What a nostalgic experience. Called in on the off chance and instantly made at home. Food was great and service impeccable.

We have previously eaten in the restaurant and it was lovely (about 8months ago)! We have ordered a take out tonight on just eat, delivery time said 40min - 1hr. After an hour, still no food, we gave it another 5min then phoned the restaurant. They said they delivered it, we have a baby and two dogs - I had been stood watching at the window for the delivery driver ever since the just eat app updated to say the driver was on his way- I stood at the window for 35minutes and not a single car pulled up or person. They then said we didn’t answer the door or our phone so they left it on our doorstep!!!! A complete lie! I had my phone in my hand too! My husband checked the doorstep anyway and no food. They then said they left it on the doorstep of number 3, the opposite side of the road as we are number 2. Absolutely outrageous. Husband went to check, no food! And even if there was it would be freezing or neighbours will be enjoying it. Staff were extremely rude and unhelpful on the phone! We asked for a full refund and will never spend our money at this establishment again after such poor service! First time I have ever left a poor review for anywhere but sincerely the worst service I’ve ever experienced! Now I’m off to get dinner elsewhere.

Ordered through Deliveroo, its the worst curry ivw ever had. Ive been goung Shabaaz 25 rs but this wasnt edible. Chick Tika Madras and it was slop on a plate. Then Shabaaz say thet wont refund me because i ordered by deliveroo, after 25ys of custom they hid behind this, as if they gaun nothing from using deliveroo. Look at the photo, does that resemble a Madras ? Or slop ? The lot went in Bin

This restaurant used to be great many years ago and I used to visit regularly. I don't whether there was a change in chef but things appeared tp go downhill fast and I avoided the place. Tonight I thought I'd give it another go and ordered a takeaway for my family. Big mistake. It was the most tasteless and bland curry I've ever had. It had clearly been thrown together when I arrived as I had to wait a good ten minutes or so in an otherwise deserted restaurant (apart from one couple). When you have other restaurants nearby offering a far superior service I struggle to justify ever visiting again which is a shame as it used to be so good.

As a frequent visitor to Shahbaaz i know how amazing the food is but last night was the first time there since covid. The restaurant has done a superb job of adapting to the social distancing restrictions with less tables (spread out well) constant sanitizing as customers left and all the staff wearing masks and gloves. We felt really safe and comfy and really applaud what the team have done. The food was as gorgeous as it always is and the service was spot on as ever. This place really is great and can do no more to impress and make sure you have a great night out in this post lockdown world.

Myself and my friend had a meal on Saturday 11th January. The service was very quick, we ordered or food in the bar area and then we were taken through to the restaurant area. The Meats samosa's came with one being meat the other was vegetable. They were quite small in size and quite hard. My friend ordered the chilli mossala which all came on a plate. I ordered the chicken tikka massala which came on the hot plate in a dish. The massala sauce was laiden with desiccated coconut. , the sauce was of a custard consistency. I have never in over 40 years of eating varies curries had one with so much coconut included. The chicken was nice when I scraped the sauce off. Very disappointing. We also ordered the peshwari nann which which very thick and we left 3/4 of this. When the waiter came to collect the majority of my dish was still intact. I advised the waiter that my dish was overloaded with coconut. He proceeded to tell me that different chef's cook it different ways. The restaurant was getting quite full when we were leaving, needless to say we will not be returning.

Visited on Friday 25 Oct 19 for an early evening meal. Quite empty when we arrived for our booking but soon started filling up with diners and others collecting takeaways and I can certainly see why! The food was great, my fiancée asked for help with the menu and nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was really tasty and very reasonably priced; the garlic naan amongst the very best I’ve ever had. Good sized portions that beat us but which were bagged up for eating the following day (just as good for lunch on Saturday!). There’s plenty of free parking and a nice looking cafe/wine bar (Mason’s) right next door. Slightly dated decor but the food and value speak for themselves. This was our first visit but won’t be our last. Well-done Shahbaaz; we’ll be back soon for either a takeaway or a sit-down meal.

Food was fantastic!! Restaurant was lovely, clean and easy to find. The staff were friendly and accommodating! Will definitely be returning!!

My wife and I arrived at 21.30 on 30th May 2019 with closure time of 23.00 and was greeted with a terrible attitude by the waiter of “we are closing soon”! We persevered and entered as it our local restaurant and have have visited many times. We felt uneasy as the waiter in question was slamming the food trolley around (when we noticed him serving other people) the restaurant and was clearly not feeling relaxed or happy. After 10 minutes or so we asked the waiter if we could order drinks and it felt awkward. You know, like you’d asked someone to brew up for you....that you didn’t know! We were served with a big dose of what felt like insincerity’. After a while, I called the waiter over and asked him if there was a problem as it stated on google the restaurant-was open until 11pm. He said there was as he agreed with his boss they would work until 10pm! He said it was Ramadan and they agreed to work until 10pm. We did not know this as there was no signage stating it or info online and why should it make a difference? We understand the fasting commitment but did not envisage it having an impact on our Indian meal at our lovely, lovely cal restaurant. We told the waiter, we felt he had been very rude to us and we reminded him we were locals and had celebrations with them on New Year’s Eve 2018 as well as additional visits thereafter! He just said “it’s Ramadan and I have not been banging my service trolley, “...etc. By this time we felt he had lost the plot and we witnessed him asking the entire restaurant “ Have I been Awkward to anyone or been banging around with my trolley!” We were so embarrassed.....as you can imagine, we told him so and left the restaurant promptly. Terrible experience! My wife is a nurse and works with all people 24/7, without issue. Honestly, it was so awful for us to experience. Unimaginable in fact, and as frequent visitors we ask the Management to investigate and kindly let us know the outcome and reassure us to prevent recurrence at anytime in the future. Thank you.

Okay but not fantastic. Rather average not the best of Indian cuisine. Not a restaurant I would recommend as it was not particularly enjoyable.

We booked a table for 7.30, on arrival I thought we would have to wait as the restaurant looked full, but we were seated almost straight away. The obligatory poppadoms and chutney followed by onion bahji and chicken mardras for the main. The service was excellent, food was amazing and the prices are also good. All round a good night

Staff are really accommodating & seemingly more courteous than any neighbouring Indian food establishment.

This Asian restaurant has seen other restaurants of this kind come into the area and still remains equal too or better than its competitors.The place is spotless and better since a refurbishment in last 2 years.The food never disappoints and is very good value.the staff are friendly and efficient.

Been going to this one for a long time. They used to do a superb Chicken Tikka Madras but I am assuming they have changed the chef since and it's now just a standard, fairly bland dish, not better than anywhere else. Staff not very friendly, more interested in congregating around the bar chatting to each other. There are better ones in the area, which is a shame as this use to be the best.

Arrived at my hotel quite late so popped in here for a Karahi and rice. No-one in only a few at the bar drinking. The karahi wasn't very tasty at all, very oily and rice was very dry and tasteless

My favourite take away curry. Chicken tikka pathia, very tasty, very hot. There are nicer restaurants in the area but the food can’t be beaten.

One of the best indians ive had, phoned in last minute on a saturday night and they managed to fit us in. It was really busy and the food and service was excellent!

As always received a very warm welcome. We hadn't booked but were found a table anyway. Ordered our food which was superb. In the five years we've been going regularly to this restaurant the quality and amount of meat in the curries has never changed. It is a thoroughly good meal. Staff are friendly and often share a joke. A good alround restaurant.

Called in Saturday night after being in Manchester. Four of us - probably getting towards the end of service but still quite a few customers dining - we were shown to a table immediately. Poppadums, chutneys followed by a main course. Food and drinks served promptly in a clean, airy friendly establishment. I had a lamb chilli mossala. Tender meat in a rich spicy sauce. Just what I wanted and I enjoyed every last scrap. Reasonably priced great food with quick friendly service. I would certainly come here again.

That's one of the best Indian restaurants I have been in the UK. Really delicious food, huge variety of dishes, clean and tidy place, and friendly staff. Strongly recommended.

Visited eatly evening with 3 friends.Good atmosphere with attentive service.One of our party found her meal too hot and spicy and they removed it and made something else for her.Good portion sizes and plenty of choice.

He probado otros algunas buenas, pero no se puede comparar a un curry Shabaaz, han establecido la marca de un banco. He intentado engañar a mi hijo cuando tengo un occadion sacar para él desde otro lugar, y dijo que era un shabaaz curry. . Pero no había jugando él! Jajaja

Sana y sus muchachos han sido sirve una comida con 25 años; y si regular y tome el tiempo para llegar a conocerlos realmente. Con respecto a sus platos de curry, cada uno es prácticamente como se indica en el menú, así que por ejemplo "pollo tikka dupiaza" será un buen plato de curry medio y un montón de cebollas fritas en la salsa. Compare esto con mi propio favorito "pollo tikka patia". De nuevo este es un buen plato de curry, buen tamaño de pollo tikka en cubos un chili, salsa de ajo y tomate puré; en el menú que dice caliente y es…… no es para los pusilánimes.

Gran comida india servida en un ambiente amigable y relajado. La comida es de primera, el mejor con diferencia. India Usar el servicio para llevar también cuando os apetece algo sabroso. Recomendado. . . . . . . . . . .

Shahbaaz has been our regular weekend restaurant for over twenty years for a couple of reasons, superb food and excellent customer service.Probably the most accommodating and friendly staff you will meet and a selection of delicious food which is second to none.We have recommended Shahbaaz time and time again, the feedback is always excellent.Keep up the good work Sana & your team.

I can't put into words how consistently good the food & service is in the shahbaaz, my one addiction in life is curry on a Friday night and this place never fails to feed my addiction.. I love my currys extra extra hot and the chef here never ever fails me , we have brought lots of guests in here from all over the country and all say the same ( best curry they ever tasted ) we follow rugby so on the Fridays we are away from Manchester we have curry in the most highly recommended restaurants they always disappoint this is not that the food is bad it is just that it is nowhere near the standard we are used to at the shahbaaz . Thanks sana, ansar and the wonderful raj for the wonderful service ( not forgetting the outstanding chef ) who so looks after my taste buds so well. The Shahbaaz never fails to get our weekend started on a happy relaxed note , in fact our name for Thursday is now shahbaaz eve .. would I recommend this restaurant?? I couldn't recommend it high enough ..

Fantastic service lovely staff and excellent food. We have been customers as long as we can remember both in restaurant and takeaway. We enjoy variety of choice and have tried lots of varied dishes with help and advice from the staff. They can be very busy but will always find you a table and make sure you are looked after. we have tried other Indian restaurants but none have been as good.

I have been eating Shabaaz's food for over 20 years, both sit down in the restaurant and takeaway. The food is of a consistently high standard and I am not easily pleased when it comes to food. The staff are attentive, friendly and curtious, nothing is too much trouble. This makes for a relaxed atmosphere which can be enjoyed by all. When I go on holiday, I always start to carve a Shabaaz curry on the way home. The best traditional curry for lots of miles around!

Eat here on a regular basis ,tried different dishes favourite being indian railway curry and rogan josh. Food always tastes exceptional ,staff very polite and courteous and very helpful when discussing menu choices. A good pint of cobra and all this at very reasonable prices. Why go anywhere else!!!

My mum and dad have been coming here since about 1990! Never fails to impress. We spend every Christmas Day here and various times throughout the year. Fabulous personal service and great food. Cannot fault. Thank you for always looking after us. :)

I've had the very great pleasure of eating both in and out over the past 20 years at the Shahbaaz. I've even done Christmas Day. Over that period I've seen other restaurants come on the scene within a close proximity but none come anywhere close when it comes to service and hospitality. Price wise this place can't be beaten. Food wise it's what I expect from an Indian restaurant, non of this Cordon Blu Nuevo nonsense. Service wise it's unmatched. The team has changed little over time and that makes them experts at what they do. To miss it is to miss out. Thank you guys for your years of great service.

I came here on new years eve with my daughter and grandaughter having previously been with friends. What a let downPoppadoms burnt Roast chicken was deep fried and very dry.The staff were rushing us through the meal and gave very poor service . All staff wrer miserable lookingCurry and rice were tepid Awful.

I no longer eat curry's anywhere else, just can't beat the shabaz, love the food, staff and atmosphere.

I visited Shahbaaz whilst staying with relatives in Boothstown on a Saturday evening . Service received was excellent and the food was well cooked and tasty . The chicken jalfrezi was particularly nice . No real bill shock either. Overall a really nice restaurant .

First visit and won't be the last! The food was fantastic, the service was wonderful and the prices were incredibly good value. A real good find which I can't wait to go back to next time I'm in the area

Visited with friends in April this year.The restaurant is very busy and you have to wait quite a while for your booked table.However the food served is out of this world and tastes like Indian food should taste.Staff are on the ball and there are plenty of them.If you want to eat in a quiet restaurant on a saturday night, then dont come here as the place is full to busting at the seams and of course there are a few customers who like to be heard above everyone else. Good pint of Cobra as well as the food.

Me and my family have been going to Shahbaaz for the last 10+ years and I can safely say the staff has practically become a second family. Nanu, and the rest (apologies as I am not even going to attempt to spell anymore of the names) have been brilliant with us from when we were kids and we looked forward to not only the food (which in my opinion is the best Indian food I've ever had) but the laughs we would have with the staff every Saturday night.I now live in Dublin but whenever I visit home, I am asking when we are going to Shahbaaz as it isn't a proper visit, without visiting my second home!

Addicted to this superb dish from Shahbaaz - big juicy pieces of chicken breast in a spicy rice mix - eat it either with the standard vegetable sauce or the staff will add a sauce of your choosing - I like mine with the Madras sauce for a little extra zing!!

I have been going to shahbaaz for years as it is my local Indian restaurant and it has never let me down. Whenever friends visit we always take them here because we can rely on great service and food. The staff will always help with the menu and answer any questions. Long may it continue.

Regulars here for roughly the past 15 or so years. Decided to have Xmas dinner here today and all i can say is it was absolutely fantastic! They just couldn't do enough for us! From the food to the staff & service, absolutely wonderful! Highly recommended for eat in or takeaway! Enjoy a nice pint of Cobra whilst waiting for your takeaway & enjoy the company of the superb staff! Thank you very much & Merry Christmas!

By way of a change we decided to visit local restaurants. This was to let locals know that a Rotary Club was active in the area, and for members to try local restaurants. Food was very good served by affable and knowledgeable staff. Worth a visit.

Amazing meal in every way, staff were friendly and prompt. Food was quick and hot and tasted amazingggg! Sides were all so tasty we were sad to leave any waste. Very reasonable prices as well! I would definitely return

Popped in with some friends on a Tuesday night for an impromptu meal. Not much to look at from the outside and very quiet inside so I was a bit worried. However as soon as the food arrived all worries disappeared. The food was excellent, service timely and all very reasonably priced. I will be back.

Visit this restaurant on various occasions with friends and it never fails to be anything but a good experience.The staff are very friendly and attentive without being pushy, and appear to know when your ready to eat after just having a relaxing drink. Food is always good and menu is extensive Visited the place a lot over the last few years as we're never disappointed. If there is anything to criticise, it would be that it may be time for a bit of a spruce up decorating wise, other than that, can't complain

Visit here maybe every 6 months or so. Staff are great, food is tremendous, its a proper old school curry house unlike some of the newer " FLASH" ones,. You know exactly what your going to get here and what you get is fantastic 10/10 Tremendous

The Shahbaaz has been established for almost as long as I can remember and has always been consistantly good plus the staff are great lads,which is probably why it has lasted. The dishes tend be what you expect unlike in some of the newer places; that is to say a Balti is a proper Balti served in a proper cast iron bowl as is the Karahi. A Madras is a no frills hot curry and a Masalla is a Milder sweeter sauce just as you would expect.For something different try a Lamb Tawa, it comes on a sizzleing hot iron plate with onions & green peppers in a middle of the range sauce; if your not that hungry you will be when you smell it! If you like a hot curry try the Shahbaaz Patia, it's done in a Tomato and garlic based sauce with lots of va-va- voom chillis! Superb.The restaurant is nice, clean and comfortable; but in light of newer places it's probably ready for a make-over but no need to go over the top like Amans for example. Simple things like tidying up the fish tanks and perhaps spruceing up the menu with a few new ideas. The Shahbaaz deserves five stars for longetivety but I've only given it four becaues they have been snoozing whilst other, newer places have hit the ground running. Just a few simple tweeks would see them deserving six.

As a fellow reviewer mentioned, there is a great deal of choice when it comes to Indian restaurants in this area. For me however, this restaurant is the most consistent and offers the finest service and quality food. The staff are welcoming, helpful and courteous- they strive to ensure your experience is memorable. The food is superb value for money: it's flavoursome and authentic. I would recommend bhanjari kebabs to start and a chicken tawa for your main!

On arrival we were seated in the bar area and served drinks with a bowl of Bombay mix which was stale. After ordering we were shown to our table. I ordered my favourite curry, a Lamb Bhuna and my friend ordered a Chicked Madras. My dish tasted nothing like a bhuna should taste, it was totally lacking any heat and was devoid of any other flavour, the lamb was tough and chewy. My friends dish tasted of tomato purée and chilli and nothing else, his chicken was also chewy and dry. On being seated we had requested some water anticipating some spice, but when this arrived I poured some into a glass and the water had lots of small white particles floating in it. We ate our meals and asked for the bill which arrived with some sliced orange and an after dinner mint, I took mine out of it's wrapper, it was squashed and the chocolate looked faded in colour around the edges so I decided not eat mine, my friend took a bite of his and spat it out saying it tasted weird.

The staff always make the whole family welcome , food always good , good drinks at good prices. Our son has had the same Balti dish , at least once a week, for the last 15 years !!!!

Where we live we are by no means short of an Indian restaurant to chose from- spice lounge, Amans, Zest, Red Sea. Having tried all of these we always return to shahbaaz. It is consistently good. The staff are excellent always friendly and extremely knowledgable about their menu. The food- amazing whether it be take out or sit in it is always beautiful and fresh. Love it as do all my family.

Often use this restaurant and found the staff to be very polite and helpful. The food is superb especially the mixed starter and the Chicken Tikka Madras. Will be using again.
