Jaspers Tea Rooms in Cardiff

Went with a friend for afternoon tea. We'd booked but arrived late because of traffic and getting lost! They were very accommodating and kept our table with no complaints and no hurrying. Afternoon tea was lovely, nice sandwiches and lovely cakes and scones. Really delicious! The tearooms are quirky and pleasant with lots of little nooks, so it feels quite intimate. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Lovely little place for a coffee and chat. Lovely little private cubby holes to enjoy a conversation without having to scream at each other. Will definitely visit again. A tidy cup of flat white and Welsh cake as well 😊

The food here is mediocre and don’t expect excellent coffee, but what really made the experience negative was the dismissive behaviour of the two girls serving us today. Brazen eye-rolling and overall sullen and unfriendly, a shame really

Excellent food, service & atmosphere. Well located near to the Cathedral and a car park.

The menu choice is good. You can have a snack, a meal or an afternoon tea and it’s all freshly made. They have an option of gluten free bread and a good selection of cakes including gluten free. I had Welsh rarebit and a warm scone with jam and cream, both gluten free. The staff are helpful and friendly and it’s not too expensive. Definitely worth a visit to this beautiful and traditional tearoom.

Owner very very rude and argumentative I’m not quite sure how she might to run a business with that type of attitude towards customers

Loved this tea room in traditional old buildings. We had to go through about 5 cosy little rooms before reaching the garden, so quaint. Delicious food too, we.had the chicken and ham pie.

We had the most delicious scone with jam and cream this afternoon, the scone was quite large, one of the best we've ever tasted. Lovely place, must go back!

If you have a diet requirement, as I have gluten free and vegan, don’t go to this place. Pre-Booked in for Mother’s Day, they lost the booking, half of the party got there food and half an hour later still didn’t get mine. Eventually it came with real cream with the scone!!! Couldn’t eat it and when I enquired at the desk what was going on I was told” the chef is Polish” !!! Terrible service and place.

Absolutely rude lady serving me and my boyfriend. Went in to order a coffee and she said “go on” rude manners. She seemed to be off with us apparently for no reason. She treated customers behind us nicely but didn’t treat us with the same energy. Wanted to go in as it looked cute, but with rude manners like hers, won’t see me go there again.

Fitted us in for afternoon tea on the day. Food was delicious.... particularly loved the scone with cream and jam. Staff were wonderful, very friendly.

Jasper's is an old-fashioned coffee and cake shop with a small outdoor seating area out the back. I enjoy food here, but for vegans or people with lactose allergies, the shop has limited options for alternative milks.

The place was very nice with interesting furniture. I have to ay the tea was terrible. Very insipid like milk and water. If you want a very nice place and good looking cakes. It would be right up your street.

Myself and my wife had afternoon tea which was a present from a family member. Latte was perfect as was the scones and cakes. The staff were so helpful and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

I ordered an afternoon tea for my parents as a nice surprise after they had a tough week. I currently live in Australia and had issues with the payment screen as I was abroad. I eventually was able to use my Aussie bank account but faced some problems with the order being confirmed. I want to say a special thank you to Richard who was so helpful and supportive in trying to rectify this situation. He replied promptly to my emails and ensured my parents were handed their delivery. My parents enjoyed every delicious treat as part of the afternoon tea for two and were pleasantly surprised to receive this on a Sunday morning. Thank you so much to Jaspers Tea Room. I will definitely be ordering again.

We’ve had a few afternoon teas delivered at home from Jaspers and they’ve always been lovely. A nice selection of sandwiches and cakes (these include macarons, mini Welshcakes, white chocolate covered strawberries, scones with clotted cream and little lots of jam, amongst others). When I’ve ordered an afternoon tea, Jaspers have always asked about dietary requirements, which is helpful. I’ve also visited the tearooms in Llandaf village, opposite the old Bishop’s Palace, for a pot of tea and cakes. A really nice selection of cakes at the counter (you order at the counter), it’s difficult to choose! The tearooms are lovely to visit because they’re so quaint. The artwork on the walls is nice too.

The afternoon tea was really lovely! The vegan option was great! Really enjoyed everything on there, also they had vegan hot chocolate and whip! The only cons where not super friendly via email (how i booked), it was a bit on the cool side inside there (I like to be warm) and they didn't come around to check drinks after they brought the food, we had to go find someone for extra drinks. Even with the cons, still really nice experience with friendly staff and the food was really lovely. I would return and recommend.

This place is the best restaurant and bar to visit in Val Thorens by far. The food is exceptional, the drink is perfectly chilled and the staff are so friendly. I accidentally let my bag there whilst on the slopes and came back to find it safe and sound behind the bar. Thank you to the manager and manageress 🙌

I like the compact layout here. Every time we turn a small corner, there is a semi-independent special space where we can gather and chat comfortably with friends. It seems that the people who visit are all familiar and friendly neighbors. The overall atmosphere is very peaceful and I like it very much.

Excellent coffee. Sampled two of their cakes, chocolate and "Guinness" - delicious both. An olde-wordly atmosphere which encourages a feeling of escape to a more peaceful world.

Friendly staff and a good menu. The seating is scattered through the building but comfortable. We both had Welsh rarebit which was really tasty. We had drinks and we ate for less than £15 each. Nice toilet facility too

Disappointing visit. We shared a sausage Panini which tasted really odd. Not sure what was wrong with the sausage but I'm not fussy but I couldn't eat it as it was so horrible. We then had scones with Jam and cream. The scones tasted really strange almost give off but not stale. Not sure whether they'd used gone off milk or something to make them but the whole experience was disappointing

We ordered coffee and cake to go. There looked to be a nice selection of cakes on offer but I went for the chocolate chip shortbread which was very nice. The coffee however wasn’t I’m afraid and was extremely weak tasting to the point where I threw half of mine away. I feel like if the coffee was improved then they may get a lot more customers as other reviews I see also comment likewise.

First time visiting after a friend recommended it, we had a lovely time the food was amazing, Nan loved her corned beef pie and my sister said she would be going back soon for another salmon and scrambled egg bagel! Hosted a baby shower in Jaspers on Sunday and they couldn’t have been more attentive ❤️ the staff were great and the food was absolutely lovely 🥰 Thank you so much for making it such a lovely afternoon ❤️

Stopped here for afternoon tea with my partner, a lovely, unpretentious little place in a delightful location just a short walk from Llandaff Cathedral. Staff were friendly and welcoming, sandwiches and cakes were fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and the surroundings and decor tasteful and full of character. Cannot recommend the food, drink and service highly enough, a real find and we will certainly be back.

Jaspers was recommended to me by my work colleagues so booked for 6 of us to go there for my friend's 50th birthday. Friendly welcome on arrival & served with tea & coffee within a couple of minutes. Soon after, our cream tea arrived, sandwiches,cakes, scones with fresh Clotted cream & jam, all beautifully fresh & delicious. We had numerous top ups of tea & coffee throughout our visit. The complete visit was superb, service was second to none and food absolutely delicious. Already booked to return for my other friends birthday in August. We visited here as a family and were pretty much ignored by staff. There was about 4 people we saw plus more in kitchen and even when standing at the desk to order, just ignored. No welcome at all really. felt like customers were an inconvenience for their chatting/phone use. No menu’s available for tables so we had to go up to the ordering desk one at a time to see what was on offer. We had wanted afternoon tea (main reason for choosing Jaspers) but there was no info on the afternoon tea displayed anywhere, when asking what was on it got an unhelpful response of ‘sandwiches and cakes’. Really difficult to get useful information out of the staff. We were seated in a back room, which was absolutely freezing, and cold in appearance, felt like a storage area they’d popped a table in. The food was ok - I remember this place being a lot better back when I used to spend more time in Llandaff (c.2010). In my opinion really gone down hill and I was disappointed I’d recommended it.

Bought an afternoon tea for a birthday present - delicious and scrummy! Have used them before and will again - can't recommend them more highly.

This is a delightful little tea room. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I think the place must be several cottages knocked onto one. The place is a bit of a labyrinth with one room leading into the next and eventually ending up in a outside courtyard. We enjoyed lounging in the sun in the tranquil court yard. Prices are about average and I would be happy to visit there again.

We called in here after wandering around the village and were warmly greeted by friendly staff. We chose to eat in the garden which needs a bit of TLC. Hubby had a sausage and caramelised onion baguette, I had the veg quiche. Food tasty and nicely presented. Coffees were a bit too weak for us. We look forward to returning.

We had cold weak tea served 20 minutes before our accompanying tea cake and sandwich, both of which were poorly presented. Tea cake was dry and bacon roll small with a tiny ramekin of crisps alongside. Very poor value for money.

Home made pies and cakes. Lovely tastey food. I would recommend the corned beef pie and cawl. Jasper's did the food for our wedding at the Llandaff Institute, the buffet style food was amazing, as expected. Well done Babs and her team. I would recommend for an event, or even to have teas delivered.

The afternoon tea boxes delivered to our home today were absolutely delicious. A lovely selection of finger sandwiches including gluten free and the array of cakes was wonderful. Fresh strawberries, clotted cream, little pots of jam and Welsh tea bags were included. It proved to be a wonderful treat for us. Jaspers excelled themselves.

Was a bit disappointed, as there was no reserved table even though I had booked. So ended up sitting next to toilet, which I hate. Tea and coffee were luke warm , and we had to go and ask for some sauce , it wasn't offered. The waitress was young and didn't speak to us , and my white chocolate and raspberry cake didn't taste of white chocolate and the raspberry was just raspberry jam, but it was very moist thankfully. Sorry to be picky , but we rarely go out now, and maybe we expect too much . Sandwiches and toasties were OK.

Lovely venue with olde world charm near the cathedral (and 2hrs free parking nearby). Went for afternoon tea which was a plentiful array of sandwiches (egg mayo, ham & mustard and salmon cream cheese) and sweet treats (cup cake, large mini Victoria sponge, macaroon, mini welsh cake, scone cream jam & chocolate strawberry). Coffee was properly hot (rare these days) and delicious. Only thing that let this down was service. The young lady looking after us had a totally disinterested manner, no one came to check if all ok or offer coffee top up despite frequently walking passed our table.

Jaspers tea rooms did an outstanding outside catering afternoon tea event for 40 people at Insole Court for our family last Saturday 6th November. The service was exceptional and the cakes and sandwiches were delicious. The vintage crockery and cake stands on the tables looked stunning. I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you so much Babs to you and your friendly team for making our afternoon tea event such a success.

There's a very traditional British tea room vibe on offer here. Very nice tea, coffee, cakes and snacks, though nothing out of the ordinary. I personally find the seating area a bit cramped and dark, but that fits the general olde-worlde style of the place. Apparently there's a decent garden, but it's always been closed when I've visited, and I found it very off-putting on my last visit that someone was putting round a mop ready to shut up shop. Surely you do this after you've closed your doors to customers?! Pleasant staff and service, but not one of my favourite places really.

Had a bacon roll and a hot chocolate. bacon roll was solid, in fact, very solid. But the hot chocolate, wowee, go on Jasper, tell the recipe. that was NAUGHTY! Great way to start the morning, and will definitely be back sometime!

Didn't think much of Jasper's..A pot of weak tea for two, and Bara Brith for two, £12.00! And I think staff should be given a bit more training than simply dumping a loaded tray onto the table and leaving you to it.. Grim.
