No room at the inn, even though we had booked. My sister-in-law had booked a family birthday meal for 8 people, to arrive to be told you booked for 4 people. Lady less than helpful, offered us a drafty table at the door or a seat at the bar, both parents in their 80's. I proceeded to phone the Downshire Hotel, Banbridge, who accommodated us considering it was a Saturday night. We had a fantastic meal in the Downshire. Will never darken the door of the Seven Stars again. Every cloud and all that.

Stopped for dinner in the restaurant. Started with a drink on the pub side. Traditional, friendly pub with good drinks and sports on the screen. We then moved to the restaurant side for dinner. Restaurant was cozy and comfortable with its own bar. Service was professional and friendly. Our meals were all excellent with very generous servings. The sides feed at least 2 people so no need to order sides for each meal. A lovely evening out, nice atmosphere and great food.

Booked here for a group of people after a sporting event. 51 people came back. Was charged £6.50 per person more than I was quoted 3 weeks previous. Ok, I didn’t get the quotation written down but I had gone back to committee and got the price quoted to me passed for payment. NEVER EVER AGAIN.

Booked in for 7.15pm, as I was running late, I phoned and asked if I could push our book back 30 minutes,the lady on the phone was more than accommodating. The food was outstanding, steak cooked to my liking and full of flavour. Prompt service,will definitely be back.

We had the Set Sunday lunch here today. The staff were super, friendly and attentive. The food was hot and plentiful and we enjoyed every bite. £17.95 for 3 courses and Tea/Coffee isnt cheap but I would use again.

Went here on Saturday night the place was full but we were seated for a drink first with no fuss. Meal was absolutely fantastic and the steak was perfect. Staff were great and couldn't do enough for you. Thanks

Rang and booked a table for 4 for 7 o'clock it is now 20.10 and we still have not been seated. I am here with my wife and 2 boys aged 8 and 9. The boys are now hungry and restless and to be honest it has ruined our night. When I complaint to the waitress she has told us to either wait or go it did not seem to matter to her. Even thought we waited so long we were not given any kids menus. After 1 hour 25 minute we have finally been seated. The food is alright I asked for my filet steak plain with the prawns and sauce on the side. I got pepper sauce instead of red wine foam and got 6 extremely small crispy prawns. The sea bass was nice, the kids meals were alright chicken nuggets they were the normal processed ones. As we did not expect to be out so late we rushed out meal. As soon as we were finished we got up and went to the bar to pay. I was not shown the bill but told me the amount to pay. I complaint about the appalling customer service and I got a very insincere apology. I asked if they would take anything off the bill but was told that could not be done. To top the perfect evening as I was paying the bill the waitress needed to get passed and she slapped my bum as she squeezed past at this stage I was speechless. I will never return to eat in this establishment again. I have given this place 1 star due to the appalling customer service.

Who would think that this tiny bar and restaurant in the middle of a small village would have such amazing food!! Honestly id travel to get the food from here, thankfully I don't have too. Renowned for their amazing steak (I kid you not) I thought I'd opt for a fish this time round and well...game changer the seabass was unreal! To top it off the staff are lovely, hard working and very accommodating. It's a 5/5 from me and if you go I know itl be a 5/5 from you :)

Called in this evening. The last time I was here you could still smoke in bars etc. this put me off going back. However now that has stopped we went back. Only one other person in (it was a Monday night). Must be why the heating was not on. Having said that the food was good. Well cooked and fresh.

I had been longing to visit this place since I somehow stumbled upon their menu by accident looking for a place to eat. From May to June I fantasized about each dish until finally, finally on 6th Jule hubby and I were perusing the menu of which I had dreamed right there in The Seven Stars restaurant itself. I tend to find out about a place myself and all I can say is this place did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left every member of staff was pleasant, welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive. Upon asking if I could have a quarter bottle of red wine, I was presented with a choice of 4!!! I eventually settled on the Merlot, but I really was spoiled for choice. For the first course we choose prawn cocktail and mussels. The mussels were superb and the quantity for price paid was more than good value. Hubby had Chicken Maryland with all the trimmings while having dreamed of various dishes for up to a month beforehand, his wife choose the steak with bacon and mushroom stuffing along with garlic potatoes. It was the length of the plate and absolutely delicious. We finished off with fruit salad and possibly the best rhubarb crumble I have ever tasted with the exception of my late mother's. And that is a compliment in itself. We will certainly be back. There is no chasing the food around the plate here and the menu has such range and variety that you can return again and again and still be trying something new and delicious. All the staff were lovely and service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. Our visit to The Seven Stars was just a lovely evening and we shall be back!

I went to the seven stars on saturday 14th September, this was our first time there. I thought it was extremely overpriced. I really hate it when restaurants charge for every single item on the menu. You shouldnt be expected to pay £13 for a piece of chicken, and then pay extra for sides and extra for sauces, its just pure greed. The food is not nice enough to cost that much. I found the food to be less than average. If it was cheap then you wouldnt care, but for the price it was not worth a visit. I will not be back. Also the inside and outside of the building need a revamp, very dingy and old fashioned. Staff and service was good.

Booked here to celebrate a birthday. Table booked for 7 we actually arrived 10 mins early. We were sat at the bar area and provided with menus. Two waitressing staff on that we could see one young and one older ladies. My sister was ordering a burger and wanted to know what the “burger sauce” consisted of staff didn’t appear to know “it’s just usual burger sauce” (my sister was pregnant and needed to know) the staff member reluctantly went off to ask the chef and assured us it would come out on the side anyway - it did not.Another party of four arrived in at about half seven and were seated in the pub section too - so there was 8 people in total in for food, with us still waiting on our food at 7.50 I would hate to see this place busy.We were seated 50mins after ordering and our food arrived 10mins afterwards. Service was far too slow with only 2 tables totalling 8 people we just left dessert and got morrelis ice cream across the road in the filling station.Wouldn’t be rushing back.

When it's busy you may have to wait a while, even if you have booked. But really worth the wait. The food is full of flavour/taste. My favourite place to have a good meal. Staff very friendly. Nice setting 5stars! Oh the wheaten bread, delicious!

Table booked for 7pm. Arrived on time and seated straight away. Restaurant cold had to keep our costs on for a while. An hour and a half later our meal was served. We asked a member of staff if we had been forgotten about, she said we being taken in order some of the other diners had been in the bar before being shown to a table. No apology for the wait. Food was good but won't be back.

I don’t leave reviews on these kind of things unless the food is outstanding. Came here tonight with my husband and little boy. Had the chicken Caesar salad for starter (the nicest I have ever had) absolutely huge! Then I had the sirloin steak garlic potatoes and Diane sauce. Absolutely delicious every last part of it. A fantastic restaurant that cooks proper Irish homemade food. And plenty of it! I have not ate as much in a long time and the whole way through my meal me and my husband kept saying “this is unreal!” Such a gem! Will be coming back on a regular basis. In a day when food is rarely homemade and a tiny decoration on the plate this was such a refreshing find for us. Absolutely beautiful. Oh and the staff are friendly and very attentive.

Visted the 7 stars for evening meal. The staff bend over backwards to accommodate and ensure you are treated with their 100% attention. Menu varied and most famous for its steaks which are locally sourced and melt in u mouth. Beware........portions are huge.

3 couples went for a meal having been here last year. Very friendly and helpful staff on a busy night. Starters were all good and plentiful portions. Men had various steaks all cooked properly to order and very tasty. Ladies also enjoyed their menu choices and all came with a good selection of sides. Some desserts were had which were home made, good quality and good portion sizes. Meal was excellent and reasonably priced in very pleasant surroundings

Visited the Stars once again with my wife just after 6pm on a Thursday. While not regular visitors we have visited there on at least 20 occasions over the same amount of years, never have had I any reason to complain or grumble. Anyway, back to lasts nights visit, you walk through the doors and its now a clean and fresh dining area that welcomes you, staff are there to greet you straight away in a typical friendly manor without being pushy or demanding. Ordered chicken Maryland for my wife and half roast duck for myself with side orders for both. Seated within 15 minutes and the food arrived in a very respectable time. Food was once again cooked perfectly, plenty of it and piping hot, just as it should be. So my thanks go out to the chef and the Stars other staff for providing a good well enjoyed meal for us both. I will return again.

Visited for a family meal. 5 adults booked for 6.15, we arrived promptly and a drinks order and food order taken. 45 minutes later we were shown to the table and they brought out 2 of our started, followed by the other 3, 5 minutes later, which was strange as the three portions of chicken wings came at different times.

The staff are excellent. Good craic and incredibly attentive. Steak was lovely. The only point I would make was were we had been seated it was a little squashed and beside the kitchen door so the flapping of the door was a little annoying but that’s life

Once again this was an excellent meal all from starters to coffee, the staff(All) were helpful and had good knowledge of the menu and willing to help with your choice. The quality of the food was was superb and the portions were great.

I was in the restaurant on Saturday the 28th of April and have to say the food was great! I had the land and sea which was cooked to perfection. Staff all very attentive will defo be back.

My mother and i visited on Sunday evening, i had the 14oz fillet steak and mum had the chicken maryland.

Called for a pre booked meal with my partner and was not disappointed.

Having visited this restaurant recently I was pleased to see it had fresh decor since last time I was there. However that's all that has changed. The service is dreadful. We were in at least 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there. We eventually got a drink and menus. Another 15 minutes before order was taken. Had to go to bar to try and get another drink then waited another 50 minutes before being seated in restaurant. Food excellent, large portions and reasonably priced but surely they could improve on service.

After hearing fabulous reviews we tried it for ourselves. Brie and salmon to start, both beautiful. The mains consisted of the surf and turf and the 14oz fillet. The steak was cooked to perfection, delicious.

Just had lunch in the seven stars, two steak sandwiches both cooked medium. One steak came medium one rare. It was obvious both steaks were just out of the freezer, were dry and tasteless. Very disappointing after hearing such good reports.

Nos gusta nuestros bistecs, y este lugar es una de las mejores que he tenido! Sabroso, licitación, y perfectamente preparado. Las raciones son enormes, y la salsa de diane es para morirse! El menú es estupendo, hay algo para todo el mundo. Después de los entrantes de champiñones goujons ambos fuimos para filetes, ME DIERON LA 14 oz solomillo y consiguiera el filete. . Tanto raro. y cocinado a la perfección! Nos dieron 3 lados, como las comidas no tienen ningún acompañamientos, pedimos patatas fritas, patatas con ajo y champiñones esta receta se acompaña con salsa de Diane. Las raciones son enormes, un lado es lo suficientemente abundante para compartir. El servicio era genial, lo cual trajo toda la experiencia juntos. Todo era fantástico, sin duda volveremos, y os recomiendo este lugar a todo el mundo!

On reading reviews on the Sevem Stars I was tempted to change the venue for this family meal. I am so pleased that I did not. The staff and food were just perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive and the food was of the highest quality. No-one had reason to complain. Well done to all at the Seven Stars. We were not regulars but that did not seem to matter

For anyone wanting a good wholesome country meal, this is the place to be. Large portions so side orders could be shared between two. Two of us went for my birthday meal recently. Cosy atmosphere, lovely friendly staff. We both had fillet steak and I have to say it was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back.

Travelled from Dublin to Belfast stopped in 7 stars on Sunday night after races food superb all staff were helpful and good craic

Booked a table here for 7:15 and arrived at 7pmSeated by the not real but warming fire until our table was ready. Twice asked for our name and had we booked.Ushered to the back of the restaurant and to the worst table in the quaint dining room (right by the kitchen door). The table behind us was then given to a "local" couple. I said nothing as it was my daughter's treat.She had a scrumptious, perfect medium rare steak at £16.95 served with only a couple of onions. Sauce, sides cost £2.95 each. Scampi with a wedge of lemon £13.95 and any extras, yet £2.95. We were hungry... we ate. paid the bill, £36.95 (no drinks included) and left as quickly as we could. Don't think anyone missed us as we got no smile, no thank you, no goodbye.The only tip I'd leave this bar is to put a sign up saying "No blow ins or new business welcome".

What can I say, just a very good consistent restaurant. The food is always excellent and the service and staff are great. It's not fancy, but then it doesn't need to be when the food atmosphere and staff are all you need. The portions here are very big and before you know it you'll be absolutely stuffed. Happy to return any time!

Most people would drive past and think it was a pub.....dont!,,,,,,, the most amazing food and service ive ever had. The stuffed sirloin and champ is the food of the gods. If you eat anywhere in ireland this is the place.

This was our first and last time visiting here. It is very old fashioned which is fine if it has the food to make you ignore everything else. We had the cheese and mushrooms to start. Both were served in soup bowls which meant you couldn't get your knife or fork into the bowl. The cheese was fine, mushrooms soggy with an unknown substance inside which was supposed to be cheese and ham (it had the consistency of wall paper paste). After starters we tried to order drinks. The first waitress I asked looked at me as though I had just asked her to sacrifice her first born, the second as if I had asked to solve an equation. The third person asked me what I would like and then went to walk away without asking the other 3 people at the table if they would like anything. The mains arrived just as the final starter plate was being cleared. Although plentiful the garlic potatoes where very soggy, the champ needed a lot of butter and the mushrooms were microwaved. The only thing that saved it was the steaks were beautiful and all cooked well. The final nail in the coffin was the trifle(???) Which was a tin a fruit salad with a bit of sponge no cream and no custard. No alcohol and a bill of £140 for 4 people with only 2 having starters and dessert! Simply not worth it.

My wife went for a meal for our anniversary,We were both pleased with the standard of the food .We both had steaks and we could not get over the quality of the food.We had noticed that the decor was old fashioned but this did not spoil the experience.

I love everything about this place. The food is amazing and you always leave feeling stuffed. By all means the place is old fashioned and in need of an updating however the staff are always friendly and the food is always 5*. Would recommend the T-bone steak, beautiful.

This is second time I have visited this pub. On both occasions the food has been excellent. Huge portions, (you can't expect anything else in Northern Ireland) but in mixed company no one has ever had bad meal! Food served hot and with a smile. This is a very welcoming place to eat, you might wait a little for your food when very busy but definitely worth it.

Can't find anything good to say about this place!! Overpriced, over cooked bland food served at a snail's pace in a drab and grubby interior. The best part of the evening was leaving safe in the knowledge that I will never set foot in the place again.

Small in size so book in advance,but well worth a visit for good food at a reasonable price. Their relaxed laid back friendly work ethic adds to the charm of the restaurant and bar.

Went here on recommendation of a friend but hugely disappointed. From the start, very poor service, waited ages for our table (even though it was booked). Dated, drab decor, plus my seat was ripped with mediocre food to match. £20 for steak which literally consisted of a piece of steak, half a raw onion on a plate isn't acceptable ! Like the other reviews say - save your money!!! Cook at home yourself - I guarantee will be far nicer. Very overpriced, totally felt like we'd been ripped off. Very poor customer service (non existent) when we told manager of our dissatisfaction. I'd rate this a zero but one is the lowest option !

Very disappointing 1st visit,our last visit definitely.Family group of5 people.4meals poor,very overpriced.One veggie in group, Disastrous,vegetable curry,exceptionally poor.Waitress listened,and as requested,attempted to speak to the owner,who didn't even have the decency to speak to us face to face.This was meant to be a celebration,as l recently had heart surgery.Our money would have been better spent at the local fish n chip shop as it was awful from start to finish. Don't waste your time or money by eating here. My 10 year old grandson could have cooked this meal better to be honest. AVOID AVOID AVOID

A cold night and so was the restauant, the meals were over priced. Would have been nice to be able to have a nice glass of wine without having to buy a bottle. ( bearing in mind the restrictions on drink driving)

Just love the seven stars. Myself and hubby were in the other night and guess what they've only gone and changed the menu!! it's amazing I had the chicken tikka masala and it was better than any Indian I've ever had. My husband had the sea bass he said it was cooked to perfection and tasty. The service was great, friendly as alway. Def our favourite restaurant.

We called in without a booking and the staff we great they got us a table, about 20 mins from we arrived until we were served just enough time for a great pint of beer. Then the steaks arrived wow cooked to perfection as were a all the trimmings. Could not fault one thing about the meal or the staff and the final price was very easy on the pocket.

We went to a restaurant not a fast food restaurant where good food takes time to cook and if you're with good company you don't mind the wait. Service was outstanding as the cook went out of their way to make sure that my choice of fish was cooked the way I wanted not the way it was on the menu and she said it was no problem.

Booked a meal for 7pm for 2. Told to take a seat, waited for 45 mins and order taken in small informal lounge type cafe style restaurant? It was so uncomfortable, The whole place Lacks atmosphere, no soft lighting, no music, everyone listening to conversations, couldn't relax at all. Moved to cafe style snug for meal, staff inexperienced and lacking in etiquette.. Food? Quite mediocre to be honest, home cooked but felt I could cook better feel more relaxed in my own kitchen. General impression from myself and husband was that us paying customers were a nuisance and serving us was a chore to the staff. Starters rushed and main served but left waiting 10mins on sides which is unacceptable given the prices charged, decor old, table mats?! Kitchen roll for napkins? Please I could do better in my own kitchen! Not impressed and won't be returning. An honest review

Very welcoming staff and an extensive menu for a midweek evening meal.The order was efficiently taken and the meal was served. No offer of a drinks/wine list was offered and only after our meal was delivered to the table that we had to attract the waitress' attention.The meal was served on very hot plates and was an abundant serving.The staff ( on my recommendation) would need some training in order to attain "World Host " recognition. Staff came to table on a few occasions and kept saying....are YOUS alright.Coffee was served in a teapot/teacups and not coffee cups !!!!!Substantial meal but lacking etiquette

Been to the Seven Stars on many occasions and again more recently and as always it was fabulous! Portion sizes are unreal (go hungry) the staff are so friendly and attentive and couldn't do enough to help! The steaks are to die for and im extremely fussy about how its cooked (rare) and its perfect every time! I always make sure to pay compliments to the chefs as it is just so nice to go out to eat and its faultless! Keep it up Seven Stars!

I went here with my family for Sunday lunch,when we entered we where given a menu where it said 3courses £16.95.The lady came to take our order and I asked did I have to take 3 courses but was told there was no option it was 3 courses only so I thought ok then,so we started to order the kids food only to be told that the kids had to take 3 courses as well witch was £8.95pp.we thought no way would our 3 kids eat 3 courses, the food was first class and we all did eat 3 courses but it would be nice to have the option to order what ever course we wanted and not forced to take the 3 epically on a kids menu. Get it sorted because I would think again about going for Sunday lunch when maybe I didn't fancy the 3 courses.

Stopped off with my wife and children on way back to Belfast from Dublin. I had been a bit concerned as I was told by a friend that one of the main Chef's had left a few weeks ago. I needn't have worried. My wife's chicken Maryland was exceptional and my Fillet steak was the best I ever had. The kids left their plates clean. I sent my regards to the Chef's Mrs Johnston and Mr Fitzpatrick. Service was fantastic from entering untill leaving. Thanks again.

Absolutely love this place, our first choice for birthdays, anniversaries or family meals. Portions are huge, staff amazing and food gorgeous. New chef is amazing, we were worried that things would change but the steak and sides were as delicious as always. Will continue to go here for years to come!

My husband and i went here on a recommendation from friends who had been recently and said the food was amazing. We had been before a few months back but were put off by the wait for food but thankfully we didnt have to wait too long at all. I had the chicken cordon bleu and my husband had a medium fillet. I must say the food was beatiful in both flavour and presentation. Will definitely be back soon.

Just after goin here for a meal which I have been many many times before and what a horrible meal we had the champ was full of lumps and must have had half a tub of butter in it and the chicken mary land wasn't cooked right watery juice running from it !! And the chicken curry the chicken in it also wasn't cooked enough which the waitress seen and they still had the check to ask for payment when the food was hardly touched never will I be back through their doors that chef needs a few lessons on how to cook
