We visited here last year when working at the NEC. The meal was so good we thought we'd give it another go. I have to say this time, it didn't quite live up to expectations. The general consensus was that the food was slightly disappointing. The general ambience and service is very good, just everyone's meals were a bit underwhelming. Hopefully this was a one-off and we were a bit unlucky.

I exhibit at the NEC about 3 times a year, and was recommended to go to this restaurant by my hotel about 4 years ago. I go there every time I visit now, and I have yet to be disappointed. Highly recommend this place. The food is great, the staff are happy, and it’s always a lovely experience. The restaurant is a bit isolated, but it’s the best curry I’ve ever had, so well worth the effort.

Op zaterdagavond het zo druk dat er nog zeker 10 andere reserveringen op hun tafel wachtten. Na een half uur zijn we teleurgesteld vertrokken. Het was er binnen niet uit te houden, warm, alle ramen beslagen en de tafels dicht op een gestapeld, onbegrijpelijke chaos. Na 700 meter lopen heerlijk gegeten bij Sreepur waar plek genoeg was, vriendelijk personeel en het eten heerlijk.

Visited here with all my colleagues from near and far (15 of us) whilst attending an event at the NEC the next day. Accommodating a large booking is difficult enough, but the service was prompt, the food was quick and delicious, all came at the same time and they put up with a rowdy bunch! They provided birthday cake and a free bottle of alcohol for my friend, and baileys for all of us. The bill proved it was good value for money and would definitely return when in Birmingham

We booked by telephone after leaving a voicemail message... they call back and confirmed they could fit us in for a table of 9.. the waiter suggested we all have a mix tandor. Starter... assume this wpuld make it easy for the kitchen even thou the place was less than 1/2 full.... The starters where very nice... no probs.... Then the main course... everyone thought the food was very bland no spice or flavor to the meals... being the brave fool I wanted to send my meal back as I had selected a spicy kabab from the Cheifs special menu... so I expected some spicy and a bit of taste... both of which where lacking... I tried to get a watiers attention for 5 mins... and no one aas maming sure the table was happy... the only way I got attention was to phone from the table to ask for a waiter.... !!!!... never had to do that before... sent my meal back reordered a Balti of which they just made HOT probs to teach a customer who had dared to complain.. Never going back which is a shame as I entertain at least 5 or 6 customers every month.... too much goid food on offer in the area to go through that again.....

Visited Shabar for a pre concert curry on a very cold night. Had a very warm welcome, excellent food, one of the best curry meals I have had for a long time, and complimentary drink. Look forward to our next visit.

Overnight at Birmingham airport and decided to get a taxi to this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Attentive staff excellent chefs specials and a complimentary digestive at the end of the meal. Highly recommend a visit - well worth the taxi fare!

We only discovered that our favourite restaurant does takeaway/deliveries tonight....delighted! The food is wonderful, the best by far. We'd been let down by our usual Castle Bromwich restaurant (mentioning no names) and Shabar promised us a quick delivery. They didn't let us down, it was speedy and the driver was really friendly. It was a large, varied order and they got everything absolutely spot on, and even threw in a couple of great extras. THIS IS NOW OUR GO-TO TAKEAWAY AS WELL AS EAT IN RESTAURANT!!

We have lived in the area for about 10 years but have never visited.

Visited here with some colleagues and while it might not look much from outside it is a great find. Staff were brilliant, they advised and explained dishes and were very efficient. Food was good, portions large and there were many different dishes you don’t usually see on other menus. And the table nan is the size of the table!

Booked to come here this evening as part of my son’s 21st Birthday celebrations. Food was outstanding as always & excellent attentive service. Would highly recommend as an excellent place to eat & very enjoyable relaxed atmosphere

If I told you there was a brilliant Indian restaurant, with outstanding staff, outstanding service, outstanding food and outstanding value for money, you would struggle to believe any restaurant could score top marks on all fronts.

Me and my husband have been a couple of times now. We like this place and convenient for us as we can walk down. The food is great, the service is great and has very friendly waiters. If you are having dessert then one to try is malteaser cheesecake and everest ice cream.

If you love burnt food this may be the perfect place for you? If not I would try somewhere else. Muppets!

We ate here with friends on Saturday night, we had booked a table thank goodness as it was packed. The food was lovely, I had a chicken dopiaza & pilau rice, it was just the right heat, 8 of us ate here and we were all pleased with our food. We will return when we next visit Birmingham

Been to a lot but always come back. Everything is simply delicious and the service first rate. The staff always greet you warmly and rarely forget a face. I'm moving out of area soon and leaving the Shabar is about the only thing I'll miss.

Recently visited with a couple of colleagues whilst in Birmingham for work. We just walked by, went in and were seated quickly. Service and food were excellent and very reasonably priced. All 3 of us picked the Thawa Chicken Tikka with various side dishes, dessert and drinks, all of which were lovely - we will definitely be back nest time we are in town.

I've visited many restaurants all around Birmingham but this place has to be one of the best balti houses in town.The restaurant is always busy and also has many Indian customers which shows the curries are quality.service is very good,fast and efficient....good prices and a complimentary baileys too.

Had our first visit to Shabar tonight, it definitely won't be our last. The service was 1st class and the food was really tasty. Excellent value for money, the portions were huge, at a great price. I would highly recommend Shabar.

Encontramos esta casa curry por casualidad ya que nos quedamos cerca de los Autosport Show. Nos dieron la bienvenida los miembros del personal que nos verypolite mostró el bar mientras terminaba de preparar nuestra mesa. Cada uno de nosotros nos dieron un menú a través de mientras disfruta de nuestra bebida. El restaurante estaba decorado con gusto y música tradicional india en el fondo. I ordered the chicken tikka massala and my friend ordered the prawn chilli and poppadoms to start. A guy turned up and whipped our starters away at the same the as saying "are you ready for your main" so then our mains were given to us, my friends dish had something resembling shrimp in it which when we queried it was described as small prawn NOT king prawn.. LOL anyway the tandoori chicken tikka massala turned up, bright red, sweeter than a korma and with lamb in it rather than chicken. We got two pound off tho so that made it right!

We make a special journey here every year on our way to Lincoln to visit friends. Our boys love the food and atmosphere. The menu is very extensive and the waiters are friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable too! You must try the Balti.

Personal muy amable, buen servicio, precios razonables. Con 6 diferentes vinieron Poppadoms salsas y aderezos, el arranque (pollo tandoori) era enorme. Mi balti llegué un poco menos de sabor para mi gusto y me pidieron algunos adicionales coberturas o especias; sin preguntar lo sustituye por otro plato fresco sin queja, que era excepcional y la comida era fantástica (para ser sinceros, me podría haber pedido un plato relativamente insípida). La segunda vez en este lugar y la primera experiencia fue genial, pero esta vez era muy pobre. Aparte de un par de malestar estomacal el servicio era lento nos tomó unos 45 minutos para llegar a la red y todos los platos eran exactamente la misma aunque se describen de forma distinta en el menú. La carne de pollo y era insípido tanto cordero y también tenía un pescado tandoori que estaba llena de color y nada más y lo pasamos muy sospechoso hedor (para ser justos que cruzaba la de la factura). No volveremos muy pronto.

Debido a sus compromisos laborales, esta fue nuestra primera visita desde Navidades. El personal le dará la bienvenida y un fabuloso nada es problema para ellos.

Fuimos a Shabar por primera vez en un par de años tener comida con recientemente parientes. Habíamos optado por un sábado por la noche, alrededor de las 6. 30. Siempre es un auténtico problema para aparcar cerca, pero nos las arreglamos y fuimos por nuestra comida.

Tuvimos una comida para llevar con otros 6 amigos. Fue entregado a nosotros una corta distancia por la carretera, pero era tarde. Llamaron para verificar donde fue una era me dijeron que estaba en su camino. 10 minutos después el mismo chico con el que hablé por teléfono entregado a mi. Tuve peces tandoori salmón que estaba asqueroso frío. Había un montón de piezas pero la mayoría de la izquierda. También tenía pollo tikka, que era normal. No comer aquí de nuevo.

Fuimos para llevar el 25 de enero (no de área, pero trabajar aquí) y probamos.
