Shaam Nights in Cardiff

The food and decor were very good. We had the baba ganoush which was definitely the best I’ve ever had! As amazing as the whole food experience was, I was sad to see that they offer Coca Cola and other related drinks. For a Syrian restaurant I found that shocking and frankly heartbreaking.

The food was really delicious and fantastic presentation from starters to mains, great customer service from all of the staff and thank you for giving me and my family a birthday to remember. Highly recommend Shaam Nights 🙌🏽

A party of five of us ate here on Saturday evening. From start to finish, it was absolutely fantastic. The staff really do go above and beyond for you. The restaurant decor is authentic as is the food itself. We were seated in a cosy part of the restaurant and were treated like royalty. For starters we all enjoyed the Tabbouleh salad, mixed mezza and vine leaves. We also had an assortment of lassi’s and mineral water. The staff were engaging, professional and overwhelmingly courteous, a credit to the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. The mains were served in precision after we devoured the delicious starters. We all ate with smiles on our faces and savoured each mouthful. Chicken Shawarma, Lamb Okra and Kubba Labaniya were absolutely divine. Warm naan breads were also the perfect accompaniment to the meals. Content with the delicious food we were served, absolutely no time was wasted when ordering the deserts. My family waited a short time for their meals to settle. I was ready to rock and roll as I know how good Middle Eastern sweets can be. No time was wasted when ordering the Baklava, Katyef, Ice Cream ( home made ) and Basbousa. All were exquisite especially the texture and flavour of the ice cream. It was a birthday meal like no other and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time here. An incredible place to eat and spend time with your loved ones while enjoying incredible music and free dessert

Revisited this place with my family and friends for a birthday party, have to say the food was amazing and surpassed the high standards I expected. For starters I had hummus, this comes with bread (naan) and it was sooo delicious. For mains I shared the mixed grill platter, my favourite was the chicken shish and the chicken kufta! The meat was cooked to perfection and was succulent. For drinks I had a Coke Zero because I’m basic. However the star dish for me was my dessert. Who knew they make their own ice cream!! I tried the vanilla flavoured ice-cream (they ran out mango which a colleague recommended I try), which had sprinkled ground pistachio on top to add a nutty twist. This vanilla ice cream is one of the best vanilla ice creams I have tasted. I believe this is in part due to them using some traditional Middle Eastern ingredients to make it. I am 100% coming back soon to try the mango flavoured ice cream!!!

Had a fantastic meal at a Syrian restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with both the food and the overall experience. I ordered the lamb mousaka, and it was absolutely delicious. The lamb was incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth, and the stew itself was rich and flavorful, perfectly seasoned. The portion of rice that accompanied the dish was very generous, which made the meal even more satisfying. To drink, I had a mango juice, which was refreshing and paired beautifully with the hearty lamb dish. It added a nice, light touch to the meal and was the perfect complement. To top it all off, the hospitable and friendly staff gave us a Syrian pancake for dessert, which was simply delightful. It was the perfect way to end a wonderful meal. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Syrian flavors and generous portions!

I had their shawarma wrap, humus and with a drink called Ayran (Light laban or aka lassi). Enjoyed every bit of it but be mindful that they only accept cash.

The interior or the restaurant is gorgeous, the most beautiful restaurant I’ve had the pleasure of eating in. We tried the platter for two which contained 2 chicken kebab, 2 lamb kebab, chicken shawarma, chicken shish on a bed of rice. The lamb was pink and juicy, the chicken was succulent and seasoned well, nothing dry. Additionally we ordered naan for £1, and batata harra which came with a nice sauce. We sat at 3pm and the restaurant was empty but it soon filled up. While it was empty we welcomed the noise the water feature provided. To end we ordered tea which came with a mini dessert to share which was rich.

Always a great meal here. Food is outstanding. The staff are always lovely and can’t do enough for you. Inside is super pretty too.

Food is good. The staff is extremely rude to non Arabs. The service is horrible. You have to ask for cutlery, tissues etc. They don't bring it for side dishes, the garlic sauce etc. However, I can forgive all of this were it not for the fact that one of the staff members asked us whether we have paid when we're leaving. Like wth? My partner literally went out to get cash, because these guys are evading tax or whatever and do not accept card, he came back nad paid for the food. Still this dude asks us whether have paid. Subtle racism towards non Arabs. Will not be visiting this establishment again and tell others not to go either.

Incredible Experience at Shamm nights! I had the absolute pleasure of dining at nights recently, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. It was very quiet (we did go in the week) but that does not mean a sign of a bad restaurant, the other restaurants on the street all were fully packed out and more open plan but this was more secluded and felt more special. The aesthetics were a true taste of the middle east. The food was simply exceptional. Every dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The attention to detail was evident in every bite. The portion servings were very large so either come with an empty stomach or order food to share. There is a lot of rice on the plates. But what truly set Shamm nights apart was the impeccable service. Our server was attentive especially as we came with a large group including kids who were very loud. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic evening. I cannot recommend Shamm nights enough. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for a truly unforgettable dining experience. Please note they were cash only. That may put people off but there is a cash machine right next door or a free Tesco ATM a few doors down. Please if you are in Cardiff head down and try yourself. I found this place from Google reviews so it's only right I encourage others to try it too.

We had the mixed grill which was delicious and more than enough for the two of us. Staff were lovely and the decor is hand painted and gives a lovely atmosphere.

Was the worse food I ever tasted well over cooked not happy at all

What a great restaurant! The food was outstanding. We opted for a do it yourself meze, and I don't think I could really fault any of the dishes. The range of options is as you would expect, and it's all very tasty. The waiter was great. He let us take our time, didn't rush us, and told us if we wanted more dishes just to let him know. Admittedly, we ate here early afternoon when the restaurant was very quiet, but I got the impression this was not a "get them in and out" place. This is a good menu for a vegetarian to eat, though I will say the main vegetarian dishes didn't seem as good as the meze dishes. There is plenty on offer for meat eaters too! There was a small step into the restaurant, but once in, it was quite roomy. The decor in the restaurant transports you to the Middle East, and it is done very well. The kitchen is open so you can see what is happening, which is good. The location is not good for parking; most of the side streets are residents permit only. Find a car park and walk, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Take care not to over order as the portions are generous. 6 of us ate, starters, mains, sides and drinks only £150 exc tip. So also amazing value. First visit for us tonight and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend a visit.

Came in hoping for a good meal. Environment was nice, but service and food was a BIG disappointment. Main server with glasses wearing joggers and dirty looking red t-shirt, and couldn't understand English properly as I clearly ordered steak and pepper sauce and chips. And I was only served pepper sauce and chips with NO STEAK! I was shocked. He said he didn't hear me properly and thought I just wanted pepper sauce and chips, like what in earth?? The second server couldn't speak properly neither. No smiling faces nothing, poor customers service. Shawarma was dry and tasteless, hardly any salad, rubbish for £9.50. Only good point was the place was clean. Server did not match the environment, he looked like he should be in a kebab shop. Came here for the first time, unfortunately my last.

Our family had a really sad experience this evening at the Syrian Shaam nights restaurant.We are a group who are genuinely fond of middle eastern cuisine. I had booked a table over the phone two hours prior and when we reached the restaurant after a lot of struggle to park ,this gentleman behind the desk and the man working at open kitchen space cared less about customer service and mannerisms and more concerned about chasing and showing disrespectful comments to their only female staff serving the tables. This management needs to learn to treat their own employees or staff with respect and dignity. The only reason they run this business is the quality of food. Food is worth the time,money but do not expect to have anything else. Their crockery is outdated,the plate we had been served Hummus leached out the design(picture added for reference shows how it is originally store bought).On request we do not want to be served on it ,the person wearing glasses came over rubbing his nails and explained that he is sure there is no evidence of any food toxicity. He did replace it with a new plain white crockery but hammered it disrespectfully on our table and never looked back. Hospitality is next to nothing(do not expect any generosity or friendliness in that place) we could feel a shady vibe, just ruined our rest of the evening. I admire the kindest lady serving ours and every other customer's table. She is wonderful and honest. But the men in the restaurant need to respect the privacy and do not shout or harass staff in front of their clients. We are never getting back but will try other restaurants in the area. I enjoyed the Arab music and wall art. We are all humans and make mistakes but always learn to grow up, these are only my views of an evening dine out with family. Have dine here on several occasions in the past, but this was the first time we were back in Cardiff for nearly 5 years. The restaurant has not change and the food is still as delicious as I remembered it to be. The owner and the staff are friendly and the food arrived promptly. Great portions too. We are not often over in Cardiff, but this is definitely our first choice for dinner any time we are over. We will be back.
