classic. I've been going since I was about 8. 3 kebabs in a nann 8s my favourite, their special sauce is the icing on the cake. Bravo for keeping it real and ensuring a classic can survive throughout the years if you've got the right product.

Start cheating now.. kebabs are smaller than before and i can see they been cut into pieces after cook... they did not cook smaller i can clearly see the pieces naked from one side
